His Grace Is Enough, Session 3, "The Empowerment of Grace"
The most empowering truth you can know is that your life is hidden with Jesus in God. Your life is not what you see in the flesh. Your life is who you are in Christ. That is your spiritual identity. You are a new creation in Christ! We can now look “full in His wonderful face,” and when that happens, we are transformed into His image from glory to glory. And the divine instrument of that transformation is the Holy Spirit from within. Can you hear His voice saying to you, “You are forgiven! You’re not guilty anymore, You’re not filthy anymore. I love you, mercy is yours. You’re not broken anymore. You’re not captive anymore. You are spotless; you are holy; you are faultless; you are whole; You are righteous; You are blameless; You are pardoned; You are mine.” Can you set your mind on things above where your life is hidden in Christ? First Adam brought in sin; Last Adam brought in righteousness! In one fell swoop, one man sinned and brought judgment and condemnation and death to all of us. In one fell swoop, one Man (who never sinned) obeyed by dying our death on the cross resulting in the free gift of His righteousness for everyone who simply believes! What we gained in Christ’s obedience at the cross far exceeds what we lost in Adam’s disobedience in the garden. It’s not merely that we are forgiven, but over and above being forgiven, the righteousness of Jesus Christ is put to our account. We have moved from a prison of sin, to a prison of righteousness.
