The Great Depression The Great Depression or the Stock market crash of 1929 started in 1929 and ended in the 1930s. While the Great Depression hit North American and Europe the hardest, other cities worldwide were affected just as much. It was the start of the Second World War that put an end to the devastating effects caused by the Great Depression.
