A day without sunshine Is more than a line
What’s a day without sunshine? Of course, the comedic answer is…night. Or maybe you remember how the Florida Citrus Commission used to say “a day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine”Either way, can you imagine a day without the actual sun? That would be weird beyond words. But what if I told you there might be a time like that in your future. In fact, every day might be like that. How about a day without sunshine forever? Imagine a pure “river of water of life, clear as crystal“. And then imagine a “tree of life”that yields twelve different fruits, one for each month. Wow. Cool stuff. You can probably sort of wrap your mind around those things. Especially if you’ve watched any superhero movies. But it’s almost impossible to imagine a day without sunshine, much less an eternity without the sun. What in the world am I talking about? Nothing in this world, actually. But I AM talking about the great I AM. And He says in Heaven there’ll be no need for the sun because He will be our light. Just let that sink in. That “day without sunshine”will be an age. A period of time without end. Also known as forever. And if you put your faith and trust in Jesus as Savior of Heaven and Earth, you’ll bask God’s own lightGod’s own light without the need for the sun. It’s gloriously unimaginable for our mere mortal minds. And yet, so cool. And if you’d like to know more about it, click the links. A friend of mine, Cristina, wrote some lyrics about it. I added a little music and sang this song, which you can hear when you Get my Podcast on iTunes… Shine In Your Glory My love for You, Lord, Is like a river. Your love is like…the infinite sky. You guide my steps Through this worldly desert, And I will hold your name most high. And I will shine in Your glory… And I will raise my hands to the sky… And I will shine in Your glory… And I will praise my Savior on high. My joy is flowing out Into your ocean. Your grace rains down…in my open heart. You take my hand When the road is narrow, And you’re my Light when things get dark. And I will shine in Your glory… And I will raise my hands to the sky… And I will shine in Your glory… And I will praise my Savior on high. Shine in your glory… Shine in your glory Shine in your glory… Shine in your glory © Cristina Miller 2010 I hope you’ll be there with me to see those glorious sun-less, yet Son-filled days. Morning Star – Is that what you are?
Morning Star…is that what you are? Yeah, before you get all puffed up thinking I must be talking about you, I’ll just say I’m not. I’m sure you are a nice person. But Morning Star?! Come on. That title can only truly fit one person. And He earned that description by being the brightest light there is. By being the “firstborn from the dead.” You and I can’t lay claim to those unique credentials. Right? (If you’d rather listen to the rest, here’s this episode of the The Power of God’s Love Podcast) You are important to the morning star. If you believe your life doesn’t matter, or if you think you don’t make a difference to anyone, think again. Remember, you don’t have to be “all that”. You don’t need to conquer the world. At least you don’t have to go it alone. You might choose to. But you don’t HAVE to. When you make the decision to “hitch your wagon” to the Morning Star, you are more than a conqueror from then on. That’s so much better than being some puny guardian of the galaxy. And the realization of how you transformed should give you humility. Enough to admit you are nothing without your one, true, living, loving Creator. It’s why I wrote the song featured in this episode of the The Power of God’s Love Podcast. When you read the lyrics or listen to the song, can you see yourself and your Maker in them? You Are I’m not amazing. I’m no king. No, I’m not the God of anything… Oh but You are. Jesus…You are. I’m not a savior. I’m not pure. No, I’m not the One who has the cure… Oh but You are. Jesus…You are. You are…the start and finish You are…the Morning Star. Your love will not diminish. You’re the Life Everlasting. You’re the Rock of offense. You’re the Only Source of Truth Who makes it all make sense. If they ask who’s gonna mend This broken world, I’ll commence To saying You are. Jesus…You are. I’m not perfection. I’m not near. No, I’m not the One anyone should fear. Oh, but You are. Jesus…You are. I’m not the True Vine nor The Word. No, I’m not the Amen that we’ve heard. Oh, but You are. Jesus…You are. Will There Be Horses In Heaven?
Who doesn’t love the majestic strength and beauty of horses? Let’s see a show of hands. Anybody? Hello? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Those creatures are amazing, aren’t they. No surprise they’re so popular in Bible verses. Even though they’re mentioned a lot in the Bible, have you ever wondered if there’ll be horses in heaven? My guess is…it would be pretty hard for “the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean” to actually follow “Him on white horses” if there were no horses in heaven. Sounds logical to me. How about you? Did you know that before the invention of steam engines (and other types of engines) horses were the fastest form of transportation on the planet? It’s true. They’ve played important roles in farming, ranching, business, and even war. And here’s a very interesting fact I didn’t realize before today…the immune system of horses provides the anti-toxin, tetanus. Have you ever gotten a tetanus shot after cutting or injuring yourself on something rusty? Well, quit horsing around and thank a horse today. Yes, I believe there will be horses in heaven. In fact, I believe they are there now. Can I prove it? Nope. But if people are gonna be riding them out of heaven into this world to put an end to the evil…they must be there. Until we all know for sure, here are the words and music to… My Horse Heaven holds a place for my horse Standin’ straight and strong and tall. All the trails we’ve taken; even when her legs were achin She never lets me down at all. God was great when He made my horse… Perfect since she was a foal. Ranchin’ skills to master; no horse learned “˜em faster There’s a bonfire in her soul. So, Lord don’t take my horse too early We’ve got lots of work to do. Chasin’ cattle, lots of ropin’, and it’s silly but I’m hopin’ I can ride her all the way to You. I’m at home when I’m on my horse. Across the prairies we will fly. With her nostrils flarin’ and the people starin’ We could race into the sky. Chorus…instrumental…chorus twice to end Copyright © 2008 Tony Funderburk Stay tuned… The post Will There Be Horses In Heaven? appeared first on Tony Funderburk.
