Follow me @auroravaticana! My book of the year! / What I learned about chastity (the most misunderstood virtue?) / Pope Leo's Prayer for Discernment

Send a textIn this episode, I talk about my book of the year: Chastity by Bishop Erik Varden. I picked it up during Lent kind of unexpectedly. And no—this isn’t a book just about celibacy or saying “no” to things. It’s about living with wholeness, poise, and freedom. An elegance of the heart. I share how this book helped me understand chastity not as repression, but as integration. It’s about bringing order to the senses, emotions, and desires so we’re not ruled by them—and that leads to a kind of inner peace and beauty I hadn’t experienced before.Basically, chastity is for everyone. It’s not just about what you don’t do—it’s about living free from possessiveness and learning how to love rightly. I end the episode with a prayer for discernment from Pope Leo that I’ve been praying myself lately. I hope this episode encourages you to see chastity in a whole new way.Follow me @auroravaticana!

Follow me @auroravaticana! Get close to the FIRE of the Sacred Heart / the burning bush / Pope Leo's prayer to the Sacred Heart

Send a textIt feels good to get close to the warmth of a fire during a cool night, but you wouldn't dare touch the fire itself. Yet the Sacred Heart is bursting in flames of love for us, and wants us not just to approach it, but to become engulfed in flames along with it and to spread this fire to the entire world. But how close is too close? Mother Mary teaches us that just as the burning bush was not consumed, she allowed herself to be taken up into God's fire of love and was not destroyed but became the source of life for humanity. Also, did you know pope Leo released a prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus? Let's pray it together! Follow me @auroravaticana! I would love your feedback, and let me know if there are topics you'd like me to talk about!

Intro to Lent Part III: St. Patrick's Day, St. Joseph, the Annunciation, Laetare Sunday and more!

Send a text***As of June 2025, the podcast’s name is Aurora Vaticana!***In this episode, we continue our Lenten journey by reflecting on key feast days and traditions that help us enter more deeply into the season. We start with St. Patrick, a model of missionary zeal and trust in God, model of prayer and I reflect on his AMAZING prayer, then turn to St. Joseph, by best friend and the best father in the entire world! We’ll also discuss the Annunciation and Mary’s fiat, Laetare Sunday and its joyful reprieve, and the veiling of statues, a striking tradition that helps us enter into the Passion more fully. And did you know that remembering our baptism is at the heart of Lent? I should've mentioned this in part I haha! Lent calls us to keep our baptismal garments unstained, but when we fail, God offers us the grace to be made new. Confession is that grace, and yet we so often neglect it. But this year can be different. NOW is the time! Also, I only mentioned one version of the Breastplate of St. Patrick put to music that I love but there is another one by Sarah Hart that is also my favorite! I've linked it below. Links I promised in the episode: Solemnities, Feasts and MemorialsBreastplate of Saint Patrick Short Version:Christ with me,Christ before me,Christ behind me,Christ in me,Christ beneath me,Christ above me,Christ on my right,Christ on my left,Christ when I lie down,Christ when I sit down,Christ when I arise,Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,Christ in every eye that sees me,Christ in every ear that hears me.Breastplate of Saint Patrick Long Version St. Patrick's Breastplate (Prayer of St. Patrick) - Jean Watson songThe Breastplate of St. Patrick - Sarah Hart song The AngelusFollow me @auroravaticana!
