His research is of an applied nature and involves such diverse issues as food safety, drinking water safety, cancer prevention and control, asbestos abatement, and the health effects of homelessness.Dr. McSwane has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of environmental health, food protection, and public health. He is co-author of Essentials of Food Safety and Sanitation and the SuperSafeMark Retail Best Practices and Guide to Food Safety and Sanitation training series. These textbooks and their supplemental training materials are rapidly becoming the preferred tools for training retail food establishment managers about food safety and sanitation.
