Whitebeard Wisdom: Navigating Artificial Intelligence's Next Wave | Jonathan Mast

In a world where technology evolves at a breakneck pace, few have managed to ride the wave as adeptly as Jonathan Mast, CEO of Whitebeard Strategies. In a recent episode of the Absolutely Incredible Podcast, hosted by Bruce Burke, Mast shared his journey from digital marketing to becoming a beacon in the AI landscape. This blog post unravels the insights and stories from their engaging conversation.A Beard with a StoryJonathan Mast's journey is as unique as his signature white beard, which he began growing eight years ago. It’s a symbol of his transition from a traditional sales and marketing background to the cutting-edge world of AI. Mast humorously recounts how his granddaughter and wife have given their seal of approval to his beard, setting the stage for his venture into AI.The AI AwakeningMast's foray into AI began with the release of ChatGPT's graphical user interface in late 2022. As a non-programmer, he was astounded by the capabilities AI offered, describing it as an amplifier of skill and experience. However, not everyone shared his enthusiasm. His team at the digital marketing agency expressed concerns about AI's potential to replace jobs, a sentiment Mast understood but chose to view as an opportunity for growth and innovation.A Visionary ShiftAfter 15 years in the digital agency space, Mast felt the pull to explore new horizons. He reminisces about a missed opportunity in the 80s when bottled water was a novel idea. Determined not to let AI slip through his fingers, he embraced the change, inspired by Alex Hermosy's philosophy of adding value to build an audience. Mast's approach was simple: give away information and charge for implementation, a strategy that has grown his community to over half a million people.Whitebeard Strategies: A New ChapterWhitebeard Strategies now focuses on three core areas: AI coaching, masterminds, and creating custom GPTs. Mast's passion for AI coaching is evident as he shares his excitement about teaching classes on free internet tools. His masterminds offer a more intimate setting for mentoring, while his custom GPTs provide businesses with tailored AI solutions. Mast's vision is clear: help businesses leverage AI to save time, increase profits, and add value to their audiences. The GPT-5 ExperienceThe conversation shifts to the recent release of GPT-5, which Mast describes as underwhelming yet promising. Despite initial hiccups, he acknowledges the model's improvements in nuance and depth. Mast's team has tested over 100 custom GPTs, finding them to be more refined and capable of asking clarifying questions. He emphasizes the importance of frameworks in building robust AI models, likening it to constructing a building with a strong foundation. The Future of AI and SocietyMast and Burke delve into the broader implications of AI, discussing its potential to revolutionize industries from healthcare to investment. Mast shares a compelling story about AI's role in diabetes research, highlighting its ability to analyze vast amounts of data and potentially find a cure. He envisions a future where AI advancements lead to improved infrastructure and power availability, drawing parallels to the evolution of internet access.A Call to Embrace ChangeAs the interview draws to a close, Mast reflects on the importance of embracing AI responsibly. He acknowledges the challenges and fears associated with new technologies but remains optimistic about the opportunities they present. Mast encourages listeners to stay informed and engaged, emphasizing the value of a strong personal brand in navigating the digital age.Agentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. If you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization click hereI interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch now to learn more about AI Voice Agents.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization, click hereThats all for today, but AI is moving fast, subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Experimenting With Google's Veo 3 In Canva This Morning

This is the first successful clip I was able to produce, not a bad start. Here's some tips I picked up for composing a prompt to get the images you want. Include these visual elements in your Veo3 video prompt:1. Subject: Who or what is in the scene — a person, animal, object, or landscape.2. Context: Where is the subject? Indoors? A city street? A forest?3. Action: Is your subject walking, jumping, turning their head?4. Style: The visual aesthetic you’re aiming for (cinematic, animated, stop-motion, etc).5. Camera motion: Describe how the camera moves: aerial shot, eye-level, top-down, or low-angle.6. Composition: How the shot is framed: wide shot, close-up, etc.7. Ambiance: Mood and lighting. You can say things like “warm tones,” “blue light,” or “nighttime.”I actually used Meta.AI to write the prompt that I fed into Veo 3 in Canva. I used Meta because I use it to generate the hero and other images for the newsletter and it knows my style now. You also need to include audio elements - voiceovers, sound effects, music and the physical layout of the soundstage where the action takes place. In other words it's everything you'd do as a film director, but all created digitally. Each video generated has a cost so build your prompts carefully to get the outcome you want. Fully AI generated video can quickly escalate production costs so utilize stock footage and your own camera work to offset final production costs.I'll continue sharing my journey with AI and what I'm learning. OpenAI Wins $200 Million U.S. Defense Contract For Artificial Intelligence Models

OpenAI has been awarded a $200 million contract to provide the U.S. Defense Department with artificial intelligence tools. The department announced the one-year contract on Monday, months after OpenAI said it would collaborate with defense technology startup Anduril to deploy advanced AI systems for "national security missions.""Under this award, the performer will develop prototype frontier AI capabilities to address critical national security challenges in both warfighting and enterprise domains," the Defense Department said. It's the first contract with OpenAI listed on the Department of Defense's website. Anduril received a $100 million defense contract in December. Weeks earlier, OpenAI rival Anthropic said it would work with Palantir and Amazon to supply its AI models to U.S. defense and intelligence agencies.Sam Altman, OpenAI's co-founder and CEO, said in a discussion with OpenAI board member and former National Security Agency leader Paul Nakasone at a Vanderbilt University event in April that "we have to and are proud to and really want to engage in national security areas." In a blog post, OpenAI said the contract represents the first arrangement in a new initiative named OpenAI for Government, which includes the existing ChatGPT Gov product. OpenAI for Government will give U.S. government bodies access custom AI models for national security, support and product roadmap information."This contract, with a $200 million ceiling, will bring OpenAI's industry-leading expertise to help the Defense Department identify and prototype how frontier AI can transform its administrative operations, from improving how service members and their families get health care, to streamlining how they look at program and acquisition data, to supporting proactive cyber defense," the company said. "All use cases must be consistent with OpenAI's usage policies and guidelines."More on OpenAI’s Defense contract for AI on CNBCAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. If you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization click hereI interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch now to learn more about AI Voice Agents.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization, click hereThats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Shaping Tomorrow’s Economies With AI: Futurist Brett King Shares His Perspective

In a recent episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Interview podcast, I sat down with Brett King, a renowned futurist, technologist, and serial entrepreneur. The conversation spanned a wide range of topics, from the evolution of Fintech to the transformative potential of AI and the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI).A Journey Through Time and TechnologyBrett King, who started his career as a coder in Australia, has been at the forefront of technological innovation for decades. He shared his journey from being a "byte ripper" to becoming a thought leader in Fintech and a consultant for governments on AI policy. His work with the Obama administration and the UAE government highlights his influence in shaping the future of technology. The Augmented Age and AI's Disruptive PotentialKing discussed his book "Augmented," which predicted the disruptive impact of AI and technology on society. He emphasized that while we haven't yet banned human drivers, the path towards AI-driven cities is clear. The conversation touched on the rapid advancements in AI, such as smart toothbrushes with AI diagnostics and the potential for AI to revolutionize healthcare, transportation, and more. Brett shared briefly about his new AI Startup nomaddental.ai that is focused on using AI to help maintain your dental hygiene while you’re out roaming the globe. The Role of Fintech and AI in Shaping the FutureAs a pioneer in Fintech, Brett highlighted the challenges traditional banks faced in adapting to technological disruption. He noted that many banks were unprepared for the digital revolution, which led him to become a voice for change in the industry. The discussion also covered the UK's progressive approach to AI regulation and the potential for AI to transform financial services.Universal Basic Income: A Necessity for the Future? One of the most thought-provoking topics was the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI). King argued that as AI continues to automate jobs, UBI will become essential to prevent societal collapse. He cited studies showing that UBI recipients often start businesses and engage more in community activities, suggesting that UBI could lead to a more meaningful economy.Global Perspectives and the Race for AI DominanceThe conversation also explored the global race for AI dominance, with China, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia leading the charge. King noted that these countries are investing heavily in AI infrastructure, positioning themselves as leaders in the next generation of economic development. He contrasted this with the US, where political and economic challenges may hinder progress.A Vision for the FutureBrett King's insights offer a compelling vision of the future, where AI and technology play a central role in shaping society. His call for using AI to improve quality of life and address global challenges resonates with the need for forward-thinking policies and collaboration. As we navigate this transformative era, King's perspective serves as a guide for embracing change and harnessing technology for the greater good. The Rise of TechnosocialismBrett’s latest release The Rise of Technosocialism is available for purchase on Amazon The 21st century is going to be the most disruptive, contentious period humanity has ever lived through. It will challenge our most sacred ideologies around politics, economics and social constructs. It will force humanity to adapt in ways we can't yet imagine. If the cost of providing universal health care is lower than the cost of building a political movement to prevent it, would politicians still view it as socialism? In a world where algorithms and robots take the jobs of immigrants and citizens alike, are border controls an effective response? If unemployment skyrockets due to automation, would conservative governments rather battle long-term social unrest, or could they agree on something like universal basic income? When renewable energy sources are a fraction of the cost of coal-generated electricity, should lobbyists be able to prevent changes to energy infrastructure? When the crowd's mood is measured in influence and exabytes, will real-time democracy render elections a thing of the past?Brett King and Dr. Richard Petty explore the seismic social changes that will be thrust on the world over the coming decades. The Rise of Technosocialism seeks to answer both how our children will live with AI and climate disruption, along with which economies will likely emerge victorious in an always-on, smart world. This interview with Brett King provides a fascinating glimpse into the future of technology and its impact on society. As we stand on the brink of unprecedented change, the insights shared in this podcast remind us of the importance of innovation, adaptability, and a shared vision for a better world. It is a look back at where we have came from, an assessment of where we are right now, and where we are headed in this new era of AI.If you are working passionately with AI and would like to participate and have your product or project featured in an upcoming episode, please reach out and contact me. Meta Is Reportedly Making A $15 Billion Bet On Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

Meta is close to finalizing an almost $15 billion investment in Scale AI, the tech giant’s largest-ever external investment, which would give Meta a 49% stake in the company, according to The Information. As part of the deal, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is personally assembling a team of about 50 people to help Meta supercharge its AI goals — specifically, to achieve artificial general intelligence — and Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang is set to join that group once the deal is final, according to Bloomberg and The New York Times.AGI is the concept of AI that equals or surpasses human cognitive abilities, and it’s something that nearly every AI industry leader is currently racing to achieve before their competitors. Bloomberg was first to report on the planned multibillion-dollar investment. Scale, the AI giant that provides training data to industry leaders like OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Meta, in April reportedly expected that its 2025 revenue would more than double year-over-year to about $2 billion. It’s also currently planning a tender offer for employees and early investors at a $25 billion valuation.Upcoming Interview With Author, And Futurist, Brett KingBrett King is a futurist, an Amazon bestselling author, an award-winning speaker, hosts a globally recognized radio show, is the Founder of the first mobile, neo-bank globally Moven, and in his spare time enjoys flying as an IFR pilot, scuba diving, motor racing, gaming and Sci-Fi. In May, Meta delayed the launch of its new flagship model, dubbed Behemoth, amid concerns about its capabilities compared to competing models. The company’s investment in Scale AI is likely a bid to catch up as competing tech giants each choose one or more AI startups to back for greater chances of AI success, whether internally or externally.Amazon has invested at least $8 billion in Anthropic, the AI startup founded by ex-OpenAI research executives, and Anthropic’s tech now powers Amazon’s Alexa Plus. Google has given at least $3 billion to Anthropic, and the two companies share a significant cloud contract. Microsoft has famously invested at least $13 billion in OpenAI and currently gets a share of the company’s revenue.More on Meta Scale AI acquisition and AGI efforts on The VergeAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. Snowflake To Buy Crunchy Data For $250M

Snowflake has agreed to acquire database startup Crunchy Data, aiming to win over customers seeking to build their own artificial intelligence agents. The deal is valued at roughly $250 million, according to a person familiar with the matter. The deal comes less than a month after Snowflake rival Databricks said it was purchasing Neon, a similar database startup, in a deal valued at about $1 billion.Snowflake, a cloud-based data-warehousing company, and Databricks, a data analytics firm, are going head-to-head as they both chase businesses who want to build AI agents and other applications with their own data. Crunchy Data’s roughly 100 employees will join the company once the deal closes, which is expected in the next couple of weeks, and Crunchy Data will be part of an offering called Snowflake Postgres, Snowflake said. The vision here is that Snowflake Postgres will simplify how developers build, deploy and scale agents and apps, said Vivek Raghunathan, senior vice president of engineering at Snowflake. With that in mind, it was important to acquire a company that was not just engineered for quick experimentation. Crunchy Data is a cloud-based database platform that helps large businesses and government agencies use PostgreSQL without needing to manage the infrastructure themselves. PostgreSQL is a popular open-source, relational database that dates to the late 1980s.Part of the reason Snowflake and Databricks are interested in database companies is because PostgreSQL can serve as the underlying database for customers to create AI agents with data they store in the companies’ respective platforms. With its deal for Crunchy Data, Snowflake joins not only Databricks in pursuing clients who want to build their own AI agents, but also tech giants including Nvidia and OpenAI. Tech vendors have been vying to capture their share of the market for business-related AI tools as the technology moves from AI chatbots to AI agents.More on Snowflake acquiring Crunchy Data on The Wall Street JournalAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. If you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization click hereI interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch now to learn more about AI Voice Agents.Watch Interview With DBC Technologies’ FounderWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization, click hereThats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Anthropic Hits $3 Billion In Annualized Revenue On Business Demand For AI

Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic is making about $3 billion in annualized revenue, according to two sources familiar with the matter, in an early validation of generative AI use in the business world. The milestone, which projects the company's current sales over the course of a year, is a significant jump from December 2024 when the metric was nearly $1 billion, the sources said. The figure crossed $2 billion around the end of March, and at May's end it hit $3 billion, one of the sources said. While consumers have embraced rival OpenAI's ChatGPT, a number of enterprises have limited their rollouts to experimentation, despite board-level interest in AI. Anthropic's revenue surge, largely from selling AI models as a service to other companies, is a data point showing how business demand is growing, one of the sources said. A key driver is code generation. The San Francisco-based startup, backed by Google parent Alphabet and Amazon.com, is famous for AI that excels at computer programming. Products in the so-called codegen space have experienced major growth and adoption in recent months, often drawing on Anthropic's models. This demand is setting Anthropic apart among software-as-a-service vendors. Its single-quarter revenue increases would count Anthropic as the fastest-growing SaaS company that at least one venture capitalist has ever seen. "We've looked at the IPOs of over 200 public software companies, and this growth rate has never happened," said Meritech General Partner Alex Clayton, who is not an Anthropic investor and has no inside knowledge of its sales. He cautioned that these comparisons are not fully precise, since Anthropic also has consumer revenue via subscriptions to its Claude chatbot. Still, by contrast, publicly traded SaaS company Snowflake took six quarters to go from $1 billion to $2 billion in such run-rate revenue, Clayton said. Anthropic competitor OpenAI has projected it will end 2025 with more than $12 billion in total revenue, up from $3.7 billion last year, three people familiar with the matter said. This total revenue is different from an estimated annualized figure like Anthropic's. Reuters could not determine this metric for OpenAI.More on Anthropic hitting $3 billion in revenue on ReutersAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. One Of Europe’s Top AI Researchers Raised $13M To Crack The ‘Holy Grail’ Of Models

From OpenAI’s 4o to Stable Diffusion, AI foundation models that create realistic images from a text prompt are now plentiful. In contrast, foundation models capable of generating full, coherent 3D online environments from a text prompt are only just emerging.Still, it’s only a question of when, not if, these models will become readily available. Now one of Europe’s most prominent AI 3D model researchers, Matthias Niessner, has taken an entrepreneurial leave of absence from his visual computing & AI lab at the Technical University of Munich to found a startup working in the area: SpAItial.Formerly a cofounder at Synthesia, the realistic AI avatar startup valued at $2.1 billion, Niessner has raised an unusually large seed round for a European startup of $13 million. The round was led by Earlybird Venture Capital, a prominent European early-stage investor (backers of UiPath, PeakGames for instance) with participation from Speedinvest and several high-profile angels. That round size is even more impressive when taking into account that SpAItial doesn’t have much to show the world yet other than a recently released teaser video showing how a text prompt could generate a 3D room. But then, there’s the technical team that Niessner assembled: Ricardo Martin-Brualla, who previously worked on Google’s 3D teleconferencing platform, now called Beam; and David Novotny, who spent six years at Meta where he led the company’s text-to-3D asset generation project.Their collective expertise will give them a fighting chance in a space that already includes some competitors with a similar focus on photorealism. There’s Odyssey, which raised $27 million and is going after entertainment use cases. But there’s also World Labs, the startup founded by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li, and already valued at over $1 billion.Niessner thinks this is still little competition compared to what exists for other types of foundation models, but also in regard to ‘the bigger vision’ he and others are pursuing. I don’t just want to have a 3D world. I also want this world to behave like the real world. I want it to be interactable and [let you] do stuff in it, and nobody has really cracked that yet, he said.More on SpAItial fundraising and 3D models on TechCrunchAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. Pitch Deck: AI Workplace Agent Startup, Coworker's $13 Million Dollar Seed Round

Your newest work colleague might not be joining you at the water cooler or at the team's next happy hour: AI agents are infiltrating the workplace, and one startup building those — aptly named Coworker — just cleared a big funding round to put AI teammates to work.Jeff Huber, managing director at Triatomic Capital, led Coworker's $13 million seed funding round, which was announced on Tuesday. Ramtin Naimi of Abstract Ventures, Mallun Yen of Operator Collective, Tim Young of Eniac Ventures, and Clark Golestani, Ken Hausman, and Jack Greenfield of K2 Access Fund also participated in the raise.Based in San Francisco, Coworker bills itself as a general-purpose AI teammate that can research, plan, and execute high-level work just like an experienced colleague can. The startup said its technology, which about 25 companies have been beta testing since late 2024, has been used across engineering, product management, sales marketing, and operations functions. For example, a Coworker can act as an engineering teammate to write code, create and review pull requests, and automate release notes, keeping human developers focused on shipping new features. It can also act as a sales teammate, analyzing sales calls and generating proposals and follow-up emails.Coworker uses its own products at work, which gives the startup a leg up in shipping new features and developing the technology, said CEO and cofounder Alex Calder. For example, Coworker's agents do work like drafting product requirement documents based on customer feedback, creating tickets, writing code, and turning that code into sales talking points, he said.In the last six months, we've seen our internal team going from AI is good at giving me information to AI is good at using that information to do work for me, Calder told Business Insider. Anthropic Closes $2.5 Billion Credit Facility As Wall Street Continues Plunging Money Into Artificial Intelligence Boom

Earlier this week, Anthropic received a $2.5 billion, five-year revolving credit line to amp up its liquidity in an ever-expanding — and expensive — competition in the artificial intelligence industry. Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI research executives, launched its Claude chatbot in March 2023.The company closed its latest funding round in March at a $61.5 billion valuation, and the new credit facility adds to that. The company said it plans to use it to strengthen its balance sheet and invest as it scales rapidly. Annualized revenue reached $2 billion in the first quarter, the company confirmed, more than doubling from a $1 billion rate in the prior period. Revenue chief Kate Jensen said in a recent interview with CNBC that the number of customers spending more than $100,000 annually with Anthropic jumped eightfold from a year ago. Databricks Is Buying Database Startup NEON For About $1 Billion Dollars

Data analytics startup Databricks said Wednesday that it's buying Neon, a cloud-based database software vendor, for about $1 billion. It's the latest big deal for Databricks, which bought artificial intelligence model training startup MosaicML for $1.3 billion in 2023 and paid over $1 billion last year for data optimization startup Tabular.Neon has over 18,000 customers, Databricks said in a statement. Clients include OpenAI, Adobe, Boston Consulting Group, Replit and Vercel, according to Neon's website. Many developers have flocked to Neon, which is open source and billed as an alternative to top cloud provider Amazon Web Services' Aurora Postgres database service. The open-source PostgreSQL database originated in the 1980s. Supabase, a startup whose tools have become popular with "vibe-coding" tools such as Lovable and Figma's recently announced Figma Make, is also based on PostgreSQL.Cloud providers Google and Microsoft have their own options for running PostgreSQL databases. Databricks sells software that can help with cleaning up data, executing queries and running AI models.Microsoft, Snowflake and Databricks have all invested in Neon, whose co-founder and CEO is former Meta and Microsoft engineer Nikita Shamgunov. After leaving Meta, Shamgunov ran database startup SingleStore, formerly known as MemSQL. Neon charges based on the amount of computing and storage each customer uses per month. Its software can run in Amazon and Microsoft's clouds.More on Databricks acquisition of Neon on CNBCAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. If you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization click hereI interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch now to learn more about AI Voice Agents.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization, click here!Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. How AI Is Increasing Insider Threat Risk

The transformative power and rapid uptake of artificial intelligence have drawn users and businesses alike. By 2030, the AI market will surpass $826 billion. With the rising adoption of generative AI, Gartner reports that by next year, 30 percent of enterprises will automate at least half of their network traffic. But here comes the speed breaker. With AI tools so widely accessible, employees are bringing unsanctioned AI tools to work, such as AI chatbots, machine learning models for data analysis, and coding review assistants. According to a Microsoft study, 80 percent of employees last year were using unauthorized apps. Given that 38 percent of users exchange sensitive information with AI tools without company approval, a new threat known as shadow AI is hatching far-reaching security risks, including data exposure, inaccurate business decisions, and compliance issues.More employees are incorporating AI tools into their daily work routines. Marketing teams are finding the magic of ChatGPT good for automating email and social media campaigns and creating images. Finance teams are using AI data visualization tools to create patterns that provide deeper insight into company expenditures. Despite impressive outcomes, these tools are subject to shadow AI risk if organizations are unaware of their use.Rather than pulling company-sanctioned material, a customer service team resorting to unauthorized AI chatbots to answer a customer query may betray inconsistent or misleading information, potentially sharing confidential or proprietary data. Without altering the nature of work, shadow AI is substituting some form of human work and granting more autonomy to AI, introducing novel vulnerabilities. For example, under shadow IT, a Salesforce analyst is still performing the same underlying work. However, the same analyst using unauthorized AI tools to interpret customer behavior based on a proprietary data set can inadvertently reveal sensitive information in the process. Because of the abuse of shadow AI, most CISOs (75 percent) think insider threats are a greater risk than external attacks.More on AI increasing insider threat risk on Inc.I’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. Nvidia-Backed AI Startup AI21 Is Raising A $300 Million, Series D Funding Round

AI21, an Israeli startup building its own large language models (LLMs), is raising a $300 million Series D funding round, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. The valuation could not be learned. The company last raised $208 million at a $1.4 billion valuation in 2023. This round would bring the company's total funding to $636 million.AI21 was founded in 2017 by entrepreneurs and AI researchers Amnon Shashua (founder and CEO of Mobileye), Professor Yoav Shoham (Professor Emeritus at Stanford University and former Principal Scientist at Google), and Ori Goshen (serial entrepreneur and founder of CrowdX).While many AI startups rely on existing LLMs built by companies like Anthropic or OpenAI, AI21 is building its LLMs from the ground up. Its goal is to make generative AI more dependable for companies by reducing hallucinations, which are when LLMs present false information as fact. In March, AI21 launched an AI orchestration system called Maestro it says is capable of reducing hallucinations by 50% and boosting reasoning model accuracy to over 95%.Existing investors in AI21 include Google, Nvidia, Intel Capital, Walden Catalyst, Pitango, SCB10X, b2venture, Samsung Next, Comcast Ventures, and Ahren Innovation Capital. Customers include FNAC, Capgemini, and website builder Wix.About $7 billion in investment went to AI-related startups last month, representing 30% of venture funding worldwide, according to Crunchbase data.Israeli tech companies have raised more than $12 billion in 2024, up 31% from 2023, according to Startup Nation Central. Mira Murati Is Asking Investors To Commit To At Least A $50 Million Dollar Investment

Investors hoping to back former OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati's buzzy new AI startup are being asked to commit a minimum of $50 million, according to two sources with knowledge of the deal. Murati is raising around $2 billion of capital at a $10 billion valuation for Thinking Machines Lab, BI previously reported. Multiple sources say the megaround, led by Andreessen Horowitz, is nearing the final stages of fundraising.A spokesperson for Thinking Machines Lab declined to comment. A spokesperson for A16z did not respond to a request for comment. The round is not finalized, and the details could change. The financing would almost certainly rank as one of the largest seed rounds in history, which typically range in the low to mid-single digits. A $50 million check size is beyond the scope of most traditional seed investors because it would represent a substantial percentage, if not their entire fund. The minimum requirement and rich valuation reflect feverish investor enthusiasm for generative AI and the reality that there are a very limited number of technical founders with Murati's expertise and the team she has assembled. It's also enormously expensive to train AI models and recruit and retain top talent.Murati spent over six years at OpenAI, where she worked on the development of ChatGPT and other AI research initiatives. She was briefly appointed interim CEO in November 2023 after OpenAI's board abruptly fired Sam Altman, a move that sparked turmoil within the company. After Altman's reinstatement as CEO, Murati resumed her role as CTO.It has been a widely discussed mystery what exactly Thinking Machines will do to distinguish itself in a crowded and well-funded field that includes not only OpenAI but also Anthropic, Elon Musk's xAI, and Google's Gemini. In a blog post earlier this year, Murati positioned the startup as an artificial intelligence research and product lab focused on making AI more accessible.More on Thinking Machines investments on Business InsiderAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch to learn more about AI voice.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Visa And Mastercard Unveil Artificial Intelligence-Powered Shopping

Artificial intelligence is not just infiltrating the startup world. Now credit card giants Visa and Mastercard are getting into the AI game. Visa announced on Wednesday Intelligent Commerce, which it says enables AI to find and buy.AI agents will be able to shop and make purchases on behalf of consumers, based on preselected preferences. In a statement, Visa chief product and strategy officer Jack Forestell said: Each consumer sets the limits, and Visa helps manage the rest.Visa says that it is collaborating with a mix of tech giants and startups to develop AI-powered shopping experiences that are more personal, more secure, and more convenient. Those companies include Anthropic, IBM, Microsoft, Mistral AI, OpenAI, Perplexity, Samsung, and Stripe, among others. The move follows Mastercard’s announcement on Tuesday that it would give AI agents the ability to shop online for consumers. Mastercard said its new Agent Pay offering will enhance generative AI conversations for people and businesses alike by integrating payments into tailored recommendations and insights already provided on conversational platforms. In a statement, it said: This means that for a soon-to-be-30-year-old planning her milestone birthday party, she can now chat with an AI agent to proactively curate a selection of outfits and accessories from local boutiques and online retailers based on her style, the venue’s ambience, and weather forecasts. Based on her preferences and feedback, the intelligent agent can make the purchase, and also recommend the best way to pay, for example, using Mastercard One Credential.Mastercard said it will work with Microsoft on new use cases to scale agentic commerce, as well as with IBM, Braintree, and Checkout.com on other aspects of AI-powered shopping. Cast AI Raises $108 Million To Get The Most Out Of AI, Kubernetes, And More

The crush of traffic going into training and running AI has quickly turned into a major cost and resource headache for organizations. Today, Cast AI, a startup building tools to ease and optimize workloads for AI and other tasks with automation, is raising a major round of funding on the back of strong growth and partnerships with major players in the space. The company has raised a $108 million Series C that it will be using for more R&D and to expand its business in core markets like the U.S. and elsewhere. Sources familiar with the deal told TechCrunch that the round has the company at near unicorn valuation, post-money — close to $900 million from what I understand. It’s all about GPU, compute, and electricity, said Yuri Frayman, Cast’s CEO and co-founder. Our play is to ensure that we create efficiency, to be able to promote more workloads across GPUs. That is what we are about. For context, when Cast last raised capital, $35 million in November 2023, it was valued at $300 million post-money, per PitchBook. Prior to this latest round, the startup had raised just over $86 million. Cast AI is based out of Miami, Florida, but is heavily situated in Europe, and Frayman describes it as a European company, with most of its development done in Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria. It has amassed 2,100 customers in the last three years of business. Companies like Akamai, BMW, FICO, Hugging Face, NielsenIQ, and Swisscom are among those using its technology to analyze cloud and on-premise capacity and find the optimal cost-performance ratio for distributing compute workloads across them. Frayman says it integrates with all major cloud providers and anything else that a customer may be using.More on Cast AI’s fundraising and efficiency on TechCrunchAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch to learn more about AI voice.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Lightrun Grabs $70 Million Using AI To Debug Code In Production

AI-based coding has exploded in popularity on the promise that it will make developers’ jobs faster and easier. But AI coding has also resulted in something else: a vast increase in lines of code, and thus the likelihood of bugs resulting in crashes or other mishaps. On Monday, an Israeli startup called Lightrun, which has built an observability platform to identify and debug (remediate) code before those problems arise, announced a Series B of $70 million. The funding underscores not just the gap in the market for tools like these, but also Lightrun’s traction in meeting that demand.New backer Accel is co-leading the round alongside previous investor Insight Partners, with participation from Citi, Glilot Capital, GTM Capital, and Sorenson Capital. Lightrun has now raised $110 million to date, including a Series A led by Insight that we covered in 2021. The startup is not disclosing its valuation, but there are some strong signs that it’s doing well. First, there are its customers. Citi is a strategic backer and is one of an impressive list of big-name clients that also includes ADP, AT&T, ICE/NYSE, Inditex, Microsoft, Priceline, Salesforce, and SAP.Second, there is the product and the company’s timing for how it fits into the current market landscape. Back in July 2024, Lightrun announced a new AI-based debugging tool to use within organizations’ integrated developer environments (IDEs), appropriately called the Runtime Autonomous AI Debugger. Although the company’s platform was already delivering impressive results, this was the product that really spoke to the current predicament many enterprises are facing: AI is leading to a lot more coding and a lot more problems, and Lightrun had built an AI tool to address that. The company said that revenues have grown more than fourfold since it was launched and that this is what got investors knocking. Andrei Brasoveanu, the Accel partner who led the investment for the firm, said that he’d had his eye on Lightrun (observing, even) for years before this, and he finally took the plunge after that launch. Everything came together last year, he said. They saw acceleration in enterprise, all because of AI.More on Lightrun’s funding and AI acceleration on TechCrunchAdvertise On Neural News, AI Bros, and (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible PodcastPromote your AI startup or scale-up in all our publications with an audience that is focused on the many happenings going on in the artificial intelligence marketplace.Appear in our newsletter, on The AI Bros podcast, and our AI news video vignettes for one low price. Nvidia Stock Is Falling. This Huawei AI Chip Breakthrough Is Likely The Reason.

Nvidia was falling on Monday as it prepares for a new challenge in the artificial-intelligence chip sector from China’s Huawei Technologies. Nvidia shares were down 1.4% at $109.49 in premarket trading. The stock rose 4.3% in Friday’s session.Huawei has approached some Chinese tech companies about testing a new chip, called the Ascend 910D, which it hopes will be more powerful than Nvidia’s H100, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Nvidia’s H100 was released in 2022 and has since been superseded by later generations of its Hopper chips and its new Blackwell AI semiconductors. However, Nvidia is prohibited from selling its most powerful AI chips to Chinese companies and Huawei is already poised to ship more than 800,000 of its Ascend 910B and 910C chips to customers including state-owned telecommunications carriers and private AI developers such as TikTok parent ByteDance, according to the Wall Street Journal.Nvidia’s market in China was already set to shrink after the Trump administration said it would impose license requirements on future sales of its H20 AI accelerators, which were specifically designed to meet U.S. sanctions on Chinese AI exports. In fiscal 2025, 13% of Nvidia’s sales were from billing addresses in China, down from 26% in fiscal 2022.More on Nvidia’s challenges as Huawei grows on Barron’sAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch to learn more about AI voice.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei Wants To Open The Black Box Of AI Models By 2027

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay Thursday highlighting how little researchers understand about the inner workings of the world’s leading AI models. To address that, Amodei set an ambitious goal for Anthropic to reliably detect most AI model problems by 2027.Amodei acknowledges the challenge ahead. In The Urgency of Interpretability, the CEO says Anthropic has made early breakthroughs in tracing how models arrive at their answers — but emphasizes that far more research is needed to decode these systems as they grow more powerful.I am very concerned about deploying such systems without a better handle on interpretability, Amodei wrote in the essay. These systems will be absolutely central to the economy, technology, and national security, and will be capable of so much autonomy that I consider it basically unacceptable for humanity to be totally ignorant of how they work.Anthropic is one of the pioneering companies in mechanistic interpretability, a field that aims to open the black box of AI models and understand why they make the decisions they do. Despite the rapid performance improvements of the tech industry’s AI models, we still have relatively little idea how these systems arrive at decisions. For example, OpenAI recently launched new reasoning AI models, o3 and o4-mini, that perform better on some tasks, but also hallucinate more than its other models. The company doesn’t know why it’s happening. When a generative AI system does something, like summarize a financial document, we have no idea, at a specific or precise level, why it makes the choices it does — why it chooses certain words over others, or why it occasionally makes a mistake despite usually being accurate, Amodei wrote in the essay.More on Anthropic’s urgency of interpretability on TechCrunchAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch to learn more about AI voice.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Draft Executive Order Outlines Plan To Integrate AI Into K-12 Schools In USA

The Trump administration is considering issuing an executive order that would create a policy integrating artificial intelligence into K-12 education, according to a draft executive order circulated by the White House to several federal agencies on Monday and obtained by The Washington Post.Federal agencies would be instructed to take steps to train students in using AI and to incorporate it into teaching-related tasks under the draft order. The agencies would also be asked to partner with the private sector to develop relevant programs in schools. The draft is marked predecisional and could be subject to change before it is signed, or it could be abandoned.AI is driving innovation across industries, enhancing productivity, and reshaping the way we live and work, the draft order says. To ensure the United States remains a global leader in this technological revolution, we must provide our Nation’s youth with opportunities to cultivate the skills and understanding necessary to use and create the next generation of AI technology. The White House, the Departments of Education and Labor, and the Office of Science and Technology Policy did not immediately respond to a request for comment overnight. If implemented, this would be the latest instance of the presidential office using an executive order to encourage the adoption of AI.In January, President Donald Trump rescinded regulations introduced by the Biden administration on the industry and backed a private-sector investment of up to $500 billion to build AI data centers.More on the predecisional AI Executive Order on WaPoAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Famed AI Researcher, Tamay Besiroglu, Launches Controversial Startup To Replace All Human Workers - Everywhere

Every now and then, a Silicon Valley startup launches with such an absurdly described mission that it’s difficult to discern if the startup is for real or just satire.Such is the case with Mechanize, a startup whose founder – and the non-profit AI research organization he founded called Epoch – is being skewered on X after he announced it. Complaints encompass both the startup’s mission, and the implication that it sullies the reputation of his well-respected research institute. (A director at the research institute even posted on X, Yay just what I wanted for my bday: a comms crisis.)Mechanize was launched on Thursday via a post on X by its founder, famed AI researcher Tamay Besiroglu. The startup’s goal, Besiroglu wrote, is the full automation of all work and the full automation of the economy. Does that mean Mechanize is working to replace every human worker with an AI agent bot? Essentially, yes. The startup wants to provide the data, evaluations, and digital environments to make worker automation of any job possible.Besiroglu even calculated Mechanize’s total addressable market by aggregating all the wages humans are currently paid. The market potential here is absurdly large: workers in the US are paid around $18 trillion per year in aggregate. For the entire world, the number is over three times greater, around $60 trillion per year, he wrote.Besiroglu did, however, clarify to TechCrunch that our immediate focus is indeed on white-collar work rather than manual labor jobs that would require robotics. The response to the startup was often brutal. As X user Anthony Aguirre replied, Huge respect for the founders’ work at Epoch, but sad to see this. The automation of most human labor is indeed a giant prize for companies, which is why many of the biggest companies on Earth are already pursuing it. I think it will be a huge loss for most humans.More on Tamay’s controversial positioning for Mechanize on TechCrunchAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. OpenAI Looked At Buying Cursor Creator Before Turning To AI Coding Rival Windsurf

Before entering into talks to acquire artificial intelligence code-writing startup Windsurf, OpenAI looked at buying another option: Cursor. The ChatGPT creator last year reached out to Anysphere, the startup that sells the Cursor application, two people familiar with the matter told CNBC. OpenAI reached out again this year as Cursor was enjoying a new wave of popularity. The talks again failed to gain traction, one of the people said.OpenAI declined to comment. Anysphere did not respond to a request for comment. Bloomberg reported last month that Anysphere was in talks to raise funding at a valuation of close to $10 billion. OpenAI has recently engaged in talks to pay about $3 billion to acquire AI coding tool Windsurf, CNBC reported Wednesday, following a story published by Bloomberg. Should a Windsurf deal take place, it would be by far OpenAI's most expensive acquisition to date.Sam Altman, OpenAI co-founder and CEO, said on social media site X that his company's new o3 and o4-mini reasoning models, released on Wednesday, are super good at coding, so we are releasing a new product, Codex CLI, to make them easier to use. Anysphere said on X that the two new large language models, or LLMs, are available now in Cursor.Cursor's desktop application gained popularity last year for providing coding assistance by drawing from Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet model. In October, Microsoft added support for Anthropic's Sonnet model in its GitHub Copilot assistant, and weeks later, some programmers reported that Cursor was preferable to Microsoft's GitHub Copilot.More on OpenAI’s acquisition process of Windsurf on CNBCAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTube.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Advertise on Neural News, AI Bros, and (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible PodcastPromote your AI startup or scale-up in all our publications with an audience that is focused on the many happenings going on in the artificial intelligence marketplace.Appear in our newsletter, on The AI Bros podcast, and our AI news video vignettes for one low price. OpenAI Is Building A Social Network

OpenAI is working on its own X-like social network, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. While the project is still in early stages, we’re told there’s an internal prototype focused on ChatGPT’s image generation that has a social feed. CEO Sam Altman has been privately asking outsiders for feedback about the project, our sources say. It’s unclear if OpenAI’s plan is to release the social network as a separate app or integrate it into ChatGPT, which became the most downloaded app globally last month. An OpenAI spokesperson didn’t respond in time for publication.Launching a social network in or around ChatGPT would likely increase Altman’s already-bitter rivalry with Elon Musk. In February, after Musk made an unsolicited offer to purchase OpenAI for $97.4 billion, Altman responded: no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want.Entering the social media market also puts OpenAI on more of a collision course with Meta, which we’re told is planning to add a social feed to its coming standalone app for its AI assistant. When reports of Meta building a rival to the ChatGPT app first surfaced a couple of months ago, Altman shot back on X again by saying, ok fine maybe we’ll do a social app.A social app would also give OpenAI its own unique, real-time data that X and Meta already have to help train their AI models. Musk’s Grok surfaces content from X in its results (Musk recently went so far as to merge X and xAI into the same company), while Meta trains Llama on its vast trove of user data. One idea behind the OpenAI social prototype is to have AI help people share better content. The Grok integration with X has made everyone jealous, says someone working at another big AI lab. Especially how people create viral tweets by getting it to say something stupid.More on OpenAI’s social media network on TheVergeAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTube.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Anthropic Chief Says AI Tools Can Be A 'Force Multiplier' For Business

The president of one of Silicon Valley's most-watched AI ventures says tools powered by the technology will inevitably become a force multiplier for businesses and spark the kind of productivity gains that turbo-charged the U.S. economy in the 80s and '90s.Daniela Amodei, co-founder and president of Anthropic, also strongly emphasized in her session Wednesday at Canva Create the need for ethical and security guardrails to be built into the tools and applications that will be fueled by the generative AI tech being hatched by Anthropic and other firms. There's a strong focus at Anthropic on ensuring that AI tools are made available throughout the world to help ensure that the benefits spread beyond North America and Europe. We're thinking very critically about how access to this technology is really available to people regardless of where they are in the world, Amodei said during her Q&A with Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins. Without active efforts we worry that AI will be concentrated in the particular places that all technological breakthroughs have been. The Canva Create: Uncharted event brought together several thousand super-fans of the fast-growing design platform to SoFi Stadium for a day of panels and keynotes, product demos and general schmoozing in the stadium's spacious plaza areas. The growth of AI as a force in tech, business and culture was a key focus of the event. AI-powered tech has been central to Canva since it was founded in 2013 by Perkins, Cliff Obrecht (who is chief operating officer) and Cameron Adams (chief product officer).Amodei and Perkins spoke about use cases for AI tools, ranging from personal tasks to helping the largest firms manage some of their most labor-intensive tasks. Anthropic's most prominent product is the AI agent Claude. Amodei stressed that the potential is vast for an AI agent such as Claude that has the chance to get to know a user's quirks and ticks over a years-long period. These models have this ability to ingest a huge amount of context and information, Amodei said. You could have this personalized tutor for life. Mira Murati Doubled Fundraising Target For Her New AI Startup To $2 Billion

Mira Murati, OpenAI's former chief technology officer, is expanding her fundraising ambitions for Thinking Machines Lab, her hotly anticipated generative-AI company, which has been the subject of feverish interest and speculation from investors in Silicon Valley. The company is raising upward of $2 billion in venture funding, people familiar with the matter told Business Insider. That's double what Murati was seeking less than two months ago when BI reported she was raising about $1 billion at a $9 billion valuation. The new valuation Murati is seeking is not clear, though two people said it's at least $10 billion. The round is in progress, and details could change. A spokesperson for Murati declined to comment. The increased amount reflects intense investor enthusiasm for generative AI and the fact there are a very limited number of people with the expertise of Murati and the team she has assembled. It's also extremely expensive to train AI models and recruit and retain top talent. Bob McGrew, OpenAI's former chief research officer, and the researcher Alec Radford recently joined Thinking Machines.Several of Murati's other former coworkers are working for Thinking Machines, including John Schulman, who co-led the creation of ChatGPT; Jonathan Lachman, formerly the head of special projects at OpenAI; Barret Zoph, a co-creator of ChatGPT; and Alexander Kirillov, who worked closely with Murati on ChatGPT's voice mode. Murati spent 6 ½ years at OpenAI, where she worked on the development of ChatGPT and other AI research initiatives. She was briefly appointed interim CEO in November 2023 after OpenAI's board abruptly fired Sam Altman, a move that sparked turmoil within the company. After Altman's reinstatement as CEO, Murati resumed her role as CTO.It has been a mystery what exactly Thinking Machines will do to distinguish itself in a crowded and well-funded field that includes not only OpenAI but also Anthropic, Elon Musk's xAI, and Google's Gemini. In a blog post earlier this year, Murati positioned the startup as an artificial intelligence research and product lab focused on making AI more accessible.More on Murati’s fundraising and positioning on Business InsiderAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTube.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Andreessen Horowitz Seeks To Raise $20 Billion Megafund Amid Global Interest In US Artificial Intelligence Startups

Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz is seeking to raise about $20 billion in what will be the largest fund in its history, to capitalize on global investors' interest in backing U.S. artificial intelligence companies, sources told Reuters. The tech investment firm, known informally as a16z, has told limited partners that the fund will be dedicated to growth-stage investments in AI companies and draw upon global investors keen on investing in American companies, the sources said. The record fundraising and the goal of capitalizing on foreign investment interest in the U.S. tech industry come against the backdrop of a sweeping tariff plan by President Donald Trump to urge companies to manufacture goods in the U.S.To raise such a large amount of capital, a16z has been pitching it around the world. International LPs see the fund as a way to invest their money more easily into American AI companies without restrictions, one of the sources said. Andreessen Horowitz did not reply to requests for comment.A16z's founders, venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, announced last year they would support Trump, breaking with their traditional support for Democratic candidates, a sentiment shared by other prominent Silicon Valley figures such as Elon Musk. Even by the standards of a firm known for raising some of Silicon Valley's largest investment vehicles, the new fund would represent a colossal step up in scale. It would test LPs' interest in venture capital amid global economic turmoil and continue the debate over how scalable this asset class is while maintaining appealing returns. If successfully raised, the new megafund would be surpassed only by SoftBank's two Vision funds, a massive experiment by deploying unprecedented amounts of capital into the tech sector, which has yielded mixed results. SoftBank Vision Fund 1, launched in 2017, was a record-breaking $100 billion fund, while its successor, Vision Fund 2, manages about $56 billion from SoftBank's balance sheet. Another Silicon Valley venture capital firm, Sequoia Capital, has over $56 billion in assets under management across multiple funds, with its evergreen fund growing to $19.6 billion this year, according to filings.More on a16z’s $20 Billion AI megafund on ReutersAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson last week for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, and I shared it online yesterday.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTube.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. AI Coding Assistant Cursor Draws A Million New Users Without Even Trying

Many artificial intelligence startups are still struggling to find paying customers, but not Anysphere Inc., the maker of AI-powered coding assistant Cursor. Despite not having spent a single dollar on marketing, it’s become one of the fastest-growing startups of all time, not to mention part of the daily routine for software programmers at businesses ranging from deep tech companies like OpenAI to consumer brands such as Instacart, Spotify and Uber to organizations not generally associated with software, including Major League Baseball.Cursor is an AI-infused code editor that can analyze a programmer’s actions and suggest the next few lines. It also offers a chatbot that users can prod with code-related questions. Cursor is neither the only coding assistant available nor the first. But users have taken to its interface, which was built atop Microsoft Corp.’s popular code editor Visual Studio Code, and its support for a wide range of large language models, including its own and those of OpenAI and Anthropic. It just makes a thing that you do every day better and faster, says Anysphere President Oskar Schulz. In January, Anysphere hit $100 million in annual recurring revenue. By March, that had doubled, and more than a million people were using Cursor each day, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be named while discussing private information. Cursor offers monthly subscription plans—$20 for a pro account for individuals or $40 for a business account. Nearly all of Cursor’s revenue still comes from individual users, says Schulz, many of whom work at companies that aren’t paying for it directly. This intense interest from coders shows how attention in the AI industry is shifting toward tools that can harness AI models, rather than just the models themselves. Anysphere’s founders—Michael Truell (now the company’s chief executive officer), Aman Sanger, Arvid Lunnemark and Sualeh Asif—started working on Cursor in 2022. Before they released the product the following year, GitHub made its own code editor, GitHub Copilot, broadly available. OpenAI also introduced ChatGPT, sparking a global frenzy that allowed Cursor to arrive just as companies, coders and consumers were primed to experiment with new AI tools.More on the growth of Cursor’s AI Coding on Bloomberg BusinessweekAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I’m interviewing DBC Technologies Founder and CEO Dennis Wilson today for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast - stay tuned it will be released soon.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Meta Releases Two New Llama 4 AI Models

Meta has announced Llama 4, its newest collection of AI models that now power the Meta AI assistant on the web and in WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The two new models, also available to download from Meta or Hugging Face, are Llama 4 Scout — a small model capable of fitting in a single Nvidia H100 GPU — and Llama 4 Maverick, which is more akin to GPT-4o and Gemini 2.0 Flash. Meta says it’s still in the process of training Llama 4 Behemoth, which Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says is the highest performing base model in the world.According to Meta, Llama 4 Scout has a 10-million-token context window — the working memory of an AI model — and beats Google’s Gemma 3 and Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite models, as well as the open-source Mistral 3.1, across a broad range of widely reported benchmarks, while still fitting in a single Nvidia H100 GPU. Meta makes similar claims about its larger Maverick model’s performance versus OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash, and says its results are comparable to DeepSeek-V3 in coding and reasoning tasks using less than half the active parameters.Meanwhile, Llama 4 Behemoth has 288 billion active parameters with 2 trillion parameters in total. While it hasn’t been released yet, Meta says Behemoth can outperform its competitors (in this case GPT-4.5 and Claude Sonnet 3.7) on several STEM benchmarks. For Llama 4, Meta says it switched to a mixture of experts (MoE) architecture, an approach that conserves resources by using only the parts of a model that are needed for a given task. The company plans to discuss future plans for AI models and products at its LlamaCon conference, which is taking place on April 29th.As with its past models, Meta calls the Llama 4 collection open-source, although Llama has been criticized for its license restrictions. For instance, the Llama 4 licenserequires commercial entities with more than 700 million monthly active users to request permission from Meta before using its models, which the Open Source Initiative wrote in 2023 takes it out of the category of Open Source.More on Meta’s Llama 4, including Behemoth on The VergeAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I’m interviewing DBC Technologies Founder and CEO Dennis Wilson today for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast - stay tuned it will be released soon.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. OpenAI's ChatGPT-5 Is Coming "Soon" — Here's What We Know ...

OpenAI is paving the way for its next major AI evolution, confirming the development of GPT-5, a model the company says is designed to unify and streamline its increasingly complex lineup of AI offerings. This strategic shift aims to create a more powerful, multimodal, and accessible AI experience for all users. As a stepping stone, the company introduced GPT-4.5 as a research preview on February 27, 2025, internally codenamed "Orion."ChatGPT-4.5 was trained with unprecedented compute power and data for improved pattern recognition and creative insight. While offering better performance and efficiency than GPT-4, OpenAI notes it's not considered a "frontier" model and serves as the final release focused on traditional processing without the advanced, chain-of-thought style reasoning planned for its successor. GPT-5 marks a departure from maintaining separate models like GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and specialized o-series models (including o3).Instead, it will merge the best capabilities into a single, comprehensive system designed to intelligently utilize all of OpenAI's tools. In other words, the model will inherently decide when to engage in deep reasoning, provide quick responses, or leverage integrated tools such as search, code interpreter, memory, voice interaction, and the new Canvas feature for visual reasoning. The goal, as OpenAI states, is to move away from user complexity and deliver AI that just works. This approach promises a more intuitive and seamless user experience, most notably by eliminating the often-confusing model picker. GPT-5 aims to embody magic unified intelligence, instinctively knowing the appropriate level of processing or which tool to employ for a given task.Recently, OpenAI introduced users to image generation directly within ChatGPT-4o, which brought both excitement and frustration. It’s seems as if OpenAI has their work cut out for them with managing how to get ChatGPT-4o image generation to work before rolling out the new model. Perhaps that’s why CEO Sam Altman has not given a specific launch date for ChatGPT-5 other than soon.More on OpenAI’s ChatGPT-5 forthcoming release on Tom’s GuideAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.I’m interviewing DBC Technologies Founder and CEO Dennis Wilson today for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast - stay tuned it will be released soon.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Chinese Firms Buy $16 Billion Of NVIDIA’s Advanced Artificial Intelligence Chips

Chinese companies have reportedly placed at least $16 billion in orders for Nvidia’s H20 chips in the first three months of the year. ByteDance, Alibaba Group and Tencent Holdings are among companies that have been buying up the most advanced Nvidia artificial intelligence chips that are legally available in China under US export controls, The Information reported. The US has imposed export restrictions on Nvidia’s most advanced chips, including the Blackwell, to prevent them reaching China. AI chips designed by Nvidia are widely seen as being superior to rival products for AI work because of their capacity to more efficiently process huge amounts of data needed for machine-learning tasks. Access to the high-performing chips could fuel Chinese breakthroughs in AI and sophisticated computers for its military. The high demand for Nvidia’s H20 chips is believed to be driven by the Chinese start-up DeepSeek’s AI models. The H20 is the primary chip Nvidia is legally permitted to sell in China and was launched after the latest round of US export restrictions took effect in October 2023.H3C, one of China’s largest server makers, has warned of potential shortages of Nvidia’s H20 chip, according to a Reuters report in March. Potential supply constraints could hinder Chinese firms’ AI ambitions, especially as they expand their investments in the technology.Washington has banned exports of Nvidia’s most advanced chips to China since 2022 amid worries that advanced technologies could be used by China to build up its military capabilities. President Trump said in February he intends to impose tariffs of about 25 per cent on the imports of semiconductors and related products.More on China’s AI chip purchases on The TimesAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News. Gartner Forecasts Generative AI Spending To Hit $644 Billion In 2025

Analyst firm Gartner released a new report today forecasting that global GenAI spending will hit $644 billion in 2025. That figure represents a 76.4% year-over-year increase over GenAI spending in 2024.Gartner’s report joins a chorus of other industry analyses in recent months that all point to increasing adoption and spending for gen AI. Spending has been growing by 130%, according to research conducted by AI at Wharton, a research center at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Deloitte reportedthat 74% of enterprises have already met or exceeded GenAI initiatives. While it’s no surprise that spending on gen AI is growing, the Gartner report provides new clarity on where the money is going and where enterprises might get the most value. According to Gartner’s analysis, hardware will claim a staggering 80% of all GenAI spending in 2025. The forecast shows:* Devices will account for $398.3 billion (99.5% growth)* Servers will reach $180.6 billion (33.1% growth)* Software spending follows at just $37.2 billion (93.9% growth)* Services will total $27.8 billion (162.6% growth)The device market was the biggest surprise, it is the market most driven by the supply side rather than the demand side, John Lovelock, distinguished VP analyst at Gartner, told VentureBeat. Consumers and enterprises are not seeking AI enabled devices, but manufacturers are producing them and selling them. By 2027, it will be almost impossible to buy a PC that is not AI enabled.More on Gartner’s GenAI spending predictions on Venture BeatAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents.Web AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization message me.Thats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News.
