Episode 15: 2025 Annual Meeting Preview
Join JT and Jody as they preview the 2025 SBC Annual Meeting in Dallas which is coming up June 10-11. While the intent was to discuss the Annual Meeting in general, they ended up chasing a few squirrels sharing their thoughts on topics which may, or may not, be brought up at the annual meeting including financial transparency and the possibility of a ‘new’ Law Amendment type of motion being presented. But before diving into all things Annual Meeting, includingwhat everyone seems to be calling it now, JT shares the titles of the three books he referenced in episode 14 as most useful in his sermon prep, which are:The Bible Exposition Commentary (Pentateuch: Genesis –Deuteronomy) by Warren W WiersbeDeuteronomy: A Favored Book of Jesus by Bernard Schneider Notes on Deuteronomy (Vol 1) by CH MacKintosh If you’ll be in Dallas this year for the Annual Meeting, keepan eye out for they guys and feel free to stop they to say hello and share your favorite Biblical dad joke with them.

Episode 14: Sermon Discussion
Join JT and Jody as they discuss what JT's first sermon in this episode. Thankfully the plan all along was for JT to be the focus of the show since Jody was still getting his voice back at the time of recording. If you haven’t listened to the sermon yet, be sure to goback and listen to episode 13 of the podcast. Thanks to all the loyal Knotheads who have been waiting for and asking about the next episode. Hopefully things are starting to slow down enough for the guys to get together and record more often now. You’ll notice the episode ends abruptly without any farewells from JT and Jody, and that’s because the memory card filled up, but it couldn’t have stopped at a more appropriate place if we’d planned it. Thanks for listening, following, liking, and sharing!

Episode 11: Going Casual
JT and Jody weren't able to get together in person to record for a plethora of reasons. The decision was made to go ahead and test out our remote recording options and see how it panned out, which you can be the judge of for yourself. Thanks to not knowing if the lag and audio issues allowed JT's Sund'y Funny to be recorded, you'll get one from both of the guys this week, meaning you can impress two friends, or make twice the impression on one of your friends.Wanting to include something in every episode to help you Biblically navigate a secular world, the focus of the episode lies in describing the weekly basketball fellowship our church hosts and how it, or similar activities, offer the opportunity to introduce new men to teaching and leading Bible studies.Give it a listen, and if don't forget to comment with your best 'bad lip reading' for when the lag kicked in on JT.

Episode 7: Bible in a Year Learnings
Join JT and Jody as they discuss some of the notes they’ve taken during their Bible in a Year (As it Happened) daily readings since their last recording session. They decided to test out dedicating an entire episode to this type of theological discussion because they wanted to offer episodes dedicated to Biblical teaching and to help keep somewhat up to date with those following the same reading plan. Depending on how things pan out you can expect this type of episode every few weeks as we share some of our learnings from the daily readings of the Bible in a Year plan we are following. As always, we would love for you to email us with any topicsyou’d like to hear covered on the Bow Tie Baptists Podcast and leave us some feedback about what you’re learning as you read through the Bible in a year.

Episode 5: Bellview RAs (Part 1)
Join us as we continue our discussion about the Royal Ambassadors program in episode 5 of the Bow Tie Baptists Podcast. This week, we transition from the program and its history at a national, and even international level, to how we have structured the program to be the most impactful for the boys at our church in South Carolina. We decided to break this episode into two parts. In part 1 we talk about how we got involved, obstacles we overcame early on in leading RAs at our church, and begin sharing the timeline of a typical Wednesday night RA session end part 1 with our discussion about prayer and why we put so much emphasis on it in our weekly meetings. Reach out to us if there’s anything you’d like to know more about how we operate our RA group at [email protected]

Episode 4 | Ambassadors for Christ
Join JT and Jody as they share the story of the Southern Baptist Convention's Royal Ambassadors program. They discuss what the program looks like now and some of the changes over it's 116 year history which has allowed it to effectively teach boys about missions since 1908. If you want to learn more about RAs, see current resources, or pursue establishing a group at your church, you can find that information, and more, by going to www.wmu.com/ra. The majority of the history Jody shared throughout the episode was sourced from a downloadable PDF which you can find under the resources tab at ga-ra.org. CORRECTION: Since recording this episode, the National WMU announced on January 28 their board approved the Royal Ambassadors be the missions discipleship group for boys in grades 1-12. This decision moves the Challengers program (grades 7-12) under the broader RA umbrella.

We also spend a few minutes talking about an article we shared on X from The Baptist Courier, which is very enlightening as to why it's beneficial to read through the Bible. You can find that article here. Follow our social media accounts as we share the daily reading's from the Bible in a Year we are working through.
