De VS hebben het Iraanse nucleaire programma zwaar beschadigd met luchtaanvallen, maar een cruciale ondergrondse faciliteit (Pickaxe Mountain) blijft buiten bereik. Deze locatie ligt zo diep dat zelfs de zwaarste Amerikaanse bunker-buster bommen haar waarschijnlijk niet kunnen vernietigen.Experts vrezen dat Iran deze plek kan gebruiken om in stilte verder te bouwen aan kernwapens. Tegelijk is er grote onzekerheid over wat zich daar precies bevindt, inclusief mogelijk verborgen voorraden hoogverrijkt uranium.Maarten en Tom bespreken waarom dit zo’n fundamenteel probleem is. Nu de VS en Iran opnieuw onderhandelen, staat er veel op het spel. Een deal moet de sluiting van Pickaxe Mountain afdwingen.
