RRR Happy New Year 2018

from Rapidly Rotating Records

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s. Christmas being not just a day but a season, I had it all planned out to continue the season with a new show consisting of songs having to do with merriment, jollity, happiness, joy and cheer. But alas, Mother Nature had other plans, namely, that I should come down with a severe cold the day after Christmas which has kept me literally flat on my back and without solid food until today. So, this week’s show is a reprise of the show from New Year’s Eve 2007. For many of you it will be new, and even if you heard it all those 11 years ago, it holds up and is worth hearing again. Around this time of the year, a number of composers and artists don’te get featured so that we can present vintage Christmas music. So this week we’ll be celebrating the birthdays of Oscar Levant, Kid Ory, Ted FioRito, Nat Shilkret and Cab Calloway. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected]. .
