The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) (ft Darryl Edge of Cage/Rage: A Nicolas Cage Podcast and Getting Dafoe You: A Willem Dafoe Podcast)

Welcome to the fifth episode of Bloody Sam: A Peckinpah Fan Podcast! Over the course of the next 14 episodes I will be looking at all the feature films of the legendary director Sam Peckinpah. Each episode will also feature a special guest which will range from Peckinpah newbies right through to die hard fanatics. On this episode Host Scott and special guest Darryl Edge (Cage/Rage: A Nicolas Cage Podcast and Getting Dafoe You: A Willem Dafoe Podcast) look at a more unusual Peckinpah film as he delves into comedy (Granted it is still a Western) with The Ballad of Cable Hogue. Over the course the episode we talk about how this film is both not very Peckinpah (with its humour, romance and gentle spirit. Hell, it even has musical number) and is very Peckinpah (it has number of the regular Peckinpah players, a deep cynicism about authority figures and is once again about the death of the west). Plus, Scott introduces Darryl to the fact Peckinpah is a real person (you will have to listen in for more context on that).
