Jesus was faithfully building His church even through the martydom of Stephen scattering the church through two more areas of Jesus' original Acts 1:8 promise: Judea & Samaria.Samaria was known for magic during this time so how did Jesus build His church on fire through one of Stephen's friends named Philip?

Two Sundays ago, guest speaker Pastor Jae Soto introduced Stephen to us in Acts chapter 6, and now Lead Pastor Aaron will be unpacking one of the most powerful moments in the Book of Acts, the first martyr of the 1st Century Church ends up being Stephen and we see Jesus do something profound in the Heavens:Jesus was standing at the right hand of God the Father.....Why is this significant? Jealously is one of the deadliest sins in the Bible and today we will study how God sovereignly allowed the jealousy of the Sadducees to multiply the Gospel through the 1st Century Church for the advancement of His Kingdom.Do we count it joy when Jesus counts us worthy to suffer for His Name sake via jealous people in our lives? Suffering in the Sovereign hands of God has eternal purposes that we can't see at first, but has much good planned for the multiplication of the Gospel!

The opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is selfishness.The first toxic moment in the 1st century church took place in Acts chapter 5, so let's dig into what threatened the unity of the 1st century church: the stinginess & selfishness of a Christian married couple: Ananias & Sapphira.

God multiplied the generosity of the 1st Century Church with great grace!How do we walk in the grace and favor of God as witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus today united in Christ?As we close out Acts chapter 4 and begin our new season in our new building and new space, let's learn the significance of being a Spirit-filled and Spirit led church in gracious generosity in the Name of Christ!

When you are around others, what conclusions about you are they coming to?As we dive deeper into some of when the first moments the 1st century church experienced resistance, suffering, and persecution, we are going to explore one of the recognizable attributes of God's church being on fire for His glory, purposes, and mission: BOLDNESS.As a follower of Jesus, are you bold? Can we pray for boldness? How do we grow in boldness speaking truth in love and living truth by the power and authority of God through the Holy Spirit?

Have you ever done something the Holy Spirit led you to do, you begin to experience circumstances of resistance?Jesus promised that He will build His church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against His church. Gates are defensive weapons, so there will be resistance to what Jesus is building and we see the first form of suffering the 1st century church experienced.Today we will dive into the reality of being challenged as the church Jesus is building but know that what God sets on fire cannot be stopped, it can only be multiplied even when the enemy gets annoyed by our anointing in the Holy Spirit!

Jesus knows how to build His church even during moments of unexpected miracles and provisions!Today, we are going to see the first miracle in the 1st century church since that day of Pentecost and learn about the power and authority followers of Jesus have through the leading and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The church is not a building. The church is not a place. The church is a people. God's Holy people!The 1st century early church was born and now the lifestyle of the church is on full display. What did the early church prioritize? How did they live on mission together? Let's lean in to the description and prescription of this important passage as we wrap up Acts chapter 2!

On the day of this particular Pentecost, the 1st century early church was born!God kept His promise that Jesus gave His disciples about sending The Helper, The Holy Spirit and the church was officially born with demonstrations and explanations that multiplied the purpose of God in and through Israel as a witness to the world!Today, we will lean into this world changing moment that multiplied the movement of the Kingdom of God starting in Jerusalem and look at it's impact on us as disciples of Jesus today!

What does faithfulness to God look like?We see God's faithfulness on display as the apostles discern what God's will was and we learn of an individual named Matthias who had been a witness of the Lord Jesus faithfully!

Waiting is hard.To be a church on fire demands obedience, unity, and dependency on God's Word.We will see one essential part of the Gospel narrative in the Ascension of Jesus and what the impact of this meant for the Jesus' followers back then and what it means for Jesus' followers today!

The final words of Jesus were the first commands and first promises for the soon-to-be born early church.Today, we commence our “Church On Fire” Sunday teaching series through the Book of Acts by studying and unpacking the final words of Jesus as He concluded His earthly ministry!
