TRUTH: A Study In 2 Timothy 3 – Part 4: Scripture Equips Christians

Paul tells young Timothy, “God uses scripture to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” If you are not being prepared and equipped to do God’s work, according to scripture, then you are probably a nominal Christian. Nominal means, “in name only.” Jesus makes a shocking statement in the closing of His Sermon on the Mount: “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ Being made complete and equipped by scripture, is a matter of life and death.
