from Why Not #DoBoth with Kellie Sbrocchi · host Kellie Hall Sbrocchi

THE QUEEN HAS ARRIVED!! I have "my" queen, MISS CALIFORNIA USA, on the podcast today +  It's very special to me because I'm her runner-up! Allyshia + I competed in MISS CALIFORNIA USA 2020 Back in January together + it's been such a wild ride since. Now, she's currently in Memphis, Tennessee preparing to take the stage for MISS USA on Monday, November 9th. This is the FIRST (and very overdue) conversation we've shared since the competition + it's transparent as well as hilarious. In this episode, Allyshia + I take a walk down memory lane as we discuss some of favorite moments from competing in MISS CA USA this year, meeting each other, final moments before the announcement of the winner, + what it's been like for her through the pandemic. "Allyshia likes to say she’s a walking example of why you should never judge a book by its cover. Despite the blonde hair and blue eyes, Allyshia is half Indian and originally born in England," -- we get into exactly why she's more than a crown + what she's learn through this year of adversity while being a titleholder. Allyshia migrated to the United States with her single mother when she was only a few years old. She spent her childhood growing up on a rural farm in Florida where she developed a passion for equestrian sport. When she wasn’t on a horse, Allyshia was working at her family restaurant where she credits her strong work ethic, commitment to serve, and people skills too! At 15, Allyshia left home to attend a European boarding school where she obtained advanced level qualifications in business, psychology, and philosophy of religion and science. She then returned to the states and started her own business before matriculating at Auburn University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and entrepreneurship. After university, Allyshia chased a career in media and landed her first job working for ABC network in Los Angeles, CA, where she currently resides with her English bulldog, Bentley. Allyshia is passionate about female empowerment- specifically in business and entrepreneurship and has her own non-profit organization, Care to Create, which supports this agenda as well as various other causes close to Allyshias heart.  Before entering Miss California USA, Allyshia had waited 8 years to naturalize and become a US citizen, allowing her to be eligible for the competition. Allyshia hopes to inspire others to chase their dreams because she believes that everyone can achieve their fairytale ending if they work hard enough for it.Tune in to meet your MISS CA USA 2020 + cheer her on as she takes the MISS USA stage! Follow Allyshia: @misscausa @allyshiaguptaWebsite: https://www.misscaliforniausa.com/Enjoyed this episode?
