Authentic On Air with Bruce Alexander
by Bruce Alexander
I am a life coach for ADHD parents and I wanted to create a podcast as a lead generation tool, originally. As I started to look at what that might look like; it became less and less about my business and more and more about putting something of value into the world and creating opportunities to have healing and insightful conversations that would facilitate more authenticity in the world. This podcast was created as a space to explore authenticity and the variety of ways it can affect how we show up daily. It has been focused even further in the second season to focus on neurodiversity inside of that struggle. Guests will range from licensed therapists and psychologists and entrepreneurs to stay-at-home moms and perpetual students. Every person in this world wakes up everyday and consciously or subconsciously makes a decision to enter the world as themselves or not and I want to explore the stories of how that decision has impacted peoples lives.By providing a variety of interviews,

The Burden Of Leadership| Authentic On Air S2:E13
I want to talk about leadership. But not what it looks like when you do but instead what it looks like when you don’t. I consider myself to be a leader. For myself. For my family. For my clients. For my following. Am I always a good leader? No. Here is the evidence that sometimes I flat out fail as a leader. 1. My wife is struggling to trust the process and have faith that we will find a place to live. As my family’s spiritual leader I am supposed to clarify the vision and hold space for my family to find clarity and confidence in the vision through my leadership. Fail. 2. I have clients still living in the darkness of their lies and I am missing opportunities to collide with them through meaningful conversations because I haven’t done my due diligence. I have a client who is hundreds of dollars behind on his coaching fees but because I wasn’t watching the backend of my automations I didn’t know. He is telling me weakly everything is trending well financially while he is declining on every payment. I can’t pay for him but I can hold him accountable and use it as a trigger for a truly honest conversation. But I have to be paying attention for that. 3. I want to build a social media movement guiding ADHD parents to mute their inner critic and trust their inner voice. Right now I can’t even get a conversation started with one follower, let alone tens of thousands. The leader of a movement knows what to say to engage his followers in meaningful conversation and I am just not there as a leader yet. I am not the leader I want to be! It sucks. But it is a fact. Facts fuel solutions though. That is good news. I just defined 3 solid things I can actively start working on so I can increase my status as a leader. That is how easy it is to grow when you tell the truth. You admit what isn’t working. You identify how you want it to work. You take action to fix it. What is something you are failing at that you want to fix right now?

Does your value ever change? Authentic On Air S2:E10
On today’s episode of Authentic On Air the topic of worthiness is the focus and it is an intriguing exploration of where to look for your personal value. Whether you see your value or not you have it. When you see it you start to treat yourself like you are worth a shit. From there you can start to make decisions that drive you to your purpose. Big takeaway: Know your worth and act accordingly. Live by a code. Tell the truth about your situations and deal with what you can prove to be true. Define a desired result and address the facts in a way that gets you the result you want. If what you want is to stop letting life happen to you we should have a conversation. At Impulsive we stop the guilt fear and shame conditioned into us and learn how to live by a code and deal in the currency of truth and the facts. From there we teach you how to trust your impulses to guide you to a future of passion and purpose. www.impulsive.life/consult

The Warped Mirror of Self-Perception| Authentic On Air S2:E9
If you are an ADHD adult it almost impossible to have a solid self-perception in this day and age. You were raised being told so much of what you naturally are is not ok. Intense. Unfiltered. Impulsive. Emotional. Talkative. Awkward. Uncomfortable. If you don’t feel like any of those things describe you try to remember the young version of you on the playground or the classroom being ostracized. Then try to shed the social norms that you have assimilated as preferred behavior and realize what is left is who you actually are. The dissonance that is created between the core you and the one that is shown to the world today causes a lot of internal conflict that shows itself in some funky ways. For me it was body dysmorphia and serial suppression to try and keep the depression and pain at bay. That started at a very young age. I just wanted to be a kid. But between my parents and the public school system I was told there was a specific type of kid I needed to be to be accepted in society. In becoming that type I buried the real me deep inside until many years later and when I looked in the literal and metaphorical mirror it was always warped. It showed parts of me as bigger than they were and others the reverse. Never could I just see myself for as I really was. Long story short, do not make decisions based on how you feel about what you see in the warped mirror! Live by a code. Tell the truth about your situations and deal with what you can prove to be true. Define a desired result and address the facts in a way that gets you the result you want. If what you want is to stop letting life happen to you we should have a conversation. At Impulsive we stop the guilt fear and shame conditioned into us and learn how to do just like I said before. Live by a code and deal in the currency of truth and the facts and from there teach you how to trust your impulses to guide you to a future of passion and purpose. www.impulsive.life/consult If you like my content and the way I teach then you will love my webinar on the connect method. The Cost of indecision | Authentic On Air with Bruce Alexander S2:E8
Indecision has costs me so much over my life! Years of deep engagement with my family. Hundreds of thousands of dollars left on the table. My fitness. A 400 lb bench press that I was just days away from. Everything I have lost in this life has been from 1 of 2 things. Indecision and lies. More often than not they could be tied to the same root! What decision are you putting off and what is it costing you? For example if you are putting off the decision to do everything that it takes to reconnect with your spouse in a deep and meaningful way it is going to cost you… big. But it doesn’t have to. Thursdays at 3:30pm central I will be teaching the Connect method to engage in dormant, distant, or estranged relationships with your closest loved ones. Go to www.impulsive.life/connect to sign up for this free webinar and learn this method which can bring even the worst connections back from the dead. If love ever existed in a relationship there is a path back, you just have to make the decision to do what it takes.

This weird episode doesn’t have a title. Isn’t that weird🫠? With Dan Moyer
What connection do you have with creativity? Do you apply out of the box thinking to social situations and your interactions with the world? Welcome to Authentic On Air with Bruce Alexander. I am your host Bruce Alexander. It might get a little weird in the Authentic On Air studio today… At least I hope so, because animator and installation Artist Dan Moyer is here today. I am looking forward to getting a peek into the mind of an artist. Creativity and authenticity are natural bedfellows is far as I am concerned. Creativity boils down to being able to find ways to solve problems. Authenticity boils down to honoring yourself through what ever problems you face. What connection do you have with creativity? Do you apply out of the box thinking to social situations and your interactions with the world? I wouldn’t have always considered applying creative solutions to the “fitting problem”. But as I have accepted the uniqueness of my authentic self I have learned that I have a special ability to look at things from an uncommon perspective. Why wouldn’t I leverage my unique skills to make my own life better? I was initially introduced to Dan through the homeschool group created by my guest from episode 21 Lori Ann Wild. I don’t remember seeing him at the group often but I knew that we shared at least some common ground when it came to parenting our children guided by love first. We became Facebook friends and eventually I remember attending one of his children’s birthday parties IRL. This was early in my journey of self acceptance. I had started to embrace my Authentic self but only around the people who had already seen and accepted the unfiltered version of myself I had only showed when I was too exhausted from shift work to deal with any sort of pretense. Dan existed at the time as a free spirit if I had ever seen one and so did a large majority of the people in attendance at this party. I always tried to tough out anything that could provide my kids a good time but this was hard. I remember a lot of tie die and leg hair. Bra-less chest and the smell of essential oils. I also noticed a lack of brown skin. Every wall I had shot up and I shut down. I am still not to the place where I am comfortable enough with my authentic self to be open immediately to every experience but I will sit in my discomfort until I put myself out there. Back then I was nowhere close to that point. In a space filled with people who had no desire to conform to what society told them to be or to hide they’re weird. I felt so out of place. Magnify that by being the only black man in a space and you have a recipe for not having a good time. I am embarrassed at all the snap judgments I made that day and I shudder to think how small I let others uniqueness make me feel in comparison. I left that party, what felt like an eternity later having made almost no meaningful connections. But I remained Facebook friends with Dan despite what had been shockingly disparate social circles. In the ensuing years I loved watching Dan on social media because he was like an open book. It felt like he almost made a point to put the ugliest parts of his life online for me to experience them with him. He was so open about the pain his was feeling throughout his divorce that I cried for him. When he became unemployed and was floundering like so many other were in secret he shared it. He would occasionally post on days that he was feeling low that he needed encouragement and he wouldn’t vague-book about it either. He would lay out how he was hurting and what kind of support he needed. Do you know how brave that is? I did and I reached out on one of his post and told him how much his honesty impacted me. We had probably the most vulnerable masculine exchange of emotions I had ever had as an adult to that point. That conversation laid a heavy part of the foundation that my acceptance of self sits on today. I want to thank Dan for unknowingly leading the way for me. For being a guiding light of vulnerability that eventually guided me to the safe harbor that is authenticity. Thank you Dan for being your Authentic self and thank you for being here on my show today. Authentic On Air Trailer
I am an authenticity and identity coach and I wanted to create a podcast as a lead-gen tool, originally. Guests will range from CEO’s and entrepreneurs to stay-at-home moms and perpetual students. Every person in this world wakes up everyday and consciously or subconsciously makes a decision to enter the world as themselves or not and I want to explore the stories of how that decision has impacted peoples lives. By providing a variety of interviews, stories and resources I desire to create a community that promotes growth, acceptance and understanding for people who have felt alone, singled out, or bullied for being different. Life is a complicated puzzle and we are all pieces. I hope you will join me as I help find your fit.

ABOUT THIS SHOW
I am a life coach for ADHD parents and I wanted to create a podcast as a lead generation tool, originally.
