Message by Todd Crosthwaite, Lead Pastor Nicene Creed a rope that leads us home THE LIFE OF THE WORLD TO COME What is Christian hope? 1) bodily resurrection Philippians 3:20 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23 NT Wright: “Life after life after death” 1 Cor 15:35-36 1 Cor 15:42-44 Resurrection is not an escape from the body; it's the redemption and glorification of the body. 2) new creation Revelation 21:1-5 New creation is this world completed, perfected, transformed. What does this tell us about God? 1) God keeps His promises. 2) God’s promises are always more than we expect. - maybe our view of hope is too small What does this mean for us? It helps us long for the renewal of all things. sehnsucht: mingling of nostalgia and longing; homesickness for a place one has never been Ephesians 5:8 Living now as it will be then. Loving like Jesus loves.
