    Come Unity

"Come Unity" is a recording of the Crazy Planet Band from a Newark, DE "Community Day" back in the time when there was a popular local movement to preserve some of the most beloved of Main Street places: The State Theater and The DeLuxe Luncheonette. The Copyright on my old paper copy of the lyrics says Sept 7, 1989. This was the only time this song was ever performed. I have fond memories of the State Theater from when I was a kid. But also from the era when Dave Bartholomew and Barry Solon introduced more international cinema offerings to the mix, which was fitting for a college town. The Laskaris brothers ran the Deluxe Luncheonette for 50 years. But they never owned the building next door to the State Theater! Many U of D alumni have precious memories of their “hang-out” where a number of them fell in love or met life-long friends. Many "Townie" folk remember the State Theater as the place where they saw their first movie when they were children. Both places are irreplaceable cultural and architectural losses to the town of Newark that will have to live on in our memories only. Whether you were a child growing up in Newark, DE or you were a college student hanging out at "The Greasy Spoon", that part of the landscape was wiped off the map by a man later convicted of defrauding the government and laudering the money into local real estate, and by the U of D planning department. Citizens made a valiant effort, but it was all in vain unless we learned something about our need for “unity” in future struggles for our “community”. These are the lyrics to "Come Unity". Vic You’ve lived and worked in this ol’ town so many years, it’s true But mean ol’ Mister Moneyman won’t even meet with you! You’re part of the community, but you’re not among the few Where property’s more precious than the whole communal view Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! Memories come flashing back from a little luncheonette Where we would sit in the booths and chat with everyone we met The brothers never owned the place, but they worked it fifty years! Along comes Mister Moneyman and the building disappears! Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! Once there was a theater from nineteen twenty-nine The stage and the acoustics there were truly something fine! But we live in the “New World” and it was old and in the way Besides, if you’ve got no money, then you ain’t got no say Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! So where’s he get so much money from? Can he buy up this whole town? And plan what he will do with it? And tear whatever down? Wherever there is character or culture to sustain, If he gets his greedy hands on it, what values will remain? Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! So celebrate community by speaking heart to heart And maybe we can learn from this and make another start! You’re part of the community, and it is part of you So concentrate on unity; You know it’s overdue! Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! (Come unity!) Come unity! Comin' Through

A poetic springtime love song written by Vic Sadot and released on a small home-made CD called "Songs of the Seasons" . The accompaniment is Clem Bown on a bamboo flute that he himself made, and Roberta Greenspan on violin. This recording was made by Jim Godwin, Host of "Greener Pastures" Radio Show on WXDR (now WVUD, the Voice of the University of Delaware). What a great friend Jim Godwin was to me and to so many others in the DE music community!

    The Rugged Hills of Landenberg

The Rugged Hills of Landenberg was inspired by a poem by C. Edwin Smith from a 1936 news clipping that Eleanor Lafferty Sadot kept as a bookmark from her childhood days. (Lyrics below!) She shared the poem with her grown children when she found it still being used as a bookmark after all those years. In the poem Edwin Smith was dying and his last wish was to live long enough to see Landenberg in the autumn one last time. According to the legend as told by Eleanor Sadot he did live to enjoy the autumn and had the pleasure of having his poem applauded in the local rural circles when it was published in a local newspaper and read by the teachers and students like Eleanor Lafferty in the Kennett Square, PA schools. Vic’s song inspired by Edwin Smith's poem is a tribute to his mother, Eleanor Lafferty Sadot. Vic's song celebrates all the wonder of all the seasons, and each season gets a verse. The song salutes his mother’s roots as a farm girl growing up on Mercer Mill Road and attending a one room school house for 8 grades. Eleanor attended the 1990 Landenberg Day events along the White Clay Creek at which Vic first performed the song. Vic was accompanied by Lester Craig Maurer on the fiddle, who created the music and concept of The Frog Jog, and was a founding member of C. P. Swampgrass with Vic and Joe Sadot. The song was lovingly dedicated to Eleanor Lafferty that day. The Last FM version of The Rugged Hills of Landenberg was released on a Limited Edition home burn CD of studio recordings titled "Songs of the Seasons", a romantic, poetic, and environmentally green and engaged set of songs. The Rugged Hills of Landenberg was recorded by Dean A Banks. Vic Sadot sings and plays acoustic guitar. Rob Sadot graces the song with a sweet country soul style of electric guitar. The Rugged Hills of Landenberg The rugged hills of Landenberg, robed in rolling shades of green Challenge us to wander thru the woodland summer scene Where children laugh and splash away endless days down by the stream And lovers stroll to the music of the rippling water’s theme Chorus #1 Oh the rippling waters theme… And the way it makes you dream… Oh the rippling waters theme… And the way it makes you dream… The rugged hills of Landenberg of my mother’s childhood days Must be the inspiration for her persevering ways Yes, they must be the source of wholesome values that she shows In the love she has to offer and how generously it flows Chorus #2 Oh how generously it flows! Oh how generously it flows! And how genuinely it shows the rugged hills of Landenberg! Oh rugged hills, we know your raiment will soon turn to autumn’s hues And we know the price of progress cause we’ve seen what we can lose Still I hope we have the vision! Still I hope we have the will! To be Guardians of these wildlands that still flourish in these hills! Chorus #3 Oh they flourish in these hills! How they flourish in these hills! Oh, the wild and rugged hills! The rugged hills of Landenberg! The rugged hills of Landenberg become majestic robed in white! When the snowflakes come a’tumblin’ from the heavens hazy height… May it stun you into wonder of a rare and pure delight! May these rugged hills inspire you to keep your spirit burning bright! Chorus #4 Keep your spirit burning bright! Let it ride the misty light! Through the rugged hills tonight! The rugged hills of Landenberg! Copyright 1990 Vic Sadot, BMI, Orbian Love Music

    Locked on the Labels

I recall writing this song in a sudden flow of lyrics. This song must have been written around 1973 when I first started writing lyrics to three chord folk ballads. The ideas seem relevant to the deliberately confusing and manipulative contexts of today. Vic Locked on the Labels By Vic Sadot The fields are afire! The clouds are ablaze! With colors full-flowing through the key-hole I gaze I sing for the sunset, the death of the day When truth is held trouble to seek and to say And the door is locked on the labels we use I’m bored with appealing to minds on the shelf I know that I’m stealing this time from myself There’s pine in the forest. There’s moss on the stone. I could be alone in some zone of my own But the door is locked on the labels we use A child at the crossroads of heaven and hell My finger I ran up that crack in the bell For I was but nine when I touched Liberty And the hypocrite’s “reverence” I barely could see And the door was locked on the labels we use The will of our ancestor’s urging us on The right to unite is suddenly gone The right to rebellion is branded blood red And punishment’s good if it’s legally led And the door is locked on the labels we use Preachers pretending they found the last truth Holding up progress, confusing the youth Confusing the parents and wasting their bread Claiming they’re saving the damned and the dead And the door is locked on the labels we use My lyric can’t capture that sparkle I see In the eyes of the children depending on me I question my senses. My sanity too! My answer commences. I mention my view. But the door is locked on the labels we use Your song is too long! Can’t you say it in brief. We don’t have the time to indulge your belief. You sound like a “radical”… Bet he’s a Jew… “The country’s infested with ‘commies’ like you!” And the door is locked on the labels we use Instrumental It’s very efficient. You don’t have to think. Dismiss the whole problem… Paint dissent pink! Still one definition’s consistently true And that definition of all that you do And that “you” is locked on the labels we use My lyric can’t capture that sparkle I see In the eyes of the adults of humanity I question my senses. Your sanity too! In the eyes of the children depending on you And the door is locked on the labels we use We’re millions of years in the making it seems Bestial priorities breaking our dreams Crucify children, our future, we’re told By routine revisions of “Wounded Knee” cold And the door is locked on the labels we use We call this “intelligence”; knowing it’s not! We’re risking the only survival we’ve got We surely keep living in life we instill The new day is flowing from deeds we fulfill And the door is locked on the labels we use The system grows savage; We don’t understand. But “greed is success” is lore of the land Now mourn for the people’s corruption my friends Cause we’ve got the means to get the good ends But the door is locked on the values we choose I’m partly beheaded by the guillotine view I’m already wedded to billions of you I know that I’m stealing this time from your self And why should you listen to a self like your self When the time is life much too precious to lose The fields are afire! The clouds are ablaze! With colors full-flowing through the key-hole I gaze I sing for the sunrise, the dawn of the day! When truth is held precious to seek and to say And the key is each one who’s willing to choose!

    The Spirit of the Trees

This song came from attending East Bay Area events and from studying the websites of key activist environmental groups, such as the Hills Conservation Network, East Bay Pesticide Alert, The Tree Spirit Project, Save the East Bay Hills, and the Coalition to Defend East Bay Forests. Scroll down for lyrics! NOTE: There will be a gathering on Aug 28 from 2 - 4 pm at Redwood Gardens to hear Jack Gescheit of Tree Spirit Project. That's Jack to the left in the photo. He will speak on Sunday 8/28/16 at the Redwood Gardens Community Room, 2951 Derby St, Berkeley, CA 94705. http://treespiritproject.com I will add some more links below my lyrics for those who want to study this issue further, including a link to the BFUU Social Justice Committee YouTube Channel playlist on Trees. Since this is a home recording, it is not up to the quality I usually get from my local studio. I apologize for that. I'll do a better professional studio recording later. For now, I thought that this song might be helpful to groups presently and urgently working on this issue. Many groups have joined the Coalition To Defend East Bay Forests in opposition to a plan by FEMA, UC Berkeley, City of Oakland, and the East Bay Regional Parks to de-forest and apply herbicides without re-planting trees, a boondoggle that will make a lot of money for Monsanto and others promoting a "war on invasive species" marketed as an "emergency" fire prevention program. It's a major struggle to educate the community most affected by this plan that could have a bad effect on the watershed and the health of all living things in the SF Bay Area. Photo by Vic Sadot/Claremont Canyon 10-28-15 Hike The Spirit of the Trees by Vic Sadot The trees are alive! And because they breathe… We get clean air from the forests full of leaves! You feel it in the Redwoods! Inhale it in the breeze! We been a long time breathin’ in The Spirit of the Trees! Along comes FEMA! The bureaucracies! From the parks! And the cities! Universities! They pay corporate scientists to say it’s ok! They pay politicians! Make it legal to spray! Chorus #1: But you don’t have a right to spray! Experiment on us in any way! And you don’t learn from yesterday! You’re gonna get resistance round the Bay! We are standing with the Spirit of the Trees! The Spirit of the Trees! The Spirit of the Trees! We are standing with the Spirit! The Spirit of the Trees! We are standing with the Spirit of the Trees! You like to make decrees! Declare emergencies! You sell it as a “war” on “invasive species”! You make dirty money! You do as you please! But we can’t tolerate your toxic remedies! Don’t be contemptuous when the people say! You don’t have any right to spray! That toxic substance in your war-like way! If it gets in our water, it could kill our Bay! Chorus #2: So you don’t have a right to spray! Experiment on us in any way! But you know how to make it pay! You’re gonna get resistance round the Bay! We are standing with the Spirit of the Trees! The Spirit of the Trees! The Spirit of the Trees! We are standing with the Spirit! The Spirit of the Trees! We are standing with the Spirit of the Trees! The trees are alive and because they breathe We get clean air from the forests full of leaves! You feel it in the Redwoods! Inhale it in the breeze! Votes On Paper

I sang this song last night at the Berkeley Fellowship Monthly Open Mic, Ray Korona's Votes on Paper. See lyrics by Ray Korona below. Learn it and sing it to your friends. Votes on Paper is a clever and sensible little song about a bigger problem than the occasional "voter fraud" by a voter. We're talking about "election theft" or "vote theft" also known as "fixing the election" or "flipping the numbers". At the start that's folksinger Nancy Schimmel saying from the audience that she saw a bumper sticker that said "Who did your voting machine vote for?" I mention No Lies Radio and the "False Flag Weekley News Show" (hosted by Kevin Barrett and Tony Hall with 2016 Election Reports by Jim Fetzer) in the set up to the song. See Bev Harris and BlackBoxVoting dot org for a deeper look into the issue of electronic voting machines without paper verifiability. Votes on Paper by Ray Korona "VOTES ON PAPER" - Ray Korona Band (3:18) at Ray Korona YouTube Channel 5-20-09. Now video #35 in the #TruthTroubadourShowcase at the #TruthTroubadourYouTube Channel by Vic Sadot. Ray note: “Electronic voting machines steal votes and change election results! Here's the story in song.” Performed by Ivice, Gina Tlamsa, Ellen Davidson, Sharon Abreu and Ray Korona. Ray Korona passed 10-16-14 RIP. http://youtu.be/XYB8bpILRT4?list=PLFDD6E9F4AD3F2AE6 A D They said vote in the elections! It’s what good people do E A We’ve got these new machines. It’s amazing but it’s true A D Just touch the screen a few times. It computes your vote for you E A And you don’t even need any paper! A D They said it couldn’t crash. The program couldn’t fail. E A So there wasn’t any reason to keep a paper trail A D Well the counters all went crazy. We were sold a fairy tale E A Now it’s hopeless ‘cause they left us without paper Chorus: A D You can scream, you can plead, you can argue all night E A They may be wrong; you may be right A D Use a voting machine to settle the fight E A Just be sure it records your vote on paper Our candidate was winning; the polls were very sure She spoke out for the people; she campaigned against the war And we knew she really meant what she told us she was for And they called her the front runner in the paper The exit polls confirmed it; her lead was growing fast But the digital read-outs left everyone aghast Her opponent got more votes than the total that were cast Bet she would have done much better on paper Repeat Chorus If you go shopping at a store when your purchase is complete You pay for what you bought and they hand you a receipt It establishes a record that makes it hard to cheat Since what you paid is written on the paper If someone selling you his car would ask you to pay cash On a handshake and his word, would it seem a little rash? To trust him with your money, well I just got this flash… Wouldn’t that be just like voting with no paper? Douce France

"Douce France" is a parody by Vic Sadot of the song written in 1943 by Charles Trenet in France during the Nazi occupation, Vichy collaboration, and the French Resistance. It was not recorded until 1947 after the Liberation from the Occupation. This is a parody, but not a mocking one. It expresses a love and preference for a liberated and free France over one led by corruption and fascism. See French Lyrics & Translation in English below: Douce France (2015 Parodie De Chales Trenet 1947) Par Vic Sadot Douce France est une chanson écrite par Charles Trenet en 1943, composée avec Léo Chauliac, enregistrée en 1947. The Ballad of Pat Tillman

The song was released on 9/11/11 on a CD titled "9/11 Truth & Justice Songs" by Vic Sadot at CD Baby. https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/vicsadot3 To learn this song or to play along on the chords, use these progressions: Verse: GGDD / CCGG / GGDD / CCGG Chorus: DDCC / EmEmB7B7 / CCGG / DDEmEm Bridge: CCGG/ DDB7B7/ CCGG/ DDEmEm This is a free 128 kbps mp3 being posted in honor of Pat Tillman's Nov 6 birthday. He would have been 41 this year. (RIP 11-06-1976 - 4-22-2004)Please share it! See "Download" under "More". The song was written by Vic Sadot after reading the Editor & Publisher AP story, and others, after Pat Tillman’s death. See “Was Pat Tillman Murdered? – AP Gets Coroner Documents” 7-26-07 Editor & Publisher. (Lyrics below) http://www.editorandpublisher.com/news/was-tillman-murdered-ap-gets-new-documents Excerpt: “Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman’s forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player’s death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press. ‘The medical evidence did not match up with the, with the scenario as described,’ a doctor who examined Tillman’s body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators. The doctors – whose names were blacked out – said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away...” Ballad of Pat Tillman (lyrics) Pat Tillman was a kind and a caring little boy He brought his mom and pop a lot o’ laughter, pride, and joy They tried to teach their son how to tell the right from wrong How not to be a bully just because you’re big and strong Young Tillman was a legendary famous football star He was handsome. He was humble, and admired from afar He made a lot o’ big plays for his Arizona team… And he made a lot of money in the American dream! But after Nine-Eleven, he had to throw it all away To fight those “evil doers” who could kill in such a way When the Towers and the Pentagon were scenes of blood and death Pat Tillman swore to avenge them or to breathe his dyin’ breath Chorus: So remember Patrick Tillman when those flags are all displayed How the Empire stole “Old Glory” for a fear and hate parade! Yes, remember Patrick Tillman! The many like him lies have made! And Hell has no fury like a patriot betrayed! Instrumental Bridge #1 He believed the “official story” Bush told of the attack To take the “war on terror” to Afghanistan and Iraq He started asking questions from those far-off battlefields He was reading Noam Chomsky… to his mother he revealed On that fateful day when those bullets cut him down Well, he was hailed a hero in every little town The Pentagon exploited him as a recruitment poster boy Made up a phony story for the media to deploy His parents at the funeral were torn with grief and strife They were used just like young Patrick who’d just lost his only life The tragic truth was not revealed! It was “friendly murder”, not the foe! They were lied to like the “hero” of the propaganda show (chorus) Instrumental Bridge #2 They were roundly castigated when they dared to tell aloud How their son investigated…How that also made them proud How he planned to work for peace, if he’d ever make it back Pious pundits called them “traitors” in a wolf pack attack Pat Tillman was a legendary famous football star He was handsome. He was humble, and admired from afar He made a lot of forays for his Army Ranger team… But Patrick died for Bush’s lies…For a nightmare, not a dream! Alive he might be helping take the treason team apart He was bravely asking questions, yes, and he was very smart If Nine-Eleven Truth reveals a home-made psy-war raid… Then this phony “war on terror” ‘s just a cover-up charade!
