Wisdom of Women - Power of Pen and Paper: Boost Mental Health and Find Your Voice Through Writing

from Wisdom of Women · host Sherri Hilton

We have the honor of sitting down with an extraordinary guest, Elizabeth Perlman, the visionary founder of the Intuitive Writing Project. Elizabeth’s story is not just one of achievement but also of transformation and resilience. She transitioned from a career in graphic design to discovering her calling—helping young women find their voices through the power of the written word. Defying her struggles with writing and critical academia, she chose writing as her life’s work and hasn't looked back since. In today’s episode, Elizabeth will share how the Intuitive Writing Project provides a sanctuary for teen girls to explore and express their emotions creatively while drawing insightful parallels between the acts of running an organization and the art of writing itself. She’ll dive into the transformative power of writing prompts, the necessity of making space for self-care, and how penning down our questions can summon answers from the universe. But that's not all. We'll discuss the therapeutic values of writing, the importance of self-validation, and the profound impact it can have on mental health and emotional resilience. Elizabeth will also offer advice to future generations of women leaders, emphasizing the need to trust our intuition and the critical role of a supportive community in our personal and professional development. So, brace yourselves, as we're about to embark on a journey that transcends writing; we’ll explore the art of intuition, the validation of emotional wisdom, and the imperative to provide equal opportunities for women's voices to be heard and respected. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
