It was written by Elizabeth Wetherell, and has been called the first bestseller in America. All of the records in this segment of the show, however, will be from the 1940s, because last week, December 14 marked the birth in 1911 of Lindley Armstrong “Spike” Jones. Segment 4: StreetsDecember 15 way back in 1854, the citizens of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania were the first to see street cleaning machines in their city, which is a great reason to have a segment about streets.
