What Went Wrong | Our Worship

Imagine trying to build a birdhouse with a toolbox full of nothing but hammers. Sure, you could hit a lot of things, but you’re not measuring, cutting, or drilling anything—you’re just making noise and hoping for the best. Turns out, one tool (no matter how good it is) can’t do the whole job. You actually need a variety, each one designed for a purpose, to build something that works.Join us at BCC this Sunday as we explore how it’s similar with people. We’re gifted differently on purpose, each with unique roles that complement, support, and strengthen one another. We’ll see how when we live and worship together the way we were designed, something beautiful gets built—and what went wrong when one church lost sight of that.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Our Freedom (Series: What Went Wrong)

Our FreedomWilliam Wallace’s cry in Braveheart still echoes in our culture: “You can take our lives, but you can never take our freedom!” It’s more than a movie line—it’s a mantra. We prize freedom, protect it, fight for it, and build our lives around it. Freedom means choice. Freedom means rights. Freedom means no one tells me what to do.But what if the way we cling to our freedom is actually what’s holding us captive? What if our insistence on doing what we want, when we want, has quietly become a kind of bondage—pulling us away from what God wants to do in us and through us? This Sunday, we’ll wrestle with a surprising truth: the freedom we’re fighting to protect might be the very thing keeping us from the life we were made for.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Our Integrity (Series: What Went Wrong?)

When a building collapses, the question isn’t just what happened—it’s what failed? Engineers don’t start with the surface; they go straight to the structure. Because almost every time, it comes down to integrity. Something that was supposed to hold everything together didn’t.The same is true in the church—and in our lives. When integrity is compromised, things don’t just drift… they collapse. This Sunday, as we continue our series What Went Wrong?, we’ll look at a church where what should have held firm had started to give way, and how we can guard against those same tendencies in our own lives.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Our Foundation (SERIES: What Went Wrong?)

Have you ever looked at the church and wondered… What happened? It started out great. The resurrection, the power, the community, the movement of God—but it didn’t take long before things began to drift. Division crept in. Pride took root. People picked sides. And before you knew it, the church of Christ started to look like something completely different.Join us this Sunday as we kick off our new series, What Went Wrong?, where we’ll take an honest look at how things fall apart—and how, in Christ, they can be set right again.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

    THIS IS US: Devoted

This Sunday we're diving into Acts 2:42–47 to ask a simple but searching question: what made the early church the early church? The answer isn't programs, resources, or perfectly polished people. It's one word: devoted. Join us as we explore the three devotions that shaped their lives and changed the world, and discover why that same spiritual DNA belongs to us today.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Amen - Easter Sunday (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

This Easter we will celebrate the resurrection with a powerful word — a word that has echoed through centuries, across languages, and throughout the world. It’s the final word of the Lord’s Prayer. The closing word of Scripture. And if we allow it, it can become the defining word of our lives. This Easter, we gather to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with a resounding “yes” to who God is and what He has done. Resurrection means victory of life over death, hope over despair, grace over sin. And in the power of the empty tomb, we are invited to join the great chorus of faith—lifting our voices together and declaring one life changing word: Amen.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

The Temptation is Real (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

This Sunday is Family Sunday, which means kids will be joining us in the service—and yes, that also means a room full of palm branches just waiting to be used as something they were definitely not meant to be. From swords to sibling-poking devices… the temptation is immediate and very real. And while our kid’s temptation might be a palm branch in the pew, it’s a reminder that temptations of all kinds surround us.This Sunday, we’re looking at how to handle life’s temptations. We’re all tempted—to compromise, to doubt, to rely on ourselves. But if we have eyes to see it, Palm Sunday shows us a way forward. While the crowd demanded power and control, Jesus chose a different path. Join us as we explore the way He leads us—not just away from temptation, but toward something better.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Trespassers will be Prosecuted (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

Anybody else remember blowing right past those No Trespassing signs as a kid. They were usually nailed to a tree at the edge of the woods. And honestly, nobody cared. It was just a shortcut to make to school before the first-period bell. Hop on some old path, cut across someone’s property, and pop out on the other side a few minutes faster. The sign felt more like a suggestion than a rule. But trespassing feels very different when someone crosses into something that belongs to me — my time, my trust, my reputation, my relationships. When that happens, it’s suddenly not a harmless shortcut anymore. Something in me knows it’s wrong and wants the score settled. This Sunday at BCC, we’re wrestling with what it means to forgive when someone trespasses against us, and why letting go of what we feel owed might be one of the hardest — and most freeing — things we ever do.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Bakeries & Breadlines (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

Standing in line at a bakery can feel like its own kind of joy. The smell of fresh bread drifting through the air… sourdough, baguettes, cinnamon rolls, crusty loaves you didn’t know existed but gladly end up taking home anyway. Bread in all its glory.Standing in a breadline tells a very different story. Quiet shuffling forward. Empty shelves behind the counter. People clutching tickets, hoping there will still be something left when they reach the front. Bread in all its necessity.Put those two experiences side by side and you begin to glimpse the world into which Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” This Sunday we’ll explore what that prayer meant when Jesus first taught it — and why it still matters today. Join us as we continue our journey toward Easter and discover how this ancient prayer speaks to life in bakeries and breadlines.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Kingdoms Come & Go (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

Remember building sandcastles as a kid — how much effort it took, how proud you were… and how quickly the tide washed it all away? That’s the way of kingdoms. If you’ve been watching the news, you know rulers rise and fall. And if we’re honest, that’s true of our ambitions as well — strong and impressive in the moment, yet fragile and fleeting against the tide of time and change. This Sunday we reflect on Jesus’ words, “Your kingdom come” — a Kingdom not like sandcastles that vanish with the next wave, but one that endures. Join us as we learn what it means to stop building on impermanent ground and start anchoring our lives in something that lasts.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Our Father (SERIES: Amen - A Journey to Easter)

Maybe you’ve said the “Our Father” because you were told to — trying to avoid a few extra raps from the ruler. Maybe you whispered it like a lucky charm before the big test you definitely didn’t study for. Maybe the words hung beautifully framed on the mantle while your own father was out working late again. For some of us it’s tradition. For others it’s superstition. For others it’s complicated. Still — in spite of all our baggage — Jesus looks at His followers and tells them to start their prayers like this, “Our Father.”This Sunday we begin a new series, preparing us for Easter, walking through the prayer Jesus taught us. Before the Our Father became routine, it was radical. Before it was recited, it was revolutionary. Whether this prayer feels familiar, forced, or fragile, come rediscover why these words were given — and why starting with “Our Father” might be better news than you ever realized.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

When the World Shakes (SERIES: A Good's Night Sleep)

Some nights it’s not what’s happening in your house that keeps you awake — it’s what’s happening in the world. Deep fakes and deep state. Elections and political uncertainty. Cultural shifts that feel fast and unfamiliar. The headlines refresh by the minute, and somewhere between the last scroll and the ceiling staring back at you, a question lingers: What is actually happening — and how am I supposed to respond? This week at BCC, we’ll explore what Scripture says about living faithfully when everything feels unsteady. How do we engage without being consumed? Care without collapsing? Speak without losing our peace? In a world that often feels like it’s shaking, we’ll look at how we cancan steady our hearts, clarify our calling, and finally get a good night’s sleep.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Markets Never Sleep, So How Can I? (SERIES: A Good Night's Sleep)

The market never sleeps. As the NASDAQ closes and you’re on the train back to Westchester, the Hang Seng is getting ready to open, futures are moving, and some algorithm on the other side of the world has re-pricing everything you thought you understood by dinner. Earnings reports drop overnight, headlines swing sentiment, and lying in bed, your brain decides it’s time for a late-night portfolio review — whether you asked for it or not.Or maybe it’s not the markets at all. Maybe it’s the rent, the heat bill, the credit card balance, and the quiet math that doesn’t quite add up to make this month actually work. This week at BCC, we’ll talk honestly about how money keeps us awake — from global exchanges to kitchen-table budgets — and explore a wiser way of handling it that can move us from anxiety to peace, and toward the kind of life that lets us finally get a good night’s sleep.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Parenting Past Bedtime (SERIES: A Good Night's Rest)

Kids have a remarkable ability to keep us up at night. It’s crying babies, wondering if that teen will be home by the 11pm curfew, and a whole lot in between. Sometimes it’s replaying conversations, worrying about their future, or wondering if that thing you said at dinner will require therapy later. For some, it’s when will we have kids. For others, why do my grown children still act like kids? But for many of us, it’s the same reality: when it comes to children, sleep is fleeting. This week at BCC, we’ll explore some of the common parenting traps that quietly steal our rest. We’ll also look at how biblical wisdom points us toward another way—one that forms hearts rather than manages outcomes—and invites us to trust God enough to finally get a good night’s sleep.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Snowfall and Sleeping In (SERIES: A Good Night's Sleep)

Over the last two weeks, I’ve genuinely missed you all. A Sunday “off” for the pastoral staff isn’t quite as restful as it might sound—especially when our heart is still very much with the people you long to gather with. Add in snowstorms, shoveling-induced back pain, and nights spent half-awake checking weather forecasts, and let’s just say my sleep tracker has been unimpressed. These past weeks have carried a particular tension: holding safety as a real priority while also deeply wanting—really wanting—to be together as the church. Watching the forecast, weighing decisions, praying for wisdom… all of it has made me even more aware of how much gathering together matters. And here we are again, with more snow in the forecast this weekend. I’m praying that the weather will not once more complicate what we’re longing for—that we’ll be able to gather, worship, laugh, and simply be the community God has formed us to be.Because when we are together, something settles in our souls. Scripture names it in Psalm 133, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

The Way to a Good Night's Sleep (SERIES: A Good Night's Sleep)

We’ve all been there—tossing and turning in the dark, watching the clock creep forward, replaying the day behind us while worrying about everything tomorrow holds. Stress lingers, anxieties grow louder, and rest feels just out of reach. For many of us, sleepless nights have become normal—but that doesn’t mean they’re inevitable. What if there were another way? What if rest wasn’t something we had to chase, but something we could learn? This Sunday, we’re kicking off a new series called A Good Night’s Sleep, exploring how God’s wisdom speaks directly into the stress and pressures that keep us awake. Join us as we begin a journey toward deeper rest, healthier rhythms, and a more peaceful way of living.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

    The Ultimate Life Hack

What if there were one simple thing you could do that had an outsized impact on every other area of your life—your relationships, your work, your faith, and your sense of purpose? And no, it’s not coming to church more often…As we step into a new year, many of us are looking for change, but real transformation often starts with something smaller—and deeper—than we expect.Join us for the first gathering of the new year as we uncover a surprisingly practical “hack” that can reshape how you live, choose, and grow in 2026. It’s not a resolution or a gimmick—it’s a way of living that creates momentum everywhere else. Come curious, come hopeful, and come ready to start the year together.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

    The LORD Over Every Season

Life moves in seasons. Some days feel light and easy, like everything’s falling into place. Others are heavy, uncertain, or downright exhausting. We all pass through moments of joy, growth, waiting, and struggle—and each season asks something different of us.Join us at BCC this Sunday as we learn from an ancient poem that has guided hearts for thousands of years, reminding us that we don’t walk any season alone. It invites us to let the Lord be our shepherd—leading us in the calm, strengthening us in the hard, and staying close through it all. Come rediscover the timeless wisdom of Psalm 23 and see how it still speaks to your life today.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

A Random Snow Day (SERIES: A Random Christmas)

In the middle of our A Random Christmas series, we experienced one of our own unexpected moments—a random snow day in mid-December that kept us from gathering together last week. It wasn’t planned and it definitely wasn’t on the calendar. But that’s exactly the heart of this season. The Christmas story itself unfolds through interruptions, surprises, and moments no one saw coming.Join us this Sunday as we return and step into our final week of Advent, moving closer to our Christmas Eve celebration, and as we remember that even the seemly random and unexpected of our lives can be part of what God is doing.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Three Random Travelers (SERIES: A Random Christmas)

Have you ever had a random person crash a party? Nobody quite knows who they are, how they got invited, or what to do with them once they're standing there holding a plate of food. You can’t just throw them out, right? But now it’s story and every time you look at the picture, you laugh and wonder, who was that guy?Join us this week as we explore the three most famous party-crashers of all time. These random travelers from a distant land who show up uninvited, unexpected, and unexplained—yet they become central characters in the Christmas story. Together we’ll discover why God chose them of all people, and what their journey reveals about how God works in the “random” people of our lives.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

A Random Decree (SERIES: A Random Christmas)

The Christmas story reads—and must have felt—like a series of sheer random events. It begins with a Roman decree from a distant emperor, a forced trip to Bethlehem, and a young couple caught in political decisions they didn’t choose. Nothing about it looks planned or spiritual at first glance; it simply feels random.Honestly, our lives can feel the same way—unexpected news, plans disrupted, and circumstances that appear out of nowhere. At Christmas, we celebrate that God brought purpose out of the randomness, even when no one could see it, but we often struggle to believe He’s doing the same in our own lives. Join us this week at BCC as we ask: what if this Christmas God is using the seeming randomness in my life to birth something new?  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Remember, Remember the 5th of November (SERIES: Threaded Through The Silence)

Anybody remember the famous refrain from V for Vendetta, “Remember, remember the 5th of November?” It stuck with me. Not because I really care to remember a date, but because it shows how remembering can be a spark—something active, something that shapes how people think and act. It isn’t nostalgia; it’s something more. But I’m realizing this idea of active remembering matters far beyond the movie. The moments that shape us deserve more than a quick glance in the rearview mirror—they invite us to return to them with intention, and they meet us again to shape who we’re becoming. This Sunday, we’re exploring what it looks like to make remembering something we practice, not just something we occasionally stumble upon. I hope you’ll join us as we close out our series, Threaded through the Silence.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

How to Spot a Knockoff (SERIES: Threaded Through The Silence)

You can often spot a knockoff by looking closely at the stitching. The seams are uneven, the threads loose or frayed, and the craftsmanship looks rushed or inconsistent. But when you hold the real thing, the difference is unmistakable—the threading is strong, consistent, and often invisible. The strength lies not in what’s obvious, but in the skill and care that hold everything together beneath the surface. What if God’s work in our lives was like that? What if the very evidence that He’s working is that we can’t always see it? His silent hand weaves through our days quietly and carefully, strengthening the fabric of our lives in ways we may not notice until we look back. Join us this week at BCC as we explore the idea that just because His stitching is unseen doesn’t mean it’s absent—it means it’s masterful.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

When Fasting Just Makes You Hungry (SERIES: Threaded Through The Silence)

I’ve tried just about every spiritual practice that promises to bring me closer to God—praying longer, journaling harder, fasting more. But more often than not, when I fast, I don’t end up enlightened; I just end up hungry. The stomach growls, the prayers echo, and the heavens feel as silent as ever. Maybe you’ve been there too: doing all the “right” things, hoping for a spark of divine presence, and wondering if you’re the only one still waiting for something real.Join us this week at BCC as we talk honestly about what to do when faith feels unanswered. And what it means when we give God our best effort and all we seem to get back is quiet. Together, we’ll explore how silence might not mean absence, but opportunity—and may actually be exactly what we need.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Crime Doesn't Pay? (SERIES: Threaded Through The Silence)

You try to do the right thing. I know you do. You tell the truth when it would be easier to lie, you stay kind when bitterness would feel justified, and you hold yourself to a standard even when no one else seems to care. You do what’s right — and yet, somehow, you’re the one left behind. Someone else gets the recognition, the reward, the blessing you hoped would come from your effort and integrity. And you’re left wondering why doing right feels so much like losing.Do you know that ache — the one that comes when goodness doesn’t seem to pay off? It comes when a God of justice lets the wicked prosper and the faithful go unnoticed. What do we do then? Do we still hold to what’s right when it feels like no one, not even God, is keeping score? This week at BCC, we’ll wrestle with that tension — not to chase comfort, but to walk with you when the world seems to have forgotten what justice looks like and God seems so silent.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

The Powers That Be (SERIES: Threaded Through The Silence)

Ever had those moments in your life when God feels absent? When prayers echo into emptiness, when life unravels, and heaven stays quiet? We all face seasons when God’s silence feels louder than His presence — when the story we’re living doesn’t seem to have a trace of Him in it, when we wonder if he’s even there at all. If you’re feeling that way now, you are not alone. This week at BCC, we begin a new series on the story of Esther — the only book in Scripture where God’s name is never mentioned, His voice never heard, and His presence never acknowledged. It is the story of a God who remains silent. And yet, through the silence, the story still moves. Join us as we discover that even in God’s silence, our stories still move.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Worship in Everything (SERIES: So Compelling)

Worship and awe come naturally when we encounter beauty—whether in a sunset, a deep connection, or a moment of joy, our hearts naturally overflow with gratitude. But when hardship strikes, worship feels much harder. The weight of pain, loss, and struggle often clouds our ability to see beyond our circumstances. Yet, imagine the freedom and joy we could experience if we learned to worship even in the hardest moments. If we could shift our focus back to worship, it might transform how we see God, ourselves, and our situation. Join us at BCC this week as we explore a powerful idea together, learning how worship isn’t just for the good times, but that we are called to Worship In Everything.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Don't Go It Alone (SERIES: So Compelling)

Ever tried assembling IKEA furniture without a second pair of hands? You start off strong, but soon you're wrestling with a wobbly bookshelf, using your knee to stabilize one side while your other hand fumbles for a screwdriver. It’s a delicate dance of frustration, questionable balance, and by the end, you've somehow insulted three Swedish ancestors just by turning a bookcase into a modern art sculpture that has a cat trapped behind a glued-down faux-wood panel.Going it alone sounds heroic—but the truth is, we’re not meant to do everything by ourselves. Whether it’s furniture, tough decisions, or life’s messier moments, having support makes the load lighter and the process better. Leaning on others isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom. Join us this week at BCC to explore what we mean when we say, Don’t Go It Alone.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Pray Now & Later (SERIES: So Compelling)

Prayer — a practice that, for millennia, has connected humanity to the divine. Quiet moments of reverence, approaching with awe, as we tread on holy ground. For many, prayer is a formal act, approached with careful words and sacred silence, reserved for special times or places. But what if that’s what prayer was never meant to be? What if it looked more like how our children come to us—spontaneous, unfiltered, and persistent? What if God invites us to pray like that—not formally or occasionally, but constantly and courageously, like children who never hesitate to ask, or ask again? Join us this week at BCC as we explore the simple but powerful practice of prayer.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Read that Bible (SERIES: So Compelling)

Wouldn’t you want to know—really know—what God’s will is for your life? What if we told you it’s not a mystery, not a fantasy, and not something reserved for just a few “spiritual” people?God’s will is clear—and it’s better than you think.Join us this Sunday at BCC as we unpack exactly what God wants from you and for you.No hype. No guesswork. Just the truth that can change your life and all you’ve got to do is Read that Bible.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Guess who's coming to dinner? (SERIES: So Compelling)

Remember that time you showed up to dinner and they were there? Yeah—them. The person you’ve expertly dodged for months, only to find them casually buttering a roll across the table like it’s not a social ambush. You smiled so hard your face twitched. The small talk? Olympic-level. The escape plan? Foiled by shared dessert. A night of perfectly planned awkwardness, garnished with parsley and unresolved tension. But what if instead of a disaster, it’s divine timing? What if the host wanted you both there? Maybe they need it. Maybe you need it. And maybe—just maybe—this isn’t about an old grudge or awkward eye contact across the roast chicken. Maybe it’s about showing up, staying in the room, and finding out what’s possible when we sit at the table.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

    So Compelling (SERIES: So Compelling)

Why does the church exist? Some say it’s a place for worship. Others point to teaching, fellowship, or personal growth. And while all of those are true, they’re not the whole story. What if the church was meant for more? What if we were invited into something bigger—something with the power to transform lives, renew communities, and impact our world? Jesus believed the church would be a force that changes everything. At Bedford Community Church, we still believe in that vision—and we’re claiming it for today.Join us this Sunday for our fall kick off, as we dream bigger and imagine how BCC can bring lasting change—right here in Bedford, across Northern Westchester, and even around the globe. This is more than church... It's a movement.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Do The Right Thing (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

Who are you to tell me what’s right or wrong? I’ve lived my life, I’ve made my own decisions, and I know what’s true. You can believe what you want, but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. We all have different experiences, and what’s right for one person might not be for another. If I feel something is right, then it’s right for me. Anyway, we all deserve the freedom to decide for ourselves what’s best.To many of us, that all looks good and sounds good. But what if every single sentence above is wrong. Where would that leave us? Join us Sunday as we find out.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

The Weakest Man I Know (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

When you think of a weak man, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s the guy who can’t open a jar of pickles without calling for backup. Maybe it’s the guy who can’t change a tire without calling AAA. Perhaps it’s the guy who wimps out when the extra spicy wings are served. Or maybe someone who’s just a little too nervous, or skittish, or timid. But here’s the twist: the strongest man in history, the one who tears a lion apart with his bare hands, might prove to be the weakest of them all. Join us as we explore how even the mightiest men can be unexpectedly fragile—and how real strength sometimes shows up in the places we least expect.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Breaking Promises For Jesus (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

Some promises bind us to a future we never should have agreed to. They might have been made in a moment of fear, pride, or desperation, but once spoken, they start steering our lives in destructive directions. The trouble is, we often think “keeping our word” is automatically noble—even when the vow itself is rotten. But the truth is that faithfulness to an unfaithful vow is not faithful at all. This week at BCC, we’re diving into the worst vow in all of Scripture —a single, tragic promise that spiraled into needless pain and loss. But here’s the thing: many of us make the very same vow without even realizing it, and in our hearts, we’ve signed the same dangerous contract. Together, we’ll uncover how to recognize it, why it’s so terrible, and how to break free before it breaks us and our families.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Crushing It (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

We all want to be crushing it. Maybe you’re conquering your career, owning your workout plan, or moonlighting your way to side-hustle stardom. But what if your version of “crushing it” is secretly crushing you? Fear and Loathing in Midian (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

Fear and loathing, a potent and perilous cocktail. When consumed by these powerful emotions, individuals can be motivated to bring great change or spiral into destructive patterns, harming themselves and those around them. Johnny Depp gave us a great, albeit extreme, showcasing of how an unchecked descent into paranoia and resentment can distort reality, leading to a profound sense of isolation and disillusionment. So, what then do we do when we encounter these unsettling forces, not just in a cinema seat, but within our sacred texts, or maybe more uncomfortably, within ourselves? This week at BCC, we explore fear and loathing in scripture. And just like Depp’s 1998 cult classic, our story has some adult-themed content. But, if we can find God at work in the most challenging stories of scripture, maybe we can find him at work in the most challenging parts of our lives.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Camping Out (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

Camping. It’s supposed to be all about fresh air, starry skies, and bonding with nature, but in reality, it’s more about fighting with a tent that won’t cooperate and accidentally roasting marshmallows to charcoal. And then there’s the wildlife—squirrels plotting a snack heist and raccoons holding meetings about your granola bars. I’ve had my share of camping fails, but none come close to the legendary story of Sisera & Jael we’re exploring this week. Trust me, this makes my tent pole incident seem like a walk in the park. This week, we’re diving into the tale of the worst camping injury ever imagined a tent spike straight through the head. And why—despite how gruesome it sound — it holds some deep lessons for us today. This is not your family campout and it is certainly Not Your Kid’s Bible Story.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Am I Enough? (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

We’ve all heard it: “I am enough.” It sounds empowering. But what if, deep down, you’re not buying it? What if the truth is, you don’t feel like enough - and maybe never have?Join us for a raw, honest conversation about weakness, doubt, and the limits of self-affirmation. We’re peeling back the polished slogans to wrestle with what it really means to be human - and to need help. Oh, and yes- there’s also a cool assassin story involved. Intrigued? You should be.This isn’t a tidy Sunday School lesson. It’s not your kid’s bible story. It’s something better.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Doom Spiral (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)

The Bible we grew up with as kids often sanitized the real stories, but what if the truth was more intense, raw, and real? The truth is, just like our lives, the scriptures are rated R. This summer, we’re diving into the Bible’s unfiltered narratives — the gritty, complicated, and sometimes shocking accounts that reflect the world as it is. These are stories that may not be “family friendly”; but if we can lean in and understand them, they could shed light on the toughest challenges we face in our own lives. This week, we’re kicking things off with a deep dive into the Doom Spiral — the destructive, endless cycle of hurt and confusion many of us get caught in and how God wants to get us out.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

    That Changed Everything: Part 1

Last week, we celebrated baptisms—moments that declared, “Jesus is Lord, and I’m His.” That kind of declaration? It changes everything. But what happens next? What really changes? This week, we look at Peter—passionate, impulsive, flawed, and deeply loved by Jesus. Peter denied even knowing Jesus at His darkest hour… and yet, Jesus didn’t leave him there. He found Peter, forgave him, and gave him a mission.Because Jesus doesn’t just forgive our past—He redeems it.He doesn’t just welcome us back—He recommissions us.Just like Peter, we are invited to follow Jesus into a life of purpose, obedience, and trust. Even when it’s hard. Even when it costs us.Your past isn’t your prison. Your present has a purpose. This Changes Everything.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Put On The Jersey (SERIES: In The Game)

Do you remember wearing your first jersey? That rush of excitement, the sense of pride swelling in your chest as you realized you were part of something bigger than yourself. The colors, the logo, the name on the back — it all felt like more than just clothing. It was identity. It was belonging. You stood a little taller, your heart beat a little faster, and there was this buzz of anticipation — because this meant game day was coming, and you were no longer just a fan or a spectator. You were in it. On the team. Ready to give it everything.Baptism should stir that feeling in us. When you're baptized, scripture says you are clothed in Christ. It's your jersey moment—a declaration that you're on His team, part of His family, and ready to live with purpose. It's not just a tradition or a symbol; it's a new beginning. This is a moment that should make your heart race—not out of nerves but out of joy and anticipation. It means you're not just watching from the sidelines anymore. You belong to Jesus, and your life ahead is full of meaning, mission, and hope. You're in the game.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Leave It All On The Field (SERIES: In The Game)

The Greats step onto the field with one goal - to give everything they've got. Through sweat, sacrifice, and unrelenting effort, they push past pain and fatigue, driven by purpose and passion. Every sprint, every tackle, every moment is fueled by a desire to leave nothing in reserve. Win or lose, they know they held nothing back. This week at BCC, we’ll see how God calls us to live with that kind of devotion. He doesn’t ask for perfection, but for everything. He gave His all for us — and now calls us to leave it all on the field for Him.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Fair Weather Fans (SERIES: In The Game)

We’ve all seen them come out of the woodwork — when a team wins the championship, suddenly everyone’s repping the jersey. It’s easy to jump on the bandwagon when things are going well, but few stick around through the tough seasons. The same is true for faith—it’s easy when life is smooth, but true followers show up and stand firm when life gets tough. This week, we’ll explore whether we’re fully committed followers or maybe just Fair Weather Fans.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Away Game Fans (SERIES: In The Game)

Remember the thrill of being at the stadium, caught up in the excitement of the game?  But, by the time you’re stuck in the parking lot traffic, that passion starts to fade, and life returns to normal.  Sometimes religion feels the same way — a fleeting moment, then we get back to real life.  What if there was something more — what if there was a lasting, life-changing experience for those willing to get in the game?  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org

Home Game Fans (SERIES: In The Game)

Have you ever walked into a church and instantly felt like you didn’t belong? Everyone around you knew exactly what to do—when to stand, when to sit, what to say, and even what to wear. Meanwhile, you're left trying to figure out what the unspoken rules are, feeling like you're the only one who missed the memo. Or maybe it was an encounter with one of those church people who made you feel like you’re the outsider in a game where the rules are already set. I’ve felt like that and it made me wonder — Is this really what faith is supposed to be like?Maybe you grew up playing by the rules, and they feel like home. In fact, many of us have come to cherish—dare I say, venerate—the rules. They offer structure, certainty, and control. They tell us who’s in and who’s out. They measure our progress to help us feel like we’re doing it "right." For some, this sense of order becomes comforting, even necessary, and we start to believe that faith is about checking off the right boxes and keeping everything neat and tidy. But what if God never meant for Christianity to be about following a bunch of rules? What if God wants to be so more to you than a divine disciplinarian? Join us this week at BCC as we learn that fans of the rules may not actually be followers of Jesus, and those really wondering what faith is supposed to be like may actually find an answer that satisfies.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org
