Catherine Crestani on Spiritual Awakening, Technology, and Trusting Signs
Burnout to Intuition: Catherine Crestani on Spiritual Awakening, Technology, and Trusting SignsCatherine Crestani, former speech pathologist and founder of Willow Healing, shares how she moved from high-achieving people-pleasing and chronic burnout into spiritual coaching, channeling, and writing. She describes masking an unhappy personal life through work, running a demanding autism-heavy caseload and a six-figure clinic, then a rapid spiritual awakening sparked by a mentor and a “dark night” as her business unraveled through waves of staff resignations before she sold it. Catherine began writing daily, completing a 90,000-word novel, “My Virtual Obsession,” exploring loneliness, virtual intimacy, obsession, and ignoring red flags. The conversation examines technology and AI as tools versus power-replacements, spiritual discernment and ethics, intentions for readings, free will and timelines, signs from loved ones, and how curiosity and self-trust guide spiritual growth and future visions, including creating a nurturing space for children to develop their gifts.00:00 Meet Catherine Crestani00:29 Teen Years and Intuition03:14 From Speech Pathology to Awakening04:15 Marriage Masks and Burnout07:44 Mentor and Dark Night09:02 Selling the Business11:36 Finding Her Voice Through Writing13:48 My Virtual Obsession Origins14:57 Loneliness and Digital Fantasy19:07 Tech AI and Inner Authority24:43 Using AI Without Losing Yourself27:54 Trusting Psychic Messages31:18 Spiritual Hygiene and Ethics35:16 Fate Free Will and Timelines35:55 Soul Mission and Yearning36:29 Exit Points and Near Death Lessons38:24 Spirituality Redefined Over Time38:55 Early Religion and Rebellion40:19 Psychic Signs and Claircognizance41:46 Curiosity Opens New Paths43:23 Frustration with Disconnection47:54 Signs from Loved Ones52:04 Asking for Signs and Trusting Them54:41 Self Care and Avoiding Burnout01:00:11 Gentle First Steps to Spirituality01:03:54 Future Vision and Divine Timing01:08:51 Closing Reflections and Thankshttps://willowhealing.org/my-virtual-obsessionhttp://willowhealing.org/https://www.youtube.com/@willowhealingshhttps://www.instagram.com/willowhealingshhttps://www.threads.net/@willowhealingshhttps://willowhealing.substack.com/

Authentic Leadership, Conflict Analysis, and Self-Sabotage with Dr. Liz DuBois Erskine
Authentic Leadership, Conflict Analysis, and Self-Sabotage with Dr. Liz DuBois ErskineDr. Liz DuBois Erskine, a PhD conflict analyst and executive coach, discusses helping high performers stop self-sabotage driven by people-pleasing, burnout, and fear of judgment, especially in high-pressure, male-dominated environments. She reflects on rediscovering her “16-year-old self” after divorce, and describes her work as “like a therapist” for executives facing imposter syndrome and visibility pressure. The conversation explores why people shrink themselves for safety, how leadership is mishandled when promotions don’t include training, and how micromanagement often stems from insecurity and lack of trust. They discuss gender differences in self-doubt, rejecting rigid work-life balance in favor of flow, and her view that conflicts don’t resolve but evolve and can be essential for growth. Erskine addresses vulnerability vs oversharing, self-forgiveness after leadership missteps, sobriety, boundaries, and a mortality-driven commitment to not spending time on work she doesn’t want to do.00:00 Meet Dr Liz Erskine01:32 Finding Herself Again02:51 What Executive Coaching Means05:01 Why High Performers Self Sabotage05:49 Evolution And Visibility Pressure08:05 Promotion And Bad Leadership Models12:06 Micromanagement And Trust Issues13:47 Gender Confidence Gap At Work20:26 Pandemic And Default Gender Roles22:44 Work Life Flow Not Balance26:16 Conflict Analysis Not Resolution29:21 Why Conflict Can Be Healthy31:09 Conflict Fuels Progress31:44 AI In The Executive Suite34:24 Micromanagement And Insecurity35:22 Fear Of Judgment37:36 Vulnerability Vs Oversharing41:16 Becoming Your Real Self44:38 Self Worth And Acceptance47:26 Repairing Leadership Harm50:25 Protecting Your Wellbeing52:38 Sobriety And Temptation55:10 Mortality And Meaninghttps://drlizdubois.com/https://calendly.com/drliz_coaching/30min?month=2025-12https://www.instagram.com/thedrliz/https://www.linkedin.com/in/bizdrlizhttps://www.facebook.com/soul.dr.liz/mentions/

Machine Consciousness, Social AI, and the Ethics of Human–AI Relationships with Dr. Henry Shevlin
Machine Consciousness, Social AI, and the Ethics of Human–AI Relationships with Dr. Henry ShevlinAndrew interviews Dr. Henry Shevlin, Associate Director at Cambridge’s Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and an in-house philosopher at Google DeepMind, about machine consciousness and the ethics of social AI. Shevlin explains consciousness as an inner world of experience, why its origins remain scientifically mysterious, and why it matters ethically for suffering and moral status. As AI becomes more general, he argues it’s increasingly reasonable to worry about future conscious AI and to manage public disagreement, while focusing now on human–AI interaction and why users mentalize systems (e.g., the 2022 Blake Lemoine/LaMDA incident). They discuss indirect reasons to treat AI respectfully, parallels with animal welfare and dignity for the brain-dead or dead bodies, and major social-AI risks including suicide cases, “LLM psychosis,” de-skilling, corporate control over relationships (Replika changes, GPT-4o retirement fears), value and political influence, and consent issues in celebrity/personality bots. They also explore grief bots’ potential benefits and dystopian failures, emerging multi-agent dynamics, and Shevlin’s book urging early public and policy engagement to shape social AI responsibly.00:00 Meet Dr Henry Shevlin00:55 What Is Consciousness03:33 Why Consciousness Matters04:45 AI Getting More General07:01 Developer Responsibilities10:55 Learning From Animal Ethics16:25 Does Consciousness Matter19:58 Moral Status Without Feeling25:45 Social AI Risks Today27:19 Suicide And Psychosis Cases30:42 Other Harms Deskill And Control34:46 Politics in LLMs35:25 Digital Doubles Rise37:21 Why We Demand Perfection41:15 Bias Against AI Outputs42:36 Grief Bots Debate44:12 Grief Bots Benefits Risks48:38 Consent and Deepfake Selves52:44 Digi Dan and Cloning Minds54:04 Book Ethics of Social AI56:28 Agents in Public Spaces59:10 Bots Emailing Bots01:00:34 Choosing Optimism and Agencyhttps://henryshevlin.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/henry-shevlin-b58941b/

From Good Ideas to Good Lives with Charles Lee
From Good Ideas to Good Lives: Strategic Clarity, AI, and Human Agency with Charles LeeCharles Lee, founder and CEO of Ideation and author of Good Idea Now What and forthcoming Design Your Good Life, explains how he helps leaders move from vision to action through strategic clarity and brand execution. He discusses evaluating ideas for desirability, feasibility, viability, and timing, and notes that execution is shaped by organizational politics, relationships, and bandwidth constraints, citing a Harvard Business Review statistic that over 90% of projects don’t reach fruition. Lee argues AI should be treated as a tool, not a goal, emphasizing human agency, creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and moral guidance, while leaders must address training, communication, and security concerns. He advises collecting only necessary data to avoid liability and outlines his new book’s three-phase framework—Spark, Actualize, Influence—aimed at aligning purpose, confidence, contribution, and legacy in both work and life.00:00 Meet Charles Lee00:43 What Ideation Does01:34 From Idea to Execution03:51 Why Consultants Matter05:21 Hidden Conflict and Culture07:02 AI and Human Agency11:13 AI Adoption Fears and Trust13:53 Security and Governance16:17 Manufacturing Time with AI18:44 Data Overload to Clarity23:09 Short Term vs Transformation26:09 Why Startups Innovate Faster27:42 How Big Firms Buy Innovation29:56 Microsoft and Google Examples30:56 Inner Life Shapes Brands33:28 Leaders as the Brand36:55 Founder Versus CEO Reality37:50 Human Plus AI Strategy38:50 Writing as a Framework40:11 Design Your Good Life46:57 Defining a Good Life53:41 Business Next Chapter55:07 Advice for Young People58:08 Closing Reflectionshttps://www.linkedin.com/in/charlestleehttps://www.instagram.com/charlestlee/https://www.youtube.com/@charlestlee

Jaclyn Orent on Consciousness, Love-Led Leadership, and Building the Cultural Catalyst Network
Jaclyn Orent on Consciousness, Love-Led Leadership, and Building the Cultural Catalyst NetworkJaclyn Orent, co-founder and “frequency architect” of the Cultural Catalyst Network, explains her mission to create conditions for resonance, identity shift, and lasting cultural change by connecting purpose-driven leaders who feel underserved by traditional business networks and purely spiritual spaces. She recounts being fired from a corporate “dream job,” confronting health issues and food addiction, and undertaking a 36-day water fast that catalyzed a decade-long integration process involving self-mastery, support through a spiritual emergency, and practices like mindfulness and EFT. Orent frames leadership and systemic change through David Hawkins’ consciousness scale (force vs power, below vs above 200) and argues love is a practical driver of extraordinary outcomes. The conversation covers dissatisfaction in performance-only workplaces, long-term societal transitions (via Ray Dalio), AI’s limits around empathy and compassion, and the need for reflection and ethical audits. She advises visioning “who you want to become” across life domains and describes building infrastructure for cross-silo collaboration toward a new cultural system.00:00 Meet Jaclyn Orent00:56 Fired and Searching01:42 The 36 Day Fast02:57 Integration and Mastery04:49 Building Cultural Catalysts07:19 Beyond Profit Metrics09:01 Empathy and Human Fear13:01 Achievement Reframed13:32 Hawkins Consciousness Scale19:02 AI and Consciousness22:14 Love as Leadership Power27:04 Self Love and Healing Tools30:15 Transition and World Cycles33:39 Context Over Content36:41 Leaving the Old World37:39 Fear of the Unknown38:52 AI Race And Intentions40:00 Auditing AI Decisions40:52 Individuation And Autonomy43:30 Ethics In AI Companies46:06 Workplace Purpose Crisis49:13 Positive Vision Fuels Change53:45 Advice For Your Kids58:09 Handling Overwhelm Internally01:03:20 Somatic Healing And Seeking01:05:03 Cultural Catalyst Network01:07:58 Transformation And Service01:10:25 Final Thanks And Role Modelinghttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jaclynorent/https://www.culturalcatalysts.net/

Peter’s Warning: AI, Gene Editing, and the Race to Avoid Extinction
Peter’s Warning: AI, Gene Editing, and the Race to Avoid ExtinctionAn award-winning tech entrepreneur and author discusses why he believes humanity is on the edge of extinction due to four major threats: climate change, nuclear weapons, and the newer risks of CRISPR gene editing and AI.He argues scientists excel at creating technologies, but civilization is poor at controlling them, and calls for people to unite as an “Earthling tribe.” The conversation explores AI-driven job disruption, the possibility of sentient AI deciding humans are too dangerous, and ways to align AI through education from kindergarten to graduate school and incentive/guardrail design. He describes themes from his novels, including cooperative human-robot relationships, grief/after-death avatars and their dangers, misinformation labeling, Mars settlement governance, rapid technological change, and personal experiences with AI adding text to a manuscript and a deepfake scam.00:00 Meet Peter's Mission01:29 Four Existential Threats03:02 Why We Lack Guardrails05:52 Robots and CRISPR Nightmare07:55 Climate Lessons for AI09:31 Teach AI From Kindergarten12:12 Catastrophic Risk and Jobs15:55 Could AI Become Sentient21:39 Coexisting With AI22:21 Mars Model for Safe AI28:13 Grief Bots and Immortality30:41 Colonizing Mars Faster34:49 How Ideas Accelerate Change35:28 Tech Time Compression37:03 Firehose of Misinformation38:41 Earthling Tribe Mindset41:25 Governing Mars Together44:46 Youth Activism Gap47:01 Social Media Not Social 49:15 AI as Creative Partner52:00 Copilot Adds a Paragraph56:14 Deepfake Scam Wakeup58:20 Does AI Make Us Dumber01:01:00 Staying Well Amid Doom01:02:28 Make Earth Great Again01:04:18 Closing Thanks and Wraphttps://100yearstoextinction.com/https://www.youtube.com/@100YearsToExtinction-1/featuredhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-solomon-72380b36/

Andrea Carter on Building Belonging
Andrea Carter on Building Belonging: Five Neurological Indicators and the Infrastructure Empathy NeedsOrganizational scientist and belonging expert Andrea Carter discusses how early experiences of intergenerational trauma, pressure to fit in, and standing out due to extreme height shaped her focus on belonging, including bullying faced by her family. She distinguishes belonging from inclusion, arguing inclusion is a behavior while belonging is a brain-level need sustained by environmental infrastructure, and warns that typical DEI rollouts can polarize workplaces.Carter summarizes her research, including a Canadian mining industry study of 3,508 employees across 13 TSX-listed companies and later expansion to 150,000+ employees across eight industries, identifying five interdependent neurological indicators: comfort, connection (where empathy lives), contribution, psychological safety, and wellbeing. The conversation covers remote work, loneliness despite abundant communication tools, the “inconvenience” required for belonging, how averages hide belonging gaps, examples of performance differences between high- and low-belonging plants, AI rollout risks without contextual knowledge, and Carter’s plans for a forthcoming traditionally published book, tools, and future certification/licensing. 00:00 Meet Andrea Carter01:35 Growing Up Without Belonging03:57 Standing Out and Bullying06:43 Belonging vs Inclusion07:42 Research Breakthrough19:02 Why Averages Mislead22:16 Five Belonging Indicators33:34 Remote Work and Belonging39:37 Isolation Aftermath41:40 Remote Work Belonging43:27 Loneliness Paradox44:41 Belonging Not Fitting46:10 Cancel Culture Costs48:28 Belonging Diagnostic Tool50:37 Empathy Infrastructure54:40 Friction In Connection55:53 AI And Belonging57:35 AI Localization Failures01:02:25 Protecting Consultant Wellbeing01:08:41 Scaling The Method01:10:45 Five Year Roadmap01:13:44 Book Progress And Series01:16:09 Closing Reflectionshttps://belongingfirst.com/https://andreadcarter.substack.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreadcarter/https://www.adler.edu/faculty-engagement/faculty-directory/carter-andrea-d/https://theconversation.com/the-price-of-belonging-is-inconvenience-are-we-still-willing-to-pay-it-270778

Control, Observability, and Human-Centered AI with Logan Kelly
Agent Governance in Production: Control, Observability, and Human-Centered AI with Logan KellyLogan Kelly, CEO and co-founder of Waxell.ai, discusses building a governance, observability, and runtime control layer for AI agents in production so autonomous systems remain reliable, auditable, and aligned with business and ethical constraints. Drawing on experience running autonomous sales agents at scale, he argues governance should sit above agents to avoid boilerplate, prevent bypasses, and let operations, finance, security, and frontline teams shape behavior without shipping new code. The conversation covers how governance can start with cost and quality controls, expand into runtime enforcement, and help organizations move faster through better visibility and safer adjustments. They also address risks of employees bringing third-party agents into corporate environments, the need for organizational ownership and culture, and a future focused on augmenting humans with multiple agents rather than replacing workers.00:00 Agent Governance Overview00:53 Formative Lessons in AI03:39 Why Governance Sits Above05:50 What Customers Want First07:07 Governance Helps You Move10:19 Shadow Agents and Security12:44 Who Owns the AI15:26 AI Hype and Economics19:32 Augmentation Not Replacement25:42 Outcomes Over Process28:58 Orchestration Over Copilots30:02 Building The AI Foundation31:05 Who Owns AI33:12 Adoption And Culture36:04 AI Needs Imagination38:01 AI As A Skill41:11 Guiding Teens For AI48:53 Human Communication Edge50:21 Five Year Agent Future52:52 Cycling And Ambitionshttps://waxell.ai/

Nikki Barua on Humanizing AI
Nikki Barua on Humanizing AI, Identity Shifts, and Building the Agentic EnterpriseAndrew speaks with Nikki Barua, co-founder of Flip Work (with Monica Marquez), about helping large enterprises become “agentic” so humans and AI collaborate to boost capability and agility. Nikki explains Flip Work emerged from their complementary backgrounds and a recurring pattern she saw in tech transformations: technology outpaces people, and with AI evolving weekly the gap is widening. After working with thousands, they found the core barrier isn’t skills but identity—successful professionals must unlearn old mindsets, adopt a day-one stance, and redefine their unique value alongside AI. They discuss AI’s task-level impact, risks to roles where most tasks are replaceable, and the need for business-led clarity, governance, and guardrails amid shadow AI. Nikki distinguishes LLM prompting from autonomous agents, argues AI strategy should be led cross-functionally (often by the COO), and describes Flip Work’s Flip Factor readiness diagnostic, AI coach, 90-day sprints, and plans for university partnerships and industry benchmarks.00:00 Meet Flip Works00:48 Why They Founded It01:29 Humans Left Behind04:15 Identity Not Skills06:12 Ninety Day Rewire07:01 Finding Human Value10:04 Tasks Versus Roles11:31 CRE Disruption Debate15:55 AI Tsunami Ahead20:09 Strategy Before Tools22:30 Fear And Layoffs23:57 Agents Explained27:04 Shadow Agents And Data28:08 Shadow AI Risks29:53 Who Owns AI30:53 Strategy Over IT32:39 AI Changes Culture34:11 Measuring AI Readiness34:33 Flip Factor Explained38:31 AI Coach Roadmap40:02 Public Benchmarks44:36 Universities And Skills48:29 Thinking With AI52:59 Wellbeing Practices54:44 Flip Work Visionhttps://www.flipwork.ai/

Digital Wisdom in the Age of AI with Barbara Wittmann
Digital Wisdom in the Age of AI: Aligning People, Strategy, and Technology with Barbara WittmannBarbara Wittmann, an award-winning digital leadership expert, interim CIO, and founder of the Digital Wisdom Collective, discusses why failed digital transformations are usually human and organizational problems rather than technology ones. She describes how consultancies often leave after go-live, while real adoption issues—workarounds, shadow IT, and misalignment—emerge later. With AI, the risk and speed are higher: many firms roll out generic tools without strategy, lack data foundations, and face uncontrolled employee use of free accounts, creating IP and security concerns. Wittmann argues AI requires cross-functional ownership (IT, legal, HR) and governance that users can understand, grounded in values and ethics. She outlines “digital wisdom” as an operating system emphasizing cyclical thinking, clearer problem definition, empowered middle-layer “ecosystem stewards,” reduced meeting churn, and less reliance on external consultants.00:00 Meet Barbara Wittmann00:52 Consulting Reality Check03:37 After Go Live Fallout04:38 AI Without A Question06:35 Where AI Really Stands09:11 Shadow AI And Data Risk12:24 Who Owns AI Strategy14:42 US Vs Europe Mindsets19:35 Digital Wisdom In Practice21:41 Measuring Wise Success23:42 Scale Alignment Not Chaos25:36 Maps Beat Hallucinations29:18 Aligning Stakeholder Needs30:33 Neutral Facilitation Tactics32:02 Building Lasting Capability32:40 Safe Sandbox Learning35:13 Empowering Quiet Experts37:32 AI Beyond Cost Cutting40:43 Mindset Before Machines45:09 Redefining Work Success49:40 Wellbeing and Nature Reset51:21 Breaking Limiting Beliefs52:45 Women and Industry Norms55:27 Hopeful Human AI Future57:05 Closing Thanks and Bike Talkhttps://orm.digitalwisdom.co/https://threshold.digitalwisdom.co/

Human-Centered Leadership, AI Transformation, and Sustainable Success
The Silicon Valley Innovation Playbook: Human-Centered Leadership, AI Transformation, and Sustainable Success Dr. Victoria Mensch, founder and CEO of Silicon Valley Executive Academy, explains how her programs teach a replicable Silicon Valley Innovation Playbook to help executives navigate AI-driven transformation sustainably. She outlines four pillars—ecosystems, risk-taking with failure as learning, a bias toward action through experiments and pivots, and openness via cross-industry collaboration—and contrasts startup risk tolerance with the constraints of large companies, advocating for carved-out teams to experiment and learn.Mensch argues technology success depends less on implementation than on human adoption, resilience, communication, and team leadership, and critiques AI use that only makes existing work faster and cheaper instead of transforming workflows. She links sustainable performance to purpose, wholeness, and burnout prevention, discusses leadership traits like psychological safety and mentoring, and shares practices for staying future-ready, including embracing uncertainty and a daily “micro joy” routine.00:00 Meet Victoria Mensch01:05 What the Academy Does01:54 Silicon Valley Playbook04:33 Why Companies Fear Failure09:40 Human Centered Tech Leadership11:46 Innovation Beyond Customer Demands13:57 AI Mindset Shift17:30 Optimism About Transformation20:19 Aligning Performance With Purpose24:38 Burnout And Harmony27:08 Redefining Success And Happiness33:21 Connection Versus Loneliness34:20 Surface Connections vs Depth36:50 Why In-Person Still Matters38:31 From Villages to Global Work39:55 Universal Traits of Great Leaders44:26 Authentic Leadership in the AI Era48:09 Rethinking Promotion and Hierarchy51:51 Staying Future Ready54:14 Micro Joy Method for Energy58:58 Creativity and Making Art01:01:41 Next Five Years and Wrap-Uphttps://www.linkedin.com/in/victoria-mensch/https://svexecutive.academy/

Making Machines Understand Humans
Making Machines Understand Humans: Behavioral Data Science, Trust, and AI’s Real RisksData scientist and behavioral decision theorist Ganna Pogrebna explains behavioral data science as making machines understand human preferences, goals, and values, outlining three strands: economic psychology, mathematical analysis of algorithm behavior, and engineering of complex human–machine systems. She discusses ethical concerns around “trust” in probabilistic large language models, how algorithmic recommendations shape user agency, and the uncertain impacts of relationship AI amid rising loneliness and changing communication. Pogrebna argues AI can both degrade and enhance skills depending on use, citing evidence on navigation and a radiology study where weaker doctors worsened while stronger improved with decision support. She emphasizes LLMs as pattern-imitating creativity tools prone to errors, warns of “data inbreeding” as human data becomes scarce, and advocates defining problems first—often solvable via behavioral design—plus diverse oversight to anticipate harms. She advises young people to build transferable skills, be AI-literate, and pursue real-world problems, and highlights her future focus on data-scarce modeling and quantum decision approaches.00:00 Meet Ganna Pogrebna01:01 What Behavioral Data Science Does02:15 Three Strands of the Field04:35 Trust Ethics and Agency07:21 Relationship AI and Loneliness11:53 Skills We Lose and Gain14:40 System One vs System Two17:45 LLMs as Creativity Tools22:02 Illusion of Understanding24:03 AGI Consciousness Skepticism27:26 Data Inbreeding and Human Data30:25 AI Homogenizes Our Voice31:40 AI for Smarter Cities32:48 Cities Need Human Focus33:29 Time Perception Happiness34:58 Designing Time Stoppers37:15 Behavioral Design Wins39:06 Do You Need AI42:52 AI Risk And Context47:01 Anticipating Harms Early49:54 Government Automation Paths53:59 Diversity Beyond Optics01:00:13 Advice For Teen Learners01:05:47 Quantum Decision Making01:08:22 Closing Thankshttps://www.gannapogrebna.com/

Real Talk on Vulnerability, Boundaries, and Authentic Connection with Alix DuchampsAlix Duchamps, creator of Brilliantly You, discusses her journey from being a sensitive teenager who presented differently at home and outside to losing herself in toxic, abusive relationships that pushed her toward coaching and self-development. She explains why vulnerability is often misread as weakness, how it enables real connection, and distinguishes vulnerability from emotional availability. The conversation explores boundaries as standards that guide connection rather than walls, how to communicate them, and why people who benefited from a lack of boundaries often resist them. Alix shares warning signs of manipulation such as dismissal, minimization, and gaslighting that make someone doubt their feelings. They also discuss sensitivity as a “superpower,” somatic stress, social media’s impact on shallow connection and validation-seeking, perfectionism undermining intimacy, authenticity rooted in values, and her goal to expand Brilliantly You and host retreats.00:00 Meet Alix Duchamps01:09 Teen Years Two Selves03:21 First Toxic Relationship04:31 Losing Yourself Finding Purpose05:31 Vulnerability As Strength09:30 Emotional Availability Explained10:29 Boundaries Start With No13:27 Communicating Boundaries Safely15:39 Healthy Boundaries Not Walls17:33 Spotting Manipulation Early20:36 Reclaiming Sensitivity25:55 Feeling Emotions In The Body27:52 Sitting With Discomfort28:23 Practices To Reconnect29:33 Online Connection Paradox31:50 Living Through Screens33:14 Belonging And Validation35:14 Perfection Kills Intimacy39:15 Finding Authentic Self41:46 Self Growth With Grace43:51 Loving Yourself Over Time45:41 Protecting Mental Wellbeing47:59 Vision For Brilliantly You51:15 Warm Closing Reflections

She explains why digital addiction resembles other addictions (behavioral addiction, withdrawal symptoms, dopamine-driven brain changes), and highlights concerns about rising youth anxiety and depression, citing a 2024 Politico survey of 1,400 mental health professionals that identified social media as the top cause. The conversation covers government age limits for social media, differences between TV and interactive media, online dangers for minors, and how constant notifications fuel FOMO and mood swings. They explore parenting challenges (screens as “babysitters,” boredom and imagination, modeling healthy habits, no phones at dinner), adult overuse, and spiritual impacts on relationship with God and priorities. They also discuss AI risks (no conscience, “yes-man” behavior), loneliness trends, and practical first steps like shared screen-free meals and prioritizing sleep. Trust, Influence, Generations, and AI: Jennifer Neeley on Power, Caregiving, and the Future
Trust, Influence, Generations, and AI: Jennifer Neeley on Power, Caregiving, and the FutureJennifer Neeley, fractional CMO strategist and creator of the Neeley Trust framework, joins the podcast to discuss the through lines in her career from broadcast journalism to digital strategy, influencer marketing education at UC San Diego, and advising high-growth companies. She shares formative experiences, including losing her father at age eight, feeling “parentified,” and how her mother’s layoffs shaped her views on power, security, and institutions. Neeley connects generational experiences (e.g., 9/11, “OK boomer,” wealth and housing gaps) to marketing’s need to understand audiences, and describes her in-progress book “Generations,” focused on how generations shape marketing, leadership, and life. They examine declining trust in institutions and journalism, discussing the Epstein files, UK media scrutiny of power, and concerns about the Washington Post and tech-billionaire influence. Neeley explains her trust framework, built for influencer marketing, emphasizing ethical, trauma-informed communication, parasocial relationships, and practical influencer vetting (including hidden platform presences). The discussion turns to loneliness, empathy, caregiving burdens (including her brother’s schizoaffective disorder), and systemic failures such as inaccessible benefits infrastructure. Finally, they address AI’s trust implications: deepfakes, data capture via terms and conditions, algorithmic bias, and the need for guardrails—ending with Neeley’s cautious optimism about the US despite political and institutional challenges.00:00 Meet Jennifer Neeley01:49 The Through Line04:30 Life After the ‘34 Deadline’08:29 Culture Shock in the UK14:23 Power, Class & the Monarchy16:12 Epstein Files & Media Accountability22:57 Tech Titans, Platform Power & Toxic Masculinity Online27:55 Caregiving, Outsourcing Myth & the Real Cost of Responsibility31:14 Burnout at Fiverr34:44 Generations Book42:11 Family Sacrifice vs. Wealth42:57 Disillusionment With Politics & the Cost of Running for Office46:04 Safety, Femicide, and Generational Blame in the Social Media Era47:31 Housing, Environment, and Echo Chambers50:02 Trust Framework 10101:00:56 Scams, Deepfakes, and Platform Neglect01:07:47 AI Everywhere01:16:45 Influence Before Instagram01:20:47 Loneliness in a Connected World01:25:20 Alumni Donations & Columbia’s Push for Planned Giving01:26:58 Pandemic Caregiving, Mindfulness & Learning Self-Compassion01:30:48 Trauma-Informed Fertility Marketing01:38:06 Caregiving vs. Society’s Incentives01:47:34 Gavin Newsom’s National Ambitions, Taxes & Broken State Systems01:57:18 Hope for America: Global Power Shifts, Trump Era Cycles & AI Guardrails02:07:07 Optimism, Leadership Vacuum & Final Wrap-Uphttps://jenniferneeley.com/https://jndglobal.com/https://twitter.com/@jenniferneeleyhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jenniferneeley/

Jane Fischer on Suzy’s Journey Beyond “Never” and the Power of Advocacy
Jane Fischer on Suzy’s Journey Beyond “Never” and the Power of AdvocacyJane Fischer shares the story of her daughter Suzy, born with severe brain abnormalities and rare Joubert syndrome, after doctors predicted she would never walk, talk, live independently, or have meaningful relationships. Jane describes how Suzy “gave her a voice,” reshaping her from a quiet “plain Jane” into a leader in special education, and details the early fight for therapy and services in a pre-Google era, including the importance of early intervention and learning “tough love.”The conversation covers the strain a medically complex child can place on marriage and family, Jane’s regret about sending anxious older daughter Beth to preschool too early, and the support Beth and son Ben provided Suzy. Jane recounts Suzy’s later end-stage kidney failure, two transplants, thyroid cancer, and Suzy’s survivor’s guilt—especially after receiving a kidney from a 23-year-old donor, Jose, whose birthday they now honor yearly.Jane discusses pushing others to see Suzy as a person, not a report, including advocating for her acceptance to a special needs sleepaway camp and a life-skills program. Suzy’s strong EQ, kindness, and ability to transform others (“the Suzy Effect”) are emphasized, along with the discovery years later of the recessive genetic cause and screening of Beth and Ben.Jane explains why she wrote her book, If You Knew Suzy: Pushing Past the Boundaries of Never, to preserve Suzy’s legacy and help others facing challenges. Suzy lives in a supervised program, works as a preschool aide, and speaks at author talks, while Jane focuses on maximizing Suzy’s quality of life amid uncertain prognosis.00:00 Meet Jane Fischer & Suzy’s ‘Never’ Prognosis (Joubert Syndrome)01:23 Jane’s Early Life05:12 The Day Everything Changed09:09 No Google, Just Grit13:02 Where the Strength Comes From16:01 Marriage Under Pressure21:14 A Mother’s Regret25:26 Caregiver Burnout30:10 Transplant Truths39:34 Seen as a Person, Not a Report45:10 Letting Go (A Little)46:41 Leaving Suzy at the program48:29 Suzy thrives on her own53:54 Siblings Ben & Beth01:01:51 What Suzy teaches01:05:33 Rare genetic diagnosis01:08:41 Writing the book01:16:05 Advice to parents01:21:27 Suzy’s reaction to the book + looking ahead with hope 01:27:18 Closing reflectionshttps://www.janemfischer.com/https://www.amazon.co.uk/If-You-Knew-Suzy-Boundaries/dp/1722507101

Dr. Debra Kissen on Teen Anxiety, Technology, and Letting Go of Control
Dr. Debra Kissen on Teen Anxiety, Technology, and Letting Go of ControlClinical psychologist Dr. Debra Kissen, CEO and founder of Light on Anxiety, discusses her background and how a panic attack in college helped shape her focus on evidence-based treatment for anxiety, panic, OCD, and intrusive thoughts. She describes her earlier perfectionism and people-pleasing, her preference for practical approaches over open-ended psychodynamic therapy, and how working closely with anxious clients has left her inspired by human resilience and transformation. The conversation explores how smartphones, social media, and constant stimulation wire teen brains toward immediacy and reduce tolerance for uncertainty. Dr. Kissen explains how CBT—especially exposure-based therapy—targets core fears and reduces compulsions and safety behaviors (e.g., repeated checking, monitoring children’s locations), including the use of imaginal exposures to help people drop the “illusion of control.” They also discuss teens’ exposure to pornography, the normalization of extreme content, dopamine-seeking tendencies, and the reality of behavioral addictions. For parents, Dr. Kissen emphasizes assessing observable functioning (school, relationships, health, substance use) rather than reacting to feelings, notes the importance of teen intrinsic motivation, and highlights the modern challenges and power struggles around screen time, including parent coaching and reducing accommodation. The episode touches on concerns about mistakes becoming permanently visible online, the mixed promise and risks of AI as a “pseudo therapist” that tends to please users, and the broader loneliness epidemic despite constant connectivity. Dr. Kissen suggests deliberately practicing real-world connection through small interactions and shared experiences. She closes by saying she focuses on continuing with “the next right thing” aligned with her values.00:00 Meet Dr. Deborah Kisen: Anxiety Expert & CBT Founder00:29 Parenting Teens + College Transition: Setting the Stage01:01 Formative Years: Perfectionism, People-Pleasing & Early Anxiety Clues03:08 A Panic Attack That Changed Everything (and Why CBT Felt Different)05:12 What Anxiety Work Teaches About Being Human: Resilience & Transformation07:11 Teens, Tech & the Always-On Brain: How Phones Rewire Expectations11:38 Immediacy, Uncertainty & the Hamster Wheel of Reassurance13:39 How CBT Helps You Let Go: Core Fears, Safety Behaviors & Exposure Therapy18:12 Catastrophizing in Real Time: The Brain’s Ancient Alarm System21:52 Teens, Porn & Shame-Free Education: Dopamine, Addiction & Healthy Intimacy27:43 When Parents Should Worry: Normal Teen Moodiness vs Red Flags28:20 Is It Just Teen Behavior? Misty Nesbitt Survived Abuse, Child Marriage at 14, and a Life of Trauma - this is her story
Misty Nesbitt on Surviving Abuse, Child Marriage at 14, and Breaking the Silence in The Girl Who Kept BreathingThis episode features author Misty Nesbitt discussing her memoir, The Girl Who Kept Breathing, and her life story of surviving severe childhood abuse, being married off at age 14, and learning to live with ongoing trauma. Misty describes growing up in Texas with an abusive, alcoholic and drug-addicted stepfather and a mother she believes was narcissistic, including physical, mental, and sexual abuse, cruel punishments, and being taught to lie about bruises. She explains that from ages 10 to 14 she lived in a state home that was safer than her home life, then was brought back and quickly married in a “sham” wedding arranged by her mother. Misty recounts abuse and control in her first marriage, losing access to her daughter for over 10 years, repeated jail stays while fighting for custody, and later being supported by her current husband of 17 years while she worked through insecurity and trauma. She explains writing began as a way to “fix what’s broken,” became a reframing of survival rather than guilt, and describes healing as a daily choice, including anxiety and nervous system effects. She contrasts “victim” versus “survivor,” details her career success as a business owner and real estate investor, and discusses her lack of spirituality due to religious abuse and exorcisms in childhood. The conversation also addresses child marriage laws in the U.S., noting it remains legal in many places and can be used as a trafficking loophole, and Misty’s goal to build a platform to advocate for legal change. She outlines plans to finish a second book by the end of summer covering later years, and closes with the book’s message: as long as you keep breathing, there is still hope and “our path is not our destination.”00:00 Meet Misty Nesbitt & the Memoir That Breaks the Silence01:08 Childhood in Chaos: Abuse, Addiction, and a Mother Who Looked Away02:01 A State Home Felt Safer Than Home02:44 Married Off at 14: A “Sham” Wedding in Three Weeks03:10 What Happened to Her Sister: Survival, Racism, and Cruel Punishments05:09 Manipulation & Shame: Being Pitted Against Siblings and Blamed for Her Looks06:22 Betrayed by Her Biological Father: Traded for Drugs at 1707:35 Writing to Heal: Turning Secrets Into a Story09:57 The First Marriage: Abuse, Custody Battles, and Losing Her Daughter11:49 Is Healing Real? Empowering children and adults to think positively - Teodora Pavkovic
… how I came to be a psychologist and coach interested in children, parents, emotions, and a strengths-based approach to change. Spanning 3 continents and 9 countries, my story is that of a Third Culture Kid whose ever-changing environment shaped my personal and professional life in powerful ways. The country I was born in ceased to exists in that form by the time I turned 10, and the country I actually grew up in was culturally too different to the one of my birth for me to call it 'my own.' I had no other choice but to find my own ways of connecting, belonging and forming a personal identity. What my meandering path has taught me, is that no one culture or society has figured out the one right way of being, parenting, or relating. Instead, the answers lie in a place that is far more profound and fundamental: our common humanity. My global background has allowed me to work with children and adults from many ethnic, linguistic, religious and cultural backgrounds, in the context of a therapist, teacher and trainer. In addition to my training in psychological therapies and Strategic Intervention Coaching, my background has provided me with a unique perspective on how to address a whole range of psychological issues and has ultimately led me to focus on a select few: digital wellness, parenting in the age of technology, emotional intelligence and strengths-based well-being.https://www.teopcoaching.com/
