Jesus never said we were to build His church. He never called Peter the first Pope. He never said His kingdom was marked by any organization. He said He would build His church. He hated the type of religion that sought to gain for itself by His sacrifice.andrewpaulcannon.blog

There are two ways to think about growing closer with God. Either our religion is by the Law or by grace. Where 99% of human religion across the spectrum glorifies ritual law, grace and truth came through Jesus. andrewpaulcannon.blog

We have a tendency to read too much into Scripture to confirm our own biases. We don't have to. The prophets were bold and clear. andrewpaulcannon.blog

Scripture tells us plainly that those who bless Abraham will be blessed, and those who curse Abraham will be cursed. Does that mean univocal support of everything modern-day Israel does geo-politically?andrewpaulcannon.blog

This week, we see Hebrews 10:18-22 and learn that doing church is about worship, not ritual. We can't earn God. Our worship is a response to what God has already done. There is only one offering for sin. No worldly priests needed.

God has explicitly given Christian men the responsibility of dying for their wives and raising their children in the discipline and instruction of God.andrewpaulcannon.blog

John has introduced the Word, who was with God and was God in the beginning. I believe this is the word through whom God spoke creation into being. I believe it is the Voice of God that was walking in the Garden in Genesis 3. I believe it is the Word the prophets heard when they recorded the decree of God and Moses heard in the burning bush. I believe this Word, is Jesus. In John 1, we get to the pinnacle of history when this ancient Word became flesh.

God's love for us is truly unconditional, such that we cannot boast about coming to Him. We were dead. We could do nothing. Yet, God gave us life in Christ. Since He loves us unconditionally, we also love others unconditionally. andrewpaulcannon.blog

When we cast our own vision or try to get others to meet our goals, we've made our ministry about us rather than Christ. God has already given us His vision, and we can't do better than that.   andrewpaulcannon.blog

Pastors are not popes. Jesus plainly taught that we are to be helpers, not heads; foundations, not fathers. Do not be called leader, for you only have one leader--Jesus.   andrewpaulcannon.blog

Many people choose not to believe the Bible's historical account based on science, never mind that science can't observe history in a repeatable and demonstrable way--which isn't science anyway. Let's dig in. andrewpaulcannon.blog

Paul begins his address to the saints. At the foundation of his letter, there is one essential doctrine. People are sinners who cannot become righteous. We must be made righteous in Christ alone.andrewpaulcannon.blog
