Ep. 49 - Patient Interview - Alex: From Patient to Coworker
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Alex, Dawn's daughter from last week's episode, and the first voice patients hear when they call Done In One. Alex works remotely from Indiana as a Patient Treatment Coordinator, and her path to that role is one of a kind: she was a patient first.Alex shares a decades-long dental history that started with root resorption from early braces, deepened when her family lost insurance, and accelerated when her teeth began breaking off at 17. At 18, she had root canals, posts, and crowns placed on every remaining tooth over the course of a year, only to watch them fail within months. Facing an implant quote far out of reach as a young waitress, she got dentures at 21, then took matters into her own hands by buying a Dremel, teaching herself on YouTube, and rebuilding her denture fit at home. During COVID, she started sharing her journey on TikTok and built a following inside the denture and implant community, which is how Done In One eventually found her.Alex and her mom, Dawn, had their full-arch surgeries on the same day roughly four years ago. Alex has had two implants fail and be replaced over the years, and she describes how smoothly each was handled, with no pain, no infection, and no drama. She also shares how a small bite adjustment along the way nearly eliminated her TMJ pain. The conversation also gets personal: her remote workday rhythm, her move from rural Pennsylvania to Indiana, popcorn ceilings she scraped off by hand, rock tumbling, her dogs Buster and Vincent, and a childhood pet possum named Mickey. At its core, this episode is about why Alex is often the perfect first call for a nervous lead. She has personally lived through many of the same fears and questions that new patients bring to her today. If you haven't heard Ep. 48 with her mom, Dawn, yet, give it a listen for the other half of this mother-daughter story.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 48 - Patient Interview - Pennsylvania Dawn: Four Years Later
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Dawn, a patient from Dallas, Pennsylvania who went through her full-arch journey four years ago alongside her daughter Alex — a true mommy-daughter makeover done on the same day. Dawn shares what finally pushed her to act after years of recurring infections and swelling, and how she was just weeks away from settling for a $1,500 denture before Done In One changed the plan. She opens up about being nervous going in, opting for oral sedation instead of IV, and her pro tip for future patients: bring headphones and a favorite album (hers was Heart). Four years later, she's had one adjustment, zero implant issues, and a Philips water flosser she calls her best friend. Dr. Dan and Dawn also dig into why ice cream is her favorite post-surgery win, and have a fascinating tangent about pressure sensors and why some patients feel "their own teeth" within weeks while others take a year.Beyond the dental chair, Dawn shares her life story — from surviving the Blizzard of '77 in Buffalo, to raising three kids in Pennsylvania, to the day-to-day reality of caring for her oldest daughter Jessica, who has microcephaly and cerebral palsy. It's an honest, warm conversation about family, resilience, and finally being able to smile (and eat ice cream) again.Stay tuned for next week's episode featuring Dawn's daughter, Alex, for the other half of this mother-daughter story.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 47 - Refresh Cases: A Second Chance at Full-Arch — Part 1
In this kickoff episode, host Erica is joined by Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Dr. Sarah Laks to introduce one of Done In One's most meaningful new offerings: the Refresh. A refresh case is when a patient who had full-arch implant surgery somewhere else — locally, across the country, or overseas — comes to Done In One looking for a real solution. Maybe they're stuck in a temporary arch they hate. Maybe their final is failing. Maybe their original office just can't help anymore.Dr. Dan and Dr. Laks break down what makes these cases both complex and rewarding: the investigative work of assessing implant health, identifying parts (some of which no longer exist), and finding the "Rosetta Stone" of full-arch dentistry — the multi-unit abutment — that brings every patient into the Done In One system. They share real cases, including overseas implants with clinical notes in another language and a patient who found Done In One just days after a surgery she regretted. This is just the introduction — future episodes will go deeper into the mechanics, the process, and the stories behind some of their most complex cases. Ep. 46 – You Asked, Dr. Dan Answered
Dr. Dan, Erica, and Nick are back with another round of real questions from the Done In One Facebook group, and this one covers a lot of ground. They kick things off with the DIO Waiting Room Theory, a topic that has been floating around the office forever and finally gets its moment on the mic. Then it's straight into the questions: high blood pressure on surgery day, why your consultation is designed the way it is and what that says about the experience, sinus lifts and when they are actually necessary, and what patient factors matter most when it comes to swelling and bruising after surgery. The second half gets into the restorative details. Can a zirconia arch shift over time? What is the real relationship between full arch treatment and TMJ? And if an implant fails, what actually happens next?Have more questions? Drop them in the comments, send us an email, or head over to the Done In One Facebook group to submit yours for a future episode. Ep. 45 - Inside the Done In One Lab
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Done In One Lab Manager, Donaldo, for a behind-the-scenes look at the lab that helps make the full-arch process possible. This is also the first episode recorded in the brand-new Done In One studio, marking an exciting new chapter for the podcast.Donaldo shares his journey from working overnight in the lab to now managing operations, and what it takes to keep everything running smoothly across multiple locations. The conversation breaks down what actually happens inside the lab—from 3D printing temporaries to milling final zirconia arches—and why communication, consistency, and attention to detail are so critical. They also dive into the philosophy behind the Done In One lab: focusing on doing one thing extremely well, using the right technology, and building a system that allows for efficient turnaround times without sacrificing quality. Along the way, they touch on real challenges, tight timelines, and the behind-the-scenes teamwork that patients don’t always see—but benefit from every step of the way. This one gives patients a clear look at the “other side” of their treatment—and the people making it all happen.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 44 - AI in Full-Arch: What’s Coming
Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined by Erica and Nick to break down how AI is already impacting dentistry and where it is headed next. From early trial and error to real use in operations, they share how AI has evolved into a valuable tool for data analysis, projections, reporting, and faster decision-making across the practice. The conversation explores how AI helps streamline behind-the-scenes work like financing insights, patient communication systems, and administrative workflows, allowing teams to spend more time focused on patient experience. They also touch on how AI is already showing up in dentistry in ways patients may not realize, from automated systems to diagnostic tools that support clearer treatment planning.Dr. Dan shares his perspective on why dentistry is both open to rapid innovation and still protected by hand skills, training, and clinical judgment. The group dives into digital design, scanners, 3D printing, and the balance between technology and technique, emphasizing that AI is only as powerful as the person using it.The takeaway is simple. AI will continue to shape the future of dentistry, but it will not replace great clinicians. When used correctly, it enhances efficiency, improves decision-making, and gives teams more time to focus on what matters most: patient care.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 43 - Patient Interview - Tennessee Kelly: Three Years Later
Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined by Erica, Daniel (“Danimal”), and special guest Kelly Fellows—a travel patient from Tennessee who’s now nearly three and a half years out- to reflect on what life looks like long after finals.Kelly shares how she first found Done In One through TikTok during the early social media days, what it felt like choosing a team from out of state, and the mental hurdle of committing to something that “can’t be undone.” She talks about why the timing lined up perfectly in her personal life, how moving to Tennessee created space for the procedure, and how the travel package made the week feel smooth and manageable—especially with her sister flying in to support her.The conversation also dives into the long game: annual checkups, why she still flies back every year, how the lifetime warranty changed her peace of mind beyond the original five-year coverage, and what it’s like staying with the team that already knows your case. Kelly opens up about returning to work on video calls with a new level of confidence, getting creative during the soft-food phase, and the first foods she couldn’t wait to eat again. It’s candid, lighthearted, and reassuring for anyone considering travel treatment, and for anyone curious what “three years later” can really look like when the decision pays off long term.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 42 - The Voices Behind The Brand
Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica are joined by Robert Odom, Marketing Director, and Carly, Social Media Manager. In this episode, they explore creativity, storytelling, and why modern dental marketing looks nothing like it used to.Carly shares how she unexpectedly found her way into dentistry through a creative lens, what inspires her outside of work, and how that perspective shapes the way patient stories are captured and shared. From crafts and Legos to unscripted testimonials, the episode explores how creativity translates into building trust in a healthcare setting. The group unpacks why traditional, highly produced advertising began to feel disconnected—and how Done In One shifted toward real, unscripted moments instead. They discuss the challenges of filming authentic patient reactions, navigating media consent, calming nerves on camera, and why “magic” can’t always be scheduled into a three-hour production window.Transparency becomes a central theme: in marketing, in surgical expectations, in Google reviews, and in the difficult conversations that most offices avoid. They talk about why honest messaging—even when it’s uncomfortable—builds stronger long-term trust than polished promises ever could. At its core, this episode is about storytelling—not just to make dentistry look good, but to make it feel human.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 41 - Patient Interview - South Florida Michelle
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined by Erica, Patient Treatment Coordinator, and Carly, Social Media Manager, for a patient interview with South Florida Michelle, a Boca-raised local who received her final zirconia teeth on a day she’ll never forget: her birthday.Michelle shares her story from the beginning, growing up in Boca when Palmetto barely stretched past Powerline, leaving for North Carolina to pursue a career in public relations and radio, falling in love with live music production, and eventually making her way back home to South Florida. Along the way, life got busy, and dental issues that had always lingered slowly became harder to ignore. She talks openly about doing her research, walking into her consult cautiously optimistic, and what it meant to feel completely free of judgment throughout the process. The conversation moves beyond clinical details into the human side of treatment week, the emotions, the soft food diet that included plenty of ice cream, and the subtle mental shifts that happen afterward, like remembering you can smile freely or drink ice water without bracing for pain.More than a year later, Michelle reflects on how everything has settled into everyday life. The smile no longer feels like an event. It simply feels like her. This episode also weaves in music nostalgia, betta fish tanks, hobby hopping, 3D printing dreams, and Michelle’s current life philosophy of choosing joy wherever you can find it.A relaxed and thoughtful conversation about trust, confidence, and what it feels like when something that once felt overwhelming quietly becomes part of who you are.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 40 - The Real Economics of Full-Arch
Dr. Daniel Noorthoek sits down with Erica, Robert Odom, and Nick Glick to unpack the real economics behind full-arch dentistry — far beyond the implants and the surgery itself. They explore what it actually takes to run a self-propelled full-arch center: the investment behind acquiring patients in a saturated market, why consults are treated with so much intention, the choice to prioritize real human conversations over AI shortcuts, and the operational infrastructure required to support multiple locations and an in-house lab running around the clock. The conversation also dives into the balance between cost and quality — how materials are selected, why certain technologies are worth the investment, and how infrastructure allows the team to confidently stand behind their work with a lifetime warranty. If you’ve ever wanted a better understanding of the economics behind full-arch care, this episode provides a transparent look into that perspective. 🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 39 - Patient Interview - Alabama’s Crystal
In this patient interview episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Erica sit down with Crystal, joined by her husband, Jay, fresh off her 90-day follow-up appointment and officially receiving the green light to move beyond the soft-food diet. This conversation centers on confidence, vulnerability, and no longer hiding. Crystal shares how years of dental issues quietly shaped the way she spoke, smiled, and interacted with the world. She opens up about the fear of being “the one it doesn’t work for,” the shock of an unexpectedly smooth recovery, and the emotional shift that came with seeing her final zirconia smile at Done In One.As a domestic violence legal advocate serving two states, Crystal understands what it means to help others reclaim control of their lives. She speaks candidly about being treated with dignity when asking for help, why feeling judged in past dental experiences delayed her treatment, and how finding a team that led with patience and respect changed everything. If a smile is the welcome mat to the soul, this episode is about no longer holding the door closed.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 38 - Why Timing Matters: The Done In One Full-Arch Timeline
Dr. Daniel Noorthoek sits down with Dr. Sarah Laks and Erica to talk about one of the most overlooked aspects of full-arch treatment: time. They break down why Done In One uses a 5–7 day treatment window—rather than rushing restorations in 24 hours or stretching treatment over months—and how that balance supports healing, precision, and patient confidence. Dr. Laks shares the restorative perspective on try-ins, prototypes, and why living with a set of teeth for a few days can make all the difference. The conversation also explores what time truly costs patients: missed work, repeated appointments, emotional burnout, and years spent planning life around dental problems. Together, they explain why patients rarely regret the investment—but often regret waiting—and why meaningful, well-paced treatment leads to better outcomes and peace of mind. Ep. 37 - The DIO Travel Package: Concierge and Peace of Mind
Dr. Dan and Erica sit down with Daniel—Done In One’s travel concierge (affectionately known as “Danimal”)—to pull back the curtain on what the travel package actually looks like for out-of-state patients. They walk through how the handoff happens after a consult, what’s included (flights + hotel for the patient and a companion, airport pickup, rides to appointments, and a recovery-ready travel bag with essentials), and why the Monday–Friday timeline is designed to make the week smoother—especially with multiple try-ins leading to finals by the end of the week.Danimal shares what patients are most nervous about (sometimes it’s the surgery… sometimes it’s their first time flying ever) and how he coaches them through every step: boarding passes, TSA, baggage claim, and exactly where to meet at the airport. They swap a few unforgettable stories—like booking a three-layover trip from north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska, waiting at the airport into the early morning after a cancellation, and even handling the rare “hotel on fire” curveball with patients’ meds and family in mind. The episode ends on the real point of the travel program: reducing stress, creating a friendly, familiar face in an unfamiliar place, and turning a dental trip into something patients can actually feel good about—sometimes even a mini-vacation along the way.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 36 - Ask Us Anything: Patient Submitted Q&A!
Dr. Dan is joined by a Q&A panel—Robert, Lilia, and Erica—to answer real patient questions pulled from the Done In One Facebook Group. They break down what happens when someone can only afford one arch (top vs. bottom), why the upper jaw often fails first (and why implant success rates can differ between upper and lower), and what to know about tooth infections—including why antibiotics don’t “fix it,” why pain sometimes disappears even when infection remains, and how surgery addresses active infection safely. The panel also dives into practical questions patients ask all the time: whether annual full-arch cleanings are covered by insurance, when a lifetime warranty may make dental insurance unnecessary, and why returning to the office for maintenance can be smarter (and sometimes cheaper) than rolling the dice locally. They cover high blood pressure and surgery clearance, what typically triggers rescheduling, and how sedation/nitrous can help when nerves spike readings. Finally, they unpack TMJ/TMD—how bite position can trigger symptoms, why tiny bite changes can feel huge, and how full-arch treatment can sometimes improve jaw comfort when designed correctly. To close, Dr. Noorthoek shares some of his most memorable cases—stories that highlight what the team cares about most: giving people the confidence to go live their lives again.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 35 - Periodontal Disease: Everything A Patient Should Know
This week on Beyond the Arches, Erica sits down with Done In One Boca periodontist Dr. Blake Hauer to break down periodontal disease in a way that actually makes sense, and explain why it matters so much for anyone considering dental implants or full-arch treatment. They cover what periodontal disease is (and how it starts as gingivitis), the early warning signs patients should watch for (bleeding, inflammation, tartar buildup, abscesses, tooth mobility), and how dentists diagnose and classify it using the American Academy of Periodontology’s staging and grading system. Dr. Hauer also explains why a history of gum disease can still affect implant health—even after teeth are removed—due to long-term changes in oral bacteria and an increased risk of inflammation. From there, the conversation shifts to implant complications, including key differences between periodontal disease (teeth) and peri-implantitis (implants), and why implant problems can progress faster if not caught early. They dig into the biggest controllable risk factors—especially smoking and uncontrolled diabetes—how A1C levels relate to healing, and why certain medications (like steroids) may be avoided for diabetic patients after surgery. Finally, they talk maintenance: why annual removal and professional cleaning of a full-arch prosthetic matters, what at-home care should look like (hello, water flosser), and why choosing a team that follows you long-term is one of the best ways to protect your investment. The takeaway: full-arch implants can do incredibly well, but your habits, health factors, and maintenance routine play a major role in long-term success.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 34 - Patient Interview - Orange County Evan
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Erica and Dr. Dan sit down with Evan Matin—a patient who traveled from Southern California to Florida for his full-arch implant treatment. Evan’s story spans decades, from a traumatic upper extraction in his early adulthood to the long road that eventually led him to Done In One. After years of avoiding treatment due to a previous surgical complication, he finally reached a point where his lower teeth needed a solution, and his search led him through YouTube research, patient testimonials, and a virtual consultation that ultimately checked every box.Evan shares why he refused IV sedation, how he felt completely at ease during his procedure, and what surprised him most about his recovery. He also provides an honest comparison of living with an upper denture versus a zirconia implant bridge on the lower arch—highlighting the stability, comfort, and confidence he gained.Outside the dental chair, Evan gives listeners a glimpse into his adventurous life: off-road truck clubs in the California desert, wildflower photography inspired by childhood roots, exploring the Florida Keys and Everglades during treatment week, and the foods he celebrated once he could finally chew comfortably again. He reflects on the small fears patients rarely discuss—such as the space under a bridge—and how he addressed them with the restorative team. His perspective offers reassurance, clarity, and valuable insight for anyone considering full-arch implants. This conversation is about overcoming past dental trauma, finding a team you trust, embracing new experiences, and rediscovering the simple joys—like chips and salsa—thanks to a new, confident smile.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 33 - No Car-Salesman Energy: How We Talk Money Without Losing the Human
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek sits down with DIO Boca Treatment Coordinator Lilia Blickle to tackle one of the most uncomfortable parts of dentistry for patients (and honestly… for providers too): the money conversation.Using two very different car-buying experiences—one full of pressure, delays, and “manager tactics,” and one refreshingly straightforward—they break down the philosophy behind Done In One’s approach to treatment planning and finances: patients are people, not quotas. You’ll hear how the team avoids the “big implant center” playbook of aggressive follow-ups, inflated pricing games, and car-sales vibes—and why a softer, more transparent approach leads to better decisions, happier patients, and fewer regrets. They also talk about holiday specials (yes, December gets busy), how to offer reminders without crossing the line into pressure, and why long-term trust matters more than short-term conversions. If you’ve ever felt the “ick” in a consultation—or you’re trying to understand what a respectful, ethical financial conversation should feel like—this episode is for you.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep 32 - Girl Power Takeover
This week on Beyond the Arches, Dr. Dan hands off the mic to Erica and the DIO Boca girls, who help make the “teeth in a week” experience feel human: Dr. Laks, Nadia, and Jessica from the restorative team.Instead of talking hardware and headshots, the crew dives into the emotional reality of full-arch transformations: what it’s like to meet patients at their most anxious, guide them through a one-week whirlwind, and then watch them come back a year later completely changed. They share the moments that stick: the timid pre-op scan that turns into a confident “new strut” after the first try-in, the happy tears at delivery, the FaceTimes to family, and the quiet wins like finally biting into a burger again. They also talk about trust: why the one-week timeline gives patients space to adjust (without dragging out the process for months), how the team reads the room and matches each patient’s energy, and why the restorative side often becomes part clinician, part coach, part therapist. If you’ve ever wondered what happens between the appointments—and how a new smile can ripple into confidence, relationships, careers, and life milestones, this episode is for you.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 31 - 2026 Holiday Recap - Done In One In Review
In this special holiday episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined by Lilia Blickle for a warm, end-of-year recap. Together, they reflect on the year's most significant wins at Done In One and the culture that has helped the team grow while staying closely connected. They highlight major milestones across the organization, including the rapid growth of the Tampa location (more than doubling revenue since acquisition), the expansion and consolidation of the periodontal team, and the launch of the Jacksonville office—a massive new 5,000 sq. ft. space with 12 operatories, multiple consult rooms, a hygiene base, and room to scale both EverySmile general dentistry and Done In One full-arch care.A key theme of the conversation is culture: why it matters, how it’s intentionally built, and how it makes growth smoother, training more effective, and work more enjoyable. Dr. Dan and Lilia share behind-the-scenes moments from their trips to Jacksonville for hands-on training—van rides, movies, games—and how those trips have strengthened the team. They also recap the annual Christmas party, which has grown from a small private gathering years ago into an 80+ person celebration spanning multiple offices and the lab team. This year’s event included games, a scavenger-hunt-style giveaway, and a grand-prize cruise, plus lots of laughter, emotional moments, and surprisingly memorable food (including tomahawks and prime rib cooked by Dr. Dan for the whole crowd).🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 30 - Patient Interview - Kerry From Queens
In this profoundly personal and unexpectedly uplifting episode of Beyond the Arches, Erica sits down with Dr. Dan and Kerry Norris, a lifelong New Yorker whose dental journey mirrors that of so many patients who “toughed it out” until they could no longer.Kerry opens up about the years of breaking teeth, hiding his smile, and navigating discouraging dental visits before discovering full-arch implants through a YouTube video…and eventually, Done In One. He shares the moment that pushed him to take action, finally, the shock of early cost estimates, and the relief of finding transparent pricing, real patient stories, and a protocol that made sense to him.He then walks through his entire treatment experience—from flying down for an in-person consultation, to pain levels after surgery, to the surprisingly emotional win of biting into an authentic steak again. Kerry also talks candidly about what happened a year later, when a mechanical fracture and an unexpected implant issue surfaced during his cleaning, and how the lifetime warranty, in-house team, and same-day surgical support completely changed the experience of “something going wrong.”Outside the dental chair, listeners get a glimpse into Kerry’s life in Queens: 29 years working in telecom, a passion for adult-league baseball (including tournaments at MLB spring-training stadiums), family, travel, and the foods he can finally enjoy again. It’s an honest, relatable, and ultimately hopeful episode about reclaiming your health, rediscovering confidence, and what it feels like when a smile no longer holds you back.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 29 - Surgery & Restorative: The Two Clinical Phases of Full-Arch
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Dan and Dr. Blake Hauer sit down with Boca’s head restorative assistant, Nadia Davis, to pull back the curtain on what really happens after full-arch implant surgery, when the teeth, design, and details come to life. They walk through the first night of healing (what pain realistically feels like, what patients actually manage to eat, why having an escort matters), and why Done In One waits until the day after surgery to place the first set of teeth, rather than forcing everything into one exhausting, risky day.Nadia explains her role as a restorative clinician in that crucial next-day appointment: using topical to keep patients comfortable, placing the first prototype, scanning, and then spending most of the visit actually talking—learning who the patient is, what their old smile looked like, and what they want their new one to feel like. She shares how she designs smiles around a patient’s anatomy, lip support, and speech; why sometimes it’s better to intentionally go “too big” or “too small” first so patients can clearly react and guide the changes; and how multiple quick try-ins over several days create a truly custom result that’s almost impossible to achieve with a "you get what you get" next-day final. You’ll also hear about escorts in the op (helpful vs. not), sutures and swelling, how little “in-the-mouth time” the try-ins actually take, and why an open mind and old photos beat over-planning every time. If you’ve ever wondered what the restorative side of the Done In One procedure looks like, or what your week with Done In One would actually feel like, this episode gives you the honest, behind-the-scenes insight.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 28 - The Done In One Patient Experience
What does a truly boutique full-arch journey feel like? In this candid episode, Dr. Dan and Boca surgeon Dr. Blake Hauer walk you through the Done In One experience step-by-step: a no-pressure virtual consult, thoughtful medical review, streamlined sedation surgery (often around one hour per arch), and next-day 3D-printed prototypes you can actually try, tweak, and love before your zirconia final is made. They explain why Done In One favors a one-week, human-centered workflow over instant finals, how in-house lab precision and photogrammetry deliver consistent results, and why multiple quick prototype visits beat one rushed decision, especially for bite, speech, and aesthetics. You’ll also hear how the team reduces dental anxiety by shortening chair time while increasing personal touch, including surgeon-to-escort instructions after surgery and a concierge travel package (airport pickup, hotel coordination, the works).Rounding it out: the soft-diet window, a practical once-yearly maintenance plan, and a **patient-first warranty** that rewards good care. Ep. 27 - The Patient's Guide to Full-Arch Maintenance (Part 2)
In Part Two of Beyond the Arches' “Maintenance Series,” Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined again by Dr. Blake Hauer and Erica for a practical, no-nonsense Q&A that addresses the most common questions patients ask about maintaining the health of their full-arch implants for a lifetime. From how often your zirconia bridge should be removed and cleaned (hint: once a year is the sweet spot) to what really happens during that visit, the trio explains the “why” behind every protocol. They dive deep into real-life topics, such as relines, tissue balance, choosing the right toothbrush or water flosser, avoiding abrasive toothpaste, and why “pressure washing your gums” with a Waterpik is never the goal. They also get candid about what happens when patients skip maintenance altogether—think inflamed tissue, loose screws, or worse—and why Done In One®’s approach keeps hygiene appointments affordable, accessible, and essential for long-term success.Packed with expert insight, analogies you’ll actually remember (yes, there’s a fingernail one), and relatable patient stories, this episode is your roadmap to keeping your full-arch restoration clean, healthy, and built to last.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 26 - The Patient's Guide to Full-Arch Maintenance (Part 1)
Full-arch implants aren’t “set it and forget it”—they’re a partnership. In this episode, Dr. Dan teams up with Erica and Dr. Hauer to outline a clear, no-drama playbook for maintaining healthy hybrid smiles over the long term. They break down simple daily care (using a soft brush and non-abrasive toothpaste, a water flosser at least once a day, and quick rinse hacks on the go) and explain why the choice between electric and manual matters less for hybrids than thoroughness. Then they dig into the big-picture stuff: the difference between tooth disease (periodontitis) and its implant counterparts (peri-implant mucositis/peri-implantitis), why implants can decline faster if ignored, and what an annual “under-the-hood” visit really checks—biology (bone/gums) and mechanics (screws, zirconia integrity, fit). You’ll also hear where they agree and disagree with current guidelines on removing prosthetics, why once-a-year removal hits the sweet spot, and how Done In One’s warranty ties to responsible maintenance.Bonus: modern zirconia and smarter design choices (hello, cleaner access channels and improved seals) mean qualified local providers can also provide safe assistance. Bottom line: full-arch maintenance isn’t hard—it’s important. Ep. 25 - The Myth of the 24-Hour Finals
Rushing a “final” full-arch in a day sounds dreamy... until it isn’t. In this candid episode, Dr. Dan and Lillia unpack why 24-hour finals often fall short: taste and aesthetics are personal (think ordering a burger “your way”), bites captured right after surgery are rarely perfect, and grinding finished zirconia can introduce long-term problems. They trace how the technology evolved–from face scans and photogrammetry to today’s faster mills and prettier zirconia–and explain why capability doesn't always equal wisdom. You’ll hear the hidden pitfalls (factory-style schedules, calibration slip-ups, even the industry’s prefab “shoebox” shortcuts) and the patient psychology that gets steamrolled when everything’s crammed into two visits. Then they contrast Done In One’s one-week, micro-appointment workflow: iterative try-ins, patient-driven tweaks, calmer recovery windows, and built-in quality checks that pinpoint where any inaccuracy creeps in. The takeaway is simple, transparent, and empathetic: yes, they can deliver in 24 hours, as many other clinics can, but the best results come from a few extra days of collaboration.Slow is smooth. Smooth is final.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 24 - Implant Deep Dive Part 2 - Precision and Progress
In this in-depth continuation of their previous conversation, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined once again by Patrick, Wes, and Blake for Part Two of an enlightening exploration of the technology shaping modern full-arch dentistry. Together, they unpack the evolution of digital workflows–from data acquisition to manufacturing–exploring how photogrammetry, milling, and 3D printing are redefining precision and patient outcomes.Listeners gain a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the tools, machines, and innovations that make today’s full-arch treatments faster, more accurate, and more predictable than ever before. The team also discusses how technology is transforming the patient experience, the ethical side of staying ahead of the curve, and the challenge of helping patients understand what truly sets one dental practice apart from another.Whether you’re a dentist, dental tech, or simply fascinated by the art and science of smile restoration, this episode bridges the gap between digital innovation and human connection — one arch at a time.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep.23 - Implant Deep Dive Part 1 - Evidence-Driven Implant Design
Host Dr. Daniel Noorthoek welcomes a three-guest “implant roundtable” to unpack how modern implant design and digital workflows shape full-arch outcomes. Dr. Blake Hauer—a new surgeon training with Done In One® Boca Raton—joins industry veterans Patrick Dewey, founder of SIN360, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Wes Voltz, the Florida territory rep for SIN, who has previously worked with BioHorizons and Neoss.Together, they trace the evolution from brand silos to evidence-driven choices, exploring why thread geometry matters (compression vs. tensile vs. shear), the advantages of platform switching and true conical/Morse-taper connections over flat butt joints, and the benefits of a single restorative platform across implant diameters for biology, inventory, and predictability. The group compares systems (including Neodent, SIN, and legacy designs such as Bicon/Ankylos) and explains why initial stability and immediate load depend on macro-design—not marketing. On the clinical side, Dr. Noorthoek and Dr. Hauer describe Done In One’s boutique, team-led culture and day-to-day flow (photogrammetry, CAD/CAM, additive/subtractive manufacturing) that enables fast, repeatable esthetics—and simple long-term repairs from preserved digital files. A moving first-look reveal underscores the patient impact, while market data (edentulism prevalence) highlights the large and underserved nature of the full-arch population. Ep. 22 - Done In One Boca - Meet Dr. Blake Hauer
Dr. Dan welcomes treatment coordinator Lillia and introduces Dr. Blake Hauer, the soon-to-be surgeon at Done In One®’s Boca location. A South Florida native and double Gator (UF undergrad and dental school), Dr. Hauer is completing his periodontics residency at Nova Southeastern and brings a specialist’s mindset to full-arch care—planning, precision, and long-term maintenance. They delve into why he chose periodontics and full-arch, how residency shaped his clinical philosophy, and why specialist training is crucial when managing complications. The trio also discusses culture, including predictable protocols, a tech-forward workflow, and a team that ensures a seamless patient experience from consultation to final follow-up. On the personal side, Blake shares travel plans to Japan, a love of basketball, tennis, and guitar (hello, “Californication”), life in Fort Lauderdale with his labradoodle Peaches, and meeting his partner Beth. Ep. 21 - Patient Interview - Coach Justin
Host Dr. Daniel Noorthoek sits down with Justin, a Done In One® patient and goalkeeper coach at North Carolina Wesleyan University, for a candid, feel-good story of reinvention—on and off the field. Justin shares his Florida roots (Merritt Island), college days at Radford University, a journeyman pro stint with the Orlando Lions and Boreham Wood FC, and unforgettable matches in Scotland (hello, penalty-save heroics at Dunfermline). He traces how journaling through the pressures of pro soccer led to writing—culminating in his memoir Small Time: A Life in the Football Wilderness and novel Thunder from a Clear Blue Sky—plus why he now finds zen repainting classic cars. The heart of the episode is Justin’s decision to tackle years of failing dentistry head-on: the guilt, the financial calculus, and why he chose a boutique, patient-first path over “big-box” chains or medical tourism. He credits community research (including Reddit mentor Paige Menzing) and Done In One’s transparent process—along with an efficient oral-sedation experience and the artistry of restorative assistant Nadia—for an outcome that had him talking, smiling, and swelling-free within 48 hours. Justin offers practical insights on athletic habits (sports drinks and mouth-breathing), what the first night really feels like, and why the zirconia “finish line” is worth the wait. Ep. 20 - Q&A With Dr. Dan - Part 2
In this sequel episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek tackles some of the biggest questions patients ask about the cost of full-arch dentistry. Why do fees vary so dramatically from one office to another? Why are so many practices hesitant to be upfront about pricing? And is dental insurance truly a scam—or simply a system never designed to cover comprehensive care?Dr. Noorthoek shares the history of why dentistry developed this way, how Done In One® built efficiency and transparency into their model, and why he believes patients deserve clear, attainable pricing without hidden fees. He also dives into the deeper question of why teeth are often treated as “cosmetic” by insurers despite their undeniable impact on overall health. From breaking down outdated mindsets in the dental industry to explaining how efficiency, experience, and intention drive fair pricing, this conversation goes straight to the heart of affordability, transparency, and patient trust.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 19 - Q&A With Dr. Dan - Part 1
On this week's episode, host Robert flips the script and interviews Dr. Daniel Noorthoek in a listener-fueled Q&A that cuts through full-arch dentistry’s biggest question marks. Dr. Dan demystifies bone grafting—what it actually does, when it’s needed, and how materials differ (DFDBA, cortical/trabecular cadaver mixes, bovine, beta-TCP)—plus when collagen membranes matter and why hybrids often require less grafting than people are told. He connects oral health to overall health, from acute dental infections (think lower-molar issues that can threaten the airway) to the well-documented role periodontal bacteria can play in cardiovascular risk. Finally, he lays out why his practice favors oral (conscious) sedation over IV/general anesthesia: fewer risks, shorter and gentler procedures, better implant positioning, and a calmer, more collaborative experience. Packed with practical takeaways—and a teaser for Part 2, coming next week!🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 15 - Managing Full-Arch Complications with Skill and Honesty
In this candid and wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek and Robert Odom tackle one of the most important — and often misunderstood — topics in full-arch dentistry: complications. From implant failure and infections to nerve injuries, prosthetic fractures, and aesthetic misfires, they explore the realities of what can go wrong, why it happens, and how it can be avoided or managed. Drawing on years of surgical and clinical experience, they pull back the curtain on the ethical challenges dentists face when balancing honesty, patient expectations, and the pressures of running a practice.Through relatable analogies — from baseball seasons to Fabergé eggs — Dr. Noorthoek emphasizes that success isn’t about never encountering complications, but about addressing them with transparency, empathy, and teamwork. The discussion also covers the role of patient education, how to navigate difficult conversations without blame, and why managing expectations can be as critical as surgical skill. Packed with insights for both practitioners and patients, this episode serves as a valuable reference on navigating “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of dental implant treatment.🎧 Listen now and go beyond the arches with us!💻 Visit the DIO website for more information: https://getdoneinone.com📩 Email questions or comments: [email protected]☎️ Speak to a Patient Care Coordinator: (561) 468-8812📲 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE BUILD OUR COMMUNITY! Ep. 14 - Full-Arch Prosthetics: The Behind the Scenes of Designing Confidence
In this episode of Beyond the Arches, Dr. Daniel Noorthoek is joined by restorative dentist Dr. Sarah Laks for an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to design and deliver a full-arch prosthetic smile. Together, they explore how function, aesthetics, and patient personality come together in the smile design process—and why clear communication is just as important as clinical skill. Dr. Laks shares how she balances “book-smart” rules with artistic instincts, navigates the emotional ups and downs patients experience after surgery, and collaborates closely with Done In One's in-house dental lab to fine-tune every detail from bite alignment to tooth shape. The conversation sheds light on the realities of multiple prototype fittings, why the “perfect smile” isn’t always perfectly symmetrical, and how the ultimate compliment is when no one can tell the teeth aren’t natural.
