Following the first glorious installment of 'Chapter One', featuring some of the hottest A side cuts from Poker Flats first 25 releases we now delve deeper with a retrospective of some of the more experimental, musical and diverse material captured on the B sides. Steve Bug's Poker Flat label is of course not only well known for its tip-top club tracks but also its wide and high-quality musical output with some of the following tracks responsible for even more mind expanding episodes...! Bug's 'Without Words' eases up into things nicely in a downtempo breakbeat wave, opening up the sound stream for the Märtini Brös' fantastic and largely beatless 'Audiopark 2002' to unfold. One of the labels early heroes Hakan Lidbo also makes several appearances with his latin-tastic 'Cuba Libre' mixing a tasty treat for those summer afternoons. An early pumper from the legend that is Jackmate comes on strong in the form of 'The Jacker' while a special version of Steve Bug's 'Loverboy' reminds us once again of the ultimate slice of minimal funk. Bug & DJ T's '8 Minutes Ahead' follows and keeps the groove sexy and jacking to say the least! Bug's mix of the famous 'Tanzen' also completes the mood before we move on to a couple of strong minded Lidbo cuts, 'Yellow Fingers' and 'Radical Beats'. Sharp, finely tuned and totally groovy these are also interspersed with the equally tight alternate version of Steve Bug's 'At The Front'. A lovely early Tom Clark production also features nearly mid-way through the line up with the funky rolling tones of 'Snap-Shot' Back to the main man Steve's 'The Morning After' rolls on through with its heavy bass energy and Techno attitude that’s then met by the Brös' beautiful electronic message named 'Der Weg' - heavily influenced by some of their German electronic forefathers. A special moment in music even today! A rather rare Daniel Bell remix of Martin Landsky's 'Spy On Summer' pushes through next with its freaky fills and jacked underbeat to be closely followed by fellow pioneer Richie Hawtin and reduced his Dub of Steve Bug's 'A Night Like This'. Steve then returns the favour with his electrified 'Hypnotized' remix of Robotman: 'Hypno Freak' (aka Hawtin). A classic Landsky Dub is always a welcome moment and so Martin remixed his own 'Sweet Sweet Morning' to great effect. Also still sounding fresh is Jeff Bennett's heavy late night jam 'Evolving' and Orbit Starz' 'Virus' dubs things out nicely, too. Pushing on into the last handful of tracks on this gigantic selection Luxury Man's freaking 'Urban (Sensual Mix)' also sounds totally modern still, as does the hi-end production of Orbit Starz 'Inflexible' - an ode to the world of deep stabs and dubbed sentiments. Another heavy Jeff Bennett cut flies in 'Beach Dubbin; style alongside the classic 'Shaked Ladies' from the Glowing Glisses outfit led by Guido Schneider. Last then comes the heads-down anthem of Steve Bug's 'All I Need'. All in all quite a tasty selection which we're sure you'll have a lot of fun with, helping overcome those winter blues!

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Deep Sleep Whisper Hypnosis Jason Newland Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
