Don't Set Goals, Reflect and Become a Confident Creator

Don’t Set Goals, Reflect and Become a Confident Creator At the beginning of the year, we are constantly bombarded with “NEW YEAR, NEW YOU” bullshit. The second we turn the calendar to a new page, we feel pressured to overhaul our lives. We’re encouraged to set lofty goals, restrict ourselves, and follow someone else’s plan on how we can become our “best self.” This episode isn’t just a middle finger to this ideology (although in a way it is), it’s a reminder that we’re still in the dead of winter… and setting goals for what you want to do, without being clear on who you want to be, will leave you feeling lost and disappointed year-round. Today’s episode is created as guidance to help you reflect on the past year and intentionally create the life and artwork you desire. I have several questions and exercises that aren’t about HOW to perform, but instead how to listen to yourself, how you feel, and the impact that you want to create. I’m also sharing some of my own reflections, transitions, and desires to help inspire you to dream as big as you can!On this episode, we talk about:Giving yourself permission to celebrate your wins and treat your losses with comparisonLetting old goals and dreams go to make room for the next version of yourselfThe questions you can ask yourself to create clarity on who you want to becomeThe importance of grounding in your identity before trying to develop an action plan ❤️‍🔥Need more guidance? Structure Sparks Creativity

Structure Sparks Creativity I used to be terrified of structure. Any type of system or routine made me feel trapped… until I realized the power of being organized. Systems allow us to create within a container. They give us direction, a map to where our creativity can flow freely. This episode is an exploration of why structure is important - even for the Type B creative types! We’ll talk about why you might feel adverse to it, how to overcome the overwhelm, and what steps you can take to add some structure to your creative practice, projects, and social media content. On this episode we talk about:Why structure keeps you movingHow having a lack of systems fosters overwhelm, not focusOvercoming decision paralysisCombining the power of action and discipline with systems so you can create confidently and freelyHow I use structure within my creative practice  ❤️‍🔥Need more guidance? Stop Looking for the Answers Outside of Yourself | Voice Note Series 004 We are back with Season 3! And starting off strong with a reminder that you have all the answers you need. In a world where we can easily ask the internet or strangers around the world for the blueprint on how to get to where we want or have what we desire, we start to drown the voice of our inner knowing. We forget in a world of overconsumption that often the answers that are truly aligned with us, can all be found within. This is gentle encouragement to quiet the noise and let your inner cheerleader show you the way forward. We talk about:The trap of consuming over creatingWhy we look outside ourselves for the path towards our goalsBalancing using resources and listening to our inner voiceAllowing ourselves to be quiet and listen for the next stepTrusting that our path will appear if we keep moving forward ❤️‍🔥Need more guidance? Focus on Joy and Unlock Your Best Work Joy is the “good mood of the soul” (Brene Brown) and it allows you to become more of yourself. Alchemize Anger: How You Can Work With The Energy of Rage to Take Big, Aligned Action This is not an episode for the demure and cutesy. This is for those that feel the pulse of anger underneath the surface, and do not know how to let it out. You have been told most of your life to keep quiet. To stand in line, do as you're told, and never ever raise your voice. But your rage is righteous and deserves to be heard. In this week’s episode, we explore the emotion of anger and how to use its energy to take action and create art that allows us to move through these feelings. We discuss how anger is an emotion of movement and communication, and when left unexpressed, we’re generally left feeling weak, unheard, exhausted, and sick. We also share exercises to express your anger in a healthy way, allow other emotions to rise, and to alchemize all of it into art that feels like an authentic expression of your internal world. If you are seeking a permission slip to rage, look no further. We talk about:What it feels like when we do not let our anger outHow we can channel anger using different forms of art and movementUsing art as a way to feel what is hidden underneath the layers of rageHealthy ways to reflect so you can move forward and not carry anger with you ❤️‍🔥Follow our new SUBSTACK! Get Your Groove Back: How to Start Again After a Slump In today's episode, we are talking about getting back into your creative flow after taking a break. There will inevitably be times in life when you cannot visit your creative practice daily, or even weekly. But what about months? Or years? What happens when an intentional break turns into a slump: a time when you are not regularly creating, but in your heart you long to do so. During the slump, it can feel like we’re at war with ourselves. You’re constantly cycling through excuses in your head: “it’s been too long”, “I’m no good”, “ I just don’t have it”. By the end of this episode, you will have a better understanding of how you got to this place, what questions to ask yourself to get into action, and how to use the momentum of a practice session to get you back into regularly creating! We talk about:How to identify if you are “in a slump”What to do once you build awareness around your current state (when you recognize it’s been weeks or months since you practiced)The inner work that will change the way you approach your creative practiceViewing your practice as a self-love ritual, not a choreCommitting to nurturing your creative practiceHow to be intentional about your practice (a sustainable way to make the promise to yourself to create!) ✒️ Want to learn calligraphy with me?Download the Free Starter Guide to Modern Calligraphy.Check out my Ultimate Supplies Guide for Beginners.Use the code "PODCAST" for 22% off my online introductory course. 🎨  Discounts + Referrals to My Fav Resources and SuppliesUse code ARIELLEABASHA for 15% off your order when you spend $20 or more at chartpakstore.comShop calligraphy supplies at Paper & Ink Arts!
