    Expanding Social Media Reach Beyond Facebook

    Twitter: This one seems a bit obvious, as Twitter has become the 3nd Largest Social Media site on the web. Tweeting is at an all time high for popularity among the 25 and under demographic. This is a convenient way to get a quick blast if information sent out to your audience. Consider creating a hashtag that revolves around your brand to help track how many people are posting about your brand. Twitter has also recently acquired Periscope, a live streaming app, which can be setup and run during events at your store to engage your online audience in the fun, and drive future attendance. YouTube: This should be the immediate choice for sharing video content with the world. From uploading footage from your events, to unboxing videos, YouTube is a fantastic resource. With over a Billion users regularly interacting with YouTube, the potential for new audiences and fans is high. Find your niche for your video content that will make you stand out among your competition. Ensure that your content is engaging, entertaining and fun. Instagram: If a picture is worth a thousand words, then look no further. Instagram has cornered the market on Photo sharing and image based social media. Stores that have adopted this channel of communication tend to find a lot of use during releases, new product highlights, and recaps of events. The benefits of adopting Instagram grow exponentially if you have a brick and mortar location for your customers to visit. Customers can take photographs of your products or your events, and associate them to your store’s locations. If that happens, this image will be associated to your store on Instagram unless you remove the tag manually. Try this for yourself the next time that you visit a restaurant. You may be astonished by how many photos are associated to placed that you go every day. Snapchat: Snapchat is the newest network on this list but has grown drastically in popularity over the last few years. With 158 million daily active users, Snapchat is an excellent place to publish your newest video content to a growing audience. Consider treating this like another live stream. If there is a tournament or event being held in your store, have a team member capturing it on SnapChat as well. All of your video clips will be combined into your “Snap Story” which contains all of your Snaps from the previous 24 hours. This can be exported and downloaded to your phone’s internal storage, where you can recycle this content for use on other platforms. Reddit: Known as “The front page to the Internet”, Reddit has become the #7 most viewed website in the United States, and the #22 most viewed website in the world. 542 monthly visitors visit Reddit to discover, learn, comment and share. No matter what industry your store caters to, you can bet that there are many sub-Reddits revolving around it. Finding a community that may be interested in your products, mission, or content can be easier than most other social media platforms. If your store is completely revolutionary and a sub-Reddit doesn’t exist for your market, fear not! You can create one! From here it is simple to create a dialogue with Users and potential fans, and find out what matters to them.

    Market pricing, Batch updates, and weekend Support team

    If my credit card declines 3 times, I get locked out of my admin. What do I do if I get locked out over the weekend? Nick: With weekend support, you will now be able to call into a representative who can update your credit card on file. We understand that this is an annoyance and it is very time consuming for business owners, whose time is very precious, so we are looking for ways for you to update your card on file via the admin Darren: Now, if that happens on a Saturday or a Sunday, I am available via Live Chat, CrystalMembers and Email throughout the weekend from 9-5 PST. Contact me through any of those channels and I will be happy to get you unlocked and get this resolved. Do you currently have a schedule in place for deployments? David: You don't want to schedule deployments. If you are holding back new code that can fix a bug or can present a new feature, you shouldn't schedule that deployment. 2 or 3 years ago if you asked somebody "When do you deploy?" the might say "Once every month" or "Once every 2 months" but what happens is you get all of these changes built up into one giant deploy and the interdependencies between different parts of our code make it so that if one thing goes wrong with that deploy it is extremely difficult to understand what went wrong. So no, we definitely do not schedule deployments. What we want is as many deploys as necessary once a product is ready to be released or a feature is ready to be released, or a bug is ready to be fixed. It should be deployed immediately, and that keeps the complexity of the deploy down and makes it much easier to find out if something went wrong with the deploy and we can be more agile with the process. Uploading images is sometimes spotty lately in Safari and Chrome. A dead image link appears. Why is this? Paul: The was an issue recently with Transloadit, which is the service we use for image uploads, as well as Amazon Web Services S3, which was down earlier this week and caused a lot of problems all over the web. In general, if you are having issues with uploading images it may be due to Transloadit. We tend to see more issues within Chrome than Firefox. Most times if a dead image link appears, waiting 5 minutes will resolve the issue. In general, Firefox is the most reliable browser to use. I have heard Dan mention POS v4 in previous videos. When can we expect this to be rolled out? David: POS v4 will be demoed at the GAMA Trade Show this year. Dan: That should be coming in the next few weeks to a month. We may have something available sooner to people who really want to get their hands on it. The thing that I am most excited about, is that it is the first major application built off of the new CrystalAPI. This will allow it to be much more functional and much better integrated into the platform. It will be faster. It will be more capable. It will unlock new functionality that wasn't previously possible. My Live Chat window closes after 15 minutes of inactivity. So frustrating. What can be done about this? Jerad: The live chat window changed about a year ago, and that was mostly so that we could capture better information for us on issues that come up on a given day. So, the way we record chats, or cases, is on a per instance basis. The problem was that people would leave chat open all day long, with many issues, which looked like one instance in our reporting. That is why we changed the inactivity amount. We want to make sure that you get transcripts of your chat, so we are looking into ways to improve the live chat in the near future. Nick: First off I want to apologize for that inconvenience. That was not what we intended. We are currently looking for a way to have that changed so that that transcript gets emailed to you directly.
