The War of Freedom

The Declaration of Independence was a declaration of freedom from the British Empire. It was a declaration that the 13 American colonies were a new nation. Interestingly enough, our country's declaration of freedom did not result in peace, which is the absence of war. It resulted in more wars. Similarly, our declaration of salvation is a declaration of freedom from the presence and power of sin. It's a declaration that we are a new creation. And although we are at peace with God, we are at war with Satan. So whether we are talking about our freedom as a nation, or our freedom as a child of God...freedom comes at a price, and it's something we have to fight for until the day we die.
