    Give Us This Day...

“Give us this day our daily bread” is a line most of us can recite by heart, but we rarely stop to ask what the Church is putting on our lips right before Holy Communion. In this episode, we walk step by step through the Communion Rite and show why the Our Father is more than a familiar group prayer. Its “daily bread” ultimately points to the Eucharist, the super substantial bread that truly sustains the Christian life. From there, we linger on the centurion’s words,“Lord, I am not worthy… only say the word.”Christ is the Word, and in Communion He does not just come to us, He speaks Himself into our lives to heal, sanctify, and save.We also get practical. What does thanksgiving after Communion actually look like in real life, especially with distractions, noise, or small kids? Drawing from St. Louis de Montfort and the Church’s tradition, we offer a simple way to approach this moment with freedom and focus. Then we take on a topic that often sparks strong reactions, the communion rail. Beyond practical benefits, we explore its deeper meaning as a threshold where heaven and earth meet, where Christ comes to His people, and where the Church’s chaotic beauty gathers around ordered worship. Finally, we connect everything to the dismissal. The word Mass comes from sending. You are not just dismissed, you are sent on mission.Learn more about the Cristeros and join the movement:https://thecristeros.orgIf you have ever wanted to move from attending Mass to truly praying it, this is a concrete place to begin.

The Mass Won't Change You, Unless You Offer Yourself

Six stone jars at Cana held an absurd amount of wine—and that overabundance becomes a doorway into how God gives at every Mass.In this episode, I sit down with Fr. Mitchell Brown of Sacred Heart Cathedral to walk through the Liturgy of the Eucharist using his book Praying the Mass in Lent.If you’ve ever felt like the Offertory is just “the part where stuff happens up front,” this conversation reframes it as the moment you place your whole life on the altar so Christ can transform it.We explore:Why the Offertory is meant to be personal and interiorHow even a brief silence can hold your intentions, joys, and sufferingsWhy some liturgies intentionally reduce movement to protect this momentFrom there, we move into the Preface and the Sanctus as a climb into thanksgiving and heavenly worship—drawing on Isaiah and Revelation to show why “Holy, Holy, Holy” is not just a hymn, but a participation in the prayer of the angels. Finally, we slow down at the consecration and the claim at the heart of the Catholic faith:the Mass makes Christ’s sacrifice present, and the bread and wine become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. We also address the question many people have: why are Catholics so strange?—connecting it to John 6 and the radical reality of the Eucharist. The Mass doesn’t end in the pew. It sends us out on mission—strengthened by the Eucharist to bring Christ into the world. What is one thing you need to place on the altar at your next Offertory?

    The Mass Isn’t Your Playlist.

Why does the Church care so much about liturgical music—and why isn’t the Mass built around our preferences?Join the Movement:https://www.thecristeros.orghttps://cristerocast.buzzsprout.comhttps://a.co/d/0iqW5STp¡Viva Cristo Rey y Santa María de Guadalupe! In this episode of CristeroCast, we continue our conversation with Fr. Mitchell Brown, author of Praying the Mass in Lent, and dive into one of the most controversial topics in Catholic life: music at Mass. Why does the Church give priority to Scripture and chant? What are the propers of the Mass and why have most Catholics never heard of them?Is praise and worship music wrong… or just meant for somewhere else?We also look at the Cristeros formation rhythm and talk about relationship—how authentic friendship with God is the foundation for real relationships with our wives, families, and brothers in Christ. We cover:-What the Introit actually is and why it matters-Why the Church prefers Scripture and chant in the liturgy-The difference between devotional music and liturgical music-Why taste has nothing to do with worship-How authentic relationships grow from prayer, humility, and time

Stop Attending Mass. Start Praying It.

Ever feel like you’re clocking in at church… and clocking out unchanged? This week on CristeroCast, we sit down with Father Mitchell Brown, STL in liturgical theology, to recover what the Mass actually is: not something we attend, but a prayer we enter. The Eucharist is Christ’s own prayer to the Father — and we are invited into it. Not as spectators. Not as consumers. But as sons.Father Brown takes us back to the beginning: identity before mission. Just as Christ’s public ministry flowed from the Father’s declaration at His baptism, so too our mission must flow from knowing who we are in Him.From there, we get practical:How to bring your real joys, fears, and burdens into the MassWhy silence is not empty space but training for friendship with GodHow to pray the liturgy using the movements of Lectio DivinaWhy setting one clear intention can transform your SundayHow to focus on one part of the rite each week and go deeperWe talk about Lent as spiritual training — realistic penances, weekly recalibration, and adjusting zeal with prudence. We get concrete about embodiment:Why deliberate signs of the cross matter. Why genuflection isn’t choreography. Why even how we dress forms the soul. And we reclaim beauty. Giving God our best isn’t luxury — it’s love.If you’re ready to stop going through the motions and start entering the source and summit of our faith, this episode will challenge and equip you.Set one intention for your next Mass. Pray it. Then see what changes.Viva Cristo Rey.
