First & Foremost
by First & Foremost
First & Foremost is a dynamic conversation based show hosted by Kenny and Day Day from The Father's Group. Expect at least two shows a month with the occasional special episode! What will we be discussing? What it's like to live, work, and (try to) relax in Central Oregon while being Black! With a population of ~1%, the vibe of this town can sometimes put you through it while other times give you deep hope! Join us as we discuss culture, food, the non-profit sector, day to day experiences along with some great interviews of Black Central Oregonians as well as Friends of the organization! This show will often times be raw at times but will also have a heavy level of humor mixed in each episode. Regardless, some of the content may contain some pills that are hard to swallow... But if we have to live in this reality, life doesn't sugar coat for anyone. And Neither will we!

Episode 49 - Close The Doors
Hey All! Allllright. This episode, we throw open the sanctuary doors and sit right in the middle of the absurdity that is today's political circus—where high-level security breaches get group-chatted like gossip, and the Department of Defense is out here using Signal like it's a frat house text thread. Kenny, Aaron, and DayDay peel back the layers on one of the wildest national security lapses in recent memory, while weaving in signature laughs, sharp analysis, and the kind of insight only lived experience can bring. Along the way, we reflect on the heart-wrenching decision to cancel this year's Juneteenth celebration for community safety, and explore what protest could look like when Black economic power steps into the spotlight. Close the doors, family—this one's layered, real, and unapologetically us. * Woodchuck Willie * We Lost The Signal * I've Got Screenshots * Lil Boot tha Dark Rainbow * Just about 5 Scaramucci's * Black Out Black History Month * I MIGHT have that many felonies * Top Secret Plans * Black Eye'd Dolla Bill * Juneteenth Festival Cancelled... * But... Episode 46 - One Button Left
YO!!! It's the return of Supadave! He returns, bringing his signature mix of sharp humor and unfiltered truth. From grandfatherhood to cultural ownership, from navigating white spaces to the weight of Black resilience, the discussion weaves through identity, respect, and the absurdities of everyday life. What happens when you've only got one button left? You hold on tight—until you don't. The talk veers—sharp and unscripted—through the nuances of respect, identity, and the weight of being Black in spaces that don't always make space. There's humor, plenty of it. A deep-dive into the delicate dance of culture: how much do we share, and how much do we guard? And somewhere in the mix, a bartender's ignorance, a misplaced comment at a bar, and the simmering reality of being the "only one" in the room. Also on this episode: Tofu Dog Snacks - No such thing. Straight succotash! Grandfatherhood & Generational Shifts – What it means to watch your lineage grow while dodging diaper duty. Charcuterie in La Pine - They Don't Teach You The Difference Code-Switching is Fading – Black folks are done shapeshifting for comfort—authenticity is the new wave. Teachable Bar Moments - Handling Weird Aggressions in Conversation Yippity Snappiters - What you carryin'? The Line Between Appreciation & Appropriation – When culture isn't guarded, it's taken. Where do we draw the line? Negro to Caucasian Translations - Just so you understand... White Spaces & Microaggressions – The balancing act of existing in rooms where you weren't expected. Self-Regulation vs. Resistance – Some choose patience, some choose history lessons, others choose hands. The Power of Black Dollars – Protests may not move the needle, but economic self-sufficiency just might. I've got 3 Tesla's - Not sure how to get them home, though... No Jefferies - The dichotomy of sensitivity vs empathy White Allyship Done Right – Show up, fund the work, and don't expect a trophy. As always thanks for tuning in. Be sure to share with friends! Episode 43 - 'Aight, Bet!' - All Blood Runs Red
History ain't a dusty book on a shelf—it's alive, breathing, and sometimes, it punches you in the mouth. This episode, Kenny, Day Day, and Aaron dig into the unbelievable life of Eugene Bullard, a man who dodged lynch mobs, fought wars on two continents, survived trench warfare, and still found time to open a jazz club where Langston Hughes washed dishes. From dodging Nazis to outboxing heavyweights, Bullard's life reads like an action movie no one's made yet—but should. "First, They Fooled Most" (Opening thoughts on perspective, deception, and standing firm in your truth) The Growth of the Show (A podcast that doesn't do NPR voice and embraces lived experience) Ujima Kids Are Listening (When students AND their parents tune in—no pressure, right?) Aight, Bet! (The new segment dedicated to the Black figures history books forgot) The Man, The Myth, The Legend (Introducing Eugene Bullard—a name you should already know, but don't) Thrown Onto a Ship (When persistence meets Big Ox, sometimes you get airborne) The Black Sparrow Takes Flight (From bare-knuckle brawls to the trenches of WWI—this man did it all) Jimmy Joins The Fight (Because a fighter pilot needs a co-pilot—even if it's a Capuchin) Spy Games & Nazi Dodging (Flipping the script—when the underestimated become the biggest threat) The 120-Mile Flex (Some men bike for leisure. Others do it while bleeding, to get a passport photo) Langston, Grab a Dish (When your dishwasher is one of the greatest poets of all time) Jazz, Spies & Whiskey (Parisian nightlife, Black excellence, and making history with every note) Elevators & Irony (When a war hero works an elevator, and history tries to forget) The Real American History Month (Because February isn't enough, and our contributions built this place) If You Love Them So Much, Put the Statues in Your House (Confederate worship is weird, bruh) Flags & Ownership (Who gets to claim patriotism, and who had to fight for it?) Episode 41 - Black Geese Honkey
At the time of recording, we were only three weeks into the year, but it felt like six months had already passed. A new administration, the same old chaos, and a whole lot of what-the-hell-is-happening energy. Kenny, Day Day, Mosley, and Skyler wade through the madness, unpacking survival tactics, therapy, and the ways we move through a world that wasn't built for us—but still needs us. * Pre-Exhaustion Chronicles (The year just started. Why are we already tired?) * HipHop Banjos (Cultural appropriation, history, and how we reclaim what's ours) * Overstepping Externalized Trauma (Why healing feels like resistance) * Sad Wins (The victories that shouldn't have to be victories) * Cracked Mirrors & Stolen Reflections (Identity, appropriation, and the fight to be seen) * Shattered Or Knives (The choices we make when we break) * Depression Is a THING?! (Mental health in the Black community—say it louder) * Code-Switching Ain't a Superpower, But… (It's the magic trick they never see coming) * Black X-Men (Because we've always had superpowers) * A Symphony of Side-Eyes (Microaggressions, road rage, and the language of disdain) * We're Magic (They know it. That's why they fear it.) * Survival, But At What Cost? (We ain't just making it—we're rewriting the rules) From the absurd to the essential, we're navigating the wreckage, finding humor in the heaviness, and proving—once again—why we always make a way. Be sure to check in next week for another episode!

ABOUT THIS SHOW
First & Foremost is a dynamic conversation based show hosted by Kenny and Day Day from The Father's Group.
