Endowed by Our Creator, by John G. West
Today, Roberta talks to John G. West about his new book Endowed by Our Creator. The Declaration of Independence proclaims that “all men are created equal” and “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” For generations, those hallowed words inspired not only Americans, but millions around the globe. Yet today many Americans are skeptical or confused about the Declaration’s key claims. In this timely book, political scientist John G. West explores the original meaning of the Declaration and shows how its propositions drew support from both the Bible and early modern science. He then documents how science was later misused to overturn the Declaration’s teaching on equality, subvert its understanding of liberty, and justify the creation of a technocratic state that regulates us from cradle to grave. Finally, he reveals new scientific discoveries that are pointing us back to the truths expressed in the Declaration—and he explains why it is urgent that our culture recover them.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture, by Mike Tatlock
Today, Roberta talks to Mike Tatlock about his new book A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture, available from Moody publishers. When our faith is challenged, the best response isn’t to fall back. It’s to go deeper. We’re living in a cultural storm. Perhaps you feel it. Postmodern philosophy and secular ideologies have trickled from academia to the broader culture, eroding belief in basic Christian doctrines. Christian teachings on family and sexuality, once respected by the wider culture, are now considered suspect or even dangerous. Increasingly, the Western world finds the church unnecessary, offensive, and irrelevant. Many Christians feel disoriented and discouraged.A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture invites and shows us how to remain steadfast and faithful in this unique and challenging time in history. Pastor and professor Mike Tatlock explores how every aspect of our lives—our identity, appetites, behavior, and the way we relate to God and each other—must be rooted in God’s purposes. Readers reflect on topics like engaging the world without being scared, discernment over deception, contending for the faith without damaging our faith, feasting on the goodness of God, spiritual resilience, flourishing, and more. Can we live in such a way that our faith is compelling and not compromising, complacent, or combatant? We can be tempted to despair or hide, to revile instead of reveal. This book offers another option. To live a compelling faith and to offer a compelling faith. Get a glimpse of your purpose in God’s cosmic plan, redeem the time, and joyfully serve Him regardless of what is transpiring in our world. The storm is only going to grow stronger. It’s time to send our roots down deep. Unearthing the Mysteries of Ancient Shechem - with Carl Gallups
Today, we speak with Carl Gallups about the new book Unearthing the Mysteries of Ancient Shechem: Revealing the Hidden Truths of Golgotha, Israel's Future, and the Biblical End of Days. This book is available from Defender publishing and is actually written by Zev Porat, a messianic rabbi in Israel who was not available for this interview. His close friend and ministry partner, pastor Carl Gallups, wrote the forward to this book and shares about the exciting information contained within. The ancient city of Shechem, located in the middle of the land of Israel, is mentioned more than seventy times from Genesis to Acts. Shechem is where God spoke to Abraham and told him that through his seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed—a promise of the coming Messiah. In the same city, Joshua held the renowned conclave of commitment between Mount Gerizim (Mount of Blessing) and Mount Ebal (Mount of Curses). It was also in Shechem that Joshua famously declared, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” (Joshua 24:15).Messianic Rabbi Zev Porat, who was born and raised in Israel, uncovers mind-blowing biblical mysteries that have mostly been hidden from sight until now. Each one is linked to ancient Shechem as well as Golgotha. This rare journey of spiritual archeology unearths prophetic elements of God’s eternal plan of the ages, made abundantly relevant to the life of readers in their daily walk with Yeshua.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. Lionheart, by Carl Joseph
Today, Roberta talks to Carl Joseph about his new book LIONHEART: Unleash the Warrior Within, available from Christian Faith Publishing. There is no sadder epitaph than "I never became what I might have been." In truth, most people never discover their true purpose because it can only be found in the mind of the Creator. Communing with the Creator is the key to manifest destiny, yet so few lions take the time. For years now, the Lions Unchained Podcast has challenged believers to unleash their God-given destiny. Many lions are caught up in the demands of the day to day, scouring the savanna, chasing down warthogs, or taking care of the cubs. Consequently, purposeful living becomes an afterthought, and "the grind" becomes the norm. The purpose of this book is to activate God's call on your life and equip you to do so by revealing five key concepts which are foundational for Christian success. No matter where you are in life, it is never too late as far as God's concerned. Always Ready, by Gordon Jackson
Today, Roberta talks to Gordon Jackson about his new book Always Ready: A Christian Mandate.Always Ready—A Christian Mandateis a series of reflections on the need for Christians to be responsive at all times to God’s leading.Based on Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins, in Matthew 25, these reflections explore various aspects of readiness (or unreadiness) in the believer’s life. Building on this parable, and Jesus’ own example of how He was ready at all times to live out his Father’s will, the book’s forty-one entries examine a wide range of topics related to “Christian readiness.” The entries are divided into several sections, such as “Getting Ready” and “Dealing with Unreadiness.”Also addressed is the problem of misguided readiness, such as when Jesus encountered with the hardworking Martha fussing over having everything ready for His visit when she should have focused on Him instead. Another section deals with the need to be in a state of perpetual readiness for end death.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. Parallel Faith, by Dave Boden
Today, Roberta talks to Dave Boden about his new book Parallel Faith: Walking alongside Others on Their Journey to Christ, available from Hendrickson Publishers. Are you ready to discover how to walk alongside others on their journey to Christ? Learn how to walk parallel with others with purpose and help them discover Jesus from their starting point, not yours.Everyone takes little steps toward Jesus before they can take big steps with and for him. This is a process that starts long before people ever enter a church building, especially as the gap between the church and culture grows ever wider. This book will help equip you to handle the early stages of discipling others with care, address the stumbling blocks that hold them back, as well as redefine how you see your own identity as an ambassador of Christ. You will learn how to be better prepared to answer questions about your faith and how to share the gospel in a way that resonates with other people and their culture. There are many ways we can walk with others and point them to Jesus: We can use our creativity to create curiosity, and hospitality can mean so much more than a warm welcome. If we teach like Jesus, then we will use everyday moments to impart Scripture, share stories, and offer next steps to those with whom we’re walking alongside.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing. Alligator in the Ocean, by Anina Swan
Today, Roberta talks to Anina Swan about her new book Alligator In The Ocean: A Family’s Fight to Stop a Serial Predator and Their Determination to Heal, available from Morgan James publishers.Alligator in the Ocean illustrates one family’s drive to stop a serial predator and overcome the heart-wrenching struggles that followed.Anina Swan shares the true account of how she survived the brutality of a serial predator, Ivan, unveiled traumatic amnesia, and rallied help to stop his crime spree. With deep-seated courage, Anina did the unthinkable when she confronted her perpetrator. The result eventually delivered Ivan’s confessions of assaulting hundreds of children, according to local news reports. The chaotic aftermath ultimately led to his arrest and how Anina transformed her pain into purpose and adversity into triumph. In Alligator in the Ocean, Anina creatively weaves scenes from three different perspectives: one of the child victims, herself as a young mother, and the perpetrator through portions of his handwritten letters that he wrote to his wife, Adele, while incarcerated. Anina illustrates how the wounds of crime reach beyond the victim and spread through family and community. She gives a deeply personal account of how she persevered and overcame what seemed impossible. Then how she transformed—through forgiveness sought and found. This poignant story proves that where there is hope, the crippling effects of violence can be overcome and result in a profound desire to live a better life.Alligator in the Ocean is a unique story based on a collection of Anina’s journals, court documents, slides and photos, newspaper articles, interviews, and the original letters written by Ivan to his wife while incarcerated.Discover the latest Christian books and meet the authors behind them on Author's Corner, where Roberta Foster explores new releases in faith-based publishing.
