State geologic survey offers refresher on Utah's seismic activity after Friday tremblor

While a number of condi­tions resulted in a significant jolt for nearby residents and rumbling that was felt across the Salt Lake Valley, the 3.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred approximately 2 miles northwest of West Val­ley City on Friday, Feb. 13, was a “small, common earthquake” in a seismically active state, according to officials with the Utah Geologic Survey.
