Secret Wax Battles -- C.L. Smooth VS. SURPRISE Mystery Opponent [Prod. by Carlos Hassan & J. Noack]
Secret Wax Battles -- C.L. Smooth VS. SURPRISE Mystery Opponent [Prod. by Carlos Hassan & J. Noack] is meant to be a surprise you can share with your friends.Please. Do not ruin it for them.------- ------- ------- ------- ------- ------- -------Secret Wax BattlesEpic Collaborations By Elite Emcees — Re-Imagined Peace, Future Fetuses. Before we begin, if you’d like a chance to contribute to the vote on what mix from my vaults I’m gonna post next, check the end of my previous episode and either leave a comment or email The Real Ford4D at GGGG MAAAIL DOHT CEE-O-EHM. Anyway:This mix was inspired by my love for first listening experiences and SCRiBE The Verbalist. I specifically crafted it to give at least a certain percentage of the world a happy moment of discovery.Secret Wax Battles -- C.L. Smooth VS. SURPRISE Mystery Opponent [Prod. by Carlos Hassan & J. Noack] is meant to be a surprise you can share with your friends.Please. Do not ruin it for them. You know what? I’m gonna go back and paste that at the top as a warning. After the C.L.’s DOPE verse, use the brief interlude to ask yourself this question: WHO IS THE SURPRISE MYSTERY OPPONENT? I’ve got to get going, so I’ll just leave it at that.Oh shit, I guess I should mention that both rappers on this mix actually rapped over this exact beat on a track together, only in a different order. No Biggie Duets type remixing here, no sir. I just took the track apart and put it back together again, then threw just a dash of extra flava in at the end.Much respect to C.L. Smooth, Carlos Hassan, J. Noack, and everyone else who participated in the original track. I had to leave your names out to not give a huge hint to all the fans I’m trying to surprise. I’m sorry. However, your names are listed on the secret back cover embedded inside the track. So readers, with that in mind...Please. Do not ruin the surprise for yourself!Peace!Secret shout out to I-Born & Herb McGruff!

DJ 4D Files_2010-03-12 15_45_34 ["I Put The Pow In The Wow Like Gun To The Powder, Give The Hardcore…"] (Stuck On A Train #3)
Wha wha?! How y’all doin?So somehow I thought I’d have a chance to post this sooner, but oh well, at least it’s out now!To recap:While I was stuck on a delayed commuter train from Boston to Providence, I had the opportunity to mess around with the digital turntables and at the same time listen to a few tracks I hadn’t heard yet. This is the last of the three mixes which resulted.DJ 4D Files_2010-03-12 15_45_34 ["I Put The Pow In The Wow Like Gun To The Powder, Give The Hardcore…"] really surprised me when I first listened to it a day or two later. I was walking down Benefit Street to meet my boy Jon, headphones on.Suddenly, I went from analyzing this kinda-atmospheric, experimental improvisation to WOAAAH! RAPPERS MOTHERFUCKAAA!I was vibing to this shit HARD! Not only couldn’t I remember making this shit (aside from the odd experience of trying to both digi-scratch and accommodate frequent passers-by at the same time), in truth I didn’t remember the material either!! So even though it was technically my second time listening to these songs, the whole mix felt brand new!!!I was like “Oh shit, KEITH MURRAY & REDMAN DOING IT’S MY THANG... w/ BOTH OF EPMD TOO?! THIS IS AMAZING!!!”I really couldn’t believe I had made this. I was hyped with double-exclamation points!! I had a new favorite mix to listen to, some shit that I like just for me.But now you can enjoy it too! Now that I’ve finally finished the Stuck On A Train series, I can start to release some of my other mixes, from both before and after this session. So what do you think? Should I start with BEFORE or AFTER? Both the mix that precedes DJ 4D Files_2010-03-12 14_05_12 [Jay Dee (J-Dilla) Tribute All Beats By Madlib] and the mix after this one are possibilities. If you don’t like this mix -- even in the slightest -- you’re crazy! Go buy music, yo!! Shout out to Rake, thanks for blessing the internet with your compilation.Much respect to Redman, Keith Murray, Eric Sermon & Parrish of EPMD, Method Man, DJ Clue?, Funkmaster Flex, Icadon, & DJ Revolution.Peace!Shout out 2 Geno! And also to StackADollar. And Pablo Picasso. PS: Jon, still don’t leak your early copy!

I Can't Believe I Missed The Root's Show! (Stuck On A Train #2)
FUCK!!Uhg.I bet you guys had TONS of fun. IDK why I thought it was after the BBQ and thus next weekend. Not only that, but earlier when I first tried to post this, my computer shutdown. SAVE OFTEN!Since I had written a lot, this time I’m gonna try to keep it more brief. To recap from the previous post:While I was stuck on a delayed commuter train from Boston to Providence, I had the opportunity to mess around with the digital turntables and at the same time listen to a few tracks I hadn’t heard yet. This is the second of the three mixes which resulted.DJ 4D Files_2010-03-12 15_21_52 [Roots->Redman] was titled soon after I created it. At the time it seemed like a concise and descriptive title that could quickly remind me which mix this is. I hadn’t thought about releasing it.In fact, for a long time I had no intention of releasing this mix. Even though I really do enjoy listening to it because of all these wonderful passages and moments that I quite simply love, there are also parts which I’m sure other people just won’t like. Sorry! So no, this isn’t my definitive The Roots & Redman mix or anything like that. It’s just a part of the series, and a part which I have been procrastinating to release since May at that. The next R&R mix will be dope tho!Even if you don’t like this mix in the slightest, go support thee musicians!Much respect to The Roots & Redman.Peace!Seriously, how did I miss this show? FUCK! PS: Check the track’s hidden embedded images. Sorry Pac is hard 2 see.

Jay Dee (J-Dilla) Tribute All Beats By Madlib (Stuck On A Train #1)
While I was stuck on a delayed commuter train from Boston to Providence, I had the opportunity to mess around with the digital turntables and at the same time listen to a few tracks I hadn’t heard yet. This is the first of the three mixes which resulted.DJ 4D Files_2010-03-12 14_05_12 [Jay Dee (J-Dilla) Tribute All Beats By Madlib] was titled before I learned that J. Rocc also contributed to this batch of Beat Konducta beats, and as such is reflected in the embedded alternative cover.Initially, I was just messing around, but a sense of reverence kicked in and my mixing strategy changed. You can tell, it occurs rather early on. In truth, the mixing wasn’t all that hard, Madlib already did most of the work for me. Thank you!If you like this mix even the slightest, you should go pick up the original source material. Then you can go make your own mix! Plus it’s got much better sound quality and plays for longer.Much respect to James D. Yancey & Otis Jackson Jr..Jaylib Forever!I still remember getting into trouble Freshman year at RISD for playing track 2 off my Jaylib CD too loud. McNasty Filth!

DJ 4D Files_2010-05-16 12_39_04
DJ 4D Files_2010-05-16 12_39_04 is a combination of DJ 4D Files_2010-05-16 11_44_25 [fun with Machine Gun Funk DJ Premier Remix Redman Version] and DJ 4D Files_2010-05-16 12_05_57 [more fun with Machine Gun Funk DJ Premier Remix Redman Version],mixed together live, just having fun, with some of the source material then over-dubbed over itself at around 6:50, in order to thicken the sound of and pay homage to the original Notorious B.I.G. and Easy Mo Bee composition.Much respect to Christopher “Frank White” Wallace.

Guru Tribute Rough Take #285
(UPDATE: For people who were a bit confused, that is not me rapping on the first track. I just DJed this.)DJ 4D Files_2010-04-28 23_5.m4aMany of the previous 284 takes are extremely short, either because I wasn’t satisfied from the beginning or because I hit the record button too many times. This is by no means perfect or close enough to what I was trying to achieve. At least to me.In truth the only reason I already have showed it to anybody is because at least on this take I’m close to satisfied with how I performed the intro. If anything, this is here to illustrate a general idea of the routine I’ve been working on.You can see another, much longer example here.(Of all the other 382 or so takes I’ve done, which rarely go longer than about three and a half mins, this one is by far the longest.)Both of these mixes feel more like steps than anything to me, but I just really needed to at least get place-holder mixes out there for now.Right now, I’m learning to live with my imperfections, and I feel like part of that means putting out mixes where I might hesitate here or there for a sec. I hope to replace them with a better take before the end of the year, and through that illustrate my growth.

Part III in a Three Pt. series! Huh?But what happe-That’s right!!It’s Dr. Wily’s Revenge! And this time, Mega Man doesn’t stand a chance!MWA HA HA HA! (I love being invincible!!)“But Ford!” you say. “You’re messing up the canonical order of releases! You can’t put out Dr. Wily’s Revenge before you’ve completed the Going Crazy series, much less in an order that isn’t chronolog-SILENCE!How dare you question my Chrono-Logic?!You should be grateful I already leaked the Artwork for Going Crazy Pt. II & Pt. III (and that I’ve already grown arrogant and drunk with power). Not that there IS in fact a REAL Going Crazy Pt. III. That’s why I haven’t italicized the Pt. III yet -- for all you clever bastards who’ve been paying attention.Wait a minute....

Going Crazy Pt. I [Alt Mix3]
So I decided to finally release Going Crazy Pt. I, albeit very mp3 compressed and in a slightly altered form.Don’t ask what happened to the other mixes. We don’t talk about them anymore....Heh... heh-heh... heh....Sooooo.... how about those Mets, eh?Be on the look out for Going Crazy Pt. II!(And then perhaps MAYBE a Pt. III, if the pre-leaked Art is any indication of what I’ll be releasing in the future). No guarantees on what kind of mix of Pt. II will be released, tho.You may very well end up just getting the Upside-Down Panda Mix.Or theAngry-Face-Kirby-Flipping-Sum1-Off Mix. (> .~_~.)•*• 0_0Man does Kirby look pissed!

Vine Whip (Rob E Live Preview Version)
Previously a 4DFoundation.com Exclusive, from the album Highly Experimental 4D Pre-Mixes.They’re called Pre-Mixes not so much because they haven’t been mixed -- which for Vine Whip is incidentally true -- but rather because they’re Mixes which Pre-date the final compositions, and thus are sequenced in an Highly Experimental temporary order. And this one’s called Vine Whip ‘cause that’s what it sounded like to me when I was punching out a Live Preview to share with my friend Rob E.Although I have to admit that sometimes all I can hear when I listen to this is Pac-Man’s ghost....Eventually I’m going to release a finished version with a parenthetical title -- like (Space Lasers!).It will come packaged with special Pre-fabricated Happy Meals Toys, to be sold exclusively at the McDonald's they’re going to build on the moon.
