Hope House exists to provide a home for children between the ages of ten (10) and eighteen (18) (and then those youth who turn eighteen prior to or during their senior year in High School) who are emotionally impaired, developmentally disabled, and/or come from disrupted adoptions or dysfunctional families.Hope House serves children from all areas of the United States, although the vast majority, come from the western United States. JEMfriendsAging-out youth face tremendous adversities, and many of them personallyexperience the reality of these devastating hardships.When faced with such challenges, aged-out youth need a supportive environmentto help them take steps towards independence.Liberty (Barrett) Thompson – Founder, Executive DirectorLiberty grew up in the Boise, Idaho, area as the third of seven siblings.  From a young age, she demonstrated a concern for the orphans and forgotten and pursued friendships with those overlooked by others.  In 2008, Liberty founded JEMfriends with the vision that each youth aging out of foster care would have opportunities to flourish in a society that understands their adversity and supports them in becoming loving adults.  Currently, Liberty serves as the Executive Director for JEMfriends, leading several programs that support aged out youth and increasing awareness about the needs of these youth in the community. She also  engages many youth in the community through personal mentoring and coaching. She is enthusiastic, motivated, and creative in her leadership of the JEMfriends community.  Her life goal is to passionately serve others as Jesus did and to love without overlooking anyone. She enjoys spending time with her husband Daniel and daughter, Jaynah Alexis Flores – Community Engagement CoordinatorAlexis was born and raised in Texas and moved to Idaho when she was a freshman in high school. She graduated college in Salem, Oregon, with a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Trauma and Addictions and Children and Family. Alexis loves to spend time with friends and family, go for drives listening to music way too loudly, meeting others for coffee to share the joys and struggles of life, and being in the sun outside whenever she can! Alexis is excited to be part of the JEMfriends team because of how JEMfriends serves to be a support and friend to those who need it. She firmly believes that everyone needs one person in their life who makes them feel seen, heard, cared for, and worthy of love. Alexis believes anyone has the ability to make a difference in their community and is passionate about getting people involved. Her devotion to this under-served population helped me to see how vulnerable they can be. Over time, it became clear to me and my wife, Debbie, that modern-day foster children are the orphans God calls us to care for (James 1:27).Our daughter, Jenna, and her husband, David were doing just that by fostering kids in their home. As we entered the foster care world with them, we began to grasp how challenging life can be like for foster kids — especially foster teens; how trauma and broken promises make many of these young people wonder if they are worthy of love, or anything at all. Is it any wonder that so many of these beautiful, image-bearers of God struggle mightily as adults?This fact broke our hearts and compelled us to act. Inspire Idaho allows us to engage young people experiencing foster care to affirm their value, offer them hope, and equip them to flourish; to meet them where they are, discover who they want to be, and help them to build a roadmap to get there. The JEMfriends story began in the heart of a young girl who was deeply grieved at the thought of anyone being rejected or forgotten. From the time she first understood the meanings of abortion and adoption, Liberty (Barrett) Thompson dreamed of establishing a home where rejected children could be safe and loved. Liberty’s parents introduced her to the work of Hope House, a local children’s home.As a teenager, Liberty read the story of Amanda, a girl her age, who had been placed in several foster homes, experienced a failed adoption, and had eventually arrived at Hope House. In Amanda’s story, Liberty saw someone who needed a friend. Liberty used her high school years to engage with girls living at Hope House through playing sports, writing letters, and leading prayer groups. Through Liberty’s persistent effort, Amanda became her best friend.In 2008, the time came for both girls to graduate high school. Liberty could see that youth aging out of foster care face difficult circumstances, but she finally understood the degree of adversity they face the day Amanda asked Liberty to speak for her at her graduation. While pondering her responsibility and how to best encourage Amanda in her transition, Liberty searched the internet for information on youth leaving children’s homes. She discovered the concept of aging out and the dire situation it presented. Three statistics burned into her mind.Within 2 years of aging-out, 50% of aged out youth will not have finished high school, 25% will be incarcerated, 50% will be homeless.Kimbra Shaw, Treasurer – Kimbra and her family have lived in Idaho for 20 years. Family is central to her values and she enjoys having everyone over for Sunday dinner. She came to JEMfriends because of the family-like connections they help JEMyouth create. Her passion is for developing leaders and creating organizational stability and sustainability. She brings deep experience in multiple sectors ranging from large corporate sales to community development. Angi Jamieson was involved in CEF in Texas, before moving to Kuna, Idaho. She also serve as the Children's Director for Good News Community Church in Nampa. She  has a passion for reaching children with the Gospel of Jesus, and working with others with the same heart.Treasure Valley CEF is a local chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) in Idaho. Our mission is to evangelize and disciple children with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish them in a local church. Jim Gentlehttps://thebucketministry.org/meet-the-team/Jim was born in 1956 the second son of a young US Air Forcefamily and moved many times as his Dad transferred from one assignment to another .Having to make new friends from so many different backgrounds pointed the way to a career in sales . In fact his first sales job started at the age of 6 when he walked the county roads going door to door selling greeting cards.A commission check was a great motivator to learn the skill set needed to become more than your brothers or friends thought possible . It turned out to be the providence of God at work .He and his wife got married right after high school . Three kids , five grandkids and just short of 50 years together . Guess the sales skills came in handy .In 1989 Jim started in automobile sales , loved it and made it a career lasting 31 years . Funny thing , it wasn’t about a love for cars, it was a love for people that created that career .Searching for a way to create significance over success God led him to The Bucket Ministry . He started out making donations but God had a bigger vision . Pastor Matt asked him to join a mission trip to Kenya.“Next thing I knew I was out of the boat and standing in Nairobi Kenya . I had always dreamed of the chance to go to Africa but it never included the Kibera Slum . “That trip changed everything .He just came back from the Kenya Extreme Expedition and is headed to Kenya again in March and July of 2024 .“I like to think of this as being in service to the KIng ” Being in fealty to the KIng means to do as He commands , go when He says to go and give it your best daily .
