BYU-Idaho Disciple Journeys

Kaelin Wills is a BYU-Idaho student from Johannesburg, South Africa. He says God guided him to meet his wife at a Church young single adult convention. At the time of the interview, he worked at BYU-Idaho Radio and had a baby on the way.

Kendra Baguley is a mother of four who has returned to BYU-Idaho to study English Education. Her husband slipped and broke his neck soon after she returned to school. As he recovers, she's preparing to provide for her family of six. She says she's grateful for teachers at BYU-Idaho who can help guide her in all aspects of her life.

Jason Reeder is the chair of the Department of Communication at BYU-Idaho. He previously worked in multiple marketing roles on campus before becoming a full-time faculty member. He says that in his classroom he tries to create a culture where students can become disciples of Jesus Christ.

Matthew Maroon is the chair of the Department of Marketing at BYU-Idaho. Before becoming a teacher at the university he worked for Nielsen Media Ratings and Microsoft. He says he found opportunities to stand out from the crowd because of his education at BYU-Idaho and because he remembered he's a disciple of Jesus Christ and a son of God.

Mike Sessions teaches in the Design and Construction Management Department at BYU-Idaho and is a stake patriarch for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through his experiences in the classroom and as a patriarch he has grown a testimony of how well the Lord knows each of us, including the students at BYU-Idaho.

Dale Sturm teaches religion at BYU-Idaho and has done so for more than 20 years. Before coming to BYU-Idaho, he worked at the Institute of Religion for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the University of Utah and also worked for the Church making videos. He also served during the COVID-19 pandemic as a mission president of the Iowa, Iowa City Mission. He says BYU-Idaho is a blessed place where students can become better disciples of Jesus Christ.

Chase Rockwood is a BYU-Idaho alumnus who has returned to BYU-Idaho after teaching seminary for 10 years for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He says his experience at BYU-Idaho put him on the path of religious education and is now working in his dream job teaching religion at his alma mater.

Aubrey Christensen Hale is a BYU-Idaho alumna. She says her attendance at the university helped her excel spiritually and academically due to being surrounded by people with similar values and her interactions with influential professors. She attributes her experience at BYU-Idaho with helping her become a better person.

Allison Leeks is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Canada who learned about the Church through a high school friend. After joining the Church, she went on a mission and eventually came to BYU-Idaho where she is a freshman. She says she's noticed a big difference in BYU-Idaho and her previous university experience in Canada.

Paula Dillingham is a recent convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she has struggled with drugs and with mental health. When she moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho she met missionaries for the Church and was baptized in 2022. She is now a student at BYU-Idaho studying recreational management. Chad Bell is a BYU-Idaho senior studying computer science. He grew up in Ohio and felt God lead him to attend BYU-Idaho. He says he has received many leadership opportunities that allow him to lift and encourage others, the way a disciple leader is meant to do.

Vanessa Perez-Perez is a BYU-Idaho student who joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager. A co-worker's example helped her investigate the Church and decide to be baptized. She later turned down a full-ride scholarship to a Catholic university to come to BYU-Idaho.

Primrose Kambamura is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Zimbabwe. She shares her story of how she joined the Church and how she decided to come to BYU-Idaho to study communication.

Audrey Fowles is BYU-Idaho student who is studying communication. She planned to study at another university but decided to attend BYU-Idaho because it was closer to mountains. As a student she's been able to intern with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington, D.C. where she helped to build relationships with ambassadors. She has also volunteered wit the International Religious Freedom Summit.

John McSwain joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a child, but his family became inactive. As an adult, he refound the Church and found his way to BYU-Idaho.
