Ask Dr. Applewhite About the Potential of Genius and Mental Disability
Can a person with disability be a genius? Unfortunately, one of the most overlooked and devalued groups of people are those with disabilities. In the USA, the most progressive country in the world, there is still great disparity in the treatment and access to school and work opportunities for differently-abled persons, especially those with non-visible and mental disabilities. We can openly discuss the disparity by our willingness to consider the potential of genius within every human being, regardless of the level of their abilities. Our special guest is Dr. Will Moreland, a military veteran and author of the critically acclaimed book Genius Potential. He is known as America's #1 Leadership Life Trainer and appears frequently on national television shows to share his insights on leadership, personal development and current events. This is a rerun epidsode originally aired in 2015. ABOUT THIS SHOW
The ASK DR. APPLEwhite Program is hosted by Danita Applewhite PhD CRC (Ret.), a U S Army Veteran, founder/director of White Apple Institute, retired professor of psychology, and certified counselor in the fields of vocational rehabilitation and independent living for over 40 years. Dr. Applewhite experiences disability from both sides of the desk as a professional and as a person with multiple disabilities. The program has been on Blog Talk Radio since 2009 and YouTube since 2018 and is dedicated to exploring the core principles of the disability rights movement. The program was started to address disability discrimination issues faced by adult students, inclusive of military veterans and has evolved to express the needs and challenges of all adults with visible and non-visible disabilities. Encouraged by the feedback of listeners, The Ask DR. APPLEWHITE Program is moving beyond the framework of disability rights and recognizing the need to expand and promote the disability justice
