I will be reviewing and analyzing the Book Star Wars Canto Bight that is a Disney Book and part of Lucasfilm published by Del Rey which came out in 2017. I will go over several topics in this episode. I will give you my rating at the end of this episode. There are 4 different stories in this book. Now on with the review. Here is a quote from the book. It is “War is returning to the galaxy. As the First Order prepares to unleash their power on an unsuspecting New Republic, the only true opposition is the Resistance. Safe Places are growing scarce except in Cantonica.Emerging from the endless sands is Canto Bight, a city of excess and indulgence. In this luxurious escape for the wealthy and unscrupulous, dreams are made reality, and the prospect of war brings only the opportunity for profit.Even as the darkness grows, visitors chase their fortunes enthralled by the glamour and thrill of the casino city. The fate of the galaxy matters little amid the glittering brilliance of Canto Bight. For whatever happens, Canto Bight prospers....”As this quote tells the reader, the city of Canto Bight only cares about having fun, making money, and the wealthy getting wealthier. This is about greed and how greed prospers during war times. There is a war profiting machine, there are those that profit from war and use it to make money. They do not care if they sell to both sides. In fact, there is an individual in this book that does that. He wants to make money off the Resistance and the First Order. He is the third story of this book. The first story is about an honest salesperson that meets a career criminal, and his vacation turns into a nightmare. The reader meets Kedpin Shoklop who won Vapor Tech’s Salesperson of the year. He runs into a career criminal, and his vacation turns into a nightmare. This criminal wants to kill a police officer that he was hired to take out. The police officer arrests Kedpin for having a drug on him. He tortures Kedpin, but Kedpin refuses to give this person up. Kedpin realizes if he is doing this to him, he could do it to other people. The career criminal is impressed as he could not detonate the bomb on Kedpin as he saw how tough this guy was and could not kill him to kill the police officer in the Canto Bight police department. He rescues Kedpin and he and Kedpin watch a fathier race at the end of the story. The criminal will be in trouble with his bosses for not executing his mission. He will have to find another way to make good on that.In the second story of this book, a person wants a bottle of wine so badly that they would hold their entire business hostage to get it. This wine is of such immense value that they want it. This will make Ubilla Gheal not the most popular among her patrons for holding them hostage to get this wine. She must get it from two sisters who are the Grammus’s sisters who would rather sell it to Derla. This shows how bad Greed is and it is never good unlike in the movie Wall Street. In the third story of this book, a massage therapist named Lexo is recruited by Big Sturg Ganna and forced to work for him. Big Sturg Ganna has kidnapped Lexo’s human daughter Lula. Big Sturg Ganna is what you call a mover and shaker. He is on the council of Canto Bight, and he is what you call a mob boss. He wants Lexo to be his eyes and ears. Lexo goes to Panpick who is a private eye and asks him for advice. Panpick tells him, you must find allies that can help, but you must be careful of spies that could be lurking around. Big Sturg Ganna will have spies everywhere. Lexo is forced to do something he does not want to. The countess wants Lexo to kill a weapons dealer that has been selling weapons to both the Resistance and the First Order. This is what I would have told you about how people only care about making money during war. It was what is called war profiteering. Lexo must do this to save his daughter and get close to Big Sturg Ganna. In the fourth story of this book, a down and out of luck gambler is looking for a big break. He is a card player, and his name is Kal. Kal must survive a wild night as he loses to a trio called the Lucky Three. It costs him quite a bit of money. As he was told by a casino card player, you were given a loan. If you do not pay it off, you will be dealt with. This means that Kal will be killed. As the mob would way, you will be swimming with the fishes, if you do not recover our money. There is an accountant that works for Big Sturg Ganna. Kal realizes he must follow the lucky three and see if he can get the money back before sunrise or will be a dead man if he does not get the money back. Kal learns that sometimes you just must have fun even if your life is on the line. There is a truth to that, we all will die one day and what is worth to be a sourpuss all the time. Kal learns that from the lucky three. Will he recover the money? That answer is in the book.As not to be revealed anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does an excellent job of telling these 4 stories and connecting them to each other in this book.I will give you, my rating. I give Star Wars Canto Bight, a 10 out 10. It was very well done. It was fun and did an excellent job of making it real. There are those that lose all their live savings to gambling and the fathier races are no different than horse races. Believe me, the criminal element is involved in the casinos. It is believed that the casinos in Nevada were created by the Mob. One of the private investigators reminded me of old detectives from the past with a ceiling fan in his office. It also shows that Greed is bad and not good unlike in the movie Wall Street. Therefore, this story is fun. Having it come with an audio version is a plus especially if a person travels. Please go to my website and check out my website and you will find links on there to other sites such PayPal, Patreon, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Please check out my playlist review of Star Wars by clicking this link right now.
