The event, now scheduled for Mother’s Day weekend instead of August, is expected to bring a major economic boost to Watkins Glen, Corning and the surrounding Finger Lakes region. Local tourism officials say the race weekend generates millions of dollars for area hotels, restaurants and businesses every year.And the Elmira City Council has approved a temporary 18-month ban on new data centers in the city.
