34. It Matters Who Your Friends Are
Who we allow close to us shapes our thinking, our habits, our healing, and even our future. Some relationships strengthen our faith and call us higher… others quietly pull us away from purpose. In this episode, we explore the power of friendship through the stories of David & Jonathan, as well as other powerful moments of faith and friendship. Join us as we evaluate the voices influencing our hearts and minds. We believe you'll be encouraged as we navigate discernment and courage to walk in favor and in truth. Scriptures 1 Samuel 18 (David & Jonathan friendship) Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 — “Two are better than one…” Mark 2:1-12 — The paralytic lowered through the roof Matthew (parallel account of the paralytic) Luke (parallel account of the paralytic) Proverbs 12:26 — “The righteous choose their friends carefully.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 — “Bad company corrupts good character.” Proverbs 13:20 — “Walk with the wise and become wise…” John 15:15 — “I no longer call you servants… I have called you friends.” Check us out here: Instagram: @ChoosingFreedomPodcast Facebook: Choosing Freedom Podcast Reach out: [email protected]

33. Breaking Free from the Lies We Live
What are the three most common thoughts you think about yourself? No polished answers. Just the thoughts that quietly repeat… day after day… shaping how you see yourself, your life, and even what you believe God can do in your life. In this reflective episode, we start with a simple but powerful question. One that has the potential to uncover the belief systems many of us have been living under for years without even realizing it. Because the truth is…the thoughts you don’t challenge will eventually define you. With both compassion and clarity, we walk through how to begin breaking free from these patterns, not by ignoring them, but by confronting them with truth. 32. Vulnerable Conversations
In this episode, we’re having honest conversations about the negative thought patterns we carry but rarely say out loud, and how those hidden struggles can keep us feeling isolated, ashamed, or stuck. Through real stories, anonymous confessions, and biblical truth, we’re reminded that the enemy delights in darkness, but healing begins when we bring things into the light and link arms with one another. We talk about how sharing our story isn’t about focusing on our brokenness, but about pointing to the restoration God is working in us. When we stop pretending everything is fine and start having raw, real conversations, we create space for freedom. Not just freedom for ourselves, but for the people around us. God can use your imperfect story and your healing to lead someone else toward theirs. 31. Pressed But Not Crushed
Pressure has a way of revealing what's truly inside of us. The aftermath of an ice storm sparks a reflection on the things we allow to take up space in our hearts and minds. This is an invitation to ask hard questions, surrender what no longer serves you, and intentionally make room for the most important things. 30. Who Do You Want to Become: Choosing Purpose Over Performance
If you’ve ever felt stuck between who you are and who you sense God is calling you to be, then this conversation is for you. What if walking in your identity isn’t based on doing more… but on becoming more? Not through achievements or unrealistic expectations…but by the renewing of our minds with the truth found in scripture. God’s calling on our lives isn’t a call to perfection. It’s tethered to our obedience to seek an honest relationship with Him, one small step at a time. Purpose over performance. You were never meant to earn your identity. You were meant to become who God already designed you to be. Join us in this episode, as we examine a street-level view of how we navigated 2025--sometimes bravely…sometimes reluctantly. And moments when we won the day! How has God led you out of your comfort zone? Revealed new things to you? How has He challenged you? Healed you? Restored you? Called you to be more? We will take a glimpse into some of the topics of 2025 and end with a challenge of choice. 27. Slave to Nothing
What if the real battlefield isn’t the chaos around us, but the one in our minds? We often find ourselves standing in the middle of spiritual crossfire... Feeling unprepared, overwhelmed, and anxious. But scripture reminds us that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. We have the choice to put on the armor God has given us, pick up the weapons of truth and step forward not just to survive, but to thrive. Join us, as we take an honest look at the mindsets and belief patterns that quietly enslave us and learn what it truly means to walk in freedom. 26. When God Doesn’t Make Sense
In this episode, we talk honestly about those moments in life when God doesn’t seem to make sense. We’ve all faced times when our prayers seem unanswered and hope seems out of reach. What is God thinking? Why doesn’t He intervene? Why does He sometimes seem silent? Scripture tells us that God welcomes our questions. Join us as we follow an old testament prophet who wasn’t afraid to ask God “why”. He wasn’t afraid to ask the hard questions. And what he found, is that not only is God willing to engage in these “conversations” with us, but meets us with open arms and brings discernment, peace and hope into our chaos and frustration. 25. The Battle in Our Minds: Perceived Truth vs. God’s Truth
In this episode, we’re talking about perceived truth vs. God’s truth. We are getting real about the voices in our heads. The ones that tell us we’re not enough, unworthy, or unqualified, and we are bringing them face to face with the voice of truth. Together, we’ll unpack how manipulative lies sneak into our thinking and attempt to shape our identity. God’s Word calls us out of that pit and into freedom! He never intended for us to live in bondage. I’ll share my own journey as a recovering people-pleaser and how I discovered the life-changing power and authority (found in scripture) to take every thought captive! Join us for a raw, vulnerable discussion that sheds light on thoughts we should not keep hidden. The truth is: Your life is not random… Your days have been ordained. Written with intention, purpose and promise! 23. MADE FOR MORE: Living Free, Loved, and On Purpose (Part 1)
Welcome to part one of MADE FOR MORE. We're going to open up about the hidden struggles we often carry: The pressure to perform. The fear of rejection. The ache of unmet dreams. The exhaustion of constantly trying to be “enough." Maybe you’re carrying the weight of your past or silently battling insecurity. Maybe the shame, the need to prove yourself, or the fear of never measuring up is louder than the truth God speaks over you. Together, we examine John 10:10, where Jesus doesn’t just promise life, but life in abundance. That means purpose, belonging, peace, and healing. You’ll be reminded that: Freedom doesn’t come from fixing yourself; it comes from surrender. Your past may shape you, but it does not define you. God is not waiting for you to “get it together”; He’s waiting for you to be honest with Him. This episode will challenge you to ask insightful, growth-producing questions in your walk with God and to bring your truest thoughts, emotions, and fears to Him. He’s not intimidated by your doubt. He’s not surprised by your struggles. And He’s never stopped calling you by your name. Because YOU are made for more. 22. What's Your Coffee Shop Name?
Ever felt like the name you carry, out loud or just in your heart, doesn’t match who God says you are? Let's explore what it means to be seen, named, and fully known by God. A simple coffee shop moment will take us into a deeper conversation about identity, grace, and the beautiful reminder from Acts 10:15: “Do not call anything unclean that God has made clean.” Through scripture, storytelling, and a different perspective on prayer, we hope you are encouraged to: Replace self-imposed labels with truth. Make space for prayer in even the busiest of days. Walk in the freedom of your God-given identity. Recognize how your story, no matter how messy, is part of a testimony God is redeeming. You are welcome here…You are seen… And you are called by a name that brings freedom. 21. A Story of Redemption, Identity & Unshakable Hope
If you’ve ever wondered whether your past disqualifies you from living in freedom or being used by God, this episode is for you. Join us as we discuss the extraordinary, deeply moving story of the life of Mary Magdalene. We will examine what scripture tells us about her encounter with Jesus and the beautiful transformation that took place from that moment forward. We reflect on the pain, shame, and spiritual battles she must have endured—and how her life was radically changed by the compassion of Jesus. Together, we’ll explore: The redemptive power of Jesus to completely restore what was once broken. Why our identity is not defined by what we’ve done, but by who He says we are. How Mary went from being tormented and cast aside… to being the first witness of the resurrection...the one entrusted with the greatest news ever told. What it means to sever ourselves from past shame and step into purpose, even when we feel unworthy. There’s no depth too dark, no past too heavy, and no pain too consuming that Jesus cannot redeem. 20. NO SHAME on You!
Shame can feel overwhelming, making us believe we are unworthy of love or too broken to be redeemed. But Jesus sees us in our pain and meets us with endless compassion. He didn’t come to condemn but to restore, offering forgiveness and grace no matter our past. The enemy tries to whisper lies—that we are too far gone, that God could never truly love us. But the truth is, Jesus calls us beloved, redeemed, and made new. In Him, shame is replaced with freedom, and every lie is silenced by His truth: we are deeply loved and forever His. Join us as we examine the crippling grip of shame and the overwhelming freedom available to each one of us. 10. Prayer (Part 2): Confession to Freedom—The Ultimate Rescue
In part two of this series, we are on a journey to honestly examine our approach to the topic of confession. What makes confession seem so daunting? How does our perception of God impact the effectiveness of our prayers? What does research say about how our approach to prayer affects our mental health? How can we begin to see confession as a form of “rescue”? Christ died to set us free from the lies we have believed about ourselves and about God. He came to break bondages and bring us into close relationship with Him. Confession wasn’t meant to be condemning. It purifies our hearts and rescues us from defeat and shame.
