    Ep 218 - Can I have a dalliance - Shield of Sparrows 2/5

It’s week 2 with Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry! This week, we keep on keeping on because Odessa has to keep on keeping on. She finally gets on shore, but her hardships don’t stop when she finds herself smack dab in the middle of an RPG. It’s almost as if she’s Zelda! She crosses the plain of Turah and faces down monsters, all the while not facing her husband and instead eyeing the handsome Guardian. She finally makes her way to a tree-top village and has to learn how to survive in this brutal new landscape!

Ep 217 - Nobody tells her anything - Shield of Sparrows 1/4

It's week one with our new book, Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry and this week we're reading chapters 1-12. So we are obsessed with this book and had a great time exploring the first 12 chapters! We meet our main characters, Odessa and the Guardian and the world they live in is plagued by monsters! To survive, the Kingdoms signed a treaty that required a Princess to marry a neighbouring kingdom's Prince to create connections. That was NOT supposed to be Odessa, but her fate changed, and she became THE SPARROW.

    Ep 216 - Does Harald Smell?? - ACCiB 4/4

It's our last week with A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle L Jensen, and this week we're reading chapters 40 to the end! This week, we see Freya try to save Bjorn by turning Harald's allies against him - the only problem is, they all still like Harald, so her plan was terrible. Bjorn didn't really have a plan, though, so I guess the fact that she kind of had one was better than nothing. She and Bjorn finally have their moment, and we get all the answers that we needed.

  4. 222

Ep 215 - Not that kind of come! - ACCiB 3/4

It’s week 3 of A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle L Jensen, and this week we’re reading chapters 28-39. This week, we roll our eyes almost consistently as some truths are revealed. We learn Harald’s real plans, and we eyeroll at how easily manipulated our main characters are AND how easily they seem to get over things. Freya and Bjorn end up reconciling, stranded on an island, but it doesn’t last long…and then all of the other deaths that happened don’t matter as long as they stay safe.  It's eyeroll central!

    Ep 214 - P's, T's and S's - ACCiB 2/4

It's week 2 with A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle L Jensen, and we're reading chapters 13-27. This week, we get annoyed with both Bjorn and Freya because they are both ridiculous. Freya is still mad at Bjorn (valid), but Bjorn wants to run away with Freya, which would be out of character for her (which is what she needs in order to change her fate), but she insists on being manipulated. She also gets kidnapped, and Bjorn throws his axe into the guy's face.....so that was fun.

    Ep 213 - Pillage a Village - A Curse Carved in Bone 1/4

It's our first week reading A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle L Jensen and this week we're reading chapters 1-12. This week, we recap what happened with A Fate Inked in Blood poorly since we struggle to remember what happens....Freya still holds a grudge against Bjorn for not being honest with her, but he's still obsessed with her and refuses to give up. Also, all of Harald's people either want to be Freya's friend or kill her to protect themselves so...no middle ground. Plus...they villanize orcas which we are not here for! I also read an excerpt from my daughter's book in the intro!

  7. 219

    Ep 212 - Did someone just OW? - TBoA - 4/4

It's our last week with The Book of Azrael by Amber V Nicole and this week we're reading chapters 38-51! This week, we learn most of what's going on! We kind of know who Kaden is, we definitely know who Tobias is, we know if there's a book and we know that Azrael's daughter has it! However, we don't know a lot and we find it frustrating...especially with this super slow burn. And the ending is annoying....but the book is good!

  8. 218

Ep 211 - Look at this photograph - TBoA 3/4

It's week 3 with The Book of Azrael by Amber V Nicole and this week we're reading chapters 27-38. This week sees our main characters go through a bumpy patch. They both know they want each other, but they are staying away from each other to protect the other. Plus, we meet a certain vampire who makes a certain God jealous and rethinks his situationship with a certain Ig'Morruthun. ITS NOT GOOD NEWS!!! And finally when they're about to KISS, the chapter ends and we are unsatisfied....too many characters to care about!

  9. 217

    Ep 210 - Thor Fanfic - TBoA 2/4

It's our second week with The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole and this week we're reading chapters 13-26. This week, our main characters develop a connection...since Dianna threatens one of Liam's friends if he doesn't help her. Definitely the basis for a strong relationship! They go on an adventure and Dianna is threatened and we see just how far Liam is willing to go to protect her....so he can call her an idiot later on. Plus, Dianna finally starts to see how broken Liam is....and tries to help him heal!

  10. 216

Ep 209 - Are you wearing yellow right now? - The Book of Azrael 1/4

It's week one with the Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole and this week we're reading chapters 1-12. This week we meet Dianna and Liam and we get a whole lot that we didn't expect - what goes from what we think is a dark romance with a bit of fantasy, turns out to be a full blown romantasy saga! We dive into the world with all the weird names and struggle through them painfully.....and Catherine confronts Kristen's fashion choices.....it's a fun week!

  11. 215

    Ep 208 - Born to be a Cool Guy - Mate 4/4

It's our last week with Mate by Ali Hazelwood, and this week we're reading chapters 31 to the end! This week there's a TON of scandelous spicy moments....essentially half of the chapters this week are just constant sauce. Serena goes into her heat and Koen has to decide whether or not to help her through it. We also have to solve the issue of the vampires trying to assassinate her (solved in one sentence) and the issue of Irene the cult leader (solved in maybe 6-8 pages). With all that solved...we learn what will become of Koen and his place as Alpha (also solved relatively quickly....but how??)

  12. 214

Ep 207 - Stop Being SO Mean to Her! - Mate 3/4

It's week 3 reading, Mate by Ali Hazelwood, and this week we're reading chapters 21-30! This week, Koen FINALLY figures out why Serena has wanted to be alone so badly, and that whole section really made one of us emotional. We have a great discussion about how dismissed women are in health care (IT'S RELEVANT, TRUST ME), and we have to figure out where werewolves stand on the good ole consent issue....to be fair, we still don't know.

  13. 213

Ep 206 - Putting the Juice in it - Mate 2/4

It's week 2 with Mate by Ali Hazelwood and this week we're reading chapters 11-20! This week, Serena gets uncomfortably close living with Koen. But her plan works and lots of vampyres come and try to kill her (we don't see that though!) Instead we get a lot of deep breaths and comforting smells....we also get a lot of naked weres and a lot of mean people who want Serena to go away and leave poor Koen alone, because as it turns out, he's required to be celibate be Alpha! Who knew!? Oh wait....we did.....from Bride.....

  14. 212

    Ep 205 - Man Vampyre Guy - Mate 1/4

It's our first week with Mate by Ali Hazelwood, and this week we're reading chapters 1-10. This week we are reacquainted with all of the characters from Bride, including Serena, a headstrong half werewolf - half human, and her mate Koen....only thing is, Koen doesn't want to be mates, and Serena doesn't really know what mates are supposed to be, so she just has to go by what Koen tells her......huge mistake! Oh yeah....and Serena has this huge secret about why she's been unable to shift, that Koen REALLY wants to find out about.

  15. 211

Ep 204 - Shooting Blanks - Throne of the Fallen 4/4

It's our last episode of Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco! This week, we're talking chapters 53 to the end! In this last episode, Camilla and Envy FINALLY have their night together, and it is intense! But then it's right back to the business of winning the game! Some things happen that confuse us, and we finally find out Camilla's true identity and why Envy's court is so foggy! Will our couple get their happily-ever-after? (They def will because we only read HEAs).

  16. 210

Ep 203 - Power of: Electric Eel! - 3/4 Throne of the Fallen

It's week 3 with Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco, and we're reading chapters 37-52! This week, we FINALLY start to get some answers! We learn a little about Camilla's heritage and a little more about Envy's court situation! Plus, we meet some psycho vampires, and Vexley shows up when we least expect him, and we hate it!

  17. 209

Ep 202 - Girl Dinner - Throne of the Fallen 2/4

It's week 2 with Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco and this week we're reading chapters 18-37! This week, we have all the questions because Camilla has secrets and we just want to know what they are.....Envy also has secrets but CAMILLA'S ARE WORSE! We also get some saucy moments where Envy and Camilla get closer but it just leaves us with the question...who is Camilla, and what's her deal??

  18. 208

Ep 201 - A whole new world of regrets - Throne of the Fallen 1/4

It's week 1 with our first book of 2026, and we're reading Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco! This week we're reading chapters 1-17. In this week's episode, we reconnect with the Prince of Envy and his quest to play a game....but first, we had to read the rules. Then we meet the one in his way, Camilla - who legit has soooo many secrets it's ridiculous. She's an artist who has a skeezy guy blackmailing her....it's much better when Envy helps her get away from this guy and blackmails her himself. We just want to know her secrets!

  19. 207

New Year's Special - A study in contradictions!

It's our annual New Year's countdown! Where we rank the books we read this year and discuss our top 10! What books have we ranked the same? Which ones are different? We don't know!!! But we do know that this is gonna be fun!

  20. 206

    Ep 200 - Everyone's Heart is Wet - ACoSaS 4/4

It's our last week with A Court of Sugar and Spice by Rebecca F Kenney, and this week we're reading chapters 23 to the end! This week, we get love declarations all around! But the way Louisa reacts to hers doesn't have us swooning. Clara also has a brush with death, but it goes away? And the person we least expect to come in and save the day makes an appearance! Why? Plot reasons!

  21. 205

Ep 199 - Not in the splash zone! - ACoSaS 3/4

It's week 3 with A Court of Sugar and Spice by Rebecca F Kenney, and this week we're reading chapters 14-22. This week, the house gets attacked, so the group needs to venture out into the wild! It's repeated a million times that Finias is super powerful, so essentially, if he's around, it's a guaranteed win! He and Clara get closer, and she divulges certain fantasies that he is keen to assist with. Meanwhile, Louisa and Lir continue to have all the red flags, and Louisa just continues making terrible decisions like dancing in her underwear around a stranger's house! They hate each other, then want each other, until Lir decides he doesn't hate her at all, and we don't know what to do with this confession......and neither does Louisa.

  22. 204

    Ep 198 - Big Brain Moment - ACoS&S 2/4

It's week 2 with the novel A Court of Sugar and Spice by Rebecca F Kenney, and this week we're reading chapters 8-14! This week, the eyerolls continue! Louisa is a straight-up horn dog, while Clara turns out to be freakier than we thought, and the Prince is a bit of a prude! Our intrepid heroines find their way into situations where kissing is the only way to survive.....and that happens a lot....meanwhile, the Sugarplum Fairy has been his normally charming self and shows interest in Clara (which she reciprocates!).

  23. 203

Ep 197 - You Convinced Me - A Court of Sugar and Spice 1/4

It's week one with our holiday-themed book, A Court of Sugar and Spice by Rebecca F. Kenney, and this week we're reading chapters 1-7! This week, we meet our two main characters, Clara and Louisa and their unfortunate circumstances now that their father is dead and they have to move into their Godfather's house! We meet the (smuldering?) nutcracker, and Kristen tries to point out all of the differences between this Nutcracker retelling and the original ballet while Catherine deals with it!

  24. 202

    Ep 196 - She's Very Clumsy - Gild 4/4

It's our last week with Gild by Raven Kennedy, and we're finishing off with chapters 24 to the end! This week, we meet the pirates who attacked Auren's party, and they are terrible people....definitely not the hot pirates we know and love. The goal is for them to sell Auren and the other saddles off, but they are stopped by the hot commander from the 4th Kingdom. He's a fae warrior, so of course we love him. But before he can take Auren away, the captain wants to try her out, and we learn what truly happens when you cross Auren.

  25. 201

    Ep 195 - I just jumped down your throat - Gild 3/4

It's our third week with Gild by Raven Kennedy and this week we're reading chapters 14-23. This week, we see the aftermath of Midas' betrayal, and he's just as psychotic as we thought! 26. 200

    Ep 194 - My Precious - Gild 2/4

It's week 2 with Gild by Raven Kennedy and this week we're reading chapters 9-13. This week, we see Auren get ready for her night with the gross King Fulke. She needs to come to terms with her relationship with Midas and how it's changed in the 10 years they've been together.....back when she was 15 and he was 22 (vomit....). She goes to the ball and is treated like an object, and then we find out Midas' true plan.....and boy is it a doozy!

  27. 199

Ep 193 - Why are there so many red flags? - Gild 1/4

It's time to dive into a new book! This month we're reading Gild by Raven Kennedy and this week we're reading chapters 1-8. This week we meet our main character, Auren, who has a very particular circumstance - she's completely dusted in gold, and lives in a gilded cage with the man who put her there, King Midas. But here's the twist - she loves him and apparently he loves her too, even though he's married to the Queen and even though he has a ton of servants whose sole responsibility is being available for sex whenever he wants. Yet for some reason, Auren loves him and wants to please him - but this week, Midas goes too far, and promises a night with Auren to a neighboring King to have access to his army. Auren has to rectify the man she loves with this King of ambition, and it sucks for her!

We FINALLY figure out who the Other is....we think.....and we momentarily actually have the hots for Rekk Zharos.............it's a problem......but bonus? We don't hate the ending, and there's no heartbreaking cliffhanger for us!

We go to Khan's kingdom and meet his buddies, and we also, finally, finally get some answers about Elluin and who Khan thinks Raeve really is (hint....it has to do with Elluin!!!!)

She kills men and has fun with it - but she meets one guy and she can smell him...so you know what that means! An orphan she took in is collateral damage, and she lets her alter ego take over and kills a bunch more people for revenge before being apprehended by the king's guard. She's real mad about it, too!

She is captured by the Shadowborn vampire royals after she killed their Prince - her maker, and instead of killing her, the unwanted son takes her on a perilous mission to the underworld instead. The issue, though, is that the God that she pledged her life to has just brought her back into his good graces, with the promise that she will fulfill a dangerous mission in the underworld - to kill a God. We also talk about a lot of stuff....

  37. 189

They have some more hot times, and Ophelia finally finds her sister and then sends her away immediately, which makes us question, what was the point? Then Ophelia finally takes on the 8th level, and she comes face to face with the ruler of Phantasma and has to figure out how to save Blackwell and their relationship!

  38. 188

She goes through two levels of Phantasma and has a super embarrassing moment during one of them. She also has to deal with the house itself and all the dangers it wants to let loose on her, in addition to her fellow housemates, who also seem hellbent on killing her! 44. 182

Ep 176 - This mountain is Switzerland - AFIIB 2/4

It's week 2 with A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle J Jensen, and this week we're reading chapters 11-18! This week, Freya has to learn her place as the second wife of Jarl Snorri and how the gods plan to test her worthiness. She goes on a pilgrimage with Snorri and crew to a sacred temple to learn if the gods favour her, and sure enough, we get some Lord of the Rings-inspired content where she and Bjorn go under the mountain to avoid detection. She also kills a bunch of undead dudes, and people are impressed. She makes her offering and meets the famed enemy of Skaland, King Harald...who's actually not terrible!

  45. 181

And he had a horse waiting nearby, which we found super confusing....but then she gets traded to a different guy to marry him, and he's also the worst! All the while they threaten her family, who aren't great either, and she just puts up with it all........it's unfortunate.

On their way, they run into an old enemy who's a gossip bag now (PS it's Vernon). Aedion and Lysandra are about to die in the war when Manon and the witches show up to save the day, only they can't stand against the witch towers, and the thirteen take drastic measures to make sure Manon lives....it's really sad.
