He is infinitely more intelligent than me, but intelligence falls by the wayside when it comes to anger. We all feel anger. Jamelle posted on TikTok discussing how he hates the idea that the Leader of the Trump Administration is suggesting putting his own signature on the currency. I find this infuriating on another level. Who wants to see his signature while paying for his overpriced gasoline? Good thing I don’t carry or have cash to carry! On Day 370, I talk about the Leader of the Trump Administration addressing the nation on the evening of April Fool’s Day to spread some intimidating bullshit about the war in Iran after spending the morning attending a Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship to try and spread some intimidating bullshit there. Neither of these attempts worked because when you annoy people who you want support from, you end up like Jar Jar Binks pissing off Star Wars fans. Not a good look. On Day 371, I offer sarcastic condolences to former Attorney General of the United States Ms. Pamela Bondi, who, after being fired and having her official portrait thrown in the trash, will now have to find a way to try to make people’s lives miserable in the private sector. I also mention how the Leader of The Trump Administration suggested on his fake Twitter account that Bruce Springsteen should sue his plastic surgeon. I can’t believe I just typed that sentence. On Day 372, I admit I am not totally sure what Easter is, but I actually get it close to correct anyway. I loved how Jay and Silent Bob beat up the Easter bunny in the box office flop turned cult favorite movie, Mallrats. I also know that there is chocolate, hard-boiled eggs, and Jesus involved. Cool. I have no problem with any religion as long as it is not imposed on me. Also, the Leader of The Trump Administration used the eff-word in his Easter message on this day. Cool. On Day 373, I mention a man whom I bring up here often: Penn Jillette of the magic duo Penn & Teller. Penn was discussing the Leader of The Trump Administration's eff-word-filled Easter message and how Penn’s longtime friend, the political commentator and television news host Lawrence O’Donnell, described the moment as an “attack on reality.” I take the optimistic route to remind that out in the streets of my town, people seem to act as if their reality is as boring as it has always been.On Day 374, I have a bit of fun responding to the frequent comment I receive that the Leader of The Trump Administration is quote-unquote “my entire personality.” I don’t get defensive, but I do defend myself a little by pointing out some of my hobbies, interests, and life pursuits, one of which is observing strange human behavior, which, as a writer, is what I am doing here when I comment on the Leader of The Trump Administration. I wrap up the week on Day 375 with a blasphemous twofer. First, the Leader of the Trump Administration publicly attacks the Pope, and then he posts a picture of himself as Jesus. Now, I am an agnostic by default, and I certainly don’t defend the Catholic Church, but I am not going out of my way to denigrate religion or religious figures. For the Leader of the Trump Administration, this seems to be standard behavior, however.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app!Watch a compilation of the daily videos that this week’s episode of the show is based on over at YouTube.Follow The Josh Bloom Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app!+++Support! If you enjoy my work and want to support me, please consider a Substack subscription, or you can Buy Me A Coffee! My book about psych-pop icons and Elephant 6 co-founding band The Apples in Stereo is available now! 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 362-368Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. Hope.“1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” is the series in which I endeavor to remind myself — and you, if you feel like it — to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these challenging 1461 days. We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. I also criticize reporters for not calling this out just so they can have something to talk about. On Day 363, I wonder whether supporters of the Leader of the Trump Administration have ever considered the possibility that they are the marks of a con man. I bring up the twist at the end of the film The Sixth Sense as an analogy for how people sometimes only realize they are being deceived long after the fact. I am sorry if I am spoiling The Sixth Sense for anybody, but as far as spoiling the reveal at the end of the Trump Administration, I think it is better to do that sooner than later. On Day 364, I respond to a commenter who asks if I made similar rants about the previous administration. After correcting this commenter about whether what I do here qualifies as ranting, I explain that criticising the administration is part of being a patriot and that this particular administration deserves it more than any I have ever known. Of course, I probably shouldn’t have taken this commenter’s comment in good faith, but I needed the content. On Day 365, I talk about how the price of my Trump Tariff groceries and Trump War of Choice gas are negatively affecting my artist’s lifestyle. I don’t eat anything very good, and I don’t drive anywhere very interesting, but I am happy anyway, just like Steve Martin in the movie The Jerk, who seems thrilled to be living in the janitor’s closet provided to him by his boss at the gas station. Stay away from the cans. He hates these cans.On Day 366, I talk about two former DOGE bros, the pack of kids hired to fire government workers in the name of cost-cutting. As it turns out, no costs were cut, but these little dudes, while acknowledging this, do not show any concern at all for the lives they threw into chaos. I have said all along that the Trump Administration is a gathering of people who enjoy creating hardship for other people. Luckily, this day also represents the completion of 25% of the 1461 days.On Day 367, I talk about how it is going to get worse before it gets better and how we can concentrate on the getting better part. For a country founded in genocide and slavery, we’re doing pretty well at progress, even if the stench lingers in the air like whatever that dust around the Peanuts character Pigpen smells like. The supporters of the Leader of the Trump Administration will smell it too, and when they do, this will contribute to the eventual turnaround for all of us.On Day 368, I talk about how the political divisiveness we hear about feels different from the reality I experience in my daily life among diverse groups of people. It is not like I don’t believe the Leader of the Trump Administration isn’t trying to divide us, because he likes people to be unhappy, but I also don’t believe that we are so susceptible to suggestion that we are willing to be inconvenienced and annoyed when we’re just trying to drink our cup of coffee. +++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app! I talk about my struggles with sugar and compare it to what I see as his addiction to attention. I imagine a productive and compassionate conversation between us about unmet needs and coping mechanisms. Don’t worry though, I’m not that compassionate. On Day 356, I talk about why I ignored the State of the Union address because I do not trust the dude doing the addressing. I also use this day to pay tribute to Revenge of the Nerds actor Robert Carradine and discuss how that film's very loud character Ogre reminds me of the more unhinged members of the Leader's cult. “Clap your hands, everybody!”On Day 357, I talk about how people sometimes confuse actors with the characters they play. On this day, I use Ben Affleck’s role as a bully in the film Dazed and Confused as an example and compare that to how supporters of the Leader of the Trump Administration may have confused his role as a billionaire in a boardroom on TV with the reality of his role as a destructive force on our nation. On Day 358, I connect a childhood memory of a Beach Boys parody song about Iran to our present-day war there. I talk about how the Leader of the Trump Administration claimed to have halted that country's nuclear program many months ago, but, oops, apparently not. Clearly, Donald’s favorite condiment has been flying lately. On Day 359, I remind you and me both, with my usual optimistic flair, that we are going to have to hit the bottom before we can start to climb back to the top. This thought emerged after I heard a follower of the Leader of the Trump Administration try to justify the bombing of an elementary school in Iran by suggesting the children might have grown up to be terrorists. Typical, and typically deplorable. On Day 360, I celebrate the firing of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and how moments of celebration during this administration tend to be short-lived because loyalty, not competence, is the only real job requirement. I apologize for using images of Krusty The Clown and a generic angry gnome because although I use them for obvious reasons I also feel bad for demeaning Krusty The Clown and a generic angry gnome. On Day 361, I talk about how the Leader of the Trump Administration seems to view who will become the next Supreme Leader of Iran like a game show where people either win or lose, and most people lose. I reflect on the tragedy of dozens of school children losing their lives in the Leader’s war of choice as he blames the press for reporting on it. I apologize ahead of time for dragging Bob Barker and Pat Sajak into this.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app! We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. While Donald’s racism is not surprising, this moment feels important in a specific way because it reminds me that we are nearing the end of his relevance. I have always said he would take us to the bottom and beyond, which is where we can start rebuilding with what he has revealed to us about what we don’t want to be in mind. To be clear, we don’t want to be like one of history’s most despicable human beings, Donald Trump. On Day 349, I talk about the insult “get your money up,” which I have seen used online to shame people who complain about how expensive everything has become. I mention noticing coffee pods priced at $29 at the grocery store and suggest that when we see products that are overpriced out of greed, the answer doesn’t need to be “can’t,” it can be “won’t.” Instead of telling people to get their money up, maybe our incompetent government should focus on getting prices down.On Day 350, I talk about discovering just how popular Bad Bunny really is. I wasn’t aware until he was scheduled to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, and Kid Rock was selected to headline a piece of crap. I also note how upset supporters of the Leader of the Trump Administration were about a Spanish-speaking performer, although I doubt they had a problem eating Mexican food while watching. The contrast between the joy of Bad Bunny’s show and the piece of crap I mentioned earlier is noteworthy. On Day 351, it’s my birthday, and it’s also the day that we reach 24% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump Administration. How about giving me the gift of following the podcast? On this day, I take a moment to explain why I continue this series as a way to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during trying times in our lives that try to steal our time away from living. As I say every day, I am not a self-help guru; I am just trying to help myself. On Day 352, I talk about discovering that Bad Bunny has also appeared as a WWE superstar and my further surprise that more wasn’t made of this when supporters of the Leader of the Trump Administration were protesting his Super Bowl appearance. Professional wrestling brings everyone together, after all. I recall a commentator saying that wrestling fans can always tell who the underdog is and who is abusing power, and how that is a pretty good microcosm of society, because eventually the population figures out who the real heel is. Spoiler: It’s Donald Trump. On Day 353, I remind listeners who Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss are. This mother and daughter are the Atlanta poll workers who were just doing their job as volunteers in our Democracy, and were falsely accused by former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani of helping to rig the 2020 election. Rudy spread hateful, racist lies about them, was sued for defamation, and lost those suits spectacularly. I think about these women often because they represent the best of us, while Rudy now represents what happens when America’s Mayor becomes America’s shithead. On Day 354, I talk about Texas Senate candidate James Talarico and an interview he recorded for the Stephen Colbert program that never aired after pressure from the pussy-ass government. The clip has now been seen by far more people than it would have if it had simply aired on CBS, and I found his comments about loving one’s neighbor in line with my own, even if he is a suspicious Christian. While I also greatly admire his former opponent for the Democratic nomination, Jasmine Crockett, I have a feeling Mr. Talarico may end up winning this seat.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app! We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. The goal with this show — beyond entertainment — is to reclaim that time, regain my mind, and focus on what is important.I am not a self-help guru, I'm just trying to help myself.™+++Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast!Pick your preferred podcast app here: https://pod.link/1866233663+++This week on the show...On Day 341, I talk about the difference between ignoring and ignorance. Some of us are paying attention to the behavior of the Trump administration, while most people are only getting dribs and drabs. That may matter much more later, when the consequences start to reach into the everyday life of people who weren’t paying attention, and those people start to get pretty pissed. On Day 342, I remember the saying, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” As the rhetoric from the Trump Administration leans toward violence, I feel even more resolved to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful. I believe that what is meant to divide us actually pushes us closer together, because most people cannot tolerate seeing others suffer. On Day 343, I remember October 3rd, 2017, the day the leader of the Trump administration trudged to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and tossed paper towels at people whose lives had just been destroyed. At the time it felt like a gross display of callousness, but after everything we have seen since, it almost seems quaint, and also still gross. I reflect on what that moment symbolizes about how he views human suffering. I think it symbolizes that he likes it.On Day 344, I reflect on Bruce Springsteen’s new protest song “Streets of Minneapolis,” which he wrote, recorded, and released in just a few days. Hearing Bruce mention the victims of ICE violence, Alex Pretti and Renee Good, by name brought me to tears. For those despicable members of the Trump administration that Bruce also names, they may still not get what “Born in the U.S.A.” is about, but they will hopefully get bent.On Day 345, I talk about the arrest of journalist Don Lemon while he was covering protests in Minneapolis. My distress over this news only lasts for a moment because this type of behavior follows a familiar pattern of fear, anger, and grievance from the leader of the Trump administration and the people around him who live to lick his off-the-shelf dress shoes clean. When you recognize the pattern, the behavior becomes predictable, and predictable behavior is easier to roll your eyes at. Don’s eyes – not Don Lemon, Don Orange – only roll to look at eclipses. On Day 346, I mention a Federal Election Commission report I heard that shows Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York in the House and Jon Ossoff of Georgia in the Senate as the top fundraisers in Congress for 2025. I anoint these two as representing what I call the “People Who Care About Other People” ticket. This feels right for the moment we are in, and even more so for the moment to come when I hope that Democrats will realize the performative and undefinable “move to the center” is less important than acknowledging, respecting, and listening to the ideas that exist there. On Day 347, I talk about my fascination with observing human behavior. I love to understand why people do what they do and what they might do next. I suggest that the leader of the Trump administration and his followers are not merely liars, but are trapped inside a reality built by their lies. When a person spends a lifetime constructing a false reality, our truth is their fiction. That’s fine if you’re living in an asylum. Not so much when you’re living in the White House. +++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app! 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 334-340Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. Hope.“1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” is the series in which I endeavor to remind myself — and you, if you feel like it — to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these challenging 1461 days. We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. These thoughts were brought about after the murder of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis at the hands of a dude who didn’t get Daddy’s love. Don’t worry, I still believe that humans are compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to prosperity for all. That said, some people are like a bad food court: “straight garbage.”On Day 335, I am contemplating the song “Changes” by David Bowie on the anniversary of his passing. I wonder what it takes to change and how change is the only way I know to keep what has happened in Minneapolis from happening throughout the nation. I acknowledge that change is one of, if not the most, difficult challenges any person can face, especially when it may mean losing friends, family, or even your own identity. If David Bowie could do it, I think I can, too.On Day 336, we celebrate making it to 23% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. I happened to be at the beloved Black Cow Coffee Company on this day, an environment where awesome people are not willing to sacrifice mindfulness, optimism, and hope just because the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration seem to thrive on making people’s lives miserable. I also mention the Jim Carrey film The Number 23 for no reason at all other than the title. On Day 337, I am still thinking about Minneapolis. Of course, my thoughts drift to Prince Rogers Nelson, also known as Prince. I opine about what sexy words he might say about his city today. Frankly, I am sadly satisfied by the idea that he didn’t live long enough to see the shambles. I guess I am glad that the perpetrators of the ruinous behavior we have seen in the city will never be able to appreciate or enjoy the brilliance of Prince or any art or artists. You have to have a heart to connect with art.On Day 338, I contemplate how truly screwed we are, but screwed in a good way! What I mean is that we are going to have to collectively figure out what to do with ourselves once we survive the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, which we will do. Sometimes it feels like there is an assault on our way of seeing the world, but we are learning from this experience, and it will make us all better able to connect with each other on the other side. Maybe!Day 339 falls on the one-year anniversary of my first post in this series. I leave it to you to do the math because I am not good at math, even though I probably would be if I applied myself or cared. I leave that kind of discipline to leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose life we celebrate on this day of the year. I recount a personal story of racism in my neighborhood, not to undermine the positive message, but to remind that to find bigotry, we actually have to look for it, and I am glad that bigotry (and math) still does not feel like it is looking for me.On Day 340, I get a little frustrated as the media continues to not quite get it when it comes to reporting about the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration. I believe there is no governance going on here. There is simply the use of the levers of governance to enact grievance. If the media reports on what appears to be this very simple fact, then they will not have anything else to report on, however, and reporting is a daily endeavor that makes big money. I get it, but I’m going to keep pointing it out.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app! 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 327-333Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. Hope.“1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” is the series in which I endeavor to remind myself — and you, if you feel like it — to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these challenging 1461 days. We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. The goal with this show — beyond entertainment — is to reclaim that time, regain my mind, and focus on what is important.I am not a self-help guru, I'm just trying to help myself.™+++Follow The “1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom” Podcast!Choose Your Preferred Podcast AppThis week on the show...On Day 327, I confess to some klutz-like behavior, or if I am being honest, actual klutz behavior that involves ketchup. Not unlike the unfortunate evening in NYC that I detail on Episode #60 of The Josh Bloom Podcast, this day involves a series of difficult moments that took place one morning, leading up to what a fastidious dude like me, who does not react well to life’s little self-inflicted unforced errors, was not happy about. Stay tuned. On Day 328, a commenter says to me, “Democrats won't be in officer for a long time, get used to it.” That’s right. Freudian slip by this commenter who does not know who Freud is. I had some fun with the use of the word officer, and how when I think of officers, I think of criminals, and when I think of criminals, well… you know. I do offer a slight apology to this commenter before it’s all over.On Day 329, I discuss the recent renaming of the Kennedy Center, or more accurately, the defiling of the Kennedy Center by placing the leader of the Trump administration's name in proximity to JFK’s. My focus on this day is about the artists who have all cancelled their appearances there, and how it is my belief that they have done so for the same reason why I have taken his name off of this podcast. It’s just too gross to be so close. On Day 330, I admit to enjoying watching the leader of the Trump administration melt down like the Wicked Witch of the West, when he posts on his pretend Twitter about how the governor of Colorado is a scumbag and that he would like other elected officials in the state to rot in hell. I also admit that I have thrown a tantrum or three in my day, but I do not remember saying anything about anyone disintegrating with Satan. I guess that’s just me.On Day 331, I refer to Starbucks as “burnt dessert,” and with that, make sweeping judgments of those who walk out of this crumbling coffee culture establishment with what I claim is nothing having to do with coffee. Once I am done doing unto others what I would not want them to do unto me, I get real with the topic of the day, which is financial inequity and how it eats away at the harmony that I believe is at the core of the ideal human experience. Huge topic, huge coffee, huge caloric content. On Day 332, I comment on the leader of the Trump administration’s recent invasion of Venezuela to capture its leader – and his fellow dictator – in an effort to steal the country’s oil, which he has done and appears to be personally profiting from at this time. But that’s not what interests me. As a hobby observer of human behavior, I am more fascinated with the idea that the leader of the Trump administration is just licking his wounds over not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded to the leader of the opposition coalition in Venezuela, who has not been allowed to assume power. Don’t get lost in the sauce. This is only about Donald’s boo-boos.Speaking of boo-boos, we wrap up the week on Day 333 with a continuation of the previous day’s ideas that remind me of Yogi Bear's cartoon sidekick. I take some pride in beating the Washington Post to the scoop that Venezuela was indeed about the Nobel Peace Prize. As it was revealed, the leader of the opposition coalition in Venezuela, which has not been allowed to assume power, also found herself feeling as if she was not allowed to keep her non-transferable Nobel Peace Prize.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app! Days 320-326
1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 320-326Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. Hope.“1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” is the series in which I endeavor to remind myself — and you, if you feel like it — to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these challenging 1461 days. We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. The goal with this show — beyond entertainment — is to reclaim that time, regain my mind, and focus on what is important.I am not a self-help guru, I'm just trying to help myself.™+++Follow The “1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom” Podcast!Choose Your Preferred Podcast AppThis week on the show...On Day 320 I am reminded of the song “Take It To The Limit” by Eagles – not The Eagles – because I am reminded that the leader of the Trump Administration is taking us to the bottom, if there even is a bottom anymore, but when we get there we will know in full what it is like when we put people in power who indulge their worst impulses and empower and encourage their followers to do the same. Why am I pointing this out on a podcast that I say is about being positive? Stay tuned!Day 321 is for celebrating 22 because on Day 321, we are 22% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. I mention on this day the disgusting and vile comments that the leader of the Trump administration made about the tragic murder of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, and how Rob reminds me of a tangential connection to the number 22. Stay tuned to hear what I’m thinking about that, but for now, let me remind you that when we reach milestones, it is time to reup our commitment to mindfulness, optimism, and hope.On Day 322, I get to have a little bit of fun with a commenter who thoughtfully asks, “What’s it like to let someone control your everyday life?” and, although I am not a religious person, I do often wonder what it is like for people who give their lives over to the Lord – or a Lord – which obviously leads me to also wonder, in this case, why a follower of the leader of the Trump administration so willingly and blindly abides by all of this man’s misdeeds while at the same insinuating that it is me who is under the spell of this bag of bones. Like I said, I had a little bit of fun.On Day 323, we address a very pressing issue among followers of the leader of the Trump administration, and that is whether you are an alpha or a beta. There is a third option that I bring up, which you will have to stay tuned to hear about. I had never heard of this popular rage-bait topic until recently, and I was thoroughly bored when I did. We discuss how these so-called alpha males don’t seem to realize how their delusional sense of self can be interrupted in an instant by the realities of life. Oh, those poor instant betas. On Day 324, we discuss plaque, and yes, I am talking about oral hygiene. But once I am done detailing my own experience with my dentist and destistry, we quickly move along to why and how this has to do with the leader of the Trump administration. I can’t speak to whatever the hell is going on in this rotting dude’s mouth, but I can speak to the stupid plaques he put up at the White House to disparage former presidents because, of course he did. These are the actions of an asshole. See how much more I can say on this dedicated podcast!Day 325 is one of my favorite days in the series. I address a commenter named Drummer Jimmy71, who is a drummer in a Def Leppard tribute band. I tease him, telling him that I am impressed with his dedication to authenticity by removing one of his arms to emulate, impersonate, and accurately portray Def Leppard’s actual drummer, Rick Allen. This drumming disciple of the leader of the Trump administration told me the next day that he loved the video. That made me feel good.On Day 326, we wrap up the week with me coining the word “depreshing,” a combination of depression and depressing that I said accidentally and liked. Stay tuned for a discussion of this word that I hope you will consider incorporating into your own vocabulary, and if you are a marketing person, into your daily corporate speak. The reason I felt “depreshed” was because of the holidays, which I hate. If you hate them too, I hope you will be able to relate to what I am saying, and if you don’t, maybe buy me a coffee to convince me otherwise.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app! Do you remember Ranking Roger? He is one half of the synthy, new-wavey, geeky duo General Public from the 80s. I invoke their hit song “Tenderness” because I am of the belief that we are about to enter an era of tenderness and subsequently togetherness. Somehow, this develops into a discussion of tenderizing steaks. I hope not to lose the non-meat eaters in the crowd, but please cut me a little slack, and it will all make sense.Speaking of tenderness, on Day 314, I comment on the one campaign promise that the leader of the Trump administration remembered to keep, and that is regarding the 1600 pardons he gave to the J6 rioters. That’s about as tender as it gets! I opine on the idea that the leader of the Trump administration thinks of these rioters as his children, and he is only protecting them. In fact, I believe that these criminals, who did not pay for the crimes that he egged on, love him more than his own biological children. On Day 315, I get a little deep on the subject of self-reflection and how this is difficult for everyone, but especially, it seems, for the leader of the Trump administration, who appears to make it a practice to never reflect. I am sometimes accused of obsessing about this topic, but I do not think it is strange to wonder if the person whose words and deeds are so consequential to the future of humanity ever thinks about those words and deeds before they are said and did.On Day 316, I get to chat with a commenter named Big John 0482, who not only calls the leader of the Trump administration a God, but he adds five exclamation points to that statement. After acknowledging Big John’s passion, however, I feel the need to question why he only refers to the leader of the Trump administration as merely “a” God. Then I am, of course. reminded of General Zod from the film Superman II, and the day gets derailed from there. Stay tuned if you dare!On Day 317, if you’re feeling pessimistic about the chances that non-believers in the Leader of The Trump Administration and the Trump administration have in upcoming elections, which I must remind you will be held in case you are deep into a depression like me, not really, I discuss the recent historic wins for democracy, but more realistically, sanity. On this day, I happened to be in NYC, a rare occurrence to be sure these days. I discuss this day at length on Episode 60 of The Josh Bloom Podcast. Please be sure to follow!Day 318 has me discussing the horrific news about the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, and the disgusting comments about it that followed from the Leader of the Trump administration. Beyond the obvious sadness of this event, I felt the need to acknowledge that when I heard the news, my first thought was that this must have been political or religious violence or both. We are living in scary times when it comes as a relief that a double homicide is likely the act of a mentally ill family member. I continue to believe that we will be better for what we are going through right now.We wrap up the week on Day 319 with me wondering about indifference and intolerance. I continue to observe that people are generally good to one another, but the little things matter, too. If a person never uses a turn signal while out on the road, to me, this non-signal is a signal that says, “I am the only person who matters.” I always wonder if a person like this is indifferent to all of the other drivers out on the road; what are they like in the rest of their lives? They are probably like the leader of the Trump Administration, who doesn’t even know about turn signals because he only drives a golf cart.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app! 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 306-312Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. I wrote my first book – a bio on the iconic indie-pop, psych-rock band The Apples in Stereo, which was just published by J-Card Press. If you like the way I frame the political world here, then you will like the way I frame the music world there. At the risk of sounding hypocritical when it comes to capitalism, I recommend choosing your preferred retailer at applesbook.comOn Day 307, we turn 21. I don’t even remember turning 21 because I left home at 18 and was already deep into the kind of trouble that less-damaged people wait until 21 for. I remember 21 on this day, however, because we are now 21% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. I speculate, based on accidentally seeing yet another troubling photograph of the leader of the Trump administration, that I might end up having to retitle this series before we even get to 22%.Day 308 is vocabulary day. I discuss the word “churlish,” which is a word I use to describe the leader of the Trump administration. I wonder if he knows this word. Somehow, I doubt it, but it is a perfect word to describe him. Listen and find out if you are not already familiar. Since this day also fell on the first Monday back to work after Thanksgiving, I offer some words of encouragement, as well. “Churlish” is not one of them!Day 309 is dedicated to the topic of fighting with family at Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, it is essentially a cliché at this point that families have become bitterly divided over politics. On this day, I suggest ways in which those who are dwelling on the aftermath of those arguments can consider these situations from perspectives that allow us to persevere with purpose. I believe that anyone who has fallen victim to this current climate can recover. On Day 310, I address a commenter, which frankly I am going to have to do less of, because TikTok penalizes me for that, which you will hear more about on Day 311. I get pretty heady with this commenter and claim that free will does not exist. I go on to explain that every moment of my life and his has led to this meeting. It is pretty magical, I’m not going to lie, and that’s why I manage to squeeze in a reference to R2-D2 and suggest that this commenter and I may cross paths again one day on the planet of Tatooine. As mentioned, on Day 311, I take to referring to the series you are listening to now by a new, non-threatening name: “1461 Days of Ignoring Someone’s Something.” Apparently, the pending exchange of ownership hands by TikTok has triggered a ramp-up of methods to keep the leader of the Trump administration from having his feelings hurt. Of course, this could be my own paranoia, and as a stalwart advocate of the arts, I ceased my self-censorship the very next day. Today, though, you can share in my frustration. On Day 312, I go right back to goofing on the subject in question and the inherent hypocrisy of referring to Joe Biden as “Sleepy Joe” while we watch Donald J. Trump sleep through a cabinet meeting that he himself called. Would you do this? No. You have too much dignity. Of course, hypocrisy is a way of life for people like these, but I do wonder why no one simply says, “Hey man, it’s not like you or I care because we are here to do damage anyway, but maybe we should come up with an alternative plan to go with our alternative facts that might include not sleeping on camera.”+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app!
