124. Identity before Roles: Learning to Trust God
At the time this episode is airing, it’s December 26. Wherever this Christmas season found you—full of joy, quiet reflection, grief, complexity, or somewhere in between—I hope you were able to encounter God’s presence in a meaningful way.Today’s episode is a little different.I’m replaying the most listened-to episode of Curious for Christ of all time:“Struggling to Trust God in Gender Roles,” a thoughtful and grace-filled conversation with author and evangelist Gordon Ferguson. This conversation continues to resonate deeply because beneath questions about roles—whether in marriage, family, work, or ministry—there is something even more foundational:identity.Identity Before RolesOne of the clearest things God revealed to me this past year is this:Before He builds anything through us, He builds something within us.Identity is the foundation of everything. When our sense of worth is rooted in productivity, performance, approval, guilt, or even “doing the right thing,” exhaustion eventually follows. Even good and godly goals can wear us down if they’re built on the wrong foundation.Scripture reminds us in Psalm 127:1:“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”If God isn’t the one building, sustaining, and leading—no amount of effort will ever feel like enough.A Year of Shedding and SurrenderThis past year was a season of shedding for me—unlearning patterns, expectations, and beliefs that had quietly placed distance between me and God. While that process wasn’t easy, I’m deeply grateful for it.God gently reminded me of something simple and freeing:I am first His child. Not a role. Not a result. Not a résumé.Jesus is enough.God is enough. As a woman, I’ve spent many years wrestling with who I thought I needed to be, how I thought I needed to show up, and what I thought faithfulness required of me. What God has patiently shown me is this:Before anything else, I am His daughter—and I am deeply loved. And whatever He places on my heart, even if no one around me sees it or understands it, I can walk in peace knowing that He does. Why This Conversation Still MattersThat’s why I wanted to replay this episode.Because when identity is rooted in God, roles stop being a burden—and trust begins to grow. This conversation with Gordon Ferguson explores Scripture with depth, humility, and compassion, inviting us to step away from fear-based striving and into trust rooted in who God says we are.I invite you to listen again—or perhaps for the first time—with fresh ears and an open heart.Thank you so much for listening. My prayer is that this conversation reminds you that God is far more interested in your faith than simply in what you do. As we move toward a new year, may your identity be deeply rooted in Him—and may everything else flow from that place of peace, knowing you are deeply loved. Thanks for listening! 122. Growing a Heart of Thanksgiving — Even in the Challenging Seasons
In this post-Thanksgiving episode, I invite listeners into a personal and Scripture-rich reflection on what it truly means to cultivate a heart of gratitude — not only when life feels abundant, but especially when it feels uncertain, stretching, or emotionally heavy.Through a biblical study of thanksgiving and a deeply personal parenting story, we explore how God grows our hearts in hidden, humble, everyday ways. What This Episode Covers1. Giving Thanks In All CircumstancesWe discuss the difference between giving thanks for everything versus giving thanks in everything — and why Scripture calls us to live from God’s reality rather than our circumstances.Bible Verse:1 Thessalonians 5:18 — “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”2. Gratitude in the Valley — Jeremiah 29 and ParentingAlexandra shares a meaningful moment with her 11-year-old daughter who has been navigating friendship challenges at school and church. Through tears, prayers, and divine wisdom, God reminded her:“She is Mine before she is yours. And I love her more than you ever will.”This leads into a powerful application of Jeremiah 29: how God calls us to grow where we are planted, even in seasons that feel uncomfortable or unclear.Bible Verse:Jeremiah 29:5 — “Build homes and settle down. Plant gardens and eat what they produce.”3. The Silent Work of GodWe explore how God often works quietly in our lives — through steady, subtle transformation rather than loud breakthroughs — and why gratitude helps us recognize His presence.Bible Verse:Philippians 2:13 — “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”4. A Biblical Framework for Growing in GratitudeAlexandra introduces a simple 3-step process rooted in Scripture:RememberLook back on God’s past faithfulness.Psalm 103:2 — “Bless the Lord… and forget not all His benefits.”RecognizeSee His hand in the present moment.James 1:17 — “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”RespondPractice intentional thanksgiving.Colossians 3:15 — “…and be thankful.”5. A Five-Minute Thanksgiving PracticeListeners are guided into a simple exercise:What has God done that I need to remember?Where do I see His hand today? What promise am I holding onto for tomorrow?A beautiful way to end Thanksgiving week with renewed gratitude. 120. When Your Plans Fail - Two Things That Never Will
Have you ever had a season where nothing seemed to work — your plans, your prayers, your patience? When it feels like you’re doing everything right…and still waiting? In today’s episode, we’re diving into Psalm 149:6, a short but powerful verse that teaches us what to do when life feels confusing or overwhelming:“Let the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands.”This verse shows us the two things that never fail:Worship and God’s Word. When everything else is shaking, these are the anchors that keep us standing. In This Episode We Explore:Why overthinking and analyzing can lead us into confusionHow praise becomes a weapon during seasons of delay or disappointmentHow to use Scripture as truth and defense when fear, doubt, or lies speak loudlyThe hidden purpose behind the wilderness seasons and refinementHow God uses pressure not to punish us, but to prepare and strengthen usWhat spiritual maturity actually looks like and how to walk in it dailyYou’ll walk away with practical encouragement and declarations rooted in Scripture, including:“No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)“He will never leave me nor forsake me.” (Hebrews 13:5)“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1)Key TakeawayWhen nothing seems to be working, don’t spiral into overthinking.Instead:Lift your worship.Grip the Word.Let praise and truth do the fighting.Scripture ReferencesPsalm 149:6Isaiah 54:17Hebrews 13:5Psalm 23:1Hosea 2:14Job 1Closing PrayerWe end the episode in prayer — asking God to give us clarity, peace, and endurance through seasons of refinement, and to remind us that wilderness is not abandonment, but preparation.ConnectIf this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend — or leave a review to help others find the podcast. 117. Why Holding on Creates Anxiety — and How to Let Go with God
In this episode, I talk about something that hits close to home — the anxiety that comes from holding onto things we were never meant to hold. Maybe it’s beauty, maybe it’s success, maybe it’s your background or even where you come from. I know this has been true for me.I share a personal story about discovering my ancestry — Belgian, Bulgarian, and even Roma, Gypsy roots — and how God used that moment to show me something deeper about identity. It made me ask: Am I still clinging to something other than God? Even subtly? When we hold onto anything more tightly than Him — our image, our past, or even good things like goals and dreams — our hearts become divided. We lose peace. And sometimes, that quiet inner pressure we call anxiety is really our spirit trying to remind us: “You’re holding something that isn’t meant to define you.”In this episode, I explore both the faith and the science behind why that happens. When you cling to old patterns or fears, your brain and nervous system stay in fight-or-flight — always scanning for loss or danger. But when you release and surrender, your body shifts into rest and restore — your heart slows, your breath deepens, and peace returns.God isn’t slow to move — He’s patient with us as we learn to trust Him.Like 2 Peter 3:9 says:“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you…”When we let go, we make room. It’s like trying to fill a cup that’s already full — God’s pouring blessings and direction, but we have to empty what’s been in the way.Through it all, He’s whispering:“You don’t need to be more {fill in the blank}. You’re not late. You are exactly where I want you.” Scriptures from this Episode:Philippians 3:7–8 — “Whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.”1 Samuel 16:7 — “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”Isaiah 43:1 — “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”Psalm 139:13–14 — “You knit me together in my mother’s womb… I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”2 Peter 3:9 — “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise… He is patient with you.”Matthew 12:25 — “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined.”2 Timothy 2:13 — “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.” Final Encouragement:Friend, what are you holding onto that’s been keeping you anxious? This week, take five quiet minutes each morning to ask: ‘Lord, what am I still holding onto that You’re inviting me to release?’ Write it down — and then pray for peace in that place. You are already chosen. Already loved. Already enough.Take a deep breath. Let go. And let Him define you. Bye for nowThanks for listening! Your support means the world. 116. Trusting God when nothing is working out
Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you can and still nothing is working out? That’s where I’ve been. Since February I’ve been showing up and working hard, but it’s now October and I still don’t have a new sale. It feels heavy, especially with a family, growing kids, responsibilities, and dreams that sometimes seem out of reach. In this episode of Curious for Christ, I’m opening up about what it looks like to trust God in the middle of that kind of season. I share three scriptures that are grounding me, what I’ve been learning about how our brains create thoughts that aren’t always true, and why God is never intimidated by our honesty. Here’s what you’ll hear in this episode:Why our thoughts often repeat the past, not the truth (Isaiah 55:8–9)How David shows us that God can handle our raw honesty (Psalm 6:3 + Psalm 34:18)Why seasons of loss and struggle may actually be God’s way of bringing new life (John 12:24)I also share a personal story about what happened when I opened up to a friend about feeling hopeless — and how her acceptance reminded me that community really is medicine for the soul.If you’ve ever wondered if you’re “allowed” to feel hopeless as a Christian, or if you’re questioning where God is in your own struggle, I think this episode will speak to you.Join my Facebook group community here: bit.ly/curiousforChristcommunity Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss the next episode. Thanks for listening! 115. Does God see me? Stepping into Trust as His Daughter
In this special replay, I’m bringing back one of the most listened-to episodes of Curious for Christ: my conversation with author and evangelist Gordon Ferguson on struggling to trust God and discovering deeper insights from the Bible.I didn’t want to create something new just for the sake of it. Instead, I felt led to return to this powerful message—because trusting God and living fully in our identity as His daughters is something I’m still learning to embody in deeper ways today. In the new introduction, I share how I’m moving beyond old stories and limiting identities. I’m stepping more boldly into trust, learning to live freely and fully as the woman God has called me to be.In this episode, you’ll hear:An honest conversation with Gordon Ferguson about gender, trust, and how God truly sees us.Reflections on what it means to wrestle with trust and identity in Christ.Encouragement to let go of old labels and step more boldly into who God says you are.A fresh invitation to reflect on the truth you need to embrace in order to live out your calling. Reflection Prompt: As you listen, ask yourself: What truth do I need to hold onto in order to do what I’m called to do and be all that God wants me to be? 114. Is Your Body Tensing Up? 3 Steps to Find Peace with God in a Tense Relationship
In this episode, host Alexandra explores the physical and spiritual reasons behind our body’s “fight, flight, or freeze” response. She talks about how physical tension—the tight shoulders, clenched jaw, or knot in your stomach—is a signal that our nervous system perceives a threat. However, as believers, we can use this moment of awareness as an invitation to lean into our faith. Alexandra offers three practical, faith-based steps to stay grounded and present with God, even in difficult conversations or moments of stress. This episode is a guide to moving from a place of fear to a place of trust, using our bodies as a tool for worship and connection with Christ. The 3 Steps:Awareness: The first step to staying grounded is simply noticing your physical reaction without judgment. This is a form of “taking every thought captive” and bringing it to God, as described in 2 Corinthians 10:5: "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."Breath: Use your breath—a gift from God—to center yourself. Practice deep, intentional breathing as an act of stillness, connecting your body to the present moment and God's presence, as Psalm 46:10 reminds us to “Be still, and know that I am God.”God’s Truth: When your mind spirals with fear, consciously replace those thoughts with God's truth. Recall verses like 1 John 4:18, which says "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear," and remind yourself that you are safe and loved in Him.Call to Action:This week, notice your body's tension without judgment but with curiosity. Use your breath as a tool for stillness, and lean on God's truth to anchor you in His love instead of your fear. And remember, God's love is always near...Thanks for listening! 112. Is Impatience Fueling Your Doubts and Anxiety? Learning to Trust God's Timing
Patience is more than waiting—it is a discipline of the heart. It allows us to govern our emotions, trust God’s timing, and respond with wisdom instead of rushing in fear or doubt. Practicing patience strengthens our relationships, nurtures our spiritual growth, and helps us live faithfully and peacefully in every area of life. True strength is not in conquering others or achieving instant results but in mastering our own spirit (Proverbs 16:32).In this episode, we explore:What patience really is: both enduring trials steadfastly and being long-suffering with others, while hope-filled trusting God.Why impatience leads to anxiety and doubt: rushing past faith increases fear and stress. How Scripture defines patience through Greek and Hebrew words.Practical ways to grow in patience at home, at work, and in our spiritual life.Biblical Definition of Patience:Greek (New Testament):Makrothymía – long-tempered, patient with people (Galatians 5:22–23; 1 Corinthians 13:4)Hypomonḗ – steadfast endurance through trials (James 1:3–4; Romans 5:3–4)Hebrew (Old Testament):’Erek Appayim – slow to anger, patient like God (Exodus 34:6; Psalm 103:8)Qaváh – to wait, hope, and look to God’s action (Isaiah 40:31)Yāchal – to wait, expect, trust, and hope in God (Psalm 130:5)Why Patience Matters:Patience = Wisdom: Proverbs 14:29 – “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.”Patience = Faithful Action: James 5:7–8 – like the farmer, we do our part and trust God for the rest.Patience = Love & Fruit of the Spirit: 1 Corinthians 13:4, Galatians 5:22–23 – patience is integral to love and godly character.Patience = Peace, Strength & Hope: Psalm 37:7, Isaiah 40:31, Romans 8:25 – waiting on the Lord renews strength and aligns us with His will.Patience is active, not passive. It strengthens the prefrontal cortex (decision-making, planning, impulse control) and calms the amygdala (our emotional alarm system). Practicing patience gives us the power to endure, love, and act faithfully, even when life feels rushed or uncertain.Practical Applications:Family & Parenting: respond calmly, teach respect and self-control.Work & Ministry: avoid burnout, focus on long-term goals, and rely on God.Spiritual Life: waiting on God strengthens faith, trust, and hope.Daily Habits: pause before reacting, pray, practice gratitude—small acts grow patience.Closing Scripture:Proverbs 16:32 – “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”True power is a calm, regulated spirit—one that sustains family, nurtures relationships, and allows God’s plans to unfold in His perfect timing.Final Encouragement:Surrender your fears and doubts to God. Let patience guide you, trust His timing and watch Him fulfill His plans for your life, which are always greater than we can imagine. Thanks for listening! Your support means the world. 110. Finding Peace in the Unknown: 5 Prayers to Anchor Your Heart in God's Presence
Have you ever thought: I just need peace now—not tomorrow, not when life finally settles, but right here in the middle of the swirl? That’s exactly what today’s short but mighty episode of Curious for Christ is about. I’m sharing a personal story of when I felt awkward, invisible, and tempted to hide—but instead of running, I stayed. And God met me in that uncomfortable space with His peace. That moment inspired me to create The 5-Prayer Toolkit for Peace in Chaos—simple prayers you can use on the spot to steady your heart and become aware of God’s presence right away.5 Prayers for Peace in the Middle of Chaos:1. Pray for a heart anchored in God, not outcomes.“Lord, help me want You more than I want a certain life. Anchor my heart in You so my peace isn’t tied to what I have or don’t have.” “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” —Isaiah 26:32. Pray to welcome the unknown as a place to grow.“Father, teach me to see the unknown not as a threat, but as a place where You and I walk closely together. Train my eyes to look for Your hand in the unfamiliar.” “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5–63. Pray for courage to stay in the uncomfortable until you see His work.“Holy Spirit, give me the courage to stay in rooms that stretch me. Help me see opportunities to connect, bless, and grow instead of looking for the fastest escape.” “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:94. Pray to guard against spiritual complacency when blessings come.“God, when You do give me the desires of my heart, don’t let my heart wander from You. Teach me to steward blessings in a way that keeps me close to You.” “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God… Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down… then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God.” —Deuteronomy 8:11–145. Pray to be faithful in small, unseen steps.“Lord, help me be faithful today—in the ordinary, the awkward, and the overlooked—because I know that’s where You build my character and prepare me for more.” “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” —Luke 16:10Closing EncouragementFriend, peace doesn’t just arrive when everything falls into place. The truth is, there will always be new levels of growth, and faith will always be required to walk this journey. Instead of running, let’s choose to stay, trust, and invite God in.Remember: God’s presence isn’t waiting at the finish line—He’s here with you now. “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” —Psalm 29:11 If this episode encouraged you, be sure to subscribe and check the newsletter so you don’t miss these prayers in written form. Thanks for listening! When we step out of community, we become more vulnerable to spiritual attack, isolation, and discouragement. We talk about:Why regular church involvement matters for your emotional and spiritual healthWhat the Bible says the Church is—and what it’s notHow to find a church where you can grow and be knownMy personal story from last Sunday when God met me in the middle of anxietyAnd how to start again if you’ve been hurt, overwhelmed, or disconnected Scripture References:1 Corinthians 12:27 – You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.Hebrews 10:24–25 – Let us not give up meeting together… but encouraging one another.Ephesians 4:11–13 – To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.Acts 2:42 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer.1 Peter 5:8 – Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 – Two are better than one… pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.John 13:34–35 – By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another. It’s not always a lack of effort—it’s often a quiet rebellion: our tendency to trust everything but Him.But here’s the beautiful truth—God doesn’t just correct rebellion. He heals it.This is a vulnerable one, but it’s filled with so much hope. In This Episode, I Talk About:What “quiet rebellion” can look like in our everyday livesHow fear, anxiety, and self-protection quietly block our trustWhy God’s healing doesn’t wait for perfection—it begins in surrenderMy story of feeling lost and how God pursued me like the one sheepHow to open your heart to God even when you feel overwhelmed or stuck Scriptures That Anchored Me:Proverbs 3:5 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”Hosea 14:4 – “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely…”Isaiah 57:17–18 – “I have seen their ways, but I will heal them…”Romans 5:8 – “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”1 Peter 2:24 – “By His wounds, you have been healed.”Luke 15:4 – The parable of the lost sheepPsalm 107:17, 20 – “He sent out His word and healed them…” From My Heart to Yours:You’re not alone if you’re having a hard time trusting God.You’re not alone if you worry, feel anxious, or carry stress—even though you’ve prayed and longed to be close to Him.I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to feel lost in your own faith. But God doesn’t meet us with shame—He meets us with mercy. He’s not waiting for you to fix yourself. He wants to meet you in your stuck place and gently lead you into healing. 97. Overcoming Shame and Codependency: 7 Faith-Based Principles for Healing & Spiritual Growth - with Kathy Heinen
In this deeply honest and inspiring episode of Curious for Christ, I sit down with Kathy Heinen, co-author of "Spiritual Discovery: Seven Principles for Spiritual Growth". Kathy shares her personal journey—from navigating a painful marriage to experiencing deep healing through Christ—and how God’s presence, not our performance, is the key to transformation.Together, we discuss how our emotions are not obstacles but indicators—clues that can lead us back to the truth about God and ourselves. Through decades of ministry helping women overcome codependency and addiction, Kathy brings powerful wisdom and real-life application to what it means to grow spiritually and walk in freedom.Yes, there were a few technical glitches—but the heart of this conversation is too rich not to share. :)You’ll walk away encouraged, grounded, and reminded of just how personal and healing God’s love truly is.What You’ll Learn:• Why emotions are the bridge to our deeply held beliefs• The spiritual battle behind the lie “I’m not enough”• How God’s response—“You are mine”—shifts everything• Why belonging is the foundation of true identity• The seven principles of spiritual growth from Kathy’s book• How spiritual transformation requires both truth and encounterThe 7 Principles of Spiritual Growth:1. Stop and Consider2. Recognize your Spiritual Battle3. Tell the Truth4. Look for the Lie5. Ask, Seek, Knock6. Find Peace in Forgiveness7. Why? Because it’s not based on what we do, but on who we belong to. God’s presence is the tool we need in our spiritual battles. Just like in Genesis, when He said “Let there be light,” His word still brings light to our darkness today.Subscribe + Share:- If this episode spoke to you, would you do me a favor? 96. How to Let Go of Control and Trust God Wholeheartedly
In today’s episode, we’re talking about one of the most challenging—but freeing—aspects of the Christian journey: letting go of control. From early messages about strength and performance to the pressures of adulthood, many of us were conditioned to believe that control equals safety. But Scripture invites us to surrender—to trade anxiety and striving for God’s peace. You’ll discover:• What the Bible says about surrender and trust• How cognitive dissonance affects your walk with God• Real encouragement for the moments you feel anxious, afraid, or stuck• Practical ways to daily release control and receive God’s peace⸻Key Scriptures:1. Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV) – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”2. Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV) – “Do not be anxious about anything…”3. Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV) – “Come to me, all you who are weary…”4. Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) – “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast…”5. Psalm 46:10 (NIV) – “Be still and know that I am God.”⸻What You’ll Learn:• Cognitive dissonance is the emotional discomfort you feel when what you believe clashes with what God is asking. It’s that moment of tension between “I need to be in control” and “God is asking me to let go.”• Letting go is not weakness—it’s worship.• God replaces what you surrender with His peace, presence, and purpose.⸻Reflection Questions:• What early messages taught you that control was necessary for safety or love?• Where in your life are you trying to manage what God is calling you to surrender?• What would it look like to trust Him with that today?⸻Practical Steps to Let Go of Control:1. Pray a Daily Surrender Prayer – “God, I trust You with this day. Help me release what I can’t control.”2. Pause When You Feel Anxious – Ask: “What belief is clashing with God’s truth right now?”3. Practice Stillness – Create quiet moments to let God’s voice be louder than your fear.4. Lean on Scripture – Meditate on the verses shared to realign your heart with God’s promises.⸻Call to Action:- Join the Community: Don’t walk this journey alone! 90. How to trust God's Timing with Confidence: 3 Practical Steps
Welcome back to Curious for Christ! Trusting God’s timing is one of the biggest challenges in our faith journey. Why does waiting feel so hard? And how do we shift from frustration to peace? Today, I’m sharing three key steps to help you trust God’s process with confidence.3 Steps to Trusting God’s TimingRelease Control – Trust begins when we surrender our expectations and let go of the need to understand everything. God’s plan is higher than ours (Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 55:8-9).Embrace the Waiting – The waiting season is not wasted; it’s preparation. Instead of asking when, focus on who God is shaping you to become (Jeremiah 17:6-8, Lamentations 3:22-23).Walk in Faith, Not Fear – Trusting God’s timing doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means stepping forward in faith, even without all the answers (Psalm 37:5, Matthew 17:20, Joshua 1:9).Scriptures Shared in This EpisodeProverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.Isaiah 55:8-9 – God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours.Galatians 5:1 – Christ has set us free—trusting Him leads to true freedom.Jeremiah 17:6-8 – Those who trust in the Lord flourish, even in difficult seasons.Lamentations 3:22-23 – God’s mercies are new every morning.Psalm 37:5 – Commit your way to the Lord, trust Him, and He will act.Matthew 17:20 – Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.Hebrews 11:6 – Without faith, it is impossible to please God.Joshua 1:9 – Be strong and courageous; the Lord is with you wherever you go.Final EncouragementIf you’re struggling with God’s timing, know that you’re not alone. The process takes time, but God’s plan is always perfect. Have you ever looked back and realized He was working all along? I’d love to hear your thoughts! If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend and leave a review. Until next time—keep trusting, keep seeking, and keep walking in faith! Thanks for listening! 89. Wrestling with God: Finding Spiritual Breakthrough and Your True Identity Through Life's Struggles
In today’s episode, we’re diving into the process of becoming—the ongoing transformation that happens as we step into who God created us to be. It’s not always a smooth journey. In fact, it often involves struggle, uncertainty, and deep wrestling with our identity, our past, and even with God Himself.Through my personal story and the powerful biblical account of Jacob wrestling with God, we’ll explore what it means to be refined through struggle and step into the identity God has for us. If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in between who you were and who you’re called to be, this episode is for you. What You’ll Learn in This Episode:• How struggles can actually be part of God’s refining process• Why wrestling with God isn’t about resistance—it’s about transformation• Lessons from Jacob’s encounter with God in Genesis 32• Practical steps to step into your God-given identity• How surrendering to God doesn’t mean losing—it means becomingKey Scriptures to Reflect On:• Genesis 32:22-32 – Jacob’s wrestling with God and his transformation into Israel• Romans 12:2 – The renewal of our minds as part of our transformation• 2 Corinthians 5:17 – Stepping into our new identity in Christ• Psalm 46:10 – The importance of stillness in hearing God’s voice• Romans 5:3-4 – How struggles shape our endurance, character, and hopePractical Next Steps for Your Journey:1. Acknowledge your emotions and bring them to God (1 Peter 5:7)2. Renew your mind daily with Scripture (Romans 12:2)3. Surrender your struggles and trust the process (Matthew 11:28)4. Create moments of stillness to hear God’s voice (Psalm 46:10)5. Embrace the struggle as part of your transformation (Romans 5:3-4)6. Keep seeking God through prayer and wisdom (1 Thessalonians 5:17)7. Let go of your past and step into the new (2 Corinthians 5:17) - which also involves forgiving yourself in the processFinal ThoughtsBecoming who God created you to be is a lifelong process, not a one-time event. Like Jacob, we may walk away from our struggles with scars, but they are marks of transformation, not defeat. If you’re wrestling today, know that you are not alone—God is with you, shaping you, and preparing you for what’s ahead.I’d love to hear how this episode spoke to you! 86. Healing is Spiritual: How to Process Emotions and Find Renewal with God
In today’s episode, I share a personal story of my relationship with my body and how I didn’t know how to process my emotions. If you feel like you can’t move on or keep falling back into the same patterns despite praying and processing, chances are your body has stored emotions that need your attention. The truth is: your body remembers what your mind tries to forget. What We’ll Talk About:• We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).• God has the power to renew our bodies. He holds the key to unlocking what’s been stored. It’s not just about the science of healing—it’s about God being the ultimate healer who knows exactly what’s buried within us.Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 – “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”• The original design of our bodies and the role of God in our healing process.• Healing is necessary, and we need a holistic approach to renewal.• Why God cares about your body—our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and God cares for every part of us.Practical Ways to Release Stored Stress & Find Renewal:1. Tune Into Your Body – Recognize where you carry stress. Ask yourself, “What is my body trying to tell me?”Scripture: Psalm 139:14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”2. Move & Breathe with Intention – Engage in activities that release tension—stretching, walking, deep breathing.Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”3. Process Emotionally & Spiritually – Journaling, prayer, and speaking your emotions out loud can help release what’s been stored. To dive deeper into effective prayer, make sure to listen to Ep. 73Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 – “For the word of God is alive and active.”4. Recognize God’s Renewal – Healing isn’t just about removing pain; it’s about recognizing God’s power to restore and renew you.Scripture: Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”Word of Encouragement:Healing is possible, and God desires to restore you—body, mind, and spirit. If you’ve been carrying the weight of unprocessed emotions, know that renewal is within reach. 85. Q&A: Why is this Happening to Me? Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
Welcome back! I’m so glad you’re here. Before we dive into today’s episode, I want to share a quick update:Starting next week, I’ll be releasing just one episode per week instead of two. While I’m adjusting my schedule, my priority remains the same: to put God first, both for myself and for you.I’m still here, and I can’t wait to continue these conversations with you! Now, let’s get into today’s episode: “Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?”What You Will LearnIn this episode, we will explore the age-old question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” We’ll dive into what the Bible says about suffering, goodness, and trusting God even when life doesn’t make sense. You’ll hear personal reflections and biblical insights on how we can find peace, even when we don’t have all the answers.Key Takeaways• We don’t always get answers to our suffering, and that’s okay. Peace is found in trusting God, not in understanding.• Suffering isn’t a sign of punishment—it’s part of the human experience.• God’s faithfulness is unwavering, and He is present in our pain.• Instead of asking “Why?”, we can ask, “What is God teaching me?” and “How is He shaping me through this?”Scriptures Mentioned• Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.• Isaiah 55:8-9 – My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.• Romans 3:10 – There is no one righteous, not even one.• Mark 10:18 – No one is good except God alone.• Matthew 5:45 – He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.• Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.• Romans 8:28 – All things work together for good for those who love God.• Philippians 4:6-7 – The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.• John 16:33 – In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.AnnouncementQuick reminder: Starting next week, I’ll be releasing just one episode per week while I focus on this new chapter in real estate. But I truly believe that Curious for Christ has played a huge role in getting me to this place—grounded, aligned with God, and ready for what’s ahead. I’ll still be here, still sharing, and still growing alongside you.Closing ChallengeThis week, when you face something hard, notice how you respond.• Do you ask Why?—or do you ask What is God doing?• Do you try to control—or do you surrender?• Do you hold onto your emotions—or do you bring them fully to God?God isn’t asking us to have all the answers. He’s asking us to trust Him. And that’s enough.Share the LoveIf this episode encouraged you, share it with someone who needs this reminder today. 84. Reclaim Peace, Joy and Productivity in a Digital World, God's Way with Erick Vargas
In today’s episode, we are addressing the real struggle many of us face in our digital age—how technology steals the peace, joy, and purpose God intended for our lives. I had the privilege of speaking with Erick Vargas, Christian entrepreneur and co-founder of Sabbath Space, an app designed to help people disconnect from technology and reconnect with what truly matters—God, family, and community. What You’ll Learn:• Understanding the Technology Trap: Erick shares his personal experience with technology addiction and reveals how disconnecting from tech can restore balance to your life and allow you to walk in God’s purpose.• Finding Peace and Productivity in a Digital World: By intentionally setting boundaries around technology, you can make space for a deeper connection with God, your family, and your purpose.Personal Takeaways:Reflecting on this conversation, I realize how often I let technology steal my focus and peace. When I don’t intentionally rest or disconnect, I find myself anxious, overwhelmed, and struggling to hear from God. I’ve learned that reclaiming peace requires me to set boundaries with technology, just as much as it involves setting aside time for rest and reflection. Erick’s message is a wake-up call: if we don’t take action, technology will continue to steal the life God intends for us.I also recognize that being mindful of what drains me and what replenishes me is crucial for moving forward with purpose. Technology is a tool, but it must be used wisely. When I use it intentionally, it helps me grow; when it controls me, it takes away the clarity and peace I need to hear from God.Action Step for You:This week, take a full 24-hour break from all notifications and digital distractions. Turn off your phone, disconnect from social media, and take time to reflect on how this makes you feel. After your digital detox, spend just 10 minutes in prayer or reading the Bible. I want you to pay attention to the clarity, peace, and joy that come when you give yourself space from technology. Let me know how it impacts you!Resources Mentioned:• Sabbath Space App: A practical tool to help you disconnect from technology and reconnect with what matters most.• Previous Episodes: Episode 59 - Stress and Burnout: Consider a Biblical Sabbath for Healing and Renewal with Joel and Christy Peed and Episode 67 - Digital Detox and Biblical Sabbath Compilation.Connect with Eric Vargas:• Sabbath Space Website• Instagram: @sabbathspaceFinal Thoughts:Technology is powerful, but if we don’t learn to manage it, it will take from the life that God has designed for us. Through intentional rest, boundaries, and connection with what truly matters, we can reclaim our peace, productivity, and joy. Eric’s wisdom shows us that we can take control of our digital lives, make space for God, and live more purposefully.Thank you for joining me today! I look forward to hearing how you will reclaim peace and joy in your life through intentional rest and digital boundaries. Thanks for listening! Your support means the world. 83. Q&A: How can I Feel Confident in God when I was never Encouraged Growing Up?
Welcome to Curious for Christ Q&A! Today, we’re answering a powerful question: “How can I feel confident in God when I was never encouraged the way I needed growing up?”If you struggled with a lack of encouragement or love growing up, you may question your ability to feel confident in God. But the good news is—God can restore what was missing and build a confidence in us that isn’t tied to our past but rooted in Him.1. How Our Upbringing Shapes Us• Our childhood shapes how we see ourselves and relate to God.• Proverbs 22:6 reminds us that patterns learned early in life stick with us: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”• These patterns can affect how we trust God and feel about ourselves.2. God’s Truth Rewrites Our Story• God’s truth is greater than the story shaped by our upbringing.• Psalm 27:10 – “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”• Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”• Healing and confidence come when we allow God to reshape our hearts and minds.3. How to Build Confidence in God1. Recognize the Lies – Identify the false beliefs from your past.2. Recognize God at Work – See where God is moving in your life (Philippians 1:6).3. Replace Lies with God’s Truth – Meditate on Scriptures that affirm your worth in Him (Isaiah 43:1).4. Take Small Faith Steps – Confidence grows through action (James 2:17).5. Surround Yourself with Encouragers – Find people who reinforce God’s truth in your life.Closing Encouragement:• You are not bound by your past.• Isaiah 41:10 – “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Call to Action:If this episode resonated with you, take time to reflect, pray, and step into the confidence God is building in you. Recognize Temptation EarlyTemptation starts small but can grow if left unchecked.• Scripture: “Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Identify patterns and ask God for guidance in those areas.2. Be Proactive and PreparedGod always provides a way out of temptation.• Scripture: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” — Matthew 26:41• Reminder: Temptation isn’t sin. It reveals areas of weakness where God can work to strengthen you.5. Rest in God’s StrengthTrue victory over temptation comes from relying on God, not your own strength.• “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9• Encouragement: Lean into God’s grace when you feel weak, and let His power carry you through.Journal ChallengeThis week, set aside 5 minutes a day to journal moments when you felt tempted.
