IUI, IVF and a 3-Year Journey to Becoming “Human Dad with Tony Berardo - S7 E90
We went through 3 IUI's and 2 IVF's, over a 3 year journey trying to get pregnant, then finally - we had our baby girl. During this time of trying to conceive we dealt with various health scares, I was let go from my job and had a family death... all within a few weeks. It was a low point in our relationship but we stuck together and pulled through. I own a content agency and an apparel brand for Dads.We started it because being a dad is heavy.Human Dad wasn’t born in a group chat looking for laughs. It was born in the quiet moments — when responsibility hits harder than you expected, and there’s no manual, no applause, and no reset button...FIND HIM HERE: humandad.comhttps://www.instagram.com/humandadbrand

Single Parent of 4, Income Streams, A Book, And Having Fun with It - Tami Gaines - S7 E88
Five months. That’s how long it took my entire life to fall apart.I became unexpectedly pregnant with twins—already a mom of two and married for twelve years. When I told my husband, he gave me an ultimatum: him… or the babies. I couldn’t have both.I chose the babies.I didn’t like him very much anyway.Within weeks, I was on hospitalized bedrest, managing two kids at home with a husband who had already checked out in every way.I was suddenly single in every way that mattered.A few fun facts: My oldest daughter was born after 36 hours of labor, minutes from a c-section. The midwife literally pulled her out. My water broke on the 9th hole -- I was playing golf!My son was born accidentally at home! Yup...I'm one of those women you read about!I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 11. Currently, (as a true entrepreneur) I'm building:* Sexual Health Disruptor: Boom Boom Butter -- the world's 1st sexual lube with health benefits (https://boomboombutter.com/)* Health Disruptor: Revolutionary at-home blood spot testing for balance, diabetes, heart disease and many more! Parenting and Finances - Reducing Stress to Increase Joy with Ryan Johnson - S7 E86
Everything changed when our son entered the world almost 3 years ago. We moved to a new state, launched a business, and my wife (who originally never wanted kids) decided to stay home. We now have 2 kids (our youngest, a daughter, just turned one). I'm excited to share parts of my own experience becoming a parent and why those early years completely reshaped how I think about money, stress, and family life. My mission now is to help parents feel more grounded and confident in their financial world so they can be more present with the people who matter most.I work with families in their 30s and 40s who are juggling careers, childcare, saving, and the constant pressure to “get everything right.” I’ve seen how money stress quietly drains joy and energy from the home, and I believe clarity is one of the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves (and our kids). My work focuses on simplifying decisions, removing guilt and overwhelm, and helping parents align their money with the life they’re trying to build. If you’ve ever felt behind, unsure, or stretched thin, my goal is to show you that you’re not alone, you’re not failing, and there’s a clearer way forward.I run a solo financial planning firm focused on high-earning parents ($200k+ per year). Doctor Parenting through Two Adoptions, IVF, Twins & Living Well with Michelle Jorgensen - S7 E79
Mother of four through a winding road of infertility, in-vitro, and adoption. After three rounds of IVF, had twins on the first round, two failed rounds after.Adopted two children—one at birth and one at 2½ years old.The adoption journey has been beautiful and brutally hard. Our son struggled deeply—multiple suicide attempts, didn’t finish traditional school, but earned his GED. After years of treatment, he’s now living on his own.I’ve learned this: no one’s bar is yours. Every child’s path is different.I don’t judge other parents anymore—you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.I’ve stayed close to my kids not through punishment, but through love, interest, and presence—piano for choir, volunteering in class, coaching sports, hosting dance dinners and teen hangouts. We worked and lived side-by-side—cooking, gardening, cleaning, and building businesses together. We made mistakes, but our goal was never just to raise good kids—it was to raise great adults. And we did.I own Living Well with Dr. Michelle Jorgensen, a large dental practice, run my social media, etc.FIND HER HERE:https://livingwellwithdrmichelle.comhttps://instagram.com/livingwellwithdrmichellehttps://www.tiktok.com/@livingwellwithdrmichelle

Switching Gears While Parenting To Be A Stay-At-Home Mom, Author, & Adoption - Kim Patten - S7 E77
I was raised in a traditional Chinese family, where my mother was a stay-at-home parent. Witnessing her profound unhappiness, I made a vow to myself: I would never follow that path. This fueled my intense drive to pursue a higher education and build a demanding career. The shock came after we adopted our daughter and welcomed our son shortly thereafter. To my absolute surprise, I loved being with my children and yearned for more time with them. This realization triggered a massive identity crisis. Everything I had worked for—who I was, and who I was becoming—was suddenly in question. The decision to quit my job and become a full-time mother was incredibly difficult. As an international student, my career path had been anything but smooth. When my children arrived, I had finally achieved the dream career I had always wanted. Walking away from it felt impossible and, frankly, silly at the time. but I finally did and I wish I had done it sooner. I had to drive four hours in LA traffic and barely made it back to Palm Springs before giving birth. My husband just made it within 20 minutes of the delivery.- The birth of my daughter was way different- My daughter's delivery was so traumatic for both of us. We both look beat up afterward - literally. It's a crazy story. CEO of Holistic Fertility Institute, Tough Birth and Parenting with Aumatma Simmons - S7 E67
I started with saying NO to having babies (with the guy I was married to). This took me down the fertility rabbit hole trying to figure out if I was going to be able to have a child one day, with the right person. Eventually, I met the right person, and worked to prep my body for a year before saying yes to getting pregnant - and we got pregnant on the first try. Pregnancy was easy & birth was not! From induction to flailing epidurals, it was 36 hours of labor before meeting our baby boy. He's now 7, and parenting is... fun, challenging, and exhausting -- especially while being a serial entrepreneur.I'm the CEO of Holistic Fertility Institute- training doctors who want to specialize in fertility, and supporting couples who want to conceive. Stepmom Before Parenting Her Bio Child, Isolation, Age Gaps, Blended Family with Amy Stone - S7 E65
I was a stepmom before I was a mom. So my first child was my husband's third child. I have two kids and two stepkids with a pretty fair age-gap between them and bringing everybody together as a family was harder than expected. I was surprised at how isolating motherhood was ... I was never alone and also felt alone. I did not have depression. The second birth was much faster than expected and without pain relief which was not at all my plan ...but it is how it went. :-)Amy Stone is an author, coach, and creator of The Art of Imperfect Adulting, where she champions adults navigating life's rich complexities. Attorney to Transformational Mentoring, Miscarriage & Parenting a child with ADHD - Arlene Cohen Miller - S7 E63
* I discovered that I was pregnant at age 29 a month after opening my own solo legal practice in a suburb of Cleveland, OH* My partner and I grew up in Louisville, KY. Our families were there, so we had no day-to-day support from them* My law school colleagues were practicing law 5 to 6 hours' drive away from where I was living.* I had to build my own tribe as a working mother. My partner was working 70 or more hours a week. So, although he was providing food and shelter, I was on my own as a parent and business woman.* I suffered a bad miscarriage when my son was 2 years old, and was hospitalized for a week because of heavy bleeding and passing lots of blood clots. My mother flew in and took care of my son and brought him to the hospital to visit me. It was years later that I finally felt the grief of this loss and allowed myself to heal from this trauma.* I divorced when my son was almost 3 years old and he developed ADHD. I went on a healing journey to help him, and in the process began healing myself. I studied all kinds of healing modalities in an effort to keep him off drugs for his condition.* I have been a working mother - married, divorced, remarried and single since my son was born* He is now a successful entrepreneur with a son of his own.For years, I was an attorney. I am still licensed to practice law in Colorado. I owned a sold a solo practice that I started in Lakewood, OH, a suburb of ClevelandI used the proceeds of the sale to buy into a firm in Longmont, CO, near Denver, and became a partner in the firm. Miscarriage, IVF, Parenting 2 & Coaching with The Courage Club - Mel Findlater - S7 E58
- As a teenager I was taught - as many are - that slip up once in the bed and you are pregnant- Always figured kids would simply happen but they weren't my one big dream that would make me satisfied in life. I have always been spontaneous and loved adventure and travel and possibility. - Decided to get married. Decided to have kids. 3 years later, not pregnant. - lucked out to be living in Cambridgeshire England (we're Canadian) at that exact time, as IVF was covered by public health for 3 rounds. - felt grateful and lucky- One fresh round, pregnant. Twins. Early miscarriage. - frozen round, 2 put in, one baby created on Canada day, ironically, and brought me my first child. - gestational diabetes, frequent monitoring, super healthy, early induction 37 weeks and 4 days. - emergency c section, with plenty of trauma, blood loss, full general anesthetic, baby with group b strep, 9 days in the hospital, husband not allowed overnight. - baby sick with snotty cold full 2nd month- then I felt like I was born to be a mother for 3 years. Brought my baby with me on adventures, Built a community of other spontaneous folk. - Got pregnant with second with no IVF, somewhat without trying- took control of birth, doula, different hospital, the full deal. - 2nd child 3 years apart. Very hard. Couldn't meet everyone's needs. Isolated in England. - Moved back to Canada March 2020 in height of pandemic - a dark year of feeling no purpose- then started an applied positive psychology course, then the coaching course, and found my community of people who want to learn similar things to me and found myself again. - now, I coach, I learn, I take small courageous steps and I'm building The Courage Club, where women meet, play, laugh, and try new things together to build our courage muscles...so that when we want to go for that big, audacious dream, our bodies and brains remember that we can do scary things. Depression, Anxiety, Parenting, NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice with Craig Meriwether - S7 E58
Depression, Anxiety, Parenting, NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice with Craig Meriwether - S7 E58Starting when I was a teenager I struggled for many years with depression and anxiety. It was with the birth of my son that I found the resolve to heal. My mother struggled with depression as did I and whether it was nurture or nature I want to make sure I would be able to help my son if he fell into the dark hole of depression. I found healing by learning to take back control of my subconscious mind and nervous system through hypnotherapy and NLP techniques. After learning so much I trained to become a clinical hypnotherapist myself. Parenting 2, Nutrition for Pregnancy and Beyond through Vital Earth Minerals with Kortney Leany - S7 E56
-Mother of two. Both born in a hospital using anesthesia and post care medications.-I was never taught about how important pre- and post-natal care is during my parenting journey (aside from "walk as much as you can" and "take prenatal pills every day") and thought that physical activity was the most important aspect. -I've since learned that nutrition should be a fundamental aspect to everyone's journey whether they're a parent or not and to also be made aware that hospitals and doctors might not properly inform you on vital information that could save some women from a lot of negative side effects both long-term and short-term.-I also want to give hope to moms with older children that it's never too late to take you and your children's health into your own hands and give simple solutions to very busy people to be able to live healthier, more fulfilled lives.I've owned my own personal training gym as well as a small spa and now I do marketing for Vital Earth Minerals while still doing fitness consulting on the side. Birth Doula who works in Black Maternal Health through LEAD with Jennifer McLean - S7 E55
- I am not a parent, but I am a DONA International certified Birth Doula working in North Carolina - I did not learn about what a doula was until the age of 26 years old in graduate school. Once I learned about the field, it instantly clicked for me. I've always been fascinated with birth but never wanted to be a nurse or doctor. - I had some fears around becoming a labor support doula and not having gone through childbirth but my training reassured me that I was able to do the job - I learned of the Alliance of Black Doulas for Black Mamas (which was rebranded to LEADDoula) through an email listserv that a friend sent me, because she knew I wanted to be doula - ABDBM or LEAD was strictly for Black women who wanted to become doulas, and was focused on serving black birthing people and their families - It was a 6 week program with culturally tailored education, included all required DONA International training to become certified, and afterwards, we were required to serve as doula for at least 3 births to be eligible for DONA certification - Between the program and my own clients, I've had 13 births - Fun fact: My first birth was a cesarean section - I love serving as a birth doula because of the relationships I have built with the moms and families I've served. Being with a woman at her most intimate and vulnerable time of childbirth is such a special gift FIND HER HERE:linkedin.com/in/jnmclean3

8 Years of Infertility to Coaching, A Podcast, & Best Selling Book - Fertile Ground with Spenser Brassard - S7 E53
It took me 8 years to get pregnant. I went through loss, IVF, many (MANY!) diet changes, holistic modalities -- and nothing was working. I decided to become a Life Coach so that I could stop suffering through the uncertainty of it all. In my certification, I learned mind-body tools that helped me to eventually get pregnant naturally -- and now I teach women all around the world to do the same. I also wrote a new best selling book called: Fertile Ground, that I'd love to promote on your podcast. It teaches women the mind-body approach to getting pregnant -- without it taking over their lives. I believe that the trying to conceive journey can be incredible parenting prep. It taught me the tools I needed to handle the uncertainty of conception, pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. To let go of perfectionism and to trust myself. It was a catalyst to step out of "what I was supposed to do" and into what made me feel at peace -- even if it was different from the norm. I am a life and fertility coach. Speech Therapist, Becoming A Parent, Reiki, & Conscious Parenting Podcast with Carrie Lingenfelter - S7 E52
I was previously an educator and early child interventionist speech therapist but was brought to my knees when I became a parent I tried to fit into the box of what parenting should be like but realized that I needed to follow my own heart and gut feelings as well as my child's cues about sleep schedule, nursing times, and other parenting pieces right from the start of becoming a parent I learned to throw out the parenting books which really made me so nervous about labor and delivery- but it wasn't until after I had my first baby. Luckily, I grew so much in that first experience that I was in such a different place with my second baby. I got to have a mother's blessing before having my second baby and even though she came a month early and was in the NICU for a couple of days, we had such a better experience because we were all connected with ourselves and with each other, including the connection between my husband and myself I love sharing these pieces with the listeners of my podcast and other podcasts so that parents can look at empowering themselves and hearing their own hearts and guts before they even have kids. We can get so swept up in trying to stick inside of society's box of how we should parent even during our pregnancies I host a conscious parenting podcast where we provide parents tools for raising mindful children. I was an educator and early intervention speech therapist before having my two spirited, gifted, highly sensitive, and neurodivergent kids. I love connecting with other parents who are also raising conscious kids so that we don't feel alone in our parenting journeys. C-Section, Son Needed Craniotomy, Strokes, and Speech Therapy with Jeaneen Tang S7 E48
Had my son when I was 36 years old in 2012. Very long labor that ended up being a c-section. My son was very healthy and normally developing until he was 13 months old. He had a fall from our bed, just 18" off the ground, and suffered a large brain bleed. He had an emergency craniotomy and a few days later he had a stroke. He'll be 12 years old on 10/19/2024. He still has no functional use of his right arm or hand, but has accomplished so much. Being a speech therapist was key in early intervention for my son. I continue to use my over 20 years of experience to help my son and other children. BIO: Jeaneen Tang, speech-language pathologist and mother of a special needs child. Along with her over 20 years of experience working with children and adults with neurodiversity, she also has an 11 year old son who is neurodivergent. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and stroke at 13 months old. Her personal and professional relationship with this amazing population has forever changed her. She hopes to change their world too. She recently published her first book called PLAY DUMB & SABOTAGE. It addresses early language development and is meant to be helpful for parents, caregivers, and educators to work with young children and hopefully decrease the number of children needing speech therapy. Through preventative training, she believes we can achieve success and raise confident communicators.
