Meet Regan.

Regan Williams is the Co-Founder and CEO of the non-profit Seen&Heard.

To being with, in 2014, Regan’s life was forever changed when she became a foster parent. She became aware for the first time of the crisis in Los Angeles’s child welfare system. From her life experiences, she was motivated to understand policy and advocacy.  In 2016 she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate or ‘CASA.’ In 2017-18, she launched a successful foster care campaign connecting community members, faith communities and non-profit organizations in Los Angeles.

Seen&Heard.

 

Seen&Heard is a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping youth who are transitioning from foster care into independent adulthood. This organization seeks to develop the professional character of foster and system-impacted youth ages 16-23 through performing arts training.  Since its launch in 2019, Seen&Heard has grown in size and impact.

Their Program.

Students cultivate professional interpersonal skills through trauma informed, and evidence-based programming. In this case, they have a new way of developing essential skill to send youth forward.  It’s what they need.  It’s what they are capable of. And most importanly, it’s what they deserve. Every Seen&Heard students past and present stay connected. They have 4 core values. As a result, this is how they remain seen and heard.

In Closing.

Above all, Regan is a disrupter in the world of foster care, specifically in her innovative approaches to teaching professional development to young people impacted by systemic trauma.  As you will hear, Regan is passionate, driven and creative. In addition, Regan will be sharing her personal journey as a foster parent and advocate, and also to educate us about this important issue of the foster care system. For instance, why kids enter care, how they exit and how we as a community can help better support this transition. You will hear, how the arts play a pivtoal role in their success.
