    Confident! A Christian Perspective pt4

As a pastor and teacher, I've had the privilege of sharing many messages rooted in Scripture, and in "Confident! A Christian Perspective pt4," I aimed to further deepen our understanding of what it means to truly live a confident life. I emphasized that our confidence isn't just about believing in ourselves, but fundamentally about believing in God's incredible abilities. He is, as Ephesians 3:20 reminds us, "able to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or think." This includes having confidence in His boundless affection for us, knowing that "neither death nor life... nor anything in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." It's about recognizing His limitless abundance, trusting that "my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." And finally, it's about holding firm to His assurances, especially the promise in Philippians 1:6 that "he who began a good work in you is going to carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ."Beyond having confidence in God Himself, I wanted to impress upon you the absolute necessity of being confident in God's Word. Just as rain and snow effectively water the earth to produce vegetation, God's Word, when it goes out, "will accomplish what I intend for it to accomplish." We often find ourselves believing the lies of the devil, our circumstances, or even the latest media report, rather than the unwavering truth of Scripture. But as Mary affirmed in Luke 1, "nothing is impossible with God," meaning "no spoken word from God is impossible." I shared a personal story from my early travels to Romania, where, facing arrest under a strict communist regime, the Holy Spirit reminded me of Isaiah 54:17: "No weapon formed against me will be successful." Clinging to that promise brought faith and ultimately led to my deliverance, demonstrating that we can truly take God's Word "to the bank."The third dimension I passionately spoke about is confidence in prayer. It's easy to say we believe in prayer, but do we truly act with confidence when we pray? I reminded us that we have "promised access" to God's presence through the blood of Jesus, as Hebrews 10:19 declares: "we have confidence to enter the Holy Place by the blood of Jesus." Furthermore, Hebrews 4:16 urges us to "approach the throne of grace with confidence" to receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need. I also highlighted "promised power" in prayer, referencing Mark 11:24, where Jesus says, "whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you've received it and it'll be yours." It's about knowing God hears us when we ask according to His will, and if He hears us, "we know that we have what we have asked for." I shared the testimony of how our church prayed against an eastern cult attempting to move into our small town, and God miraculously changed their plans—a powerful reminder that prayer works! Finally, I spoke about confidence in ministry. Some might think ministry isn't for them, but every believer is called to be a minister. I pointed to the story of Peter and John in Acts 4, who, though uneducated, ministered with such confidence to the lame man at the temple, proclaiming, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" The religious leaders "noticed that these men... were uneducated, but they were confident." It was their unwavering confidence in what God could do through them that propelled them. I closed with the iconic story of David and Goliath. When the Philistine moved to attack, David didn't run away; he "ran quickly to the battle line toward the giant." He ran toward his problem with total confidence, knowing he was exactly where God wanted him to be, with a job to do. My question to you is: are you running to your problems with confidence, or away from them?

    Confident! A Christian Perspective pt3

As a pastor and teacher, I've had the privilege of sharing many messages rooted in Scripture, but few are as crucial to our daily walk as the one I recently shared on confidence. In "Confident! A Christian Perspective pt3," I wanted to help you understand that confidence isn't just a fleeting feeling. It's a genuine "difference-maker" in your life, something you can see and feel in the way people carry themselves. I believe it's time we move past the world's definition of confidence and dive into what God's Word says. It's about an inward certainty that empowers us to be bold and unwavering, no matter what we face.I've learned that true Christian confidence isn't the same as self-confidence. Self-confidence, as I often say, is based on our human effort—our training, our experience, our successes. Think of a professional golfer stepping up to the tee; they have confidence because they've practiced and honed their skill. That's a good thing, but it has its limits. The confidence I'm talking about is so much deeper. It's not based on your performance, your achievements, or your strength. Instead, it's rooted in something unshakeable, something that can’t be tossed aside: the promises of a God who never fails. In my message, I went straight to Hebrews 10:35-36, which says, "So do not throw away your confidence." The writer's words are a powerful challenge to us. Why? Because that confidence "will be richly rewarded." When we hold on to our confidence in God, it builds our perseverance, helping us to stay in the race and not give up, even when the load feels heavy. David understood this when he wrote in Psalm 27, "Even though an army would surround me… my heart will not be afraid; even if I'm attacked, I will remain confident." That's the kind of faith I want you to have—the kind that moves you from passive to mighty, from mediocre to useful in God’s hands.I want you to know that this confidence is a gift to you, available through Christ Jesus. It is a state of mind that is actually married to humility, which is a powerful and freeing concept. You can be confident without being cocky or conceited. By growing in your faith and trusting in an unfailing God, you can live a life full of purpose, a life that is bold and full of trust. My hope is that this message will empower you to embrace that God-given confidence and allow it to transform how you live, day by day.

Your Failure is Not Final: A Message of Hope - Corné Bekker

At our recent Vanguard Ministries Conference, we were deeply blessed by a powerful message from Dr. Corne Bekker—a trusted voice in both academic and spiritual leadership. His message on “finishing well” was more than just a leadership talk—it was a prophetic challenge to the Church in this moment. Corne reminded us that true leadership is not just about gifting or skill, but about integrity of heart and character. In his message, Corne identified three critical reformations God is bringing to His Church today: a return to orthodox faith, a renewed focus on worship, and a reformation of the true nature of ministry. These aren’t surface-level adjustments; they are deep, Spirit-led realignments. I believe every church leader, pastor, and disciple-maker should sit with these truths and prayerfully consider where God is leading us next. What moved me most was how Corne used the story of Peter’s denial and restoration in John 21 to illustrate the heart of true ministry. Peter—broken, ashamed, and uncertain—is met by the resurrected Christ not with judgment, but with restoration. Jesus didn’t ask Peter to perform or prove himself. He asked one simple question: “Do you love Me?” That’s where ministry begins—not with performance, but with love and grace.Corne powerfully emphasized that God seeks us before we repent, and that He often brings healing right at the scene of the crime—the place of our greatest failure. What a picture of the gospel! It’s grace that restores us, and from that restoration flows our call to tend to others—to feed His lambs and walk in surrendered obedience. This message was one of the standout moments of the conference. If you haven’t watched it yet, I urge you to take time to do so. You’ll be reminded that no matter your past, God isn’t done with you—and He’s calling all of us to finish well, with hearts fully His.

    Confident! A Christian Perspective pt2

Let’s be honest—most of us have, at some point, tried to fake it 'til we make it. We put on the smile, the strong front, the polished version of ourselves, hoping it’ll eventually feel real. But what if I told you that true confidence was never meant to be about you in the first place? In this episode of the podcast, I dig into the difference between worldly confidence and biblical confidence—and I share a pretty funny story about my Samsung refrigerator along the way. (Yes, it makes a point. And yes, it still cracks me up.) But beyond the humor, there’s a deeper message: real confidence doesn’t come from being the smartest, the strongest, or the most admired. It comes from knowing who you belong to and where your strength comes from.I’ve had my own struggles with insecurity, especially in ministry leadership. There were times I felt like I wasn’t enough, didn’t have what it takes, or couldn’t measure up to expectations. But the more I leaned into Scripture—particularly passages like Hebrews 10 and Psalm 27—the more I realized that confidence rooted in God’s character and promises is the only kind that holds steady when life shakes. In the episode, I also reflect on my experience leading a multi-campus church and how it exposed some of those hidden confidence traps. It’s easy to start basing your worth on performance, results, or public perception—but that kind of confidence is fragile. Instead, I challenge you to embrace a God-given confidence that’s not based on what you do but on who He is.So if you’re tired of pretending, striving, or wondering if you’re enough—take 30 minutes and listen in. I believe this message will encourage you, challenge you, and hopefully make you laugh just enough to remember: confidence in Christ changes everything.

Are You Called to Be a Spiritual Parent? A Must-Watch for Every Leader | Larry Kreider

At our recent Vanguard Ministries Conference, my dear friend in ministry, Larry Kreider, delivered a message that deeply resonated with every leader in the room—and I believe it’s one that needs to be heard far beyond the conference walls. In his session, Larry spoke on the vital topic of “finishing well,” reminding us that legacy is not built in a moment, but over a lifetime of faithfulness, obedience, and spiritual investment.Larry’s message challenged us to think beyond personal success and focus on spiritual parenthood—the call to raise up and mentor the next generation. His life is a testament to this principle. Through personal stories and biblical insight, he painted a compelling picture of what it means to guide others into their God-given destiny. One of the most moving parts of his message was a transparent story about spiritual fatherhood—one that reminded us all of the relational depth and sacrifice required to lead like Jesus. He also walked us through the stages of spiritual maturity and unpacked what he calls the “12 D’s of the Devil”—a sobering look at the strategies the enemy uses to distract and discourage leaders, especially through disappointment and bitterness. But Larry didn’t leave us in the struggle. He pointed us back to grace, perseverance, and the promises of God for those who refuse to give up.As he closed, Larry prayed and commissioned everyone in the room to embrace their calling, lead with integrity, and commit to finishing their race well. It was more than a teaching—it was a mantle being passed on. I believe God is raising up a generation of leaders who aren’t just gifted, but faithful, and this message is a key part of that awakening. If you missed it, I urge you to go back and watch the replay. You’ll be challenged, encouraged, and equipped to lead with lasting impact. As Larry reminded us so clearly: You were born to lead—and to finish well.

    Confident! A Christian Perspective pt1

This week on the podcast, I launched a new two-part series called “Confident: A Christian Perspective,” where we’re exploring the powerful role confidence plays in our lives—and more importantly, where that confidence should be placed. While the world tells us to trust in ourselves, true, lasting confidence is found not in our abilities but in the character and promises of God.I looked at figures like Tiger Woods and Steph Curry—athletes whose confidence is undeniable. But what stands out about Steph is how he ties his spiritual life directly to his confidence. That’s what sets Christian confidence apart: it’s not based on performance or success, but on the unwavering truth of who God is.Psalm 27 shows us this kind of confidence in action. David writes, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” Even in the face of overwhelming circumstances, David's confidence never wavered because it was rooted in the Lord. That’s the same confidence we’re called to live in today.Hebrews 10:35–36 urges us not to throw away our confidence because it leads to a great reward. The Greek word used—apobalo—means to toss aside carelessly. But this kind of confidence is far too valuable to discard. When we hold on and persevere in doing God’s will, He promises a full reward (misthia)—a life of purpose, fruitfulness, and excellence.

8 Ways the Holy Spirit Helps - pt 2

One of the foundational ways the Holy Spirit helps us is by convicting. As I explored in our discussion, John 16:7-8 clearly states that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of its sin, God's righteousness, and coming judgment. The Greek word allego really emphasizes this idea of exposing what's hidden, bringing it to light. This conviction isn't just for unbelievers – drawing them towards the saving grace of Jesus – but it's also for us, His followers. It's that gentle (or sometimes not-so-gentle) nudge that helps us recognize when we've "missed the mark" and fallen short of God's perfect standard. It’s a crucial step towards repentance and growth.Beyond conviction, the Holy Spirit also makes His home within us; He indwells us. This is a truth I find incredibly powerful. First Corinthians 3:16 reminds us that as Christians, we are temples of the Holy Spirit. Think about that for a moment – the very Spirit of God takes up residence within you the moment you invite Jesus into your life! Romans 8:9 further underscores this, stating that if you don't have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in you, you don't belong to Him. This isn't a fleeting visit; it's a continuous, abiding presence that is always with us, ready to guide and support. Finally, the Holy Spirit acts as our divine teacher and advocate. John 14:26 promises that the Father will send the Holy Spirit to teach us everything and remind us of everything Jesus has said. The Greek word dedasco signifies instructing in minute detail, highlighting the Holy Spirit’s thoroughness in revealing truth to us. When you're reading your Bible, pray for the Holy Spirit to teach you, to unlock deeper understanding and transform your heart. He also serves as our paricletos, our advocate, one who comes alongside to assist. Whether it's like a lawyer representing us in a legal case or simply someone offering support in a crisis, the Holy Spirit is there, a constant helper, always ready to intercede and empower us.

Dreams to Destiny PT3 | HOW TO TURN YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

In my recent video, "Dreams to Destiny PT3 HOW TO TURN YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY," I shared some insights on how to transform your dreams into tangible realities. Drawing from personal observations and biblical principles, I've found that this journey involves a blend of inner resolve and actionable steps. It begins with three personal observations: decision, discipline, and determination. Decision is the starting point, the activation of your will. Discipline is the hard work, the saying 'no' to distractions and 'yes' to what propels you forward. Determination, the intensified activation of your will, helps you persevere through challenges and cross the finish line.Beyond these personal observations, there are five action steps rooted in the book of Habakkuk. First, get alone with God, finding a quiet space to connect and listen. Second, look for the dream – be receptive to what God is revealing. Third, write it down; record those God-sized dreams. I've personally experienced the power of this, revisiting my own "bucket list" and setting new goals. Fourth, rise up and act; start running with the vision. Finally, never give up. Dreams, especially those from God, may take time. Patience and perseverance are key, trusting in His perfect timing.Discipline is a critical component. It’s about learning to say no to what you should and yes to what you should, subjecting your carnal nature to the spirit of God. This has been a significant lesson in my own life. Hard work and discipline are crucial for mastering skills and achieving dreams. These principles and steps are not just theoretical; they are practical tools for anyone seeking to turn their dreams into destiny. Whether you're just beginning to dream or you're in the midst of the journey, remember that decision, discipline, and determination, coupled with a connection to God and unwavering perseverance, are the keys to unlocking your potential and achieving your God-given destiny.

Abley highlights the trend of faith deconstruction among Christian figures, linking it to a culture of doubt exacerbated by social media, and underlines the theological significance of Jesus' dual nature as fully God and fully man. He concludes by urging church leaders to teach essential truths and help believers engage deeply with Scripture, reinforcing the importance of grounding faith in the authority of God's Word amidst contemporary challenges.

I AM | The True Vine pt 2

In John 15, Jesus paints a powerful picture of our relationship with Him using the analogy of a vine and branches. He is the true vine, and we, as His followers, are the branches meant to bear fruit. But what kind of fruit is He talking about? Some believe it refers only to winning souls, but Scripture shows that fruitfulness encompasses much more. It includes the fruits of repentance, the fruit of the Spirit, and the ways we use our God-given gifts to impact others. Jesus’ message in this passage is clear—fruitfulness is not an option; it should be the norm for every believer. One of the most important truths about fruit is that it always bears the character of the tree it comes from. Just as an apple tree produces apples, a life connected to Jesus will naturally reflect His nature. Moreover, fruit is always visible and benefits others. The Christian life is meant to be lived out in a way that draws people in, allowing them to see the goodness of God through our actions, words, and attitudes. A truly fruitful life isn’t self-serving—it enriches those around us.However, fruit doesn’t appear overnight. Unlike spiritual gifts, which are given instantly, fruit must grow over time. This means we must be patient in our spiritual journey, allowing God to cultivate and refine us. Interestingly, Jesus never commands us to "produce" fruit—only to bear it. This distinction is crucial because it shifts the focus from self-effort to dependence on Christ. Just as a branch doesn’t struggle to grow fruit but simply remains attached to the vine, we thrive spiritually when we prioritize abiding in Him.Ultimately, the key to a productive Christian life is abiding—remaining deeply connected to Christ. This isn’t about religious duty but about developing a joyful, intimate, and ongoing relationship with Him. Abiding means spending time in His presence, walking in obedience, and allowing His life to flow through us. When we do this, fruitfulness becomes a natural byproduct of our relationship with Jesus. So the question isn’t whether we’re producing enough—it’s whether we’re abiding enough.
