Just as a business must carry on after its founder steps away, the ministry of Jesus advances through believers who trust in his promises and labor for his kingdom until his return.

Jesus removes himself from the people of Israel. We work through a difficult text about God hardening the hearts of those who have persistently rejected him and we consider if our hearts are hardened towards Jesus.

In Part 2, Jesus teaches us about the dignity of taking up our crosses, the defeat of Satan when we take up our crosses, and the foolishness of the cross to those who are in darkness. As we see Jesus endure towards the cross, we are challenged to endure.
