Fill Your Vessel: Waiting, Oil, and the Heart (Matthew 25–28). S3. E5.
Season 3, Episode 5.Fill Your Vessel: Waiting, Oil, and the Heart (Matthew 25–28)Date: October 17, 2025Duration: 49:05 minutesHosts: Brigette Heller, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley WardEpisode Summary:As we wrap up Matthew, the conversation moves from parables to passion: the ten virgins and the talents, the call to active, intimate discipleship, and the Savior’s anguish in Gethsemane. The hosts unpack the difference between regret and repentance (Judas vs. Peter), the danger of spiritual depletion, and the hope of the Resurrection—“as they went, Jesus met them.” The episode closes with comfort from the hymn His Eye Is on the Sparrow and an invitation to seek Christ daily.Key Points Covered:Ten Virgins (Matthew 25):“Vessels vs. lamps”—we are the vessel; the oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit.“Tarry” explored: vigilant responsibility vs. quiet waiting; waiting is active, not passive.Boundaries are biblical: you can’t borrow someone else’s oil; guard your spiritual reserves.Talents (Matthew 25):Active waiting = investing what God gives; perception of the Master shapes our action.“Enter into the joy of thy Lord” emphasizes intimacy and ownership—your Lord.Serve from overflow, not depletion; multiply gifts to bless others.Gethsemane (Matthew 26):The Savior’s humanity and anguish—“Could you not watch with me one hour?”Following Jesus can involve pain; intimacy is cultivated in honest surrender.Peter vs. Judas (Matthew 26–27):Peter’s denial leads to restoration (“Do you love me?”); Judas’s remorse lacks true turning to Christ.Difference between regret and repentance: returning the silver isn’t reconciliation—coming to Jesus is.Mob Mentality & Fear (Matthew 27):Fear of change fuels crowds; “His blood be on us” paradoxically names the very blessing we all need.Resurrection Hope (Matthew 28):“As they went, Jesus met them” - seek Him and He meets you on the way.Daily practice: wake up with prayer and the Word; experiment upon the Word and notice the difference.Hymn Reflection:His Eye Is on the Sparrow - assurance that Jesus is our portion and He watches over us.Keep your vessel filled - meet with God daily.Waiting on God is active: prepare, invest, cultivate intimacy.Healthy boundaries protect your lamp; serve others from overflow.True repentance turns to Jesus Himself; He restores. If you seek Him, He will meet you.Links and Resources:Matthew 25–28 (KJV) - King James Version (KJV) BibleThe Chosen (TV Series) – https://watch.thechosen.tv/Hymn: “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” Connect with Connected in Christ:Website: Coming SoonSocial Media:FacebookInstagram: @connectedinchristpodcastSupport the Show:If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account: [email protected] to Action:Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, and follow us on social media.Acknowledgements:Thank you so much for listening—we pray this conversation brought you closer to Christ!

Surrender, Calling, and Kingdom Fruit (Matthew 19–24). S3. E4.
Season 3, Episode 4. Surrender, Calling, and Kingdom Fruit (Matthew 19–24). Date: October 17, 2025Duration: 43:16 minutesHosts: Brigette Heller, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley WardCovering Matthew 19–24, the hosts wrestle with Jesus’ teaching on marriage, singleness, and the heart behind divorce; the rich young ruler’s call to surrender; the vineyard wages and God’s generosity; servant-leadership (not status) in the Kingdom; the triumphal entry and “Hosanna - save us”; the fruitless fig tree; the great feast; the greatest commandment; warnings to religious hypocrites; and the call to watchfulness in the last days.Key Points Covered:Marriage, Divorce, Singleness (Matt. 19:1–12)Marriage and singleness are callings to oneness with God; both require surrender.“Hardness of heart” explains Mosaic concessions on divorce; idolatry of marriage is a danger.Practical lens: put God first - without that, marriage (or singleness) falters. The Rich Young Ruler (19:16–22)The humble prayer: “What lack I yet?” Surrender exposes the one thing we cling to.Blessing the Children (19:13–15)Kingdom posture = childlike dependence and openness.Vineyard Wages (20:1–16)God’s generosity offends entitlement; focus on the Giver, not comparisons.Doing vs. being: quality (with God) over quantity (for God).Servant Leadership & Zebedee’s Sons (20:20–28)Greatness = serving and suffering, not titles and thrones; roles are the Father’s to assign.“Hosanna” & the Triumphal Entry (21:1–11)“Hosanna” means “Save us.” Praise and plea meet in true worship.Fig Tree & Fruit (21:18–22)Looking the part isn’t fruit; faith + obedience bears Kingdom fruit. Two Sons / Tenants / Great Feast (21:28–32; 21:33–46; 22:1–14)Saying “yes” without doing isn’t obedience; refusal shifts the Kingdom invitation to responsive hearts. Many are called, few are chosen - response matters.Greatest Commandment (22:34–40)Love God with all your heart, soul, mind; love neighbor as yourself—Kingdom center of gravity.Woes & Hypocrisy (ch. 23)Individuality in God leads to oneness; performative religion divides and withers.Watching for His Coming (24:36–44)Live awake and ready; trust Christ amid uncertainty.Takeaways:Keep asking “What do I lack?” - and obey the answer.Don’t idolize roles (marriage, leadership); seek oneness with God first.Celebrate God’s generosity; drop comparisons.True leadership serves. True faith bears fruit.Praise Jesus with a sincere “Hosanna—save us.” Live watchful and ready.Mentioned Links/Resources:Matthew 19–24 (KJV) - King James Version (KJV) BibleParables referenced – vineyard workers, two sons, tenants, great feast Connect with Connected in Christ:Website: Coming SoonSocial Media:FacebookInstagram: @connectedinchristpodcastCall to Action:Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, and follow us on social media.Support the Show:If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account: [email protected]:Thank you so much for listening—we pray this conversation brought you closer to Christ!

Open Hearts, Real Loss, and True Discipleship (Matthew 13–18). S3. E3.
Season 3, Episode 3. Open Hearts, Real Loss, and True Discipleship (Matthew 13–18)Date: October 17, 2025Duration: 36:45 minutesHosts: Brigette Heller, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley WardEpisode Summary:In Matthew 13–18 the hosts trace a through-line from heart posture to holy living: why Jesus teaches in parables, how the heart receives (or resists) the Word, walking with God through grief, and learning to let Him separate wheat from weeds. They unpack what truly defiles, faith that perseveres (the Canaanite mother), taking up the cross, and becoming childlike to be found by the Good Shepherd.Key Points Covered:Parables & the Heart (Matt. 13)Jesus waits; seekers come. Parables reveal to open, teachable hearts and mercifully veil truth from closed ones.Parable of the Sower: paths (no understanding), stony ground (offended under pressure), thorns (worldly desires choke), good soil (hears, understands, bears fruit).Trust God’s timing with the weeds and wheat - He can separate without us uprooting everything.Loss, Reputation, and Moving Forward (Matt. 14)John the Baptist’s death: Jesus withdraws to grieve - then returns to ministry.Herod’s oath: a warning about saving face and choices driven by public image. What Truly Defiles (Matt. 15)People can honor with lips while hearts are far. It’s not what goes in but what comes out of the heart that defiles.Canaanite woman: an apparently harsh exchange becomes a test that reveals great faith and persevering hope.Signs, Surrender, and the Cross (Matt. 16)“Sign of Jonah” foreshadows the Resurrection.Jesus rebukes Peter (“Get behind me, Satan”): beware well-meaning voices that oppose God’s way.Call to deny self, take up the cross, and follow—lose life for Christ to find true life.Kingdom Greatness & Childlikeness (Matt. 18)The greatest become like children - humble, trusting, undivided.Jesus comes to save the lost; choose what (or whom) you’ll “lose yourself” to: the world or Christ.Takeaways:Keep a soft, teachable heart - understanding grows with willingness.Grieve with God; then keep walking.Let God do the separating; you do the surrendering.Distinguish testing (refines faith) from temptation (aims to destroy).True discipleship = deny self, take up the cross, follow with childlike trust.Mentioned Links:Matthew 13–18 (KJV) – King James Version (KJV) BibleWord study ideas: “Hosanna,” “Sign of Jonah,” “defile”Connect with Connected in Christ:Website: Coming SoonSocial Media:FacebookInstagram: @connectedinchristpodcastSupport the Show:If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account: [email protected] to Action:Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, and follow us on social media.Acknowledgements: Thank you so much for listening—we pray this conversation brought you closer to Christ

Joseph’s Yes, Herod’s Fear, and a Straight Path (Matthew 1–6). S3. E1.
Season 3, Episode 1Joseph’s Yes, Herod’s Fear, and a Straight Path: Matthew 1–6Date: October 17, 2025Duration: 51:41 minutesHosts: Brigette Heller, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley WardEpisode Summary:Season 3 launches with a deep dive into Matthew 1–6. The hosts explore why Matthew opens with genealogy, the quiet strength of Joseph’s “yes,” Herod’s fear-driven control, the wise men’s worship, John the Baptist’s role, and Jesus’ baptism, temptation, and early ministry. The Sermon on the Mount (ch. 5–6) calls us from ego to surrender - becoming salt and light with hearts set on the Kingdom.Key Points:Matthew 1 — Genealogy & Joseph’s CallingWhy Matthew starts with lineage: fulfilled prophecy, historical grounding, and Jesus’ title “Son of David.”Inclusion of women (e.g., Rahab) highlights God’s redemptive thread through imperfect stories.Joseph as foster/stepfather models obedience, compassion, and quiet leadership (“a just man…not willing to make her a public example”).Matthew 2 — Herod, the Wise Men, and Competing KingdomsHerod’s fear fuels manipulation and violence - control vs. surrender (contrast with Joseph obeying divine warnings).“All Jerusalem was troubled with him”: decades-long tension set the stage for Jesus’ later ministry. The Magi’s gifts were costly and symbolic (gold, frankincense, myrrh); question for listeners: What is your best to lay before Christ?Matthew 3 — John the Baptist & The Invitation“Prepare ye the way…make His paths straight” heard as a personal call: widen the path so others can walk it.John’s humility vs. Jesus’ insistence on baptism “to fulfill all righteousness”: surrender to the Father’s will even when we don’t fully understand.Matthew 4 — Temptation & AuthorityJesus is Spirit-led into the wilderness; temptation is a proving ground, not an accident.“It is written…” - respond to lies with the Word; after resistance, angels minister.Pattern of ministry: separate → prepare → be strengthened → obey immediately (calling disciples “straightway”).Matthew 5–6 — Sermon on the Mount (Heart over Ego)Beatitudes as a roadmap: purity of heart to see God; kingdom character over cultural norms.Salt & light vs. “doing deeds to be seen”: same actions, different heart posture (God’s glory vs. self-glory).“Eye single” and “no man can serve two masters”: attention directs affection; seek first the KingdomNew way of being (old law vs. “but I say”): turn the other cheek, love enemies, give/pray/fast in secret.Takeaways:Say yes like Joseph - quiet, courageous obedience can redirect generations.Fear grabs for control; surrender trusts God’s plan and timing.Bring Jesus your best—costly, wholehearted worship.Resist from the Word and expect His ministering after trial.Be salt and light from a pure heart - seek the Kingdom first.Mentioned Scriptures and Other References: Matthew 1–6 (KJV) - King James Version (KJV) BibleThe Chosen (regarding portrayals of Matthew/John) –https://watch.thechosen.tv/Mesa Easter Pageant – https://www.mesaeasterpageant.orgEmily Belle Freeman - https://www.emilybellefreeman.com/Connect with Connected in ChristWebsite: Coming SoonSocial Media:FacebookInstagram: @connectedinchristpodcastSupport the Show:If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account: [email protected] to Action:Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, and follow us on social media.Acknowledgements:Thank you so much for listening—we pray this conversation brought you closer to Christ!

Pride and Ego - S.2 Ep.13
Season 2, Episode 13 Pride Pride and Ego Date: April 09, 2024 Duration: 34:09 minutes Hosts: Brigette Heller, Elizabeth Baker, Jazzael Taylor, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley Ward Episode Summary: Pride and ego are healthy and alive as they are in all of us. It is up to us to seek Christ and release that ego and pride when it does show up by rebuking it, by handing it to the Lord and allowing him to take it. In this episode, we talk about the many ways you can begin to release pride and ego when they begin to show up in various situations. Key Points Covered: Pride and Ego often show up when we become defensive about something or someone Reflect and ask yourself, why do I feel like this? How can I heal this to move forward? Sit quietly, listen and be aware of what is making you feel this way and how can you move forward Be curious as you go into a situation that may be different Go back and study the word to help you carry verses in your heart to take the right steps and help you become teachable Mentioned Scriptures: Proverbs 16:16-25 (KJV) "How much better is it to get wisdom than gold and to get understanding rather than to be chosen than silver. The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He that keepeth his way, preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before the destruction. And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of a humble spirit with a, with lowly, then to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good and whoso trusteth in the Lord. Happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent and the sweetness of their lips increases learning. Understanding is a wellspring of life, unto him that hath it. But the instruction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words are as honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. There is a way that seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." James 1:19-20 (NIV) “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” The Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 5-7 Proverbs 11:2 "When pride comes, then comes disgrace. But with humility comes wisdom." Matthew 5:29 (KJV) “And if thy right eye offends thee, pluck it out, cast it from thee, for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Connect with Connected in Christ: - [Website] https://thestrongandcapable.com/elementor-2125/ - [Facebook] https://www.facebook.com/ConnectedinChristpodcast - [Instagram] @connectedinchristpodcast Support the Show: - If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account, [email protected] - Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, or follow us on social media. Why do we follow Christ? What happened in the garden of Gethsemane? What about the crucifixion and what do we believe individually about these things? The thought we concluded with was Jesus loves us and gives us hope in the midst of life happening. So, why is there hope? And what does this look like today? Key Points Covered: Jesus LOVES us Defining and reflecting on life as circumstances and situations vs. what God wants and needs me to see The world view vs. God’s view in how we see ourselves taking on each task Jesus is our living hope beyond every circumstance that we have measured and attributed so much value to Leaning onto our hope and faith to persevere Mentioned Scriptures and Other References: Colossians 3:1-4, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Now, when Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then ye also appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." Colossians 2:8, "Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you are also complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority." John 16:33. And Jesus says, "these things I have spoken to you that in me, you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation." He then says, “But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” Connect with Connected in Christ: - [Website] https://thestrongandcapable.com/elementor-2125/ - [Facebook] https://www.facebook.com/ConnectedinChristpodcast - [Instagram] @connectedinchristpodcast Support the Show: - If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account, [email protected] - Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, or follow us on social media. Satan Isn’t Hiding - S.2 Ep.6
Satan Isn’t Hiding Release Date: February 13, 2024 Duration: 37:24 minutes Hosts: Brigette Heller, Elizabeth Baker, Jazzael Taylor, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley Ward Episode Summary: In this episode, we're talking about how Satan is not even trying to hide anymore. We walk about discernment, choices and holding onto faith. Key Points Covered: Satan likes to try and distract us. It’s the bait and switch. Satan tries to rob us of the awareness of the truth, our identity in Christ and who Christ is. Sometimes life just happens. Why are we giving Satan power over all of the “bad things” that happen to us? Just because things are bad doesn’t make them evin. Satan is trying to get in the way of what God is doing. Your pain is real, and horror and discouragement are real - and so is God, and so is His plan. When you come to know God, you naturally repel darkness. If you want to work through the hard things in life, “the real stuff”, you need God with you. God is powerful and can cast Satan out, but not if we're kicking God out and inviting Satan Instead of looking to God for validation or feedback or to the Bible or to those that are in relationship with Him, that's where the devil's hiding and that's where the confusion starts. If you want to know Jesus, study HIS gospel. Like, wake up and study HIS word, HIS gospel. That way when the counterfeit comes, because Satan is a counterfeit. He will take what God has created and counterfeit it, or he'll try to give us options that are counterfeit to the real thing. if you just spend your time focusing on the real thing, you're going to be able to recognize the counterfeit immediately because it doesn't look real. When you find yourself saying, I need to, you're often looking at your life without Christ in it. God is asking - are you going to choose me? Discernment is knowing the difference. Discerning the will of God versus your own. It's knowing the difference in this good feeling versus this yucky feeling. It's that internal compass that helps you know where to go. You just have to hold on to the faith because that's the whole idea of Living in the world, but not of the world Mentioned Scriptures: Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever James 1 2 Corinthians 2:11 2 Timothy 1:7 Don't be afraid. God hasn't given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and soundness of mind. John 15:18 If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belong to it, but you're no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? Season 2, Episode 5 Religion and Christ Release Date: February 6, 2024 Duration: 35:31 minutes Hosts: Brigette Heller, Elizabeth Baker, Jazzael Taylor, Andrew Blackwood, Tanja Bentley Ward Episode Summary: In this episode, we're talking about religion, faith and Christ. The hosts discuss the different points of view in our connection to Jesus Christ. They also talk about the struggles with culture and Christ. Key Points Covered: Regardless of where we find ourselves and have found ourselves over the years, it is God's spirit that works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. “Whether we're talking about religion across different faiths or perceptions of who God is or within Christianity, I think it's good to define what religion actually is. I don't think there is a worldwide consensus, but to me religion is a structure or a set of beliefs, practices. Some of them are cultural, some of them are spiritual, but these are avenues for us to know God, hear God, serve Him, find Him, share Him.” -Coach Drew “Religion is run by men/women and men and women are imperfect.” -Brigette Heller “I went to him to seek answers, I realized my faith isn't in that man. My faith isn't in the organization. My faith is in Christ.” -Elizabeth Baker The scriptures tell us that we need to have faith in Christ. “Ultimately what we're all trying to do is build a better relationship with God and understand God and what the meaning of life and our purposes are.” Tanja Bentley-Ward “I am seeking the Lord, who is my savior, who I go back to when I need something.” Jazzael Taylor Church is a place to be in community and He wants us to fellowship with one another, and He wants us to reach out to one another. And we're able to do that when there's an organization created through which we can. Mentioned Scriptures: Proverb 3:5 (CSB) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding in all your ways, know him and he will make your paths straight. I thought I did this thing. Why am I here again?” - Brigette Heller “When you do restart; When you choose to give it over, there is life that comes from that. There is energy that comes from that. There's joy. All of a sudden, your burdens do become lighter than they should be, than would logically make sense. And it's that rebirth in Christ. It's beautiful. It's worth seeking.” - Brigette Heller “If you're really struggling to get through it, you just ask Him to show you and you may not get it the next time either, but restarting doesn't mean starting over. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Deuteronomy 30:20 (NIV) “and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to Him. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Key Points Covered: - “I wrote in my notes, grace and peace together because I feel like those go hand in hand. I have to allow grace to come with peace. Not everything is going to be perfect. Not everything is going to be a Hallmark movie. Not everything is going to be the way I expect it to be. But with good intention, I can show up knowing God is with me and doing this hard walk together.” Jazzael Taylor -”If you don't know how to start with the scriptures, you've got to start with the thing that's actually going to make those scriptures impact you completely, the full surrender. And that is hard. It takes courage. It takes bravery.” Brigette Heller -”But sometimes we just have to pause. And think and ponder. And for me, it comes at times when I'm just sitting there and the thought will come into my mind saying, “Give your kids your time this Christmas, give them your time.”” Elizabeth Baker -” Every day she went to that cupboard and looked in for the flour and the oil, and it didn't overflow, like the kind of abundance we want to anticipate as believers. No, it looked like there was not enough. Yet God's word says it will not run out. And essentially he's saying, I am enough for you. I am all you need. And until you understand that you are always going to be looking to someone or something else to meet your need. And it's never going to be enough.” Andrew Blackwood -”I'm in a season where I am being continuously called to look to him. And I know that in the past I'd prayed to make me a vessel and help me lead by example and help me help others, see you. And I know that he's working on me this season. I know that things are going to change. And so I just keep pressing forward and looking to him and reading my scriptures and knowing that everything is going to be okay, even though I don't know how.” Tanja Bently-Ward Mentioned Links/Resources: -John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. Disconnection - S.1 Ep.14
Connected in Christ Episode #: 14 Title: Disconnection Release Date: November 28, 2023 Duration: 48:09 Hosts: Brigette Heller, Elizabeth Baker, Jazzael Taylor, Taryn Donson, Tanja Bentley Ward Episode Summary: -What are things that put us in a place of disconnection? How do we get back to God? There are so many things that pull us from God like free will, hardships, trials, or abuse from others. Mental health is a big disconnection from God. It is so important to us to share how to get back to the main thing, God. Key Points Covered: - “The hard things that should bring us to God, often don’t because we are scared. The unknown is one of the greatest human fears.” Brigette Heller - ”Shame keeps me from God. When I can’t do something well, then I won’t do it at all. If I see myself being inadequate, then God must too. That is where shame comes in. But this isn’t the truth, God doesn’t see me as a failure, He shows me mercy. It takes God and your community of people to pull you out. I need my community to speak faith into me when I can’t do it myself. My people have to be the feet and hands of God.” Taryn Donson - ”The hardest part of disconnection is asking for help. How do you ask for help when you don’t know you need it? I’ve always said, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” Jazzael Taylor -”Our feelings are indicators. It lets us know that we need something.” Taryn Donson -”Sometimes it is overwhelming to talk to a person because you may be afraid of what you may say or of what they may say. Sometimes, you just have to bring the ladder. The ladder to extend out for help.” Tanja Bently-Ward “Keep an eye out and see where you can give a hand.” Elizabeth Baker Resources: Footprints in the Sand One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one. During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of footprints, so I said, "You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you." -Organization: Your Living Proof by Danny Deaton: “The cure for addiction is connection and knowing that our secrets make us sick.” https://www.yourlivingproof.com/free-masterclass?utm_source=GoogleAds&utm_medium=Search&utm_campaign=Branded_Terms&utm_term=your+living+proof -The Strong and Capable: https://thestrongandcapable.com/ -NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness: https://www.nami.org/Home Connect with Connected in Christ:: - Website: Coming Soon - Social Media: - [Facebook] https://www.facebook.com/ConnectedinChristpodcast - [Instagram] @connectedinchristpodcast Support the Show: - If you would like to support the podcast you can donate to our PayPal account, [email protected] Please subscribe, leave a review, share the episode, or follow us on social media. Putting on the Armor of God S.1 E.13
Connected in Christ Episode #: S.1 Ep. 13 Title: Armor Release Date: Nov. 21, 2023 Duration: 43:23 Hosts: Brigette Heller, Elizabeth Baker, Jazzael Taylor, Taryn Donson, Tanja Bentley Ward Key Points Covered: 📍 So protecting your heart doesn't mean hiding your heart or putting a wall up around it-I think it's learning and understanding the boundaries and discernment and understanding that vulnerable, being vulnerable means shining your light, but not putting a wall up around the light. And that's, that's a really hard practice, um, because you do feel more, and I probably have cried more in the last seven years through this process than most of my life because feeling your feelings. - Tanja 📍 And I was, when I was thinking about this, I just feel so strongly to remind us that it doesn't matter what weapon Satan has used against us, this, the wounds that come from those weapons can and will be healed by the savior Jesus Christ because of his atonement and it's our faith. In Christ and in his atonement, that allows us to access that atonement and access that healing. So if you are somebody that feels that they have let in just way too many darts or whatever weapon you wanna say, I wanna tell you that there's always hope, there's always healing because we will always have our savior.- Elizabeth 📍 And so I said, ok, what does that, I asked myself, what does it look like to guard my heart? And, um, to guard my heart means that I'm gonna be careful in what I'm putting in my body. I'm gonna be careful what I'm listening to. I'm gonna be careful who I surround myself with. Because all of that influences us. And so, um, if I am listening to a certain type of music or watching shows, that kind of goes against what I believe then you tend to lean on that and you tend to like it sneaks in and that's where Satan comes in and is like poking and poking. And so to guard my heart, I really have to be intentional with what I surround myself with.- Jazzael 📍 It's important to remember that the devil is a liar. Like he actively seeks to deceive us. And it's really, really important to know the truth because it's the truth that'll set us free. So having that in mind. I just realized how important it's to constantly be rooted in the word and to be just like we had an episode on studying the Bible. This is why it's important, guys. We have to have active weapons to fight with.- Taryn 📍 Whenever I think about honest prayer, I always just think about me and my own kids when my kids are hiding something from me, I know it. I know it. And a lot of times I'm just waiting for them to finally say, yeah mom, I'm struggling with this. Or Yeah, mom, I'm angry about this.Right? I'm just waiting. Cause I know that eventually they have to tell me, or eventually I'm gonna have to say, guess what? I know. I know. So let's talk about this. And I think that is so often our relationship with God we're like, well, I can't tell him. He knows. He already knows. So we're so silly. We're trying to hide it from him.But he knows, and a lot of times he's just waiting for us to say, oh man, Lord, I am struggling. This is hard and say, okay, let me show you how to get through it. Cause that's what we do for our own kids as soon as they come to us. Now that you're ready to hear, let me show you how to work through this.
