Luukkonen, special teams power Sabres past Canadiens in critical game four
The Sabres have been a team that's shown the ability to respond all season long. After two dominating performances from Montreal, the trend continued in game four. Lindy Ruff made a change in goal, changes to his lineup, and changes on special teams paid off in a big way as Buffalo overcame a controversial goaltender interference call, and the Canadiens in a 3-2 win that evened the series at two games apiece. Sabres struggling to find answers after blowout loss in game three to Canadiens
The Canadiens more than dominated the Sabres in a 6-2 game three win Sunday night. The game might have been more lopsided that the score would indicate. The series has taken a decided turn in Montreal's favor with the Habs outscoring Buffalo 11-3 over the last two games in what is now a 2-1 series lead. Habs and Hab Nots: Previewing the Sabres/Canaidens series with guest Paul Hamilton
The Sabres were able to finish the Boston Bruins in six games, and had the benefit of waiting while Montreal and Tampa Bay went seven games. The Canadiens edged the lightning 2-1 Sunday night, setting up the first meeting between Buffalo and Montreal in the postseason since back in 1998 when the Sabres swept them. This year, the regular season series was 2-2-0. Who has the edge in what should be a very tight postseason match-up? Paul Hamilton joined Adam and Sal for a series preview. Sabres/Bruins head back to Boston for game six
It's well known in NHL playoff circles that the series clinching game is the hardest one to win. After a 14-year postseason drought, the Sabres found that out Tuesday night at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. David Pastrnak scored on a breakaway in overtime to lift the Bruins to a 2-1 win. The Sabres now lead the series 3-2 ahead of game six Friday night in Boston. Adam Benigni and Sal Maiorana share takes and a preview. Bills Draft Recap: Will Beane's strength in value and numbers approach pay off?
The grades on the 2026 Bills draft range from a straight A to barely passing. As always, we won't know the true answer for a number of years, but if anything, Bills GM and President of Football Operations Brandon Beane and his staff were deliberate in their approach. He (we think wisely) traded out of the first round and addressed some key positions, along with a somewhat surprising emphasis on cornerback. Adam Benigni and Sal Maiorana have a full review. Frustrated with Bills approach? Why trading down made/makes sense
Thursday night was about what Bills GM/President of Football Operations Brandon Beane didn't do - that was make a first round pick. Instead, as we expected, he trade down three times and out of the first round, adding picks and no doubt aligning those picks to what the Bills have evaluated with players that match value. After trading his second round pick for receiver DJ Moore, he starts Friday night near the top of the second round at 35, and has added to the haul, giving him many options moving forward. Adam Benigni and Sal Maiorana share takes on why this made sense. Follow Adam on Twitter/X: @adambenigni Watch Adam on Sports Talk Live Buffalo Monday nights at 7:00pm on WGRZ. Somethin' Bruin: Keys to a Sabres rebound with guest Matt Fairburn of the Athletic
The complexion of the opening round series between the Bruins and Sabres has changed after Boston's strong response with a 4-2 win in game two. No miracle comeback for Buffalo as was the case in game one. The Bruins have gained the edge with their physical, slow it down style that has negated the Sabres advantage in speed. Add to that, Buffalo now faces serious questions in goal. Matt Fairburn is the Sabres beat reporter for The Athletic. Bills pre-draft six pack: Why Buffalo should trade down from 26
Bills GM/President of Football Operations Brandon Beane made a point on Monday that so many of us have concluded about this year's draft. Without giving the actual number, he said that they are on the "low end" of where they typically are in terms of first round grades. That further supports the argument to try and trade down from the 26th pick. We think Beane will certainly try to do that if he can find a partner. Assuming he can't, Adam Benigni and Sal Maiorana talk about six different areas of need for Buffalo and players they could conceivably take in that spot. Tate, Tyson & the 2026 WR Class: Great Prospects, Wrong Expectations ft. Joe DeLeone
Bucky Brooks is joined by guest Joe DeLeone to discuss wide receiver prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, opening with the broader question of whether teams should keep paying $40M+ for receivers when the college pipeline keeps producing value picks like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua. They work through the top tier guys like Makai Lemon, Jordyn Tyson, and Carnell Tate — agreeing the class lacks a true blue-chip WR1, with Jordyn Tyson drawing the most discussion as the highest-ceiling prospect despite a lengthy injury history that could push him down boards. Omar Cooper Jr. gets praised as a reliable chain-mover out of Indiana but both hosts pump the brakes on first-round buzz, seeing him more as a WR3 who risks being overhyped by draft momentum. The episode closes with wild cards including Deion Burks, Kevin Coleman Jr., Bryce Lance from NDSU, and Brenen Thompson — who stole the combine with a 4.26 40-yard dash. Bills rally to top Bengals in absolute thriller
With the Bills down 28-18 with just under 9:00 left in the fourth quarter and the defense struggling to stop Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati offense, it would have been easy for some to think it was too much for Buffalo to overcome. Those who know Josh Allen know better. The Bills rallied with 21 points in a 4:30 span that featured a 40-yard TD run from Allen, back to back interceptions of Burrow, the first of which Christian Benford returned 63-yards for a touchdown, and a 4th down TD pass from Allen to rookie tight end Jackson Hawes to cap a dramatic 39-34 come from behind win. Buffalo improves to 9-4 solidifying their playoff hopes. Adam Benigni and Sal Maiorana were live with postgame reaction.
