En este episodio, Enrique Dávila Cobos (artista plástico y autor) y Carlos Pérez Agustí (cinematógrafo, autor y Director del Colectivo Casa Tomada) conversan con Jeffrey Herlihy-Mera (Universidad de Puerto Rico-Mayagüez) sobre el contexto que dio forma al libro Dávila Cobos Relatos: arte, esoterismo, amor y muerte (GPK Gráfica 2023). Dialogan sobre la relación entre palabra e imagen, la importancia de viajes en el desarrollo de ideas, la influencia de las lenguas indígenas en el español de Ecuador, la arquitectura de obras autobiográficas y la naturaleza híbrida de la cultura cuencana, entre otros temas. En mayo de 2019 Enrique Dávila Cobos expuso una muestra en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Cuenca, Ecuador, abarcando medio siglo de su producción pictórica y enfocada en esta publicación. El artista, desde la visión de su amigo imaginario de la infancia, plantea en nueve apasionantes relatos un vistazo panorámico de su vida creativa en esos cincuenta años. Nos trae en un viaje por el tiempo, pero también por el mundo, a Nueva York, París, Quito, México, Buenos Aires, Bruselas, Budapest y Cuenca, develando secretos e historias de su infancia hasta el presente, sobre la muerte de su esposa Carmen, sobre las obras de grandes autores y pintores, ente ellos Guayasamín, Hemingway, Picasso y otros, aportando y construyendo una convivencia de existencias humanas que son a la vez racionales, filosóficas, esotéricas y paranormales. Es una expresión profunda de sus viajes en distintas dimensiones que nos permite un autorretrato de un ser profundamente humanista.
