Staying Power 05-13-26 Why We Hold Ourselves Back

Episode 121: “Why We Hold Ourselves Back” What if the biggest limits in your life aren’t external — but internal? In this episode of Staying Power, Ashley and JD explore the science behind scarcity and abundance mindsets, and why our brains are wired to play it safe — often at the cost of growth. Drawing from neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and performance research, they unpack how past experiences shape our sense of what’s possible, why we self-sabotage, and how to expand our thinking in grounded, practical ways. Because abundance isn’t about wishful thinking — it’s about changing what you see, what you attempt, and what you allow. Be sure to visit our sponsor, the amazing people at parsrenovation.com!

Talk Cosmos 05-10-26 Taurus Sagittarius Moon Phases

Join Talk Cosmos, Sunday 10 MAY 2026, 1–2 p.m. PDT as we explore the “TAURUS SAGITTARIUS MOON PHASES” on the upcoming New and Full Moon. This month’s pair of lunations asks us to assess rejected parts of ourselves to become avenues of wisdom we share with others. The Taurus New Moon on May 16 begins an adjustment and activation process of accepting wounded areas of our identity. It involves putting an end to old scripts of what we thought we were or not. Instead, we begin making daily adjustments on how to activate our thinking in order to allow excluded parts to be in service of others. Effectively healing our perspective of how we use our wounds into a resourceful identity. The Sagittarius Full Moon works to reframe a perspective belief pattern. To reclaim the entire parts of our independent diversity. Because it contributes to creating our identity. The May 31 blooming lunation begins a synthesizing process of shifting parts once isolated to be accepted within. Then to repurpose into creating an identity embracing unification of all of oneself. One that voices a new holistic emotional story. The Essence of the Luminary Talk Cosmos, in the second week of each month, focuses on capturing the Moon’s essence during its New and Full phases. As our most personal planet, the Moon regulates the past as it flows into the present, allowing us to experience emotions, habits, and feelings. Ultimately, it helps us piece together the meaningfulness of our life story. Each month offers the energetic input needed to grow, heal, and develop creating in mind, body, heart, and spirit. Mastering Modern Success: Jared Laurence on Coaching, Relationships, and Masculinity

In this deep-dive episode of The Glen Gilbert Connection, Glen sits down with Jared Laurence, founder of Modern Success, to dismantle the myths surrounding the life-coaching industry and modern dating. The conversation provides a transparent look at what truly makes an effective mentor, emphasizing that real authority comes from decades of experience and proven results rather than just certifications or "benefit-focused" sales pitches. Laurence pulls back the curtain on the "three pillars" approach used by many coaches, urging men to look past marketing buzzwords and demand clear, tangible features and deliverables before investing in their personal growth. Beyond the business of coaching, the discussion pivots to a raw analysis of masculinity and its role in modern relationships. Laurence challenges the prevailing "red pill" narrative that suggests looks and money are the only factors in attraction, arguing instead that "game"—the ability to genuinely connect and communicate—is the ultimate equalizer. The podcast also tackles the importance of vetting one's own mindset, identifying "bad fits" such as those indoctrinated by toxic philosophies or those who harbor resentment toward women. By focusing on empathy, ethics, and a brotherhood of mutual support, this episode serves as a roadmap for men looking to navigate the complexities of dating while maintaining their integrity and authentic self. Story U Talk Radio 05-07-26 My #1 Key Strategy for Neurodivergent Individuals

Many people fear that a learning diagnosis or label will keep them from their dreams at becoming an author. It's very popular, it seems, to be among the many who are verifiably neurodivergent. Somewhere in time, it became important to you or a system to label you. Did that help? For many of my students, it has caused stagnation and depression. For others, it's helped them feel as though a mystery was solved. Yet when it comes to your writing, you can and will succeed the more you get to know your brain. As a writing instructor, I help people understand: You'll exhaust yourself trying to change your brain. I suggest you get to know it. Make friends with your brain. Today I'll help you with new approaches and strategies. During today's show, I referred to an interview with author and coach, Michael Neill, and how I'm loving the "writing buddy" system offered in his class, titled, "So You want to Write a Book?" He and I had a conversation recently at Story U - check out the show link below. The Loretta Brown Show - 05-07-26 - Into The light

Today, Loretta welcomes Dr. Scott Taylor who is a pioneer in the exploration of consciousness and near-death experiences, uniquely bridging the worlds of personal experience, academic research, and spiritual teaching. His life changed dramatically following a shared-death experience (SDE) in which he simultaneously perceived himself present in the physical world and in the Light with loved ones transitioning beyond. This extraordinary moment became the foundation of a decades-long journey to understand the nature of consciousness, the nonphysical universe, and what lies beyond death. Dr. Taylor has served as President and Executive Director of The Monroe Institute, where he trained individuals in expanded states of awareness using binaural beat technology. With over 35 years of experience, he has developed practical, safe methods to help others explore realms similar to those described by near-death experiencers. He is also affiliated with International Association for Near-Death Studies, contributing to research and education on near-death phenomena. As the creator of the Into the Light meditation series, Dr. Taylor has guided thousands into profound inner experiences—meeting guides, exploring the “tunnel,” and reconnecting with loved ones beyond the veil. His work offers not just theory, but lived experience—inviting us to ask one of humanity’s deepest questions: What is consciousness, really—and does it ever end? Episode 120: What Irritates You...Might Be You Why do certain people get under our skin so easily? In this episode of Staying Power, Ashley and JD explore the psychology behind our negative reactions to others — and how those reactions often reflect something within ourselves. Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, and contemplative traditions, they unpack projection, conditioning, and emotional triggers — and how learning to recognize them can lead to greater self-awareness, compassion, and growth. LHMF 05-12-26 Saving the Sloths

This past week (late April/early May 2026) we’ve seen numerous stories about sloths that were lost during what was supposed to be preparation for a new exhibit/destination in Florida called Sloth World. It came to light that many of the sloths died due to a combination of poor travel conditions, failure to keep a proper climate in their holding areas, and digestive upsets. This exhibit will now NOT be opening due to what has happened, and Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens is currently working ‘round the clock to save the remaining sloths. I want to encourage anyone who has a heart for these precious, magical little animals to visit one of the three websites shown here and learn more and even to donate if you are so inclined: www.slothconservation.org www.jaguarrescue.foundation www.centralfloridazoo.org Everything helps. Let’s support those helping our wildlife, and let’s also work to educate more people about the specific challenges some of these species are facing.

Talk Cosmos 05-03-26 Mars Chiron 28° Aries

Join us on Talk Cosmos, Sunday 3 MAY 2026, 1–2 p.m. PDT (4-5 p.m. EDT) for an inquisitive discussion on “Mars Chiron 28° Aries”. Relocated to Seattle, Astrologer Tara Aal returns to join host Sue 'Rose' Minahan and panel member Dr. Laura Tadd. Chiron: The Wounded Healer:  Chiron's 50½-year orbit marks a profound rite of passage — a reckoning with our deepest wounds and the wisdom they carry. In myth, Chiron was abandoned at birth, raised by Apollo, and became a Master Healer — yet was struck by a poison arrow he himself had taught others to make. Unable to heal his own wound, he surrendered his immortality to free Prometheus. Zeus immortalized him among the stars. The wound that cannot be cured becomes our greatest gift by sharing our experienced wisdom in service with others. Chiron's 8-year transit through Aries touches on identity at its most primal — the becoming of selfhood, the right to exist as we are. Wounds here often begin at birth itself. Globally, the question echoes: Who belongs? What is a nation's true identity? The December 21, 2025, square with Jupiter in Cancer drew us back to our earliest roots — childhood, family, ‘belonging’. The energies asked how those old wounds shaped who we believe ourselves to be. May 16th, 2026, Aries ruler Mars conjuncts Chiron at 28° Aries. As Chiron’s 8-year transit in Aries nears its completion, this meeting falls on the Taurus New Moon. Mars empowers our will, while Taurus grounds us in emotional self-trust and self-reliance. The celestial sky map turns our focus inward: what parts of ourselves have we excluded, denied, or left wounded — and what would it mean to finally include them whole? By summer 2026, Jupiter enters Leo and Chiron moves into Taurus — an invitation to build something lasting from all that has been transformed. The wound is not the end of the story. TARA AAL:  An eclectic astrologer, writer, educator, artist, and tarot reader from Seattle — and co-author of Astrology by Moonlight and Natural Astrology. Since 2011, Tara’s consulted, taught, and spoken at the Living Astrologies Conference, NORWAC, UAC, Kepler College, and ISAR. Building community is important to her. She nurtures it in the small groups moving through my private classes, and Astrology Essentials program. Tara also facilitate workshops with colleagues Stephanie Phillips and Walter Jager weaving together Jungian ideas, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and astrology. As an IFS-informed astrologer, her approach is human-first, embodied, imaginal, and experiential — helping to open and deepen relationships with our selves (our inner multiplicity) and each other. One of Tara’s great passions is Living Planets 1st, an active, living astrological ritual for bringing out the planets within and without. She currently serves as Ethics Chair for CAPISAR. LAURA TADD: A spiritually oriented psychological astrologer, Dr. Tadd works as an astrological counselor, writer, teacher, and lecturer both in-person and remotely with people worldwide. Laura teaches 6–8-week online courses on astrology and personal mythology and co-facilitates retreats internationally. Creator of “Moon Journal”. DAMTT Veranda Beach, Badges, and Tall Boys

Eric, TG (the girlfriend) and Gertie are finally (probably) going to visit Veranda Beach! It’s especially exciting since Veranda Beach is our new show sponsor; it’s easy to promote something you already love! What Stacy DOESN’T love is eye doctors that suggest blepharoplasty and dress shopping. Eric had been “dating” himself by going alone to concerts, including seeing The Wedding Present and Art Brut. When it comes to how they spend their free time, Stacy and Eric are an odd couple which also happens to be Stacy’s Cultural Blindspot this week – The Odd Couple movie based on a Neil Simon play. While Stacy yucked it up, Eric found the Treasure of The Sierra Madre which is another movie on the AFI’s list of 100 American films to see. Both movies were recommended to watch even if the score of the latter movie was meh. Eric also recommends DTF Saint Lewis which is not what you might expect. As for the weekly debate, there’s no debate, however base it may seem, women prefer tall men. You could argue all others get the short stick! Staying Power 04-29-26 The Power of Saying Goodbye

Episode 119: The Power of Saying Goodbye Goodbyes come in many forms — sudden loss, long illness, the end of a relationship, or even the quiet realization that a part of ourselves no longer fits. In this episode of Staying Power, Ashley and JD explore the emotional and neurological reality of saying goodbye. Why is it so hard? Why do we sometimes avoid it? And what gifts can emerge when we allow ourselves to fully experience endings? Drawing from neuroscience, grief research, and lived experience, they reflect on how goodbyes shape identity, deepen meaning, and ultimately make room for growth. Because every ending… carries something forward.

Mother’s Justice Show With Rev. Harriett Walden 04-27-26 Omari hosts-guest-Arron Murphy-Paine

Arron Murphy-Paine, a community leader, activist, and the CEO of Amarr's Heart Foundation hopped on the mic to discuss the current state of gun violence in the region, his foundation’s upcoming events, and to bring awareness that the murder of his son, Amarr Murphy-Paine, is still unsolved. After Amarr was murdered outside Garfield High School in 2024, Arron transformed his grief into a mission for violence prevention and community service. He founded Amarr's Heart Foundation to honor his son's legacy through the motto K.I.N.D. (Kind Interaction Negates Destruction). Arron is a vocal advocate for victims, identifying gaps in the city's support ecosystem and showing us the need for proactive, grassroots-level intervention rather than reactive measures. While his son’s murder remains unresolved, he emphasized the community’s power in changing that. Amarr’s Heart Foundation is hosting the first annual Chalk & Talk on Thursday, June 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Garfield High School, 400 23rd Ave, Seattle.

DAMTT- Bootys, Baby, and Date Night Ideas

Eric heard a song from the elusive “Booty Jamz” compilation while at the grocery store which reminds them of the revelation about what B stands for at HEB grocery stores. He also learned that DJ Casper and Mr. C are the same person – Willie Perry Jr. And speaking of dance, shout out to the Hungarian politician who danced like no one was dancing, it’s tough doing your own thing when dancing unless it’s a 15 second TikTok dance! Stacy attended Cornyation for San Antonio’s annual Fiesta which was almost as spicy as the bumper stickers Eric saw recently. For their Cultural Blindspots segment, Stacy shares that she saw Bringing Up Baby and Room. The first was an old classic screwball romcom while the second was a more recent true crime-like thriller, both were good. Meanwhile Eric watched Gus Van Sant’s remake of Psycho which was less good despite an almost shot for shot redo; the casting may be the issue. He also explored another Sam Raimi directed movie with a stacked cast, The Quick & The Dead which was awesome! As for “date night,” there was some debate on whether you still go on dates once you’re in a relationship, but Stacy and Eric can agree that it doesn’t need to be complicated, it just needs to be fun. The Loretta Brown Show - 04-23-26 - Zen Caregiving

Today, Loretta welcomes Roy Remer who is the author of Zen Caregiving: How to Care for Yourself While Caring for Others, a compassionate and practical guide designed to support caregivers through one of life’s most meaningful—and often overwhelming—roles. With nearly three decades of experience as an educator and end-of-life caregiver, Roy has dedicated his life to helping individuals navigate illness, aging, grief, and loss with greater presence, clarity, and emotional resilience. He is the Executive Director of the Zen Caregiving Project in San Francisco, where he also serves as the lead creator of the Mindful Caregiving Education curriculum. Through this work, Roy has helped train thousands of caregivers—both professional and family members—offering tools rooted in mindfulness, compassion, and self-awareness to support emotional well-being in the caregiving journey. Roy began his caregiving work at the Zen Hospice Project, where he witnessed firsthand the profound emotional, spiritual, and physical challenges caregivers face—often long before end-of-life care begins. This experience inspired him to create programs that support caregivers earlier in the process, helping them develop the inner resources needed to remain steady, compassionate, and resilient over time. In Zen Caregiving, Roy offers a path that goes beyond caregiving techniques. He addresses the emotional realities caregivers face—such as grief, anxiety, guilt, and compassion fatigue—and provides simple, accessible practices to help quiet the mind, cultivate presence, and reconnect with inner steadiness. His work emphasizes that self-care is not optional, but essential—and that true caregiving arises not from depletion, but from awareness, balance, and compassion. At its heart, Roy’s message is both practical and deeply spiritual: that caregiving, while often challenging, can also be a profound path of connection, growth, and meaning—one that invites us to meet life, and ourselves, with greater presence and love. Staying Power 04-22-26 People Are Not Products

Episode 118: People Are Not Products In a world of apps, profiles, and endless options, it’s easy to start treating relationships like products — evaluating people based on what they offer, how they “fit,” and whether they meet our criteria. In this episode of Staying Power, Ashley and JD explore how modern relationship culture has drifted toward a transactional, performance-driven mindset — and how that shift is quietly undermining authentic connection. Drawing on psychology, sociology, and relationship research, they unpack why real relationships are inherently messy, unpredictable, and growth-oriented — and why that’s exactly what makes them meaningful. Because people aren’t products. And connection isn’t a transaction.

Talk Cosmos 04-19-26 Mars Saturn Aries Leadership

Experience Talk Cosmos on Sunday April 19 at 1:00 PM PDT! Host Sue Rose Minahan and guest Jen Sachs, a Seattle astrologer, team up to deliver insights on a dramatic conjunction, “Mars Saturn Aries Leadership”. Mars Meets Saturn: Mars and Saturn line up from earth’s view exactly at 7°51’ Aries on April 19 at 6:17:46 p.m. EDT (3:18 p.m. PDT). Visible in Europe where it’ll be near or after Midnight depending on the location. However, all ‘feel’ the need to ground actions since Mars entered Aries Apr 10 and this happens for four days April 18-21. Aries Stellium Focus: Because Mars in Aries transits over nine days to connect with each of the big Aries stellium planets: April 12 Neptune 2°; Apr 15 Moon 4°, April 18-19 Saturn Mercury 7°. The three remain in 1 degree orb through April 21. Only the Sun moves on to Taurus the next day on the 20th. Navigating Emotional Bonds: But focusing on applying motivated actions for Neptunian leadership visions, or cutting emotional bonds blocking leadership, needs the leveling consciousness of Saturn and Mars hard efforts to pull through whatever requires adjustments. Thankfully Mercury navigates instinctually through our deepest hidden motives, our feared loss of attachments, to objectify values, building a reinvented sense of personal leadership. Mercury Guides Reinvention: Yes, it’s a long-term juggle because this involves clear thinking to allow what is leaving, possibly on its own accord, to be released. But emotional connections when forced to adjust take time to refocus. The key often involves a willingness to allow processing as we experience adjustments with our contractual relationships. Because new ideas become supported by unfolding values liberating what might be stuck to reinventing a new consciousness of engaged leadership. Connect with inspiration! DAMTT- The Perfect Sundae

Stacy starts the show more subdued than usual having just been to therapy before recording where she explored being “too much.” Don’t worry, her self-awareness quickly goes out the window. Now that her house in Washington has closed, she and her husband continue to explore their new environs like HEB (B for Butt!?). Talk of the two-step devolves into a conversation about quirky songs like the Casper Slide, Scatman, Cotton-Eyed Joe and Crazy Frog. Eric is brack at making tea brack, but cherries are too expensive in this economy! As for Cultural Blindspots, Stacy finished watching Song Sung Blue which was in fact very blue. She also saw Project Hail Mary which was NOT rocky at all! Eric watched Is This Thing On? which is a newer movie directed by Bradley Cooper. For a movie based on being a standup comic, it wasn’t very funny. He also started rewatching Malcolm in the Middle since the reboot is out soon and found it to be very funny. As for the perfect sundae, Eric argues it’s in a waffle cone with no toppings and Stacy loves the Almond Joy Sundae from COHO, an old Issaquah fave. They were split on banana splits. Meandering Musings with Neil Peterson ep 135 Eighty-Two Years Before My First Pawn Shop

In this episode of *Meandering Musings*, Neil Peterson reflects on an unexpected first at age 82: walking into a pawn shop for the very first time. What begins as a simple attempt to sell decades‑old camcorders becomes a thoughtful exploration of assumptions, economics, and everyday human stories. Neil shares how his long‑held mental image of pawn shops—shady, cluttered, and marginal—was completely overturned by the bright, professional, and surprisingly sophisticated reality he encountered at Rocky’s Pawn Shop in Indio, California. Along the way, he uncovers the quiet role pawn shops play in the financial ecosystem, particularly for small business owners using gold and silver as short‑term collateral, and reflects on the deep personal histories behind every item in the display cases. The experience becomes a gentle reminder that the world often looks very different once you step inside—and that even in your eighties, there are still firsts worth having. The Loretta Brown Show - 04-16-26 - Outrageous Peace

Today, Loretta welcomes Beatty Carmichael who is a peace and alignment expert whose work focuses on helping people reduce internal pressure by identifying and releasing unseen friction that disrupts mental, emotional, and physical well-being. With over a decade of experience and more than 1,000 documented breakthroughs involving anxiety, emotional distress, and chronic pain, Beatty has discovered a powerful pattern: many people are not failing at self-improvement—they are simply trying to solve the wrong problem. Rather than teaching stress management or effort-based strategies, Beatty offers a practical, non-religious framework that addresses the root cause of inner tension—internal misalignment. When this misalignment is resolved, peace naturally returns without force, discipline, or ongoing struggle. Coming from seven generations of medical doctors, Beatty brings a grounded, observational, and results-oriented approach to his work. His teachings challenge the assumption that peace must be achieved, instead revealing it as something that re-emerges when internal conflict is released. He is the author of The Prayer of Freedom and his newest book, Outrageous Peace (2026), and has appeared in over 100 media interviews worldwide. Find out more at: https://outrageouspeace.com/
