    Code Blue

Code Blue ( © 1983) Vintage Series CD When Boise was asked what inspired this original composition…,He replied humorously; “anyone trying to play this piece at my age will probably turn into a "Code Blue"; trying to do it playing piano and keyboard simultaneously. The recording was made July 10,1983 at the Chicago,IL. residence of Boise Bernard Queen It was intended on being a "rehearsal"; however in those days, what often came out was the "unexpected". Mr. Mark McCloud About the recording: The recording uses a blend of mostly acoustic; along with virtual orchestral instrumentation with the piano. The work utilizes elements as a mid 20th century "pop-themed" classicism; as a model much like that of Richard Addensells "Warsaw Concerto did during that period. Please also visit : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--Y3TfuI4GE#t=90 This video is during the rehearsal session of the recording shortly before the orchestra was brought in. It took about "three" take sessions before we got it down right. Special thanks again to AFDMS recording for their time and patience and advice. Note: You might have to click the page "refresh" to activate the video app. Additional Note: Mr. Queen credits this work along with his Rhapsody for Classic Film that spearheaded his recovery from stage four throat cancer while he was undergoing treatment by the Univ of Chicago Hospitals back in 2010. A close friend and colleague had heard bits and parts of the unfinished piano solo portion of it on an old and badly worn cassette tape while retrieving mail from Boise's apartment. Boise was then urged to finish a work that was started back in 1973 as part of a therapy regimen in his post treatment recovery. Reluctantly at first; Boise slowly began to manuscript bits and parts of the unfinished piano portion. The biggest challenge was the development of the orchestration; which was no mere small feat for someone not that familiar with orchestral writing or theory. Going by a combination of self-study, instinct and improvisation; Boise amassed his first contemporary classical work that is slowly attracting the appeal of regular listeners of its "poetic beauty and passion". We welcome your visit to Boise's website for a more complete audio and video sampling of his compositions @ www.BoiseQueen.com Song Lyrics: "Once Upon A Child of Time" Once upon a child of Time A boy with a sweet and gentle smile.. Had his daddy’s looks and his mother’s eyes..that seemed to shine Once upon this child of Time saw day’s Giving happy joys of life..through trees And streams..his world was fields of Green ..blue sky and sea (*) Through years his shining heart grew cold And bitter..a lifetime of troubles..deep Lost dreams had shed its glitter..he found Himself no peace nor love to go on living The world was wrong..except in a psalm Once..he’d face his hardest time making up his mind at a five n’ dime..as he’d reminisce on that …first love’s kiss meant just for two And memories yet…about that little pet..where love and trust …meant getting wet..and sleeping nights against a furry friend…that likes your nose (repeat from) (*) He found himself a sweet-glad-happy psalm..that he could sing and play throughout the dawn..He found himself a sweet glad-happy-psalm that he could sing and play and undo all that wrong Tho’ life has tapped your golden years as your heart has weathered many storms of tears..with a psalm that’s right ..to set lost dreams in sight ..you truly are free.. For if there were no such CHILD OF Time Life would make us pay a most tragic price For …to find his gentle smile is what we go through Life to see…IN ONE MOMENT OF ********PEACE********

Its great songs like these that are kept alive through cherished memories as well as occasional performance that many youth of today have missed out on as to the historic importance of positive memorabilia of the past as a worthwhile extention of ourselves.

Rhapsody for Classic Film for piano and Orchestra

(just click the 'buy' option to view CD gift packaging and details) His website features more contemporary including jazz compositions and video recordings of his works. Composers Note: This is Boise's most celebrated and recent qriginal work. Rhapsody for Classic Film for Piano and Orchestra. This work was originally conceived in 1973 as a short work for solo piano. It was inspired by the 1954 romantic film classic : Rhapsody" starring the late great Elizabeth Taylor and Vittorio Gassman. The work underwent numerous bouts of revisions since then and in 2001 after the untimely death of Boise's wife after a long illness ; the work was abandoned . It wasn't until recently in late 2010 when Boise was undergoing treatment for cancer that a friend and colleague discovered an old and badly worn tape cassette of the "unfinished" piano and orchestra version of the work and urged Boise to finish it. As part of his daily "regimen of personal therapy" in keeping his mind and body in shape that was slowly deteriorating to the side effects of the cancer treatment; Boise undertook the final revisions of the rhapsody which is credited to having played a significant role in saving his life. Throughout the pain, the weight loss, the sickness and the mental impairment Boise went to work from Jan.27 to March 30,2011 feverishly working on the piano and orchestration needed to finish a work that was started some thirty eight years ago. Upon Boise's successful recovery and return home in April,2011; Rhapsody for Classic Film was completed and with Boise at the piano; its debut performance given that following July 10,2011 at Steiner Pavilion in Waukegan, IL. This was a tribute concert to Mark McCloud ,co-owner of Family Piano Co. who had recently passed away. The CD recording was done on August 28,2011 at Family Piano performance arena in Waukegan, involving members of the "Green Town" Orchestra and AFS Digital Media Services. The recording was done using a blend of both acoustic and digital instrumentation . The piano used by Boise Queen was a newly purchased $ 100,000 "Sauter" Concert Grand piano. This work presented in memory to the children at "Newtown Conn" and also most recently to the victims and the families of the "Boston Marathon" tradgedy.
