Coffee With Dad

There’s something about conversations over coffee. You go on your first dates at coffee shops, you have meetings over coffee, book clubs, meet-ups, corporate meetings, serious conversations, etc. You have all sorts of conversations over coffee. There’s also something about fatherly wisdom and going to your dad when you need help. Parenting Forces Us to Confront the Worst of Ourselves

In his book "Sacred Parenting" Gary Thomas says, "Parenting will lead us to confront spiritual sins that we never knew existed. It will point out inner weaknesses that we saw as strengths." For me, it was a plethora of things such as anger, pride, and selfishness. It's easy to put to death the flesh and old self when we're in tip top shape. It's another thing when you're running on 3 hours of sleep. What are some of the biblical principals that we can hold on to in the wee hours of the night or when we've been trying to feed our child for over an hour? Parenting will never be easy, no matter which stage you're in. However, God has given us wisdom and promises to guide us on our journey. After all, He's already said that He will never give us anything we can't handle. So, grab a cup of coffee and join me in this conversation (or monologue!) about confronting the worst of ourselves. Ever been mad at a 6-month old? You're not alone!
